How to complete the Citizenship journey, convert and renounce Indonesian Citizenship to Singapore Citizenship. First of all, congrats! here are some tips and guide after you received your approval in-principal letter from ICA.

Starting the 1st of January 2020, the new application for renunciation of Indonesian Citizenship will be processed through online application Sistem Administrasi Kewarganegaraan Elektronik (SAKE)
The online application is managed by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, Directory General for Public Law Administration. Complete the Singapore Citizenship Journey.

Citizenship Approval Letter.
After completion of the Singapore Citizenship Journey, you'll get an approval letter within 1 or 2 weeks. inside the letter there's an instruction that you need to formally renounce your Indonesian citizenship before the appointment date that has been assigned to you. if you can't make it, you can change the appointment up to 3 times from the ICA e-appointment.

Declaration to renounce the Indonesian citizenship before the notary Public at Singapore.
In the embassy they've a list of notary public that can help with the declaration, don't waste time to go to the embassy and get the list. Instead once you've got your approval letter, do contact the following Notary Public to make appointment for your declaration:

Look for Donna (Administrator), this notary public know very well what to do and what to prepare, I can vouch for their service (I met two persons in the embassy and two of them using the same Notary Public including me). Donna will explain to you the document required. During you appointment, Donna will check all the document, draft the letter and you need to sign it.

During the appointment, you'll need to fill in a form "Melepaskan Kewarganegaraan RI" (so you don't have to fill this in embassy) do not put the date and the signature because you need the stamp (materai). Donna will prepare all the copy for the documents, draft the declaration letter and you need to sign on it. you'll also be able to change your name / insert a Chinese name through Deed Poll.

It will take about 3 working days, since your declaration letter need to be legalized by the Singapore Academy Law.

Total cost for declaration (inclusive legalized by the Singapore Academy Law): $193

The Declaration need to be legalized by the Singapore Academy Law.
As mentioned before, Donna will help to get the declaration legalized, what you need to do is just to pick it up from Donna. It will take around 2-3 working days.

The legalized declaration need to be endorsed (stamped) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The MFA is near the Indonesian embassy, so if you want you can do it at the same day. do come here in the morning 9AM since Indonesian Embassy closed at 12PM.

In the entrance, just mentioned that you need to legalize document, exchange the past and walk strait to the building. you''ll see a counter on your left, pick up the queue number from the machine in the counter. when it's your turn, just submit the document and he/she will legalized the document (front page) and you need to pay $10 (only cashcard / NETS! no cash)

There's a self service photocopy machine (bring a lot of 20 cent coins), Donna has prepared a copy of the declaration, what you need to do is to copy the legalized front page and replaced it. Do make another copy if you want to keep an extra for yourself because the Indonesia Embassy will ask you to submit both the original and copy.

9:05 AM I got queue no:2 (arrived at 8:45AM at the main gate) Take some photo of your KTP, KK, Passport and the declration letter. You need this information to verify the draft.
9.30 AM Submitted my document, paid $4 for stamp and signed. waiting for the draft
10:00 AM draft ready - reviewed draft, signed and submitted it back to the counter. you'll see a date in the draft letter, that's going to be your pick up date.
10.10 AM made payment $60 in the payment counter at first floor.

It will take at least 5 working days. Submitted my doc on Monday and pick up is the next week Monday. At this point they will take your original passport, KTP, KK and Birth cert. No travelling possible until you get your Singapore passport. you can also change your appointment with ICA to an earlier slot since you know when you can get the Renunciation of Citizenship letter.

Pickup is from 3-5PM, don't forget to take queue number at the counter 4. Collect your Renunciation Letters & original birth cert + letter mentioning what kind of original document (KTP, KK) has been surrendered to the KBRI.

ESR iPhone 8 Plus Metal Kick Stand Casing Review

A fusion between protection and functionality is what ESR iPhone 8 Plus metal kick stand casing offers you. Currently selling at $18.99, with 3 colours option: black, silver and rose gold.

I’ve reviewed the smaller Brother ESR iPhone X metal kick stand, while they are made from the same material and design, one thing to take note is that iPhone 8 Plus is a heavier device, let’s see whether the ESR casing able to support it.

The presentation is simple and it’s all what you need for the packaging of a casing.

Design.

The design is simple with a combination of both silver and black. the kickstand made from metal and it blends pretty well with the silver casing color.

The inner layer has nice pattern design, the only complain that I’ve is that you can see that the ESR label wasn't placed nicely and exposing the silver colour a little bit. I don't think this will cause any protection issue, it's just a cosmetic.

The casing is made from dual layer structure, a hard polycarbonate which feels like a metal and a flexible bumper that enclose the whole iPhone, not forgetting a metal case stand. Intended to have an extra protection and a metal kickstand it come with a cost, it's pretty heavy.

the polycarbonate part it's matte which to some degree is preventing the finger print mark. Oil mark can be seen if you've an oily hand the good thing about polycarbonate, it's easy to clean it up, just wipe it once and all the mark is gone.

Not so for the matte metal stand, it's finger print and scratch magnet. this is something that can't be prevented, metal = scratches.

The metal stand itself it's pretty sturdy and the mechanism to open and close is pretty well made.

Functionality.

It could support the iPhone 8 Plus with no problem, the angle is pretty good as well instead of just locked in to one angle, you could have a multiple angle with this casing.

comparing the same casing for the iPhone X, I would say that the ESR kickstand for iPhone X offers greater flexibility for the angle. I need to be reasonable because the iPhone 8 Plus is heavier than iPhone X.

One thing that's pretty useful, you can also use the stand for a vertical! I was curios whether this case able to support the iPhone 8 Plus and it's amazing that it could without any problem.

Opening and closing the kickstand is a breeze, with or without finger nail it works pretty well. it look sturdy, I believe it will not break even if you drop it couple of times.

The button has a good feedback and it's easy to feel it just with your finger. the silent button is a little bit difficult to reach if you don't have a finger nail.

the access to the lighting port is deep but wide enough for third party cable such as verbatim

I like the ability to have both horizontal and vertical stand, it's stable and sturdy kickstand. I only have a slight difficulty for the silent button access but the Lighting port access is wide enough for the lighting cable and I don't have any difficulty put it in and out.

Protection.

Reinforced drop protection, with at thicker bumper it's giving a decent protection for your iPhone 8 plus. I'm not worried about the back drop because of the metal stand which will protect the back glass of the iPhone 8 Plus.

At the front part it's protecting the screen pretty well but it's almost at the same level if you are using a 0.3mm tempered glass protector.

The camera is protected with a slight rise around it. as long as there is not sticking object pointing at the camera when it hit the ground it would be safe. I would also thing that whenever you drop it, it will always fall on the bottom part first because it's heavier.

Summary.

Stable and sturdy kickstand casing, with added protection. it has been dropped couple of times(0.5-1.5 meters) and protected my iPhone 8 pretty well. If you like the design, doesnt mind about the weight, need an extra protection with a stable kickstand, this is one of the casing that you should consider.

We've been invited to Totobobo Headquater in Singapore to learn more about the Totobobo mask. I met with the owner, Francis and I was impressed to hear his vision on how he designed the mask that's not only safe but also practical to use.

There are two important things to consider for a mask to be able to filter well the pollution or haze. The first is the fit and second is the filter. if you've a good filter but a poor fit, it doesn't help much because as you inhale the pollution or the haze will go through the small opening. if you've a bad filter and good seal it's also doesn't help much because all the small particles will go through easily.

THE FIT

To be effective masks like N95 masks need to maintain a well-fitter seal at all times. When you breath especially during the inhale while wearing a not properly sealed mask, the air that you're inhaling enters through the gaps bypassing the mask filtration system. this can also gives people a false sense of security, that's why mask manufacturer normally printed the guide how to fit the mask outside of the box.

Since the haze couple of years back honestly I've been trying a lot of different type of mask but unable to get a perfect fit. This is the strong point of Totobobo mask, you can actually reshape the mask with a warm water or hair dryer to fit you better.

To measure the effectiveness of the masks (fit factor), we were using the TSI portacount pro device, this device is reliable enough to fit test any fitting respirators.

What is a fit factor?
A fit factor is a measure of how well a particular face piece seals against a person's face. It is expressed as a ratio of the concentration of challenge aerosol outside a respirator to the concentration of aerosol that leaks into the respirator through the face seal. A fit factor of 100 means the air inside the mask is 100 times cleaner than the air outside. The measurements made during face fit tests are an assessment of respirator fit at the time of testing only. Respirator fit at all other times will vary. The Fit Factor value is not intended for use in calculating an individual’s actual exposure to hazardous substances.

We spent some time to custom fit the mask,that's another advantage of totobobo mask: the water-mark method to identify any leaks, the internal surface of the mask turns into transparent when it touches a wet skin.

The result: it has more than 200+ fit factor. I was happy with the result finally I'm able to get a good fit mask.

Let's take a look at a different test, the Respro mask. I had a difficulties to fit the mask, it could be that the mask size is too big for me.

It has a low fit factor about 40-60 but as I pressed the mask harder with my hand, the fit factor jumped to 200+, when I released it the fit factor was dropping to 0. Respro has a good fit factor if you are able to get a good seal with it

How do you know whether a mask is well sealed? it's hard to know actually even with the recommended fit check (inhale and exhale to check the air leakage)I found it difficulties to justify whether there's a leak or not. This is what I like about Tobobo mask that it has the capability to check the seal with visual identification. you can also adjust the straps and even convert the ear loop to "head starp" with the connecting adapter (included in the package)

THE FILTER

We are all quite familiar with N95 masks, normally it's either NIOSH certified (US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) or EN-149:2001 (European standard).

Tobobo mask filter vs N95 filter thickness, it's thinner if you compare it together with the outer layer but it looks about the same if you compare it with the inner layer only.

NIOSH certified mask need to have at least 95% filter efficiency, while EN149 has three classification FFP1 (80% Filter effiency), FFP2 (94%) and FFP3 (99%) and they can filter 0.1-0.3 microns particles if it's perfectly fit on the wearer's face.

Totobobo has 3 different filters F96 (96%), F94 (94%) and F92(92%). Totobobo mask / filters are not officially certified by NIOSH / EN149 but they've been proven by the lab (Nelson Laboratories) that they are able to perform pretty well.

The lab results shows that the F96 filter has 99.86% efficiency to filter up to 0.1 microns particle. the F94 has 99.71% filtration efficiency. the F92 doesn't have any lab report.

I've enjoyed looking through the microscope directly to see those small black particle trapped in the fiber :)

The fiber diameter thickness is about 2.3 microns and if you see on the image above there are smaller particles (black dots) that was trapped, how this is possible? the answer is the electrostatic attraction.

This electrostatic force will slowly decrease gradually and it's recommended to replace the filter after 2 weeks of use, or when it changes to 50% grey.

Even though without the certification based on the lab result the F96 Totobobo filter has the same capabilities and effectiveness as certified N95.

From the pictures we can see that there's a visual confirmation how much that they filter able to trapped the particles. This is a good indication on when to change the filter compared to normal N95 mask. It doesn't mean that N95 mask doesnt captured particles as good as Totobobo but normally other N95 mask has a filter area effectiveness higher than Totobobo (the whole mask is a filter compared to two small filters in the Totobob mask).

we also tried using normal cotton pad from guardian to test out the filter, Nice try! but the result was bad so don't compromise it, use at least F92 filter.

First impression summary:

Totobobo mask has a good feature where you can customize the mask (and the ear loop) by reshaping it with hot water / hair dryer. This is a very crucial feature, a mask that do not fit your face is not an effective mask at all. The rim of the mask is integrated with silver ion which is an anti-microbial agent. it's recommended to use a warm water to reshape, it will change the integrity of the mask if you put it in a very hot water. The ear strap is also adjustable and you can convert it to a head strap.

You need to spend some time to customize your mask for the first time, it's not easy to get a good fit in the beginning but you just need to do trial and error.

The filter lacks of official certification but the it has passed the lab test for 96% effectiveness to filter 0.1 microns particles. Nelson laboratories looks pretty reliable test center, you can read about them here and they've been mentioned in the CDC news as well, read it here. The lack of certification could make some customer feel unsecured / worried.

Another good point it's reusable, you just need to change the filter. When it gets dirty you can wash them. In the Totobobo website it stated that you can use the mask up to 100 times.

In my opinion, the price is a little bit expensive compared to other mask such as Airplus smart. Totobobo mask costs USD 33 for the mask and USD 35 for 10 pairs of F96 filter while Airplus Smart Mask costs SGD 7 (three masks).

Compared to Respro, Totobobo price is slightly cheaper. If you are commuting to work for 2 hours x 5 days = 10 hours a week / 40 hours a month then roughly for USD 23 (2x twin pack sporta 2.5 filters to be replaced every month or every 69 hours, whichever is sooner - respro faqs) could last for 2-3 months. Totobobo filters F96, for USD 35 could last 3-5 months (1 pair for 2 weeks, change earlier if it turns grey).

Take it with a pinch of salt as for now, I haven't review the Respro in detail and it depends on a number of other factors (such as breathing rate, level of pollution, etc).

If you are using mask for temporary season such as haze season it makes more sense to buy Airplus smart mask provided you get a good fit as good as Totobobo but for daily use in a polluted area such as Shanghai and Beijing it's better to buy Totobobo considering the practicality of the mask.

For cyclist I think it's better to consider Totobobo. I don't have a good experience using normal mask for cycling, it will get wet then lose its shape and it always leak after a while from the nose, even worst it's fogging up my glasses. It's also difficult to take off especially if you've a helmet and wearing glasses.

We will see how this mask performs in the coming weeks for real life test.

Please be careful when you buy Nutribullet in Singapore via qoo10 or any other place such as ebay, third party online seller, there are really fake Nutribullet out there with a sub standard quality and for safety please pay a little bit more at the department store (about $99 during discount period compared to $50 -$60 at qoo10).

I'm not sure whether all seller from qoo10 are selling a fake Nutribullet but at least the one that I bought from there is a fake. When I got it, I was quite happy and didn't realize it at all but upon checking the same Nutribullet from Metro (which I bought it at the end) confirmed my finding.

The most obvious difference that you can spot on is the logo, the fake one doesn't have a trademark ® logo, the brand logo "Nutribullet" itself is kind of blurry / washed off white color. there isn't any trademark logo at the word "Magic Bullet"as well.

At the back of the Nutribullet main unit,

There is not safety mark logo for the fake one
The paint also showing a sub standard quality, quite blurry.
There is no CE certification (The CE mark, or formerly EC mark, is a mandatory conformity marking for certain products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA) since 1985)

At the base of Nutribullet Magicbullet main unit:

The fake Nutribullet states the name as "blender" while the genuine has "Nutribullet" as the name
The fake Nutrbullet doesn't have "made in" while the genuine made in China.

Power cable:

It has a model number, and extra caution (number 10)
The genuine power cable head has a better quality

The Blade:

It has a different shape, especially on the bottom two blades.
on the base, the genuine Nutribullet has an extra stainless steel plate with a better quality of rubber.

Conclusion: I would recommend to buy the Nutribullet from a department store, avoid the cheaper price. I've been using the fake Nutribullet and so far encountering this issue: one of the plastic glass broken and cracked, it leaks sometimes, it doesn't produce smooth juice I guess because of the blade shape.

Aluminaid N95 Mask vs 3M N8210 Review in Singapore for haze.

The mask also offers longer, more lasting protection against the haze and other harmful gases in a way not catered for by standard masks.

The Aluminaid n95 mask has a valve on it, compared to the 3M the Aluminaid is much more easy to breath because of the valve.

It's pretty hot and humid inside the mask when I'm using the 3M n8210, the Aluminaid it's better with the ventilation valve.

The 3M N8210 N95 uses a rubber which it tighter and make the Fitting better especially if you've a small head. In the other hand the Aluminaid n95 mask is a bit lose uses a fabric rubber.

Overall, the fit is still acceptable and its offer a valve which is very helpful, the price is also pretty cheap $1.9 per piece at Guardian or $18.80 for 10 pieces. at unity they are selling it at $19.90. It comes in 2 sizes: M and L, there is no S size.

Quality: It feels the same fabric as n8210 3M, can't really make judgement on the quality.

If you are concern about quality 3M is a way to go, if you don't want to spend and want a ventilated mask at affordable price take Aluminaid n95 mask.

My recommendation: buy 1 piece and try it out first, if it's fits then you can buy the whole box.

Don't forget to check the expiry date.

Another good thing the company promise for each n95 purchased they will make a mask donation to those in need within Singapore.

If your Indonesian passport expiring soon (within 6 months) make sure that you renew your passport before you're traveling out of Singapore.

Just follow these steps

1. Print and Fill in the Form of request (use only black pen)

7. just walk straight and enter the building on your left.

8. Go to the help desk, they receptionist will check your forms and documents and give you the queue number.

9. When they call your number proceed to the counter and bring all your documents, they will check on your documents and ask you to wait. your name will be called for the next step.

10. when they call your name, please proceed to the bio metric's room to take your fingerprints and photo.

11. After that they will give you a piece of paper and bring that to the cashier (infront of the help desk), make payment and they will give you a receipt with the date of collection. For maid there might an additional step to go to the second floor.

I hope this tips will be useful for you if you are planning to buy new condo (Condominium) in Singapore.

1. The most important tips of all time! Do not believe on the estimate date of TOP, always refer to the official TOP. I was promised that the TOP will be Q3 / Q4 on that year but end up I only get it at q2 the following year which is the official TOP. so don't believe about the TOP estimation, if you can get earlier that's a bonus for you. After the TOP, the key collection will be distributed by batches, you may get a week from TOP or even 2-3 months from the TOP depends on the allocation and how many unit. Sadly enough streetdirectory.com is more accurate predicting the TOP than the agent / developer (And yes you can use streetdirectory.com to find the Condo TOP)

2. Unit availability? In the showroom, normally the agent will show you the available unit that they intend to sell, to have more option look around normally they will have a board showing which unit has been sold and which one is not. to get the best unit refer to that one or if they don't have one ask your agent all the unit that is still available.

3. Awesome facilities? the more facilities that a condo has, the more you need to pay in the future for the monthly maintenance fee so take that for consideration.

4. Can we move in immediately once we collected the key? yes if you insisted but it's not recommended.

First of all once you get they key you need to check for defect, then book an appointment to do a joint inspection for the defects, next they need to fix the defects. so this is can stretch from a week - one month.

while generally you have some ready items such as air-con, fridge, wardrobe and kitchen but the lights are not included. If you are not planing to use LED lights, fixing the lights can be done in 1-2 days. If you are planning to get LED lights prepare to fork our some money to fix a false ceiling and installation. some Condo have false ceiling like in the bathroom / kitchen but not in the living, dining and bedrooms.

You also need to consider to paint your new house, normally they only give a basic plastering / paint so you may consider to paint it.

so the estimation time with a simple renovation and defect rectification about 1 - 2 months after key collection. if you really want to move in, before that at least get the water and electricity ready which can take 2-3 days.

5. Location? Make sure you visit the real location of the condo, the map given to you in the brochure is often time misleading.

Make sure that the driving time / transport is within what you expected, if possible to couple of round to get the feeling at morning and night, after all you are going to live in that place. You may also check the nearest shops / mall around that place.

6. Take picture of the show room. Especially the tiles, design, pattern, etc You'll need it in the future to compare it.

7. Property Tax is much higher than HDB, so keep that in mind. you can use this property tax calculator to get estimation.

This filter is an one stage filtration (even though the said this is a 4-stages filtration):

As far as we know this filter doesn't have any certification to backup their claim.
