Zeroblunt, an aspiring Filipino rock band, made their appearance at "Young Wild and Free" show with VJ Meagan at flippish.com last night August 15, 2013 with a great performance!

Composed of four members, Ramcy "Chee" Tirona for lead vocals, Michael Joseph "MJ" Vicencio for lead guitar, Johanne "Yohan" Ongchangco for bass and Mark Lamanilao for drums, Zeroblunt is something that you need to watch out for in the music industry.

The band started coming together just recently due to career and personal endeavors. They actually created the band way back in the late 90's in high school as an active group of musicians performing in school. They have won in the Battle of the Bands and made performances during school programs. Work and Home Cultures : Culture Shock That You've Never Imagined!

What do you know about culture shock? We often associate this term to what we experience whenever we move in to a new environment like a new country either for work or for a permanent stay. What we don't know is that culture shock can also refer to our experience within our current social life!

I've read an article by Jamie Cundy in her blog "The Beauty in the Beast" about this topic and I found it true to myself and what she mentioned are very informative and helpful.

Based on personal experiences, I've had this culture shock several times and there's no way anyone can actually stop this from happening. Culture shock, as mentioned at the onset, is our response to a shift in geographical location and also in social environment. I experienced this when I moved from the fast-paced humid city to a relaxed, laid-back cool city and stayed there for almost 13 years. I was a working student back then and I was in the adjusting phase where I see life in a fast track but I was in a literally slow environment. I often get bored because I got used to doing things in a hurry and being always busy. Then I decided to get back to the fast-life I used to have in the city but I felt like I don't want it anymore and I ended up longing for that subtle suburban life I had.

Whether I'm at home or at work, I often multitask and never leave any second unoccupied. At work, I deal with people on the phone who I don't know and not emotionally attached to. My work "image" or "person" is far different from my home image. At home, I'm interacting with my family and relatives and these are people who are very significant in my life. Sudden shifts of environment, after work we go home, somehow gives me culture shock. Normally, what happens at work cannot be left in the office alone. We tend to bring them home whether it's something good or bad, vice versa. I suffered from this state of chaos in my head because I don't know how to separate work from home.

That leaves me having the weight of considering decisions in favor of my family than work. Being attached to someone is what makes us human and we tend to cling on that. Then there's the dilemma, to work and earn big money for your families basic needs e.g. shelter, food, clothes and education or to stay home to develop a better relationship most especially with kids. One way or the other, disadvantages are always the first thing that comes to our mind.

That is why for some of us, we prefer to work "away" from home to seclude that work culture from home culture. There are workplaces setup to offer lodging for employees whose homes are miles away to save from expenses and to eliminate that feeling and state of mind to go home. However, there are some of us, thank God to the brilliant use of the Internet as a communication tool, we can get to work at home because their getting popular.

Now, the results would be different for people who works remotely in an office and works remotely at home. Office setup gives you opportunity to meet people of all walks of life while home setup gives us the same opportunity but without the actual presence of those people. As an example, a working husband spends eight hours a day working in a prestigious company who often gets meetings, gatherings and what not. When he comes home exhausted and finds his home as his safe haven. With this routine and because of the pressure coming from his "work persona", he fears of being disconnected from his family and not being understood of what he does. Meanwhile, here comes a wife who works at home and takes in charge of everything at home. She may feel deprived of a life outside the four corners of the room and often times becomes paranoid of what her husband has been doing and who he's with. And the effect, the wife in now mixing her "work" and "home" persons which can now turn to a dysfunctional perception. Guess what could happen next, these two people might have the "awkwardness" to talk about things fearing that they don't belong to each other's zones.

Nevertheless, there must be some way to alleviate the clashing of work and home cultures. It is indeed a difficult process to undergo when we try to separate work and home attitude. Only few individuals are successful with this but not to say were perfectly consistent. To keep us sane on everything we do, we got to have someone to talk to. Someone who doesn't know our personal life nor any background to avoid biases and unnecessary gestures. People need outlet for every emotion we cannot handle. I have learned how to separate my work and home personalities but still haven't done it consistently the right way.

Do not try to change yourself but try to understand. I'm not an expert though personal experiences really teach us something.

You would think that the responsibility of caring and helping in the development of an unborn child lies solely on the mother because she's the one bearing the child. Surprisingly, also you can contribute a lot in your child's development! It may sound odd and makes you wonder how since the baby is very remote at this time since he is inside the womb. But you have no idea that at this point, the baby registers routines and memories while he is in his Mommy's womb. This article can show you how important is the father's role during pregnancy.

As the baby develops inside the mother's womb, he can start hearing sounds although a little unclear because the baby is in the water that obscure the sound quality. Primarily, his mother's voice is the first thing that he can recognize and would definitely react to various pitches of her voice. When a mother reads a story book, he can become familiar with it and could feel comfortable with the pattern of sounds.

What the you can do as the father is participate in reading a story to the baby. Or have a little nice talk to get the unborn little fellow get familiar with your voice. This could make it easier for the baby when he's out to feel the bond with you as well.

So you should not stress her out if you want your baby to be healthy not grumpy!

A warning for fathers, do not ever start an argument or hurt the mother physically by hitting or even hurting her verbally. These things are very harmful to any sort of relationships even if the woman is not pregnant.

Next is keeping the mother away from rigorous tasks like heavy house chores. But if it's unavoidable, better help. The stress it brings can also stress the baby and causes disturbance inside and leads to discomfort for the mother. Fathers would never know how difficult it is to bear a child with all these changes in the body all through nine months of pregnancy.

Furthermore, you can also support her by going to prenatal check ups. This is really a big thing for the mother because you can actually let her know and feel about your excitement, concern and willingness to learn more about the baby's development. Getting yourself educated on the current situation can provide you enough things to know what to do, what not to do and when to do things. And you would avoid the hassle of being on a panic mode when something goes wrong or you're on the actual delivery date and it's pretty sure that you'll get a lot of nerve-racking moments if you're not prepared.

Fidelity is a simple yet quite a powerful word that is undeniably most of us imperfect humans would ever face in our entire lives. Men, in most cases, got a huge problem with this comparing to women. The fear of having a lifetime commitment impedes having a healthy relationship as many perceives that no partners nowadays stay forever. With respect to those who are traditionally inclined and with the heart trained with good virtues and principles, those people still trust on this word.

DETRIMENTAL CAUSES

Physical attraction is normally impossible to get away from specially if someone in front of you was one of your fantasy in the past. Things can change over time that you might not have noticed this person long ago but now coming back to you as someone irresistible. Many of us take chances to get closer as we never got that unfortunately when we needed it. For some, they call it catching up. However, at your weakest point, you start to compare and see traits, activities and behavior that are less manifested by your partner. Now, that becomes deadly.

Spur of the moment often leads to being impulsive, still sane but physically insane, as one tends to do the unforgivable for just a night. A night of pleasure and short term happiness which turns out to be regretful and has created a dark deep hole of guilt that a person inflicts his self with.

Spending excessive time in front of the computer not only put risk on your health but also to your relationship's health. May it be profitable or not, this would hinder you from having a quality face-to-face communication with important people most specially your partner. Internet, indeed is a top communication tool we have now but still nothing beats the up close and personal talk like the old times.

An average working hour of 8 is already a big chunk of our time everyday. Overtime for the sake of saving for necessities and other financial concerns can drag you down into losing your quality talk with your partner. Would you keep customizing a car but the engine is starting to fail?

What you do now matters most to your partner rather than what you did before. People change so as some of their habits. Being with a partner again traces back to your purpose, means establishing useful habits that is usually productive and progressive. Have constant special meal together in special places conducive for having a little talk. Dance together or get away out of town for a couple of days to have a private time to talk without any distraction from the busy streets where you're at.

Don't let that spark die

If you started out as a sweet couple like high school couple, don't let that change overtime. It's true that when we get older the more realistic and serious we become in life as we set goals and future plans. Furthermore, we tend to forget those important dates and events we had with our partners but they're just at the back of our heads. Try planning out activities and things that you can do together and have fun. Go back to the time when you first had the spark because of a common activity or something that brought you together. This would strengthen your tie as a couple as you keep enjoying life in doing things together not separately.

Ever since the internet became available, people use it as the fastest way to gain information, entertainment and do business. With internet you can do almost anything possible either for your personal use or business. However, not everybody has access to internet which has now become one of our right and necessity. This is now called global digital divide.

Some countries would have the limitation of not having a decent computer systems and connections at all. Global digital divide is characterized by lack of connectivity, means of connectivity and purpose of connectivity.

However, for those in the first world countries, the advancement of the cyber world is instantaneous and undeniably rapid. From snail mail to email, corporate meetings are now done through video conferencing, school lessons and private home schooling are done through different video call interfaces and business done through a diverse website options and use credit and debit cards and paypal to pay you online.

The ease of every transaction and business provided by the internet has made our lives easier thus contributing to an unmatched edvelopment and progress. This is a great benefit for those countries that are in the first world but has a little effect on third world countries.

Elements that could affect each group for the information access include "infrastructure" and "location" (wikipedia). Depending on the group where they belong to like the well-off people, average and the less fortunate, they have various means of acquiring access. Computers to laptops, applications and progams installed, type and brand of phones, tablets and iPads and the like have an impact on the digital access.

Research and studies done in previous years on the disparities among internet users in terms of data acquisition, economical and social awareness. Numbers display even a strong racial and ethnic divides like for example, Asia has the most number of people online and in most cases with internet access at home. IHG Baguio Goes “Clean and Green” with the community – What for?

InterContinental Hotels Group Baguio has been involved with the community service for almost 4 years already like what we had recently done – Tree Planting in Bayan Park Circle, Baguio City, Philippines.

Many were called to participate in this privilege to help our community though it is a tough, strenuous but fun and fulfilling activity. There are the same faces in most of our company photos but it is so wonderful seeing new people that eagerly went out after their shifts just to be involved with nature.

In 2008, PHPRO commenced the community service with clean up drive and tree planting activities where we started to own Loakan Road and PEZA area as part of our community. A sign board bearing our company name was placed along Loakan Road, where our first babies were planted, to announce our pride in taking care of nature.

On October 9, 2009, year two of the tree planting activity, spearheaded by the environment committee, the participants went on to a drizzling weather wearing yellow disposable raincoats as they march along Loakan Road and plant the seedlings in the designated areas.

On July 12, 2010, year three of the tree planting activity now reached the Busol Watershed in East Bayan, Aurora Hill. Participants were briefed about the watershed’s current condition and reminded us why we have to plant. They were also educated on the planting process so the seedlings will grow better and faster. In line with the theme of recycling, SM Supermarket Judith Herrin gave out green bags to all participants as a gift of appreciation and also to encourage all citizens to reuse, reduce and recycle.

On April 28, 2011, we revisited PEZA area in our next clean up drive community service starting from Scout Barrio up to DENR. Combing all the nooks and crannies of the road made the participants feel they made a great difference in the environment. After the day’s hard work, PEZA provided free lunch for everybody who took part in this community service. As they go home passing along the same road, a new perspective came to them and they could tell themselves “Hey, I cleaned this road and now it’s so good to see it looking fresh!”

In July 9, 2011, which is our most recent event where we are trying to rehabilitate Bayan Park Circle in Aurora Hill. Participants are thrilled to do the another community service participation as they carefully followed the instructions on how far the plants should be situated. The work was done in no time because everybody did their own job!

Looking at this timeline, you may wonder about what we get in doing all these being involved with the community. This can not only build the character and image of the company we belong to but also ours as individuals. It is not just all about promoting our company as a commodity but marketing ourselves as individuals who the community would be proud of.

A company newsletter is one way of disseminating information on who, what, when, where, why and how's in a firm on a regular circulation. Most employees are focused in doing their jobs while inside the office and would most of the time just brushing over the bulletin board or info board for updates. The job of a company newsletter comes in after a day's work where they could take time and read the totality of information fragments they've picked up from work. So in order to give a good impression to those people in the company, a good newsletter lies in the hands of the editor and his team.

A good company newsletter should be and have these following things:

1. Promise is a promise. A company newsletter is a success when it keeps its circulation regular and on time. Why? Simply because your audience is waiting for the next issue and the next big thing after the very first issue that was made. Giving your audience expectation for your next issue to be released after a week, two weeks, a month, next quarter or so, the company newsletter should not delay your audience's thirst for information and entertainment like what you have promised. This is actually the top most common mistake that a company could ever commit. You must've tried receiving a newsletter from your mail or email then after sometime it was followed by the next issue which is on time! You definitely would want to eagerly read those rather than waiting for a newsletter that you wouldn't know when to come your way again or maybe never.

Imagine these people doing this work as an additional job for them aside from their normal working hours. This is not just a school project you can “rush” and say “come what may” on its release. It can damage the company’s credibility and dependability by sending out “half-baked” information that is not even “mouth-watering” nor even “edible” to its audience.

The employer must see to it that the team got enough time and strength to do this if possible not after their working hours. Come to think of it, newsletter is part of a company and these people are still "working on" something for the company. The team chose to be part of it because it is their passion, creativity and wisdom they wanted to share to everyone in the company.

Time-management is the key for a company newsletter to be created, polished and released in time expected.

2. Make everything catchy! You don't want your newsletter to be branded as "lame", do you? One piece of advice, make your headlines attractive. Like any other written material either the title, a subtitle, or a caption they all have something in common...being CATCHY. The headline bears the power of your work and it makes your readers read the body if you caught their attention.

3. Make your headlines LARGE...literally. Aside from being interesting, add more by making the font different and with easy visibility. Put it in front page, even under a 3-column front page make the font sizes vary depending on how you would want your audience read along the page.

4. Lead sentences should "lead" readers to the end. Just like the title, lead sentences give out first thing that the reader “might” like to read about. Then build up the body into something that the reader “would” like to read about. This is like putting in rose petals in the hallway leading to a room where you wanted to take someone.

5. Give a look that “kills”. Layout is very essential and would definitely mean the beauty of the whole company newsletter. Just imagine a 10-page company newsletter all pages presented in a 3-column Times New Roman font title CAPS and boldfaced and no pictures at all? Who would want to read that? Varying in column widths and adding illustration/photographs are way too cool in the eyes. Remember, when a reader picks up a reading material he doesn't read yet. His eyes will be browsing the entire thing first taking a bird’s eye view on each page.

Dead Poets Society is a drama film made in 1989, just six years after I was born, brought me inspiration that no other movies did. The movie, starred by Robin Williams as the non-conformist unconventional teacher, has influenced me to do something out of the ordinary and value every moment of your life. True in most part of the movie, the teaching strategies have opened up ways to make teaching more impressive, influential and challenging than the old-fashioned education. John Keating (Williams) sees teaching as a way of introducing something new to his students in a fashion that deviates from the normal. Tearing up pages of a book is a crime for most educators but for Keating it is nonsense to believe in everything a book says. We are all different species with wide array of thinking so " No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world (Keating)."

Mentioned at the onset quotation, Keating also encouraged his students to pursue what their "real" dreams are but with caution. You can do whatever it takes to reach and grab your success however do not screw up and make everything worse that would result to your painful downfall. Once you've choked on the bone, it can leave you a deep cut on your throat that could make you suffer for the rest of your life or it can slow down your breathing till you turn gray and even kill you in the end. This is what great failure, desperation and devastation would look like. Every action leads to a consequence whether good or bad.

SKINS - My New Addiction

Skins is a British teen drama about a group of teenagers in Bristol, South West England. The controversial plotline explores issues like dysfunctional families, personality and eating disorders, substance abuse, sexuality, teenage pregnancy, mental illness and death. According to wikipedia, "The show was created by father and son television writers Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain for Company Pictures, and premiered on E4 on 25 January 2007. The show is notable for its casting of amateur actors and young writers. The cast are entirely replaced every two series, when the characters leave sixth form." Skins has already aired six series. A Skins film is also in production, as well as an American adaptation by MTV, set in Baltimore, Maryland.

Season 1 has made a good realization on how tough teenage life can be in our generation today. However, set in England, this might be a different setting when it comes to the socio-cultural approach for people watching in Asia. Sometimes, it's better to have our eyes open to the the worst scenario than trying to hide what seems to be "private". Since I've watched the series, I came to know how to get around teenagers' trends, lifestyle, way of thinking and behavior so as to prepare myself and my kids as well on these shocking events in a teenager's life.

The teen drama is very fun and mind-opening, most especially when you get to watch the first episode, you don't seem to stop. Then you'll end up finding yourself watching the whole season and the next, and the next...Plus you'll then hear yourself speaking like Sid Jenkins and Cooke...(better find out these remarkable characters in the set). RIght now?.... Yeah, actually there are so many things bothering me. These things started bugging me when i came to know that "the heart is not from where love is...it's from the brain".

1. I'm still wondering on how the world of "Stocks" works...I simply can't understand this part of the business realm. I read on a magazine once, they adviced never give a share or buy a share on a stock market. I wasn't able to read why because I won't even understand it at all if I attempted to read it.

2. Another thing that bothers me is this strange word....TRUST. People keep on saying "there's no one you can trust in this world..." If that is so, then "the only person you can trust is yourself". But there are times that you can't even trust yourself.

3. There is a woman who is a single parent, has a baby and was left by the guy because he ditched her. What would make this woman enter into a relationship again? To think that worst things happend to her during a relationship, could she trust another man again to enter into her life once more?

4. For a lady who aborted a child because she's not prepared to have a baby yet, would you think she can still afford to have another baby and let it live? Would you think she will love this baby just like most mothers do but didn't feel love for the first baby?

5. What would make a mother cold-blooded looking at her daughter face-to-face behind bars because she was being accused of multiple murders including the nations' devoted servants to protect the country's security?

6. An underground organization training children to assemble weapons and finally using them and making them into future killers just to take over the world, what is worst scenario than this? Could they think of this doig to their own children?

We really can't understand people, the way they think, act and feel. Once they are kind....the next time they are rude. You may never know if who you're talking to is a real person or trying to pose another person's identity. Whatever the answers are to these queries above, I'm sure it's still reasonable and comprehendable by the human mind and reasoning. However, others are beyond the norms and contemporary settings.

my judgement of the past

This person...

He was a past, an acquaintance and an associate who has an exceptional talent of luring the innocent hearts and minds of women.

In nine-months time, the nature and fads of this distinct character are brought out in the open which seemed to be glib and a bit fascinating.

Words of expression is somehow limited by time and will. Misapprehension and misconception were brought about by this impulsive action which has taken toll on every piece of our memories...

The growing love ceased and wilted...'twas thirsty of the water of life...starving of the food for it's soul. There was none to bring it back to life. Until it died...withered and went back to where it all started...a seed of friendship.

Two summers, two springs, two autumns and two winters passed...it finally grew. It grew up to it's desired capacity and again stopped.

And until then, it has never turned out to be great like before, for his faults brought it to it's end.

Beauty's two faces

“Charm may be false and prettiness may be vain. But a woman that fears God brings praise to herself.” This bible verse (Proverbs 30:31) caught my attention one day when I was reading the bible.

Beauty has its own form. For some people they think beauty is not only physical but also spiritual. It isn’t superficial but also internal. This kind of virtue has a big impact on the society and affects a woman’s status especially in trying to excel in the society. There are people who are so vain trying to beautify themselves by adorning their physical bodies with the world’s riches. These people believe that physical beauty is their edge over the soaring competition in every industry. It's so funny to think about it, some companies require good physical appearance to applicants. Well in fact, most of them misunderstood the term while on the other hand some of these applicants don't even qualify because they lack the skills even if they have the physical attractiveness. There are very few women with beauty and brains- they’re rare to find. Through the advancement of our technology every year, people discover ways on how to “FIX” their holy temples (body).

From a magazine, once more, says "you don't have to be busty to be beautiful..." and I believe in that because I don't have the blessing either. Just take a glance at Andrea Corr. She isn’t really that busty but she’s sexy and attractive. Her beauty is reflected by something people couldn’t easily tell from the first glance. I know how it feels walking on the street, seeing men second-glancing at women with perfect curves, good busts and firm butts and finally not noticing you because you're too far from those chicks.

Furthermore, most men say that it's "for your eyes only". Indeed, such beauty is amazing, astonishing and vibrant that every woman would dream of risking everything to be the next Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Pamela Anderson and so on. Men often say, "she's hot, I want her." What they feel is brought by their eyes, not by their hearts. However, there are men who are looking for the inner beauty…the real beauty. So as the bible verse say in the onset, praise doesn’t come from being physically beautiful but instead it comes from being beautiful in personality. Having the touch of gentleness, honesty and cheerfulness, the true beauty is reflected from a person who has a clean and good conscience. It’s not exactly being religious but a god-fearing personality is present. This quality affects every decision and behavior of a person towards herself and the society. For men who often wish for a perfect woman, they don’t usually end up with their fantasy. Instead they end up the opposite of it. So why ask for too much if there’s someone so simple but is real?

We get old, it’s a fact. Cosmetics, facial treatment and even worse surgery will just make yourself age faster. Believing in fashion and beauty magazines that they can change your future by altering yourself physically and beyond what is required will make you look uglier than your true self, thus, sucking you into the trap of wasting your money for an artificial beauty.
