Whats going on with rising gas prices?

A few days ago I drove by an arco gas station and was surprised to see regular unleaded gas at $3.99 a gallon. Today I drove by and found that it has went up to $4.10 a gallon with no end to the increase in sight. I just can't believe how high the price for a gallon of unleaded has gone up. I wasn't able to finish this article last night so I'm continuing it this morning and so after bring my son to school, I needed to stop off at our local arco gas station to get some gas. When I pulled up to the station and looked at the price, I was shocked at the cost. It is now $4.19 a gallon. I guess I should have bought gas yesterday. What usually cost me $20.00 to get a half a tank of gas now cost me $30.00 dollars. What can I do? Who do we blame for this mess? After searching around the internet I found some answers. And I'm not the only one who's upset about gas prices. Seems like Florida congressman Allen West was complaining this morning on his Facebook page to president Barack Obama about the high cost of gas. Here's a quote I found about the real reason for the rising cost. "West and other drivers can't be blamed for the current run-up; it's not American demand for gasoline causing it's prices to rise, but rather demand from China, Latin America and worries over Iran's actions near the Straight Of Hormuz". I have a 2007 Toyota Sienna with a 3.5L engine and it's get pretty goo gas mileage but Geeez. I'm sure everyone is hurting in the pocket.

I used our clear high speed internet connection today to find a great dinner menu for me to cook for Valentine’s day. My husband came home yesterday and was upset that everywhere in town was already booked up for February fourteenth. I told him not to be upset, that I would cook. Secretly, I was actually pleased because I have been wanting to put on a really nice holiday dinner, but haven’t had the chance to have a dinner with just the two of us. I searched the web and found a fabulous beef short rib recipe. I have never made short ribs but love when I have them out. The recipe calls for them to be cooked in Cabernet for hours until the meat is falling off of the bone. I am going to serve them over cheese grits. We don’t have grits out West, so I have to order the grits from Amazon.com in advance. I am also going to order some pretty napkins and place mats. I know that it is going to be a great Valentine’s Day this year, even if we don’t go out!

My wife and I want to buy our own home but we have some major obstacles that we need to overcome first. One thing is that we don't have a good amount of money saved up as a down payment. Another thing is that our credit score is not as high as we would like it to be before we see a real estate agent. I've heard that it's difficult for those people with less than good credit to get a mortgage loan. I know that those people who have bad credit history or have income which is lower than average are considered to be what's known as a "subprime" borrower. I've been trying to work on increasing my credit score by making sure my payments are on time and remove any inaccuracies on my report and even requesting credit increases to raise my score and it has worked for the most part but I still need more time.

It used to be the norm about 25 years ago were you couldn't even talk to a banker about a loan if your credit was less than perfect but all that has changed. But all this has changed in the last few years. Now you can find all kinds of lenders willing to let you borrow money for home mortgages. The once conservative banking industry is now so hungry, they are willing to finance just about anyone. It's good to know that there are now lenders who will be willing to take a risk on those with less than good credit. However, it's going to cost you, the borrower, a bundle for the privilege of borrowing. It means expect to pay higher fee's and interest's to get that mortgage. I'm not discouraging anyone from taking out a home loan. I'm just saying be careful before you dive in head first and get as much information as you can to help you make a better decision.

Disneyland and hollywood tour

I just got back from Disneyland and Hollywood last Sunday and as always, the kids, wife, and I had so much fun. We left San Diego on Thursday and picked up my son early from school and got to Disneyland about 3pm. We wanted to visit the California adventure park first because we've never been there before. It really is for adults but there is some rides children can go on. We seen most of the Disney characters and was able to get some photos although sometimes my daughter briannah was scared and didn't want to get near the characters. There's so much to see and do at both parks that it's impossible to see everything in one day. Even with a day and a half we still didn't get to visit every part of the park. This was all about the kids though. As soon as we got into the California adventure park, we bought the kids some mickey mouse hats. They loved those hats. If you ever get a chance to visit Disneyland California adventure park, I highly recommend you see the "world of colors" water and light show but get a spot early because the area fills up fast and it's hard to get a good view of the show about and hour before the show starts. On the Disneyland park, I highly recommend you see the fire works show about 8:40pm and like the "world of colors" show, you need to pick a good spot early because it's hard to get a spot about an hour before the show. We purchased annual passes to Disneyland so this is not the last time we will visit the park this year.

Things have changed in our apartment complex

I don't know what's up with our apartment manager lately but it's really been bothering me. We tell him about things that needs to be fixed or needs attention and he says he'll tell the apartment owner and we won't hear anything else after that. He's not staying true to his words. He says he'll come here and do this or that but actions speak louder than words. Ever since we moved into this place 6 years ago our kitchen stove hasn't worked. We told him about it and we also told him about the dishwasher being old and leaks so our apartment manger told the owner and got back to us several weeks later saying we would get new appliances but it never happened. After continuing to bother him for some time, we were able to at least get the stove fixed but the dishwasher remains broken. Three weeks ago I told the apartment manager about the garage door not being able to close anym ore. He said he was going to call a garage door repairman to come out and fix it but it never happened. My wife woke me up this morning to tell me our new neighbors truck got broken into and someone stole his stereo sound system and other valuables. The apartment manager told me last week he was going to come by and clean around the dumpster because there's a lot of trash but he never came by. I got tired of looking at the mess so I ended up cleaning up the trash. I remember when we first moved into this place, it was so clean and whenever something didn't work, the manager could always be counted on to make sure it got fixed promptly but after years have gone by, this place is falling apart. We are looking for a house to rent but haven't been able to find anything within our budget yet. I hope some day we will find a house.

Starting off a new year

Well, a new year has begun and it's looking like it may just be a pretty good year. This year I plan on taking care of some financial bugs that have been lingering around for awhile. This way I can have a little breathing space come pay day. This year we won't be getting season tickets to sea world. Don't get me wrong, we like sea world, it's just that I wanted to take my family some where else this year. So I told my wife I would like to go Disneyland up in Anaheim, CA. We went there last year for a day but it went by too fast. We missed seeing a lot of things so this deserves a year membership pass. My wife will get her camera this year and she's excited. The last camera was put to the graveyard when one day we were at the beach and a wave came up and hit our baby stroller and the camera was in the stroller and got drowned by the water. Salt water in cameras is never a good thing. My wife asked me if there was something special I wanted and I told her an Ipad. I'm hoping some day I can have one.

We are big fans of Nick Jr at our house. Even though my kids don’t watch a lot of television, like most children they want to watch it and I believe it’s good for them to see some (appropriate) shows so they are familiar with what other children are talking about. While I knew the shows on the network were educational I had no idea the website provided so many educational opportunities to build on what is in each episode. For each show there are activities, crafts and even recipes to reinforce the learning that takes place while watching. Sometimes it’s difficult to get the kids excited about generic crafts or new foods at our house. With a connection to the characters or events they’ve seen in the shows they enjoy I’ve been able to get them more interested in activities that they otherwise would have only tolerated!

Because the Walgreens cared so much to their clients, they came up with this Walgreens Prescription Savings Club where members can avail the prescription savings of 8,000 brand-names and 400 generics. They are offering low annual membership fee just for this month of January, $10 annual fee for a family and $5 annual fee for individual. If you are interested you must avail it as soon as possible because if not it’ll go back to its regular fees which are $20 for individual and $35 for a family. My wife says that it’s recommendable to follow Walgreens on Twitter and like Walgreens on Facebook for further details, recent news and latest updates about their program.

Family entertainement with the Wii gaming system

Fun and Addicting. That's all I can say about the new gaming console we bought for our kids. We bought the Wii gaming console from Nintendo and it came with super mario bros CD and 1 controller but my wife and I started getting addicted to the game so she went ahead and bought another controller online and now we find ourselves sometimes playing for hours. In a way it's not good because we need to remember what our priorities are and stick to them instead of playing games all day. Now it turn's out we need to buy another controller because now my son is staying up late and he's also addicted to the game. My wife woke him up this morning at 7am to get him ready for school but my son didn't want to wake up and gave my wife a hard time so we had to cut him off the super mario bros on school nights. I love my kids very muchand want them to have the things that I never got to have when I was a kid.

There are so many things that I hate about spoilers. My wife is one of the worst people ever to let spoilers for shows slip. I am the exact opposite when it comes to that. I can get so angry at her when she lets those things slip. After all, they are just a bunch of TV shows. But I hardly ever watch them when they come on so I can be seasons behind her at times when she lets spoilers slip in front of me.

About the only show that I actually keep up with on a normal basis is The Office. I even used our Miami internet service to look up a bunch of information about spoilers for this current season. I fought it for a while, but I just could not wait to see any longer.

Out off all the The Office spoilers, the main thing that I saw was that Andy would be the regional manager. But that is really the spoiler that I was wondering about anyway. I had to know who would replace Michael Scott.

Weight loss and diets

My wife was talking to me the other day saying she wanted to start on this diet plan that she heard from a friend of hers online. I don't know what the name of the diet is called but my wife said she wants to try it and she want's me to try it also. My doctor told me I was about 20-30 lbs overweight and since I have heart problems, it's recommended that I lose some weight. I tried it and it tastes pretty good and I think this diet will work for me because all the ingredients are all natural and safe for me. Well' I think it's better than taking any kinds of those pills that are being marketed these days because they have a lot of chemicals in them that curbs your appetite but my cardiologist does not recommend that to me. It can have a negative affect on my heart condition. So I'm going to try this diet and see if it helps me to lose some weight. Wish me success. I know many people are trying to lose weight and I thought it would be easy until I tried it and found it's not as easy as I thought.

What I mean by this is that she likes to climb up onto the chair and then the table to get to my laptop to hit the keys. I have a Sony vaio laptop that's about a year old and so I try to keep it away from my kids because I don't want it to get damaged like the last one did. Anyways, when I catch my daughter playing with my laptop, I usually discipline her. It's getting to point where I'm getting tired of disciplining her but she just doesn't want to learn. She's 2 yrs old and I know she's still young but after a certain amount of time, I would think she would get the message or learn that when she touches daddy's laptop, or climbs on top of a glass table there will be consequences. I just want her to learn. She's so hard headed and stubborn but she's still daddy's little princess.

I just love the latest smart phones to hit the market these days. They are so powerful and full a=of many capabilities. I can remember when I had my original droid phone, I was consumed most days using the many features this phone comes with like the music feature were I can get free music downloads and play them thru my portable boom box. I also loved the capability to be able to go online at any time of the day and check email, check the news, weather or just do general searches for whatever. My droid was powered using the android software platform. That phone played an important roll in my day to day functions but eventually the phone's touch screen stopped working and had to have it replaced. We stopped at our local cell phone store and browsed all the latest droid phones and Android™ powered EVO 4G devices. I told my wife this year she will end up having the smart phone and I will just buy a flip-up phone since our budget did not include 2 smart phones because of the cost involved for the data plan. Well, My company has a contract with sprint cellular and so I decided to go to my company and talk to the people in human resources. They are also having the activation fee waived on new qualifying lines of service and free shipping so maybe it's a good idea to check them out. They told me the employees will qualify for reduced price on sprint cell phones and plans but I haven't decided what I will do. I'll need to talk to my wife about what we can purchase.
