Since I’ve been dabbling in learning the Lenormand, foxes like the little fellow here on the Ace of Pentacles have taken on a whole new level of significance. They’ve always felt sly, cunning and a little Mercurial, but I also think of them as clever business people now as well as tricksters. So I’m inclined to look especially to business for expressing this energy.

To me, this looks like it would be clever to get a fresh start financially, in whatever realm you’re considering doing so. Aces are the essence, the seed energy of any suit, and Pentacles are the realm of Earth energy and hence, physical manifestation. While this card can show up to announce a literal birth, it can also be a metaphorical birth. But the real distinguishing factor of this Ace is that we’re not talking about a feeling (Cups), an idea (Swords) or a new passion (Wands). We’re talking something real-world, in the flesh, on this earth plane.

So get something real, tangible and new going. Maybe it’s related to coin or maybe not, but it’s got great potential!

The reversed Two of Cups makes me wonder…is it time to break up? Not so much literally, although it could be for you! I don’t know.

More like something is not working here, in this relationship we’re looking at. Somebody is giving more than the other, someone is going through the motions without meaning it. There is a hollowness, an emptiness, a lack of real and true investment from one or both of the parties.

This union has not been completely dissolved or the card wouldn’t be showing up to begin with. Some sense of connection remains, but there’s a likelihood, the heart isn’t really in it. It may not have changed on paper but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t changed in reality.

Don’t go by what you want to see or what used to be, what you assumed always would be. Instead, listen not with your ears, but with your heart! If you are not feeling the love, it’s not because you’re overtired or emotionally spent. It’s because something the love has waned. Decide based on that, how you want to proceed (or not).

Well, the Seven of Swords certainly makes an interesting follow-up to the reversed Emperor. Don’t you think? Looks like an answer to the question, where has the Emperor’s power been going?

The thief grabs whatever he can and slides on out the door when nobody is watching. This guy isn’t even waiting for the cover of night! He seems not to have remorse, nor a lot of restraint, for that matter. He’s sloppy, dropping those blades on his way out. He’s not just taking one or two swords, but an armload. Perhaps his greed or sloppiness will be his undoing.

Or not, I don’t know. Where are the palace guards, anyway?!?

Be wary of people today who are out merely for themselves. If you find need to challenge one, look for greed or sloppiness as potential leverage points—in addition to the light of day. Attention is powerful here, because this type of ne’er-do-well relies on subversion and misdirection to achieve his aims. If you have integrity (i.e. nothing to fear from the light of attention), you are well-positioned to battle this hooligan because you can bet your ass, he’ll be trying to get that attention focused elsewhere.

The Emperor is  here reversed, and the first thing that comes to mind in such circumstance: who’s really in charge? Is the person seated upon the throne still the one calling the shots? Or does he merely think he is? Because from this vantage point, it appears his control is waning.

This isn’t some out-and-out coup d’état. More like a gradual erosion of authority. If you’re the Emperor, take stock of your power and enforce what you want to keep. And if you’re looking to unseat the Emperor, continue chipping away because that’s how he comes down. The once mighty, perhaps distracted by the grandiosity of their own adornment, will probably never see it coming. Just remember: simply because it’s “always been this way” doesn’t mean it always will be.

Okay, this Seven of Swords reversed is cracking me up; it’s like she’s about to lose her cloak! What’s really relevant though, is that she’s got her back to us and chosen to only expose herself to the scrutiny of the moon, hiding her activity under the veil of semi-darkness.

With the card inverted (and that big, full moon), I’m thinking her plan to stay unobserved is not fully successful. And if we’re in the position of evaluating her character or intentions, that’s a good thing.

Judge others by behavior. If words, emotional tone and behavior don’t match, something is amiss and it bears further scrutiny. If someone hides behind the cover of darkness or obscurity, there’s a reason.

Never disregard your discomfort. While a thief may believe everyone steals, don’t let the opposite hold true: not being a thief should not leave you with the impression no one is a theif! Never excuse or dismiss your intuition, nor let yourself be bullied into acquiescing to implied social norms that just don’t feel right. Those feelings you have are there for a reason, and that reason is to guide you.

For our purposes, I’m going to assume you are NOT the figure on the Seven of Swords, but maybe you’ve got one in your life…and that you’re not completely fooled! Good.
