Ninety percent of my closet consists of J. Crew, so it shouldn't come as any surprise that I am a Jenna Lyons fangirl. Her style is amazing not to mention attainable. Who doesn't have the pieces in their closet to recreate this look.

Interior Decor {My Home}: Office Nook

I have suddenly developed a passion for interior decorating. I have been focusing much of this year on several home improvement projects that were sorely needed. I have lived in my home for about 6 years and it was time to do some painting, upgrade some utilities and just commit to an overall 'lived in' look for my home.

I decided to tackle the two smallest rooms in my home on my own, so I painted them and did some low budget decorating. I would first like to say that Ikea and The Container Store are great shopping solutions for interior decor for small spaces. I got my desk and file cabinet from Ikea and the lucite desk accessories from the Container store. The lucite chair that you see is from Wayfair.com. I use Wayfair to add smaller more interesting pieces in my spaces. I like to think of them as 'conversation pieces'. They have awesome sales and the shipping is usually fast and cheap.

The biggest advice I have for decorating smaller spaces is not to use a lot of wood furniture. I am a big fan of wooden furniture and interesting carpentry but these can be bulky and clutter a space if not incorporated properly. I decided to stick with an all white palette and throw some lucite accessories mainly to give the smaller space a more open feel.

You can't really see from these photos but this room is also where I kennel my two dogs, so I was relegated to one wall to make this office space happen. I maximized space with floating shelves and buying furniture that had plenty of drawer space as well.

Highlights: Resort '15

I am absolutely loving what I am seeing from the Resort collections. If you consistently follow my blog you may recognize the usual suspects with BCBG Max Azria, Proenza Schouler, Burberry Prorsum and Chloe. However, I absolutely had to include that Fendi collection this go round. I usually love accessories out of the major fashion houses like Fendi and Louis Vuitton and am not very partial to their RTW showings. My aesthetic is more minimalist with a touch of modern luxe. I love structured pieces and clothing that translates well into everyday looks. Fendi doesn't usually fit into my aesthetic but the '15 Resort collection was just too beautiful to not acknowledge. Sometimes you have to appreciate the artistry in a designer's collection.

I came across the works of Mike Wrobel, a french graphic designer that has been working on a series of artworks that features your favorite Game of Thrones characters re-imagined in 80's/90's fashions. This honestly has got to be the coolest thing I've ever come across on the Internet. I am a huge GoT fan so you know that I am more than appreciative of the creative spin on the characters in the show. I think he did a great job of capturing the true aura of each character in his artistic interpretations.

I am absolutely loving Proenza Schouler's SS'14 RTW collection. The soft pastel colors, the abstract prints and the structured silhouettes are what makes this collection one of my favorites. It is a punch out list of all of the major trends this season with culottes, boxy crop tops, pleats, abstract prints as well as a minimalist color scheme. This collection is very grown up and modern, I imagine wearing a few of the pencil skirt pieces to work and layering camisoles underneath the deep v neck jumpers to make them work wear appropriate. Overall the collection hits the day to evening wear needs of most women with something that is sure to work for almost every occasion one may think of.

I love the idea of a cropped look for the spring. I would pair it with a high waist pencil skirt or incorporate one of the current trends with the denim overalls. You can never go wrong pairing florals with stripes as the latter serves as a neutral. To add a bit more interest and flair throw in a few clutches in an eye catching color. Birkenstocks are all the rage this season so take advantage of the sensible footwear while you can and incorporate with either look. The great thing about the pieces I selected is that they mix and match well. Dress up the denim with the pumps and dress down the skirt with the Birkenstocks or vice versa.

Spring Cravings: The Birkenstock

Leave it to a change in seasons to get me back into the swing of things with the blog. The winter was extremely hectic for me and I just could not make the time for the blog so sorry for the hiatus. I am officially on the Birkenstock bandwagon. I remember when these shoes were all the rage during my adolescent years and it is great to see the sensible footwear make a comeback. The bright spring colors are really calling my name and I am thinking up all types of casual ways to style them.

Resort '14: BCBG Max Azria

How absolutely stunning is this collection. There isn't a miss in the bunch. If I were insanely rich I would purchase the entire collection. These looks are my absolute favorites. Lubov Azria said her inspiration came from Coachella and festival season. I don't usually love the boho aesthetic in designer collections as they come off as costumey sometimes, but she really made it utterly wearable with this collection.

A Mashup of Prints

I came across a few photos from an event I hosted a few months ago. This was my father's retirement bash and I wanted to do something different. I purchased these pants from Free People and had this peplum floral number that I bought in early spring. I love mixing prints so I decided to throw a mashup together and was very happy with the final look.

Thank you to my lovely sister for snapping these photos when I wasn't looking. She knows how much I am insecure about posing for the blog and she always manages to sneak a few in.

Beauty: Cold Pressed Argan Oil (100% Pure)

So I have been really conscientious of the ingredients in a lot of my hair and beauty products of late. I swear by Aveda's products, as these make up 90% of my beauty regimen. Even so these are not 100% organic and there are still some chemicals in these products. I was reading Rumi Neely's ITG profile and she made an excellent point about finding the organic equivalent of some of the more natural ingredients you find in your favorite products. I am an avid user of Moroccan/Argan oil and have been looking for something in a spray/aerosol format. I came across this product on Amazon's website and it boasts of being 100% pure with certificate of organic operation as proof. I am really excited for the arrival of this product and trust a product review will be forthcoming. I just recently got a haircut and anticipate a dye job shortly so I really need something to help keep my locks moisturized as they are fine and tend to get extremely brittle and dry when I do anything to chemically alter it.

I have been exhausted these last couple of months with new demands of my job (hence the lack of posts) and just haven't been inspired by anything fashion related. Then I came across these leather shorts over on BCBG website. I absolutely have to have these. I must find a way to justify this purchase as they are a whopping $448.00.
