The King of Wands (Fire in Fire) is active, dynamic and effective, at least upright. Reversed, he’s got some frustration. He is not someone who takes kindly to feeling thwarted. Paired with the Ace of Wands, you know he’s not done. Aces are beginnings, not endings! But he does have to start at the beginning and work his way through anything blocking his creative force.

It may be time to re-evaluate your desires. Is it built on solid foundation? Does it suit you, or do you stubbornly cling to outmoded action? You CAN make progress, as long as you do not insist on doing it by hopping on the horse midstream.

Start at the beginning, brining your fire to bear in all actions from the very start. If you can deal with the impatience and bust through, you can make it happen now. But take it one step at a time.

Are You Getting the Message? Mercury and the Page of Coins

With the current sky (Mercury/Neptune action), thought I’d pull up some more Page of Pentacles communication love from some old work for you all…

When I was a kid, my mom often said, “Do as I say, not as I do.” It was one of her catchphrases that eternally frustrated me. It did not compute! Earthy bundle of goodness that I am, I expect what you say for me to do and what you do yourself to match. That’s only logical, right?

Mom wasn’t buying it. She was invoking a parental authority prerogative, I guess.

The Page of Pentacles (or Coins) is associated with Earth (pages) in Earth (pentacles), sometimes expressed as “Earthy part of Earth.” Ha! Pages often refer to communication, so inverted, you may want to look at disconnects in the communication process.

Different people, different charts, will hear messages best communicated different ways. The Page of Wands (Fire) communicates with passion, heard loudest by those with Mercury in a fire sign. Page of Cups (Water) communicates emotionally—arguments based on emotion convince Mercury in water folks. Page of Swords (Air) intellectualizes, just as Mercury in air signs look for the dispassionate, logical arguments. And the Page of Earth looks at tangible action as the overriding method of endorsing a message, as Mercury in Earth signs will tend towards.

Not so very long ago, I started following politics. My husband is a die-hard newshound and watches the events of the world closely, and some of it rubbed off. My good fortune was that this interest hit in time for that Saturn-Uranus opposition, when political discussion hit new levels of rancor. Ugh! But as uncomfortable it has been at times, learning to hear others’ messages is something that I needed to master, and I think I’ve made progress. It’s essentially picking up a new language.

The inverted Page of Pentacles reminds me to check to see if I’m really HEARING others. Some don’t communicate the way I do. I still choose to place more weight on what people do than what they say (being a Mercury in Earth gal), but a different communication style is not automatic license to discard the message. You get a lot more out of this trip if you are willing to tune into a variety of stations. You know? It also reminds to me be aware of my own communication. While I expect my actions to speak for themselves, someone else may need to feel it or understand it in a different way.

Earth in earth, the Knave/Page of Pentacles is above all REAL. He’s the brick and mortar, the new job,or the fresh start. He moves one step at a time, one foot in front of the other, step-by-step. He works in the realm of tangible. He’s young, yes, but also promising. He has a bright potential, but it’s not assured.

Reversed, he’s hitting a snag, maybe having trouble getting himself out of a hole.

The key to this Page getting back on track it to start with small, physical details. Look both to physical means of support—not just financial, but healthy food, plenty of rest and pleasant, and an uplifting environment. Time outside is also helpful. If it’s grounding and earthy, it’s good medicine here.

Goals are also important to Page energy—see how he holds the pentacle up high? He is looking for physical manifestations of his efforts. Measurable progress toward specific achievements, however humble, are very beneficial as he needs to feel effective. It keeps his anxiety at bay.

You can help get your inner Page on track by supporting his efforts on your behalf. Make his job easier! Break responsibilities down into manageable chunks and set priorities. Be kind to yourself physically. Schedule even brief retreats to beautiful, natural spaces to regenerate. Feed your body, your mind and your soul, and he’ll help you claim your material rewards.

She’s absolutely right. The more guts you put in, the more raw emotion, the bigger the punch. Work becomes branded with the energy signature as it was created. he deeper and more authentic the feeling, the the deeper and clearer it’s mark.

This is exactly the Prince of Cups (aka Knight). Air in Water, he communicates (Air) from his heart (Water). Emotion is his power source, and all that emanates from him is saturated in it. He feels. Boy, does he ever! Sometimes, he feels a whole more than he’d like.

I may meet up with him around mixed feelings, quick-shifting circumstances or mood swings. Knights are a bit impulsive. But they are also idealistic expressions of their suit. So when you see one of these guys, you may be well served to check your frame of reference and make sure you know your objectives. That helps keep the focus intact.

Well-supported, his energy can be like the high of new love: exhilarating, boundless and even giddy. Under stress, he can stomp in as an over-sensitive child who seems to have missed his nap. A lot of his character is set by the thoughts you cultivate around emotional experience.

The Price has a lot to show us, if we’re prepared to sign on for the ride. Strap yourself in, because sometimes there’s a spot of turbulence. But he’ll deliver you in the end, to the place your heart wants to go. You just have to have to let the heart lead you there.

05/23/12: What reality are you marrying? | 4 of Wands

Everybody knows, the Four of Wands is "the wedding card." You see it for literal marriage, celebrations and big events. But cards say what they want to say, how they want to say it.

Once, I got this card along with the Queen of Cups, who was frequently appearing as to me as a counselor around that time. So I asked, "Are you marriage counselor?"

I was stunned to learn she worked Hospice. I wasn’t expecting it! But come to think of it, death is a pretty darned big event, too. And depending perspective, maybe something to celebrate.

In the Legacy of the Divine deck, this card is shown as an outdoor retreat. After running across it, I started getting it to for the idea of a safe harbor, too. The Tarot fours are about stability, and the sense of a peaceful retreat from the artwork.

The New Vision Tarot kind of screams, "the other side of the story." What reality, what vision, myth, story or explanation for your world have you married? This filter is the other side of the story, the comfortable chair you settle into at the end of the day from which you view the world.

Does it serve you? Is it a happy union, one that still fits who you are? Is it comfortable and safe?

The story you tell yourself, the feelings that live deep inside your heart, the version of truth you initial to live with—this is what you commit to live. If you don’t like it, cancel the wedding! Break up and find you a better companion.
