Help Stop Islamic Infiltration Into Washington's Public School System

Dear Concerned Citizen/Parent,

On August 22nd, The Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR) sent a letter to all 295 school districts requesting special accommodations for Muslim children during Ramadan and other holidays in addition to requesting speaking time during show and tell to teach all children about Islam and Muslim holidays.

The letter alerted educators to the possibility that there might be students fasting and to notify parents if there were any problems, which is completely appropriate. It also went on to ask for special accommodations for them to not have tests or assignments during this time. We find this special accommodation out of the ordinary and unacceptable.

The request to have CAIR speak at a show and tell is unequivocally unacceptable as CAIR continues to be an unindicted co-conspirator in one of the nation's largest terrorism trial, the Holy Land Foundation trials in 2008. These trials resulted in guilty verdicts on 108 charges of funneling more than $12 million to the terrorist organization, Hamas. Later that year the FBI cut all ties with CAIR. Four Congressmen called for an investigation of CAIR for violating federal laws regarding their non-profit status and this year, another congressman called for an IRS investigation.

CAIR has questionable ties to terrorism and should not be allowed anywhere near the children of this state.

In addition to this blatant attempt to get into our public schools to teach Islam, our Washington State textbooks are filled with inaccurate accounts of history regarding Islam and actually teaches the 5 pillars of Islam along with the Shahada prayer (when said, technically makes one a Muslim). How would most people feel if our students were taught Christianity or Judaism and the “sinner's prayer” in public schools?

Furthermore, activities involved in these lessons have included, taking Muslim names, facing Mecca and performing the prayer positions, as well as art projects including the 5 pillars and jihad. Field trips are taken to mosques where the children are being proselytized, segregated and led to participate in prayers. Would this be acceptable if children were taken to a church, preached at and then led to the altar to pray? Not in a public school. But Islam is getting a pass.

Seattle Veterinarian Killed by Muslim Pirates

NAIROBI, Kenya – A U.S. Navy destroyer was shadowing a hijacked yacht with four Americans aboard when a pirate fired a rocket-propelled grenade, followed by bursts of gunfire. U.S. special forces scrambled onto the occupied vessel only to find the four Americans fatally wounded.

The yachting enthusiasts from California and Washington killed off the coast of East Africa on Tuesday were the first Americans slain by Somali pirates since a wave of attacks began six years ago. One of the American couples had been sailing around the world since 2004 handing out Bibles.

The deaths of the four travelers, all in their late 50s or 60s, appeared to underscore an increasingly brutal and aggressive shift by pirates in their treatment of hostages.

Killing hostages "has now become part of our rules," said a pirate who identified himself as Muse Abdi. He referred as a turning point to last week's sentencing of a pirate to 33 years in prison for the 2009 attack on the U.S. cargo vessel the Maersk Alabama — just two days before the hijacking.

"From now on, anyone who tries to rescue the hostages in our hands will only collect dead bodies," Abdi said. "It will never, ever happen that hostages are rescued and we are hauled to prison."

Jean and Scott Adams, both in their 60s, had been sailing around the world since December 2004 with a yacht full of Bibles to distribute to remote regions. They were joined by Riggle, a veterinarian who volunteered at the Seattle Animal Shelter, and 59-year-old Macay, a sailing enthusiast.

"Great sailors, good people. They were doing what they wanted to do, but that's small comfort in the face of this," said Joe Grande of the Seattle Singles Yacht Club, where Riggle and Macay were members.

Around Christmas, the Quest joined the Blue Water Rally, an around-the-world race. But race organizers said the Americans recently left the race despite what Fox said were warnings about the dangers of sailing in the Horn of Africa region.

The Blue Water Rally said in a statement Tuesday that though yachtsmen are discouraged from sailing in the region, the only other choices are to sail around the stormy and dangerous tip of South Africa or sail back across the Pacific.

A Local Victory For ACT! for America

The following is the latest report from the national ACT! for America office:

Last Sunday, one of our members emailed us that Everett Community College in Washington state had scheduled a presentation about Islam in America. The college announcement listed an official with CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, as one of the speakers.

Chris, a member of our national staff, sprang into action. He put a notice on our Facebook page, urging our friends to contact the college, educate them about CAIR’s background and its ties to Hamas, and demand that the college provide an opposing viewpoint to CAIR’s.

Within 24 hours ACT! for America Facebook friends posted hundreds of comments on the college’s Facebook page!

Everett Community College responded by saying this is by far the most public reaction the college has ever received on any issue.

What’s more, the college removed CAIR from its website announcement and announced another presentation would be offered, this one to feature Raymond Ibrahim presenting a different viewpoint. We emailed Ibrahim’s recent column just this past Tuesday!

The ‘Islamophobia’ Myth

‘IS AMERICA Islamophobic?’’

When that provocative question appeared on the cover of Time in August, the accompanying story strained to imply, on the basis of some anecdotal evidence, that the answer might be yes. The FBI’s latest compendium of US hate-crimes data suggests far more plausibly that the answer is no.

“Where ordinary Americans meet Islam, there is evidence that suspicion and hostility are growing,’’ the Time article said. “To be a Muslim in America now is to endure slings and arrows against your faith — not just in the schoolyard and the office but also outside your place of worship and in the public square, where some of the country’s most powerful mainstream religious and political leaders unthinkingly (or worse, deliberately) conflate Islam with terrorism and savagery.’’

Time published that article amid the tumult over plans to build a Muslim mosque and cultural center near Ground Zero in New York, and not long after a fringe pastor in Gainesville had announced that he intended to burn copies of the Koran on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The piece noted that a handful of other mosque projects nationwide have run into “bitter opposition,’’ and it cited a Duke University professor’s claim that such resistance is “part of a pattern of intolerance’’ against American Muslims. Yet the story conceded frankly that “there’s no sign that violence against Muslims is on the rise’’ and that “Islamophobia in the US doesn’t approach levels seen in other countries.’’

In fact, as Time pointed out, while there may be the occasional confrontation over a Muslim construction project, “there are now 1,900 mosques in the US, up from about 1,200 in 2001.’’ Even after 9/11, in other words, and even as radical Islamists continue to target Americans, places of worship for Muslims in the United States have proliferated. And whenever naked anti-Islamic bigotry has appeared, “it has been denounced by many Christian, Jewish, and secular groups.’’

America is many things, but “Islamophobic’’ plainly isn’t one of them. As Time itself acknowledged: “Polls have shown that most Muslims feel safer and freer in the US than anywhere else in the Western world.’’ That sentiment is powerfully buttressed by the FBI’s newly released statistics on hate crimes in the United States.

In 2009, according to data gathered from more than 14,000 law enforcement agencies nationwide, there were 1,376 hate crimes motivated by religious bias. Of those, just 9.3 percent — fewer than 1 in 10 — were committed against Muslims. By contrast, 70.1 percent were committed against Jews, 6.9 percent were aimed at Catholics or Protestants, and 8.6 percent targeted other religions. Hate crimes driven by anti-Muslim bigotry were outnumbered nearly 8 to 1 by anti-Semitic crimes.

Year after year, American Jews are far more likely to be the victims of religious hate crime than members of any other group. That was true even in 2001, by far the worst year for anti-Muslim incidents, when 481 were reported — less than half of the 1,042 anti-Jewish crimes tabulated by the FBI the same year.

Does all this mean that America is in reality a hotbed of anti-Semitism? Would Time’s cover have been closer to the mark if it had asked: “Is America Judeophobic?’’

Of course not. Even one hate crime is one too many, but in a nation of 300 million, all of the religious-based hate crimes added together amount to less than a drop in the bucket. This is not to minimize the 964 hate crimes perpetrated against Jews last year, or those carried out against Muslims (128), Catholics (55), or Protestants (40). Some of those attacks were especially shocking or destructive; all of them should be punished. But surely the most obvious takeaway from the FBI’s statistics is not that anti-religious hate crimes are so frequent in America. It is that they are so rare.

In a column a few years back, I wrote that America has been for the Jews “a safe harbor virtually without parallel.’’ It has proved much the same for Muslims. Of course there is tension and hostility sometimes. How could there not be, when America is at war with violent jihadists who have done so much harm in the name of Islam? But for American Muslims as for American Jews, the tension and hostility are the exception. America’s exemplary tolerance is the rule.

Man Tries to Impose Sharia in Bellevue

December 22nd, Bellevue police arrested Mustaf A. Abdille for assaulting a man. Abdille thought the man was gay, and that was reason enough to attack him. As the victim and his friends were attempting to leave the bus, Abdille punched him in the chest and called him a "fag." When one of the victim's friends tried to break up the struggle he pushed her to the ground.

After leaving the bus, Abdille continued to harass the victim. One of the victim's friends contacted 911.

Officers tracked down Abdille, who had only recently come to Washington from Nebraska. As he was being booked into jail, Abdille said "In my country, we kill faggots."

Victory in Seattle for the Counterjihad

Anti-Israel ads were stopped by the coordinated actions of Seattle citizens who know better.

As the article says, "There is a lesson to be learned here: quick, decisive actions to counter attacks by jihadist sympathizers are both essential and effective in the continuing struggle to preserve freedom and defeat terrorism. It’s very clear that King County would have allowed the Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign to spread their terrorist sympathies, but for the rapid response of the Freedom Center and other patriotic Americans. Still, continued vigilance is needed. This is an 'interim policy' by King County, as it moves to define new guidelines for accepting non-commercial advertising. As Horowitz noted, the Seattle area is rife with leftist sympathizers and it’s vitally important to continue to hold them accountable for their actions and inactions. The left is, after all, driven by a commitment to an ideology that presupposes that every evil in the world can be laid at the feet of America and its allies."

ACT! for America Member Stabbed in Auburn

One of our ACT! Seattle for America members was approached by what appeared to be a black muslim immigrant with a foreign accent at his school, Green River Community College, in Auburn, Wa., two weeks ago. The black muslim verbally confronted my member over an Act for America, anti-Sharia Law bumper sticker he had on the back window of his car. The Muslim said to the Member,

"Hey, do you have a problem with sharia law?" the Member replied, "Yes, I have a real big problem with sharia law!"

For all intents and purposes he thought the confrontation was over. However, this last Monday, our Member was back on campus putting his books in the front seat of the car with his back toward the outside of the car when he heard,

"Hey!"

The Member turned around and the same black muslim stabbed him near his heart and ran off not waiting to see if he killed our Member!

The knife blade only went into his chest about an inch and after being seen at the hospital received a couple of stitches, and is now fine; he's sore but, Thank God, this awesome man is alive to tell this story!

Our member and his wife, and I, DO NOT want you to fear, but instead take a FIRM stand against this act of violence to intimidate us into SILENCE! This is America and we treasure our FREEDOM. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED AND WE WILL NOT SUBMIT TO VIOLENCE AND INTIMIDATION!

This couple, who are also chapter leaders, along with Brigitte Gabriel, the founder of Act for America, is slated to speak about this matter on Bill O'Reilly's show Monday at 5 pm & 9pm (PST) on the Fox News Channel.

When you are out and about or you are taking a public stand against radical islam DO NOT be intimidated, but act wisely. DO NOT USE YOUR FULL NAME on internet posts or when speaking publicly about Islam. Keep a camera with you at all times. I have a very small digital that I keep in my purse everywhere I go just in case I need to report an incident.

If this kind of attack can happen over a bumper sticker what could happen if the enemy found out who was behind some of the victories Act for America has been having? Although we all know we are fighting a real war, it now seems like it's more intense when it's one of our own warriors who has been attacked with a hate crime.

The police locked down the college and all surrounding schools looking for the perp but never found him so he is still loose in the Puget Sound area. Once the news comes out I will send out another announcement.

Those of us who are on the front line are risking our lives for those in denial! We must make sure that the fence riders, and undecided are given the opportunity to make a decision that Islam IS NOT about peace, but about submission, and force, and it's certainly not about a religion!

Finally, if you pray, please pray for the safety of all Act for America activists. We are those fighters and watchmen trying to bring to light a truth about Islam the multi-culties and the radicals would love to keep hidden until you have been captured by its lies!

A United States-based extremist Islamic Web site was taken down on Friday after the British authorities complained of a post praising a young woman who stabbed and nearly killed a British lawmaker over his support for the Iraq war.

The post included a list of 383 British lawmakers who voted for the war, with instructions on tracking their movements, and it called for Muslims to “raise the knife of Jihad” against them, according to The Times of London, which reported the post on Friday. It also included a link for buying a kitchen knife, the report said.

The site, RevolutionMuslim.com, is no longer available, but Google shows a cached version that predates the post. It is registered in Bellevue, Wash., a suburb of Seattle, and was run this year from Brooklyn.

Radical Site Urges Attacks on Politicians

I first read about Revolution Muslim when they initiated the "Facebook Jihad." Click here to learn more about that. And according to a recent article in Creeping Sharia, the website urges Muslims to attack UK politicians and kill unbelievers (read it here).

But the thing that send a cold shiver through my spine was this: According to the Telegraph report (a news source in Britain), the website Revolution Muslim is hosted in Bellevue, Washington!

The site doing the work of advancing the international goals of Islamic supremacists around the world, the site responsible from removing Geert Wilders from Facebook, the site motivating British Muslims to attack UK politicians, is hosted right here in our home town.

Dame Pauline Neville Jones, the UK security minister, has complained to the American government that they are allowing radical websites to be run from the US.

In a statement published this week the website praised Roshonara Choudhry, who tried to stab Mr Timms to death during a constituency surgery in Beckton, East London. Choudhry, 21, who was jailed for life on Wednesday, was inspired to jihad over the internet. She told police she had visited the Revolution Muslim website and watched videos on Youtube by Anwar al-Awlaki, one of the leaders of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsular.

The statement added: “If you want to track an MP, you can find out their personal website after typing their name in this website. “In their personal website, you can usually find the time and location of their surgeries where you can encounter them in person.” The site then lists the 139 Conservative MPs that voted for the war and the 244 Labour MPs.

There are also 29 religious statements encouraging holy war, including one that said: “When you meet those who disbelieve, smite at their necks till you have killed and wounded many of them then take them as captives.”

I just went to revolutionmuslim.com, and it appears to have been shut down. I have had a subscription to it for a long time, so it must have been shut down very recently. Like maybe today.

Muslims Demand Rights In Jail

TACOMA, Washington — Two Muslim inmates from the Pierce County Jail in Tacoma are suing, claiming they are banned from practicing their religion.

The lawsuit was filed this week with the help of the ACLU and Public Interest Law Group in federal court in Tacoma.

The News Tribune reports that inmates Raymond Wesley Garland and Larry Edward Tarrer say the jail prohibits Muslims from group prayer, bans certain religious clothing and refuses to accommodate their diet.

As Robert Spencer wanted to tell them: "You're in jail. When in jail, you should not expect special accommodation of your demands."

Unless you're a Muslim, of course.

Missed Opportunity to Stand for Freedom and Protect Seattle Cartoonist

The Molly Norris case gave Barack Obama an opportunity. He should have gone on television and given a brief lesson about how freedom of speech is a foremost bulwark against tyranny and a cornerstone of any society that respects the dignity of the human being.

Obama could have said that the idea that Molly Norris would have to give up her career and the name she had established as a cartoonist, and live in hiding because of a cartoon, or series of cartoons, is unconscionable. He could have told the Islamic world that neither Muslims nor their prophet were harmed by cartoons depicting Muhammad, and that the willingness of some Muslims to commit murder over such depictions was the only thing that makes people care to draw Muhammad in the first place.

Obama could also have said that to threaten people with death and to kill people who had nothing to do with any cartoons of Muhammad because of those cartoons was sheer madness, and was a form of violent irrationality that was destructive to free societies — and as such, it was something that the U.S. would do everything it could to resist. He could have announced that Molly Norris and others who were threatened by Islamic supremacists for exercising their freedom of speech or freedom of expression would be given full round-the-clock protection — and that if violent protests and riots over cartoons or Qur’an-burning broke out in areas where American troops are deployed, those troops would put down those riots and protect the innocent to the fullest possible extent.

Molly Norris Disappears

You may have noticed that Molly Norris' comic is not in the paper this week. That's because there is no more Molly.

The gifted artist is alive and well, thankfully. But on the insistence of top security specialists at the FBI, she is, as they put it, "going ghost": moving, changing her name, and essentially wiping away her identity. She will no longer be publishing cartoons in our paper or in City Arts magazine, where she has been a regular contributor. She is, in effect, being put into a witness-protection program—except, as she notes, without the government picking up the tab. It's all because of the appalling fatwa issued against her this summer, following her infamous "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" cartoon.

Norris views the situation with her customary sense of the world's complexity, and absurdity. When FBI agents, on a recent visit, instructed her to always keep watch for anyone following her, she joked, "Well, at least it'll keep me from being so self-involved!" It was, she says, the first time the agents managed a smile. She likens the situation to cancer—it might basically be nothing, it might be urgent and serious, it might go away and never return, or it might pop up again when she least expects it.

Action Alert: Sharia Law Must Be Confronted

Or, on the contrary, is it something entirely different, not so much a religion as a political ideology grounded in an incendiary and hortative arsenal of texts, primarily the Koran but also the Hadith, the Sirah and the theological ruminations of Islamic thinkers and jurist from earliest times to the present?"

Last week, in a zealous crusade to be a true friend of Islam, the White House secretly hosted special workshops to provide members of radical Islam groups with direct access to U. S. government funding, assistance and resources. The Obama Administration has embarked on a never-ending mission to befriend the enemy---Sharia Law.

Several governmental agencies, including the departments of Homeland Security, Education, Agriculture and Health participated in the White House seminars. The goal was to provide the leaders of groups associated with the parent organization of Hamas and al-Qaeda (the Muslim Brotherhood) with tips on cutting through "red tape" when seeking U. S. government access or money. Over 20 national Muslim groups with ties to the global Islamist organization that preaches jihad participated. Their final aim was to obtain cash and other resources from our own government! Yes, many of these organizations have genuine radical ties and all of them embrace Sharia Law, which is grounded on making sure that every government and every nation embraces this Islamic government---which supersedes any election or any other form of government, even if it means overthrowing other governments by force!

Here is how Muslims define Sharia Law: "The sacred law of Islam. All Muslims believe Sharia is God's law, and, as per verse 5:48 of the Qur'an, it is their duty to impose the Qur'an and to rule over us!" According to the Qur'an, striving to institute worldwide Sharia Law is a "religious duty"!

Sharia Law is not merely "religious." It is political at its very core. Sharia Law says there is NO separation between the political and the religious in Islam.

In the Qur'an, Allah makes it very clear that man-made governments (like a democracy) and free speech (such as telling the truth about Islam) are abominations and must be eliminated.

Dating back to the seventh century, Muslims have built mosques to celebrate victories and conquests. That is also what will happen near Ground Zero. I am not against the freedom to build a mosque, but to build it near Ground Zero is very insensitive, especially to the families of the victims of 9/11.

Christina Regenhard, who lost her brother during the 9/11 terrorist attack, said this: "My brother's remains were never found. He was killed by Islamists and now they want to build a mosque on his grave. Their victory will be complete!"

Never, ever believe it when someone says that Islam is a "religion of peace". That simply is not so. Do I know several peaceful Muslims? Yes. But if you study history, you will find that Islam has a very horrific past of war and killings. These continue even today. Sharia Law must be confronted for what it is. This year, hundreds have been murdered because they came against Sharia Law! This year!

Mommy Liberty

Created by Eliza Gauger, a 17-year-old student from Bellingham, Washington, the skillful drawing of "Mommy Liberty" has been reprinted in newspapers across the country and has been turned into posters, coffee mugs, T-shirts and baseball caps.

The pencil sketch portrays Liberty brandishing a revolver and cradling a baby wrapped in the U.S. flag. "The most dangerous place in the world is between a mother and her children," the caption reads.

"I was illustrating my own mother's willingness to do anything, even something she hated -- my mother is terribly afraid of guns -- to protect her children," said Gauger in an e-mail. "I think America feels the same way about its citizens."

Gauger created Mommy Liberty the day after the 9/11 attacks and posted it to her online diary at LiveJournal. The response was immediate and overwhelming. The image was quickly sent around the world by e-mail.

"People have been passing it around on forums, with e-mail, at schools, at truck stops, posting it on their cars, wearing the T-shirts," said Gauger. "It's phenomenal."

Mommy Liberty has also been reproduced by about a dozen U.S. newspapers as an editorial cartoon.

Gauger has received hundreds of e-mails about the image, including messages from U.S. servicemen overseas. She has heard from people who passed around the image at home or school, she said. She was even told about one employee of a Florida 7-11 who handed color copies to customers.

In An American Court, Sharia Law Wins

SEATTLE TIMES - Habibo Jama was handcuffed for nearly five hours during a raid at her apartment by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Seattle and Tukwila police departments. She claimed the officers wouldn't allow her to cover her head in accordance with Islamic tenets.

So she sued the Feds, and the Feds settled. The woman received $40,000.

The raid was targeting a national distribution network of a leafy herb known as "Khat," which is illegal in the U.S. but commonplace in the Horn of Africa where it has been chewed for centuries as a mildly euphoric stimulant.

So let's get this straight. American Federal agents didn't follow Sharia law, were sued in an American court, and lost.

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that Congress shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion, yet the Quran states in Sura 4:89, “Those who reject Islam must be killed. If they turn back (from Islam) take hold of them and kill them wherever you find them.”

The key difference between Islam and Christianity is that Islam believes that we are to lay the lives of others down to promote the cause of Allah. Christianity, on the other hand, believes that we are to lay down our own lives that others might live. There is a huge difference between a Christian martyr (laying his own life down) and a martyr for Islam (laying the lives of others down). One requires courage. The other is the supreme act of cowardice.

Faking Hate Crimes

In July, I wrote about a "hate crime" so pathetic it shouldn't have warrented a news story, but it got a news story and CAIR got involved, making a mountain out of a molehill. I thought at the time that it was possible for the "hate crime" to have been done by a Muslim in order to have a hate crime to report.

In JihadWatch last month was a story about a faked hate crime.

Why fake a hate crime? It helps Islamic supremacists portray themselves as a persecuted people, eliciting our sympathy. And this sympathy makes non-Muslims less likely to stop any encroachments they might want to make, and makes us more likely to accommodate their demands.

There aren't many hate crimes against Muslims, but they make the most of each one. The total number of "hate crimes" committed in 2007 was 7,624. Of that number the following statistics were compiled on crimes whose origin was determined to be based on religious bigotry:

Mohammad often portrayed his hostile, supremacist, aggressive actions as a justified response to someone else's hate, or someone else's efforts to impede the spread of Islam. When Mohammad finally conquered Mecca, one of the first things he did was to order the execution of five people who had at one time or another mocked or insulted him or Islam.

It says repeatedly in the Quran that Muslims should pattern their lives after Mohammad. He is an example of what a good Muslim should be.

If more people knew about this kind of information, they would be less fooled by fake hate crimes and less willing to give in to Muslim demands. Go forth and spread the word. Rape is ok for Muslims in NJ? Not my words...

Sharia in New Jersey: Muslim husband rapes wife, judge sees no sexual assault because Islam forbids wives to refuse sex

Muhammad said: "If a husband calls his wife to his bed [i.e. to have sexual relation] and she refuses and causes him to sleep in anger, the angels will curse her till morning" (Bukhari 4.54.460).

He also said: "By him in Whose Hand lies my life, a woman can not carry out the right of her Lord, till she carries out the right of her husband. And if he asks her to surrender herself [to him for sexual intercourse] she should not refuse him even if she is on a camel's saddle" (Ibn Majah 1854).

And now a New Jersey judge sees no evidence that a Muslim committed sexual assault of his wife -- not because he didn't do it, but because he was acting on his Islamic beliefs: "This court does not feel that, under the circumstances, that this defendant had a criminal desire to or intent to sexually assault or to sexually contact the plaintiff when he did. The court believes that he was operating under his belief that it is, as the husband, his desire to have sex when and whether he wanted to, was something that was consistent with his practices and it was something that was not prohibited."

Luckily, the appellate court overturned this decision, and a Sharia ruling by an American court has not been allowed to stand. This time.

From today's opinion in S.D. v. M.J.R. (N.J. Super. Ct. App. Div.), a domestic restraining order case:
The record reflects that plaintiff, S.D., and defendant, M.J.R., are citizens of Morocco and adherents to the Muslim faith. They were wed in Morocco in an arranged marriage on July 31, 2008, when plaintiff was seventeen years old. [FN1] The parties did not know each other prior to the marriage. On August 29, 2008, they came to New Jersey as the result of defendant's employment in this country as an accountant....
[Long discussion of the wife's allegations of abuse, which included several instances of nonconsensual sex as well as other abuse, omitted for space reasons. -EV]

Upon their return to the apartment, defendant forced plaintiff to have sex with him while she cried. Plaintiff testified that defendant always told her

this is according to our religion. You are my wife, I c[an] do anything to you. The woman, she should submit and do anything I ask her to do.

After having sex, defendant took plaintiff to a travel agency to buy a ticket for her return to Morocco. However the ticket was not purchased, and the couple returned to the apartment. Once there, defendant threatened divorce, but nonetheless again engaged in nonconsensual sex while plaintiff cried. Later that day, defendant and his mother took plaintiff to the home of the Imam and, in the presence of the Imam, his wife, and defendant's mother, defendant verbally divorced plaintiff....[...]

While recognizing that defendant had engaged in sexual relations with plaintiff against her expressed wishes in November 2008 and on the night of January 15 to 16, 2009, the judge did not find sexual assault or criminal sexual conduct to have been proven. He stated:

This court does not feel that, under the circumstances, that this defendant had a criminal desire to or intent to sexually assault or to sexually contact the plaintiff when he did. The court believes that he was operating under his belief that it is, as the husband, his desire to have sex when and whether he wanted to, was something that was consistent with his practices and it was something that was not prohibited.

After acknowledging that this was a case in which religious custom clashed with the law, and that under the law, plaintiff had a right to refuse defendant's advances, the judge found that defendant did not act with a criminal intent when he repeatedly insisted upon intercourse, despite plaintiff's contrary wishes.

Having found acts of domestic violence consisting of assault and harassment to have occurred, the judge turned to the issue of whether a final restraining order should be entered. He found such an order unnecessary, vacated the temporary restraints previously entered in the matter and dismissed plaintiff's domestic violence action....

The appellate court reversed this absurd decision, saying:

As the judge recognized, the case thus presents a conflict between the criminal law and religious precepts. In resolving this conflict, the judge determined to except defendant from the operation of the State's statutes as the result of his religious beliefs. In doing so, the judge was mistaken.

A close call. But no doubt more of this is to come.

New mosques on Eastside to Accommodate Expanding Muslim Community

This, from an article in the Seattle Times:

At Bellevue's Islamic Center of Eastside, where the men gathered for midday Friday prayers spill out of the building and into the yard, leaders are hoping to demolish their current building and replace it with an approximately 15,000-square-foot mosque.

Several miles away, congregants at the Islamic Center of Redmond have bought a warehouse and land and are raising money to turn it into their permanent space.

And at Medina Academy, a private school operated out of rented space in Redmond, board members are raising money to build a permanent school.

Indeed, just about all the major Muslim groups on the Eastside have recently bought land or buildings, remodeled their current buildings or are planning to build larger, permanent structures. Taken together, it's "the beginning of the community getting more organized and more rooted in the area," said Amro Youssef, who's in charge of fundraising for Islamic Center of Eastside (ICOE).

Do we know what they teach in mosques locally? Do we know where the money is coming from? Many mosques in the U.S. are built by the Saudis and they strongly influence the imams to preach hatred for America and the overthrow of the government. Is that what is happening right here in Bellevue? We don't know.

What can we do about this? Right now, we can't do much because we don't have enough local members. What we CAN do is realize Muslims are moving into this area, and we can educate our fellow non-Muslims about basic information on Islam, and about ACT! for America, the organization.
