The Shocking New Demi Lovato Details

2010-11-03T19:48:00.002-04:00

Enough was enough for Demi Lovato, 18, who checked into a medical center on Monday to get professional help because – as a source close to Lovato's family tells PEOPLE – "She fought through eating disorders and has struggled with cutting. [She] is taking control by getting help."

The source confirms that a fight with a dancer on tour was the catalyst for Lovato's decision to seek treatment. According to another insider, Lovato "doesn't have that same kind of love for life that she at one point had."

The insider tells PEOPLE she was already struggling with her weight when she entered her teens: "She definitely had body-image issues. She was always conscious of her weight."

"Like many other teenage girls, she struggled a lot to fit in and find acceptance," says a family friend. "She's very sensitive, very intuitive and that is part of what makes her a wonderful performer – very talented. It is double-edged sword. I think she felt that the hard time she had [in school], problems with kids who were incredibly vicious made her stronger. But none of us feels strong every day."

Lovato acknowledged those body issues to PEOPLE in September. "I have a tattoo on my rib and it says, 'You make me beautiful,'" she said. "There was a song that inspired me when I was younger and it helped me through a really rough time I used to have self-image issues."

The singer-actress added, "Feeling comfortable in your clothes is something I deal with to this day. I wish I had somebody I had to look up to when I was younger to stand up and say, 'Hey, I have fat days.' So I want to be able to start a foundation or something that's for girls feeling confident, to empower them."

Bullied as a child, she wanted to work with kids to let them know, "I've been through it and I came out a stronger person."

New Couple Alert - Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal

US Magazine reports - Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift spent the weekend together in NYC.

She first brought him to a Saturday Night Live taping.

Swift, 20, initially sat down with her bodyguard, but after the lights dimmed, he got up and Gyllenhaal, 29, occupied the seat.

Says a witness, "They chatted a lot, but no kissing or hand holding or anything affectionate."

The next day, they were spotted brunching and taking a stroll in Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood -- where Gyllenhaal's sister, Maggie, lives with her family.

Ryan Gosling was not a fan of the Mickey Mouse Club

2010-10-25T22:31:00.000-04:00

US Weekly reports - Starring on The Mickey Mouse Club alongside Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake as a kid had its downfalls, says Ryan Gosling.

"It was kind of depressing because when I got there, they realized that I wasn’t really up to snuff in comparison with what some of the other kids were able to do," he tells the November issue of Interview magazine.

During his two-year stint on the Disney revival, Gosling, now 29, danced backup for Aguilera, Spears and Timberlake.

"I remember one time they put four of us in a dance routine, but I was so off," he recalls. "I was on the end, so they just pushed the shot in closer on the other three guys to frame me out. I would just come in at the beginning of the show and then come back at the end, and occasionally I’d have a sketch here or there, but I didn’t end up working that much, which was disheartening."

J Lo's kids Gucci ads

2010-10-20T19:41:00.002-04:00

Welcome to the family business, Max and Emme Anthony! Jennifer Lopez’s 2-year-old twins joined their diva mom for a photo shoot on the beach in Malibu yesterday. The shoot was for Gucci, which, coincidentally, is launching a kids’ fashion line in November.

So are the adorable tots the new poster children for Gucci’s children’s line? J. Lo’s rep didn’t return our call and a rep for Gucci wouldn’t confirm or deny it, so we are guessing that’s a yes.

The shoot yesterday was truly a family affair. Proud dad Marc Anthony stood on the sidelines and helped play baby wrangler as the kids posed with their mom in a series of shots on the sand. At one point, he stood by the photographer to make sure the kids were looking at the camera and later chased Emme as she made a break for it (as toddlers are prone to do).

Beyonce is having a Baby!

2010-10-20T19:37:00.002-04:00

The 29-year-old singer is pregnant with her first child, the new Us Weekly reports.

Despite the happy news, no one was more surprised than the singer herself.

"B was shocked. She loves kids, but she wasn't ready to be a mother just yet," says a source of the singer, who married rapper Jay-Z in 2008. "She really wanted to get her album done and tour the world again."

Still, another insider says that the singer, who is in her first trimester, realizes that "this is a gift from God and she's so happy."

Friends of the couple are already expressing their well-wishes for the parents-to-be.

"Jay has been all about family since I met him, and he's always going to be," record executive Kevin Liles, who has known the rapper for years, tells Us. "I wish them the best."

2010-10-20T19:35:00.000-04:00

Millionaire Matchmaker's Patti Stanger doesn't want Kim Kardashian to follow in the footsteps of Jennifer Aniston or Jessica Simpson: she urges Kardashian to stay away from fellow serial dater John Mayer.
The New York Post reported Tuesday that Kardashian, who turns 30 Thursday, and Mayer, 32, recently hit the town in NYC. Although they brought pals along, the duo wanted "to see if they would hit it off," a source told the Post.
Even before the Post's report, Stanger was dead set against the match. "No! He's a douchebag," she told UsMagazine.com last month of the outspoken, quirky rocker.
"She'd chew him up and spit him out and chew him up again," Stanger adds of Kardashian, who's been single since splitting from Miles Austin last month.
