The caption itself will give you the initiative that what I am about to inscribe. This issue has been rising in my psyche since long time. But the constant demand of my soul to seek an answer to it had leaded me to write my thoughts on it. There have been many instances in bible where we learn that God has turned bad into good.

But I want to illustrate it with a story of a tea cups testimony.

A tea cup has a lot of experience to share. It goes like this when I was nothing but clay my master took me, rolled me, and patted me over and over and over. I yelled, “Leave me alone”. But he only smiled and said “Not yet”. Then I was placed on a spinning wheel and spun around and around. I screamed, “Stop it”, I am getting Dizzy. The Master nodded and said ‘Not Yet’. Then he put me in a oven, and I was terribly hot. I thought he would burn me to a crisp. I yelled and knocked on the door. I could see his lips moving as he said, ‘Not Yet’. Finally door was opened and I began to cool. Then suddenly he painted me all over, and the fumes were horrible. I cried, ‘Stop it! Stop it! .He only nodded: ‘Not yet’. I begged, pleaded, screamed, and cried. But he only said ‘Not yet’. Then at the last minute just when I knew I would never make it, he opened the oven and placed me on a shelf and said, ‘Look at yourself’. I was beautiful and really beautiful.

As I gazed at my beauty, my master said: ‘I know it hurt to be rolled and patted, but if I had left, you would have dried up. I know it hurt to be spun around and around. But if had stopped, you would have crumbled. I know it hurt in the oven; if I had stopped you would have cracked I know the fumes were bad when I painted you, if I had stopped you would have been hardened. But now you are a finished product. You are what I had in mind when I first began with you.

We do not know why we have to suffer. However, when we trust God in the midst of our suffering, he is able to make us stronger persons. God can turn our suffering into victory. Yes when we have reached the end of the rope, it is time to tie a knot and hang on.

REMEMBER! DELAYS ARE NOT REFUSALS

This particular thought has been striking me from past one week. Just say this twice or thrice in your heart, I swear you will have a special feeling for it. The thought hails from a book named “Jabez prayer”. A beautiful book which I recommend all my readers to have a copy of it. Let me get back to the fact that has been loving and attracting behind it.

AS a youngster we all have a struggling time. Everyone have different way of handling it, as some get carried away too much by this and some just look it as a stepping stone for success. If you are one who is struggling and finding it hard to survive, then my dear this particular thought is for you. Are you the one tired of being rejected? Are you the one being mocked by your friends for your fate? Are you the one thinking that everything in done with your life?. My dear let me tell you that “Delays are not refusals”. Yes you heard it right.

Sometime we are so much impatient that we want everything with ease and on time. My friend there is no joy then earning your bread rather than earning them by sympathy. Because sympathy will not be available everywhere you mess around but the passion inside you can lead you to next level of success which you lack today. Always think that it is this same refusal that makes you better and best. At this juncture I want to bring a story to your notice which fits well at this.

“Here is a man who has been laying at the foot of the river for almost 38 years. There is a secret behind this river is that once in a year this water may shuffled and whoever jumps in it may be healed. The healer is called as the Holy Ghost. Since he was alone and nobody was there to put him in the river he was left alone on that river for almost 38 years. Can you ever imagine what kind of thoughts will be running through his mind? A man who is waiting for long 38 years for his healing but still find himself among the cartoons. Now here comes the twist in the story as Jesus walks into the scene and helps this poor needy man. Wohh... What an end because had he being healed by the Holy Ghost by jumping into the river then nobody would have ever talked about this story and man. Since the master himself had entered into the scene the whole story was changed.”

Look the long 38 years delay has worked for his best. I was very much impressed by the man as he never had an give up spirit and lied on the shore of the river until he was healed. My dear friend the story is for you. Just don’t give up and say to your inner being that “Delays are not refusals and something best is yet to happen”.

Me: Tarsus

Greetings to you all from the author of this epistle, tarsus. Greetings from Gaysus who have been treating us well. (Romans 16:22, 23)

The meaning of the word Tarsus is “Third man or third party”. If we exclude the above verse there is no where else written about tarsus in the entire bible? But still this infamous character raises a lot of voice in this verse. According to this his statement is that he is the author of the epistle to Romans.

Is this statement of tarsus true? From the beginning of Roman epistle we learn that Paul ifs the au6thor of this epistle. Then how come tarsus makes such a comment? On what basic has tarsus had made a comment like this?

Even though it is unbelievable for us but the statement given by tarsus is right which is unknown to our Christian believers. Apostle Paul was the person who got the message by the Holy Spirit but it was recorded or written down by tarsus. For better understanding, Paul who was getting the message by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit was reciting that message by mouth and it was tarsus who was writing it down in their books.

Although there is no importance of this writer Tarsus but still holy spirit while inspiring Paul for this message never forgot to add the name of Tarsus in this book. What a miracle it is that the Holy Spirit acknowledges the part of tarsus in this epistle. If we look at the meaning of his name he is only the third party but still Holy Spirit gives him the honor he deserves. Roman epistle which deals with deep subjects has included the name of tarsus which is totally unimportant. From here we would think for our subject.

Different people when joined together constitute a church.
In ministry every one have equal and important role to play.
God wants the believers to work together rather than fighting with each other.
It is only by love and respect towards one another the church of Christ can be established.

Think that when war is going on in a state and the warrior says “I am going to fight for my state”. It is a good and positive statement but he alone cannot fight and win the battle. But when others in the state join shoulder to shoulder with him the task become gettable and easy. A church also functions in this same way. Yes God need great apostles like Paul. But the task of apostle Paul‘s can only be simplified once we respect the likes of tarsus which is unimportant in our eyes. Different roles and equal respect should be the motto of the church.

So let us leave behind every thoughts of high and low and start respecting one another which is the reason for our existence and smile. God bless you all.

I Will Be With You Even to The Ends of the Earth

“I WILL BE WITH YOU EVEN TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH…” (Mathew28:20)

Having a glance at the above bible verse will make you clear of what I am about to write. But let us think a bit different that what you are expecting is not what I am going to impart to your system, but rather something that you have heard from your childhood days. It was my earnest desire to always speak to such a subject which we are always familiar with.

Let me come to the matter. The above written verse is a verse which every Christian as a believer must have read and preached great sermons in their church. But let me ask all this preachers do you really know what you have preached from it. Did your preaching really remind them that how great really this promise is? If not, then I will count that it was not a worth talk. But let us together think on it.

It was a Promise which Jesus did to his disciples before Jesus was ascended to heaven. Now what is very interesting to watch is that it was the last dialogue of Jesus while he was in this earth as a human. Now what excites me most is that what is the last word you hear from a person who is about to die. Surely it is not something which you would like to remember in your life. But look how my Jesus responds. He leaves his disciples with greatest ever promise ever in the Bible. Because it is such a promise that your mother who carry you in her womb for 9 months also cannot promise. They cannot help you from there but my Jesus whom has promised to be with you forever will be with you until the death.

Woh! What a promise to have and an assurance to live with. Dear friend the same Jesus is their standing beside you and saying my son my daughter I am there in your entire hopeless situation. No matter who leaves you on the way but there is Jesus who knows you better than any one in this world. Why not my dear friends let us cling on to that “Biggest Hope” we have in Jesus.

Let’s forget what is burning within because there is a Jesus who has promised to be with you in what ever issue you are going through. So let’s pause for a while and submit our life to Jesus and say Goodbye to all our queries and agony and say there is a Jesus through whom we have hope and reconcile with the Lord who has bought us with his blood.

If you are the one thinking, after the reading, that I need a prayer, and then let us pause for a moment and recite after me this prayer. Abba father I come to your presence with my full heart. You know my heart and you know much I need you. Lord if it is you speaking to my heart through this article then lord change me and be with me and Holy Spirit comfort me. Thank you that you have loved me and reminded me of your love and concern. Jesus I love you. Amen... !!!

HOW WE CAN PLEASE GOD

Pleasing God is one of most important factor which every Christian focuses during their walk with the Lord. We all want to please God but how can we really reap the blessings of heaven is the thought which has been disturbing me from more than a week. As a nominal Christians we think that doing righteous thing will help us to inherit the blessings of heaven or being spiritual all the time will help us to do so.

But as I was going through the bible I found the key to please our God in not something which is mentioned above but is to love one another with your whole heart. In Hebrew also we find that love in considered as more valuable than every other factor, but that does not mean that the other factor does not have any meaning of its own. The same Hebrew also teaches that without faith nobody can please God. Then what makes love greater than faith. It’s because if you don’t have love then you don’t posses faith. I will make you clear with a small example.

One day a father took her twins 7year old daughters to seashore. The man wanted to test how much his daughters loves him. So knowingly he scolded them for a silly reason which made both of these kids face became dull. In a rage of anger they even said that we don’t love you. He made them sit on the bank of the sea and started to move inside the sea the kids watched their father going to the sea and drowning with every passing step. Suddenly one of the daughters ran into the sea and began to sink and shouted to father help me. Father look back and found his daughter drowning in sea and came for her rescue. After bringing her daughter back he asked the daughter sitting out side why you did not come to rescue me, but she did not respond and said I will not speak to you I hate you because you scold me. Then father turned to the daughter who came for his rescue she said, Dad I love you and I had full faith that if you see me drowning you will rescue me. Father hugged his daughter and left to their homes.

Look from the above statements of these two daughters we can understand it is the love which generates faith. If you have love then only you will be an able to produce faith in your life. Now I hope that you are clear in your minds that it takes love to please the heavenly father. Secondly I want to exhort you that it takes sacrifice to please God. Now when I spell the word sacrifice does not mean that you have to offer sacrifices in the temple as per the O.T. But as the word says offer your body as a living sacrifice. This I will rate as not second but I would like to keep it beside love for pleasing God. Because body is the temple where our God dwells and if your hearty and body is clean enough to invite Jesus to your family.

If not then friend then you need to check yourself and reconcile your relationship with the Lord. Because is a God of Holy and you really cannot mess with him. You can fool the whole world but you cannot fool the almighty. So it might be a warning for you friend “Come back” you won’t get another chance and this article is a source for you to relish your relationship with the Lord. Jesus is coming soon. AMEN.

Matthew 22:37-39

The Author of this book is Matthew. He was the tax collector and was a disciple of Jesus Christ. Here it is written about Love. We all know the meaning of Love. What is Love?

Love is the thing, which means lean towards somebody without any fear, with our whole personality or having a heartier jointment with somebody or a close relationship with someone on whom we can believe.

We can see many kinds of love on this earth.

Man’s love towards men:

- It is good but many a time it leads to destruction and disappointments. Many a time it depends on money

- Some time it could be carnal

- Some time it is heavenly

E.g. Samson and Delilah (judges 16:5)

It was the love based on money

Samson’s love towards Delilah was carnal (judges 16:4)

However, the better love is heavenly love

Look at good Samaritan his love was heavenly towards the wounded man.

Jesus loved Samaritan lady and showed her the way to eternity and holy life

Jesus loved Zakkius and gave him chance to come back and follow him whole-heartedly

Jesus loved the sinners of the world and gave his life to save them from the eternal fire of the hell to bring them a permanent abode in heaven.

Men’s love towards world:

This kind of love leads man to total destruction.

Because of the men’s love towards the world, men fell short of the glory of God.

E.g. Adam and eve

Lot and his wife (Gen. 19:17)

- Ananias and Safira loved the money (Acts 5:1_ff)

- Demas has loved the world and left Paul alone

People want to fill their lives with all the comfort of this world, but to achieve that most of the time they fall in such a ditch from where it becomes so impossible for them to come back to God and have peace.

Men’s love towards God:

This is a good type of Love. We can see in the life of the human being

- Some time men show this love out of fear of any harm

- Sometime to fulfill the ambitions of life they try to please the Lord with their pious acts.

- Sometimes we try to appease God

- Some time from the very depth of the heart. A man shows a great thirst to search the real God. A thirst to see the glorious face, which comes from the inner most part and expresses inside out.

- This is a real face of the human love towards God but rarely we can see this

E.g. Jacob- for his good being he made vow to the Lord

David’s Love was real love, in reality he wanted to see God, please God. His soul was panting to see the Lord

He was a man after god’s heart.

God’s love towards man:

This is the greatest and valuable love in this world the humankind could ever have.

The humankind and universe cannot pay for that.

- How much love God is showing towards men. For the protection he made and environment an atmosphere to protect the earth

- The whole cosmos is controlled by the Lord above all he loved us and gave his only begotten son Jesus to save us from our sins and to give us eternal life (John 3:16)

Conclusion:

So dear ones let us examine our life the kind of love we have and the way we want to love. Let us chose the right way come to the lord and experience his greatest love in this universe and be thankful and grateful to him.

Seasons of Life

Every change of season is a remainder of God’s promise to man

Just think how things would become if God didn’t paint nature‘s scenes with different colors as season in a year with infinite creativity and remarkable regularity.

Winter, a season of reverence. Heavy snow and harsh icy winds sting our faces and steal our smiles. There are times in our lives when we walk on with grim determination, sometimes alone and isolated, sometimes discontentment and discouraged.

A season to remind ourselves that behind those thick gray clouds and snow there exist a personal caring God.

As weeks and days go by, the cold winter is about to release itself to spring, a season of Hope, a season of refreshing and encouraging renewal of life.

A season when colorful flowers blooms, bird’s chirps and built nests, the grass grow greener and nature comes alive.

A season that brings back the color of life and to realize that the same Lord renews the trees with buds and blossom is ever ready to renew our life with hope and courage.

Summertime, a time of relaxation and rest. There is nothing like those lazy hazy days of summer, a season that adds a little leisure to our life.

A season of fun and much awaited and needed season after a hectic and busy season of life to enjoy the labor we toiled.

A season of mental rest, a quiet confidence in the living Lord.

Finally, we stroll through autumn, a season with frosty morning that brings with it a flood of memories.

A refreshing change from a hot afternoon and sweltering nights, a season when foliage changes, weather changes and time changes.

A season of reflection, a time to gain new perspective, to stroll along the back lane of our memories.

A season of life to think about what, where and why to assist us in evaluating the way we were and establish the way we want to be.

As the season of life roll by, we may face discouragement, loneliness, joy and sadness, but behind every black cloud, there is a positive aspect.

Seasons are designed to deepen us, to instruct us in the wisdom and the ways of our God to help us grow strong.

Let each of these seasons give hope for the discouraged, a refuge for the hurting, and a challenge for the weary and a friend for the lonely.

Jude 14 Enoch Prophesied about the Lords coming to execute the judgment on all and to convict everyone of all the deeds of ungodliness that they have committed.

Prophecy is a spiritual utterance used by the prophet of old time but in this end time, God has promised it to our sons and daughters by pouring out his spirit on all flesh and ON US.

According to Numbers 12:6 God speaks to his people in dreams, he reveals the things in visions

Dream comes for some immediate doing.

Therefore, the old men in their old age shall dream dreams and predict the coming things. We may think they are done with their life and health but God is going to use each old men by the mighty out pouring of his Holy Spirit for a great task in the end days like. Because he has promised to pour out his spirit upon al flesh in the end days.

Young Man Shall See Visions-

It is one of the methods of revelation

Reve- 1:12 visions reveal something supernatural of unseen world.

2 Cor 12:1-2 vision of unseen world

Gen 46:2 the visions are to reveal something that is secret to strenghthen his dear ones

Acts 10:3-11 it is symbolic of very unnatural

So in the end days the young men of our ages, instead looking at world glamour and charm they will reveal the very unspoken and supernatural things of the heaven. Because God says at the end days I will Pour out my spirit upon all flesh.

All are one and equal n the sight of the Lord

Our Lord never does and any Partiality to the people.

Our God is an impartial God

Because God days I will pour out my Spirit upon al flesh in end days.

Conclusion: So dear ones let us prepare ourselves for a great day of the Lord. Make ourselves ready and available unto the hands of the Lord so that he may pour out his spirit on us and we become a great channel for that final outpouring.

THe Day of The Lord

SCIENTIFIC EXPERTS from around the world are predicting that 3 years from now, all life on Earth could well end. Some are saying it will be humans that would set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it’ll be God himself who would press the stop button. The following are some likely arguments as to why the world would end by the year 2012.

Reason one: Mayan calendar
The first to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things -- building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and sacrificing virgins. Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it’s likely they’ve got the end of the world right as well.

Reason two: Sun storms
Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery. Our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic and it’s supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the earth with lot of radiation energy. It’s been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse and calculations suggest it’ll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012.

Reason three: The atom smasher
Scientists in Europe have been building the world’s largest particle accelerator. Basically, its a 27 km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it’s properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They’re predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

Reason four: The Bible says it
If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn’t bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act as well. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between good an evil, has been set for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese Book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

Reason five: Super volcano
Yellowstone National Park in United States is famous for its thermal springs and old faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple -- it’s sitting on top of the world’s biggest volcano and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we’re many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

Reason six: The physicists
This one’s case of bog -- simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berkely University have been crunching the numbers.They’ve determined that the earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. DEFINITION

Son of God in Hebrew means ‘god’ or ‘god-like’. Son of God or its equivalents (‘the Son’ or ‘my Son’) occur more than 124 times in the New Testament, and may be the foremost Christological category in each of the gospels.

The term Son of God can be seen in Old Testament as well as in New Testament. There are some differences in the usage of this term in both the Testaments. They are mentioned further.

SON OF GOD IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

The notion of divine sonship appears in the Old Testament with regard to three persons or groups of persons: angels (Gen 6:2; Job 1:6; Dan 3: 25), Israel (Ex4:22-23; Hos11:1; Mal 2:10) and the king (2Sam 7:14; Ps 2:7; 89:26-27).

Angels or the Heavenly Hosts:- In Gen 6:1-4, we find a repugnant myth to the effect that the ‘sons of God’ once descended from heaven and had intercourse with women. Ps 82 appears to reflect a myth about the high god judging certain arrogant gods, sons of the Most High (v.6), in the divine assembly.

Israel:- The people of God that is Israel is also called God’s ‘Son’ (Ex 4:22-23; Jer 31:9,20; Hos 11:1). God is the ‘Father’ of the people (Deut 32:6; Jer3:4….). This usage of the name ‘Son(s)’ of God designates Israel as God’s chosen and protected people.

The King:- In the Near East, the king could be called ‘Son of God’ or even ‘God’. It was more common to refer to the king in Israel – Judah as the ‘Son of God’. The king as son of God stands closer to the meaning of the title in the New Testament than do references to angels or even to the people as a whole. It is clear that the Old Testament does not speak explicitly of the Messiah or of a specifically messianic figure as Son of God.

The Old Testament and Jewish concept of the Son of God is essentially characterized, not by the gift of a particular power, nor by a substantial relationship with God by virtue of divine conception; but by the idea of election to participation in divine work through the execution of a particular commission, and by the idea of strict obedience to the God who elects.The Hellenistic concept stands in tension with the NT emphasis on the uniqueness of Jesus’ divine sonship as well as with the NT insistence that the divine sonship of Jesus involves primarily suffering and death rather than the performance of miracles.

SON OF GOD IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

The Use of the Title by Individual New Testament Authors is as follows:-

MARK: ‘Son of God’ appears in Marks Gospel only eight times and ‘Father’ (referring to God) only four. The title ‘Son of God’ is a clue to the identity of Jesus in the gospel of Mark.

MATHEW: According to Mathew’s gospel, ‘Son of God is the only adequate Christological confession, and one can come to this understanding of Jesus solely through divine revelation (Mt 16:13-17; 27:51-54). In Mathew it is not the demons but only the disciples who proclaim that Jesus is the Son of God(Math 14:33; 16:16). In Mathew 28:18-20 it is seen that not only all authority is given to the Son, but He is named in the Trinity on equality with the other persons of the God head.

LUKE: The divine sonship of Jesus receives relatively less attention in Luke than the other Gospels. Luke’s allusions to Jesus as Son of God are for the most part taken over from tradition, and in fact Luke omits some references to Jesus’ divine sonship found in Mark( Mk 13:32; 15:39).

JOHN: John’s gospel makes much of the Son of God title and properly, since it is the gospel of His deity. In that gospel the Son - which evidently is an abbreviation of the full title the Son of God – executes judgment (5:22); He has life in Himself and quickeneth whom He will (5:21, 26).

In John, God is called ‘Father’ about 120 times. Jesus is ‘(the) Son’\ ‘Son of God’ 27 times. The co-relation Father\Son suggests itself. The full title ‘Son of God’ is found primarily in confession. Like formulas (1:34, 49; 20:31; also in 1Jn 4:15; ch.5; 2Jn 3). While Son of God is associated with ‘the Father’ only twice (Jn5:25; 10:36), ‘the Son,’ which is found 18 times, is virtually always co-related with the idea of God as Father. The intimacy between the Father and the Son is there by emphasized (Jn 1:18; 3:35-36; 5:19-26; 6:40; 8:35-36; 14:13; 17:10). The Son does only what the Father wants Him to do; He is thus a true revelation of God.

PAUL: The apostle Paul began his incomparable ministry with no uncertain word as to the Son of God. It is written of him: ‘And straight –way he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God,’ and his continued emphasis upon the deity of the Son is well set forth in Rom 1:1-14.

CHRIST AS THE SON OF GOD

Christ did not often designate Himself as Son of God, though He accepted that address whenever it was offered to Him by others. Son of God is the name given to Him (Lk 1:35) by the heavenly voice at His baptism and transfiguration (Mk1:11; 9:7), by Peter in his moment of illumination (Mt16:16), by the demons (Mk5:7) and the centurion (Mk15:39). It is only in Mk 15:39 that the secret of Jesus’ status as Son of God is fully revealed to humans.As the centurion faces the cross he declares, ‘Truly this man was the Son of God.’ Mark indicates that Jesus is the Son of God as one who suffers and dies in obedience to God. In Math 4:1-11 Jesus was tempted to manifest His divine sonship through the performance of spectacular signs, but He chose to demonstrate His sonship through submission to the Father’s will. The point of the first two temptations is not whether Jesus believes that God’s miraculous power is present in the Son, but whether He will be disobedient to His Father by attempting to use that power apart from the fulfillment of His specific commission as the Son. Jesus asserted that He is the Son of God when He was led to the charge of blasphemy in His trial (Lk 22:67-71). In this instance He was asked two direct questions, namely, ‘Art thou the Christ?’ and ‘Art thou the Son of God?’ It is possible that, in the estimation of the Jews, to claim to be Messiah was not as great an evil as to claim to be the Son of God. He was condemned for blasphemy because of His unqualified assertion that He is the Son of God. John adds in Jn 5:18, ‘Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He not only had broken the Sabbath, but said also that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God,’ and, again in 10: 33, ‘The Jews answered Him saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because thou, being a man makest thyself God.’

CONCLUSION

As a conclusion it is evident that Christ spoke repeatedly of God as His Father, and though He reminded His followers that God is their Father, His own Sonship is a reality which He never classed with others. Jesus is the Son of God not as a miracle worker, but in the obedient fulfillment of His task- precisely His task of suffering.

DIETRICH BONHOFFER

His Earlier Life

Dietrich Bonhoffer was Born in Breslau On February 4, 1906, the son of a university professor, who was an authority on psychiatry and neurology. As was true to the many of the theologians of the 20th century theologians, a tradition of theology was to be found in Bonhoffers family. At the age of twelve Dietrich became interested in reading theology, at Berlin in 1924 he studied under the leading liberal thinkers of that day. Following his studies Bonhoffer in 1927 served a Germen speaking congregation in Barcelona Spain for a short time, before returning to Berlin In 1929. There at the age of 24 and after completing his inaugural dissertation, Act and being: Transcendental Philosophy and ontology and Systematic Theology, he became lecturer in systematic theology at the university of Berlin (1930).

Life Changing Events

Hitler’s rise to power in 1932 changed the course of the Bonhoffer’s life Eberhard Betheg remarked, it was “robbed of its initiative by Nazi History”. This event triggered a crisis within German Lutheranism . The young theologian aligned himself with the confessing church, which broke ranks with the state church over the issue of Nazi ideology. Bonhoeffer’s academic career was short lived, becoming a victim of the religious and Political turmoil in his home land. In 1933, having come to believe that his career has lost its proper meaning. Bonhoffer abandoned academic, taking a leave of absence from the university and moving to London, where he served as the pastor of the two of the church there. Here he attempted to explain to British Christians and the world alliance of church as the nature of struggle that he was developing in the Germen Church.

As war appeared inevitable Bonhoffer left Germany in 1939 at the urging of his American friends, to avoid the problems that his pacifism would cause him . But soon he sensed the compulsion to return to the oppressed Christians in his homeland. The dilemma with which he struggled at this time led Bonhoffer to set aside his earlier pacifism and to become involved in a daring plot to murder Hitler.

His Last Breath

On April 5, 1943, the Gestapo arrested Bonhoffer along with his sister and her husband. In Sept. 1943 the Gestapo discovered certain documents that confirmed the involvement of Bonhoffer and others in the assassination plot. At 9 April 1945, a court martial met and sentenced him to death. Early in the morning Bonhoffer was executed to death.

His Theology

Bonhoffer was a theologian but not a systematic theologian in the traditional sense. Not only his life but with his work was interrupted and finally cut short by the tragic events in the Germany in the 1930s and 1940s. As was his life, so also his writings are fragmentary. Two of his most important treaties Christ the Center and Ethics, are reconstructions, the first is from lecture notes recorded by his students and the second from incomplete manuscript concealed from the Getastapo. As a result as Heinrich Ott rightly concluded, “neither as whole nor in its parts in Bonhoffers work something is completed”.

Further, Bonhoeffer did not live long enough to systematize his own thinking. Rather, he continued to grow, developed and changed in accordance with his experiences. The most striking example of a profound change in his setting aside his earlier pacifism in order to join in the plot to assassinate the chancellor of his country.

Bonhoeffer’s Christology

Among his most fruitful insights were his total rejection of natural theology, and of a religious apriori in man the reality of Gods absolute self discloser in Christ; the historical and present Christ as God revealed incognito; Christ interpreted in terms of the man for others and particularly he much discussed and misunderstood concepts of religious and worldly Christianity and man of age.The formulation of this central Christological question is crucial for an understanding of the thinking of the German theologian. Bonhoeffer never debated the presence of Jesus Christ. He sensed this presence in the manifold and varied situation in which he lived. But at the different stages in his pilgrimage he wrestled with differing focal points of Christ’s presence and reality. At the beginning of his academic

career , for example he developed a ecclesiological focus, finding the presence of Christ in the church, understood in terms of community. This research formed the basis for Bohoeffer’s repeated emphasis on the Christian life as the involvement in the messianic sufferings of Christ. The theme of the presence of Christ in the church was joined at end of his life by another, which became his legacy for subsequent theology. As his letters and papers from prison indicates, while a captive of the Hitler regime He engaged in an intense struggle with the question of the presence of Christ in the world .

Bonhoeffer says that the ultimate reality is God only. But God as the ultimate reality is no other than he who shows forth , manifest and reveals himself, that is to say God in Jesus Christ, and from this it follows that the question of good can find its answer only in Christ.

Conclusion

From an early age, Bonhoffer had sensed an interest in theology. In the end, however, he discovered that he had been called a different vocation, that of sacrificing his life for the faith. As Leibholz concluded, Bonhoffers life and death belongs to the annals of Christian martyrdom. Even though he was an well learned man but his circumstances never allowed him to come up with certain concrete theology. Spiritually speaking getting death, by plotting the assassination, was not good to accept him. But his heart to identify himself with the oppressed Christian of his time is enough to show his concern for the Godly people. Alas! A good theologian a good thinker, a well respected and accepted man got an drastic end

SOME CONCEPTS ABOUT CREATION

IN THE BEGINNING

All human societies, including our own, tell stories of how the world began. Such stories are almost infinitely varied in detail, but they tend to include some basic themes. Many accounts begin with earth, or with earth retrieved from water. In some of them gods and people and animals emerge from the earth (just as plants still do). In others the process begins when a creature, such as a crab or tortoise, dives into a primeval ocean and brings up a small piece of earth from which the universe is created. Myths of these kinds are common among American Indians and aboriginal Australians (who place before the moment of creation a period called 'the time of dreaming').

EGGS AND EMPTINESS

Several mythologies, including one developed in China, begin with the splitting in two of a cosmic egg. In the Chinese version this is followed by the growth of a giant whose limbs eventually form the observable world. A dismembered giant features also in the Germanic (or Norse) account of creation. The Germanic version begins with a magic emptiness, one of the most characteristic features of creation stories. The Hebrew imagines a first moment when all is void, with darkness on the face of the deep. The Greek story begins with Chaos, meaning a gaping emptiness. In Egypt and Mesopotamia a boundless ocean sets the primal scene.

DIVINE DISORDER

In societies where many tribal groups have coalesced into a single civilization, each bringing their own gods, there tends to be a dramatic series of encounters between the contending deities - sometimes sexual, but more often murderous and even cannibalistic - before humans appear in the story. This is true of Egypt, Mesopotamia and above all Greece. Japanese mythology also provides a complex account of the early affairs of the gods, while hardly noticing the arrival of mankind. In the multi-faceted mind of India, several creation stories are able to co-exist. An entirely different theme emerges with the ancient Hebrews. They declare, briefly and to the point, that God did it.

THE CREATION MYTHS OF INDIA

The creation myths of India, in keeping with the complexities of Hinduism, range from familiar themes such as dismembered giants and magical eggs to the most delicately expressed doubts as to the possibility of knowledge on such a matter. In an early story “Purusha” is a primal man sacrificed by the gods as the act of creation. The sky comes from his head, the earth from his feet, and the sun from his eye and the moon from his mind. The four castes of Hindu society also derive from his body. The birds and animals come from the fat which drips from him during the sacrifice. A much later Indian story involves the god Brahma. Beginning from nothing, he goes through a lengthy process. First he creates, by thought alone, the waters. In them he deposits his seed, which grows into a golden egg. He himself is born in the egg. After a year, again by thought alone, he splits the egg in two. The halves become, in the usual way, heaven and earth. But Indian philosophy also produces a less literal response to these eternal mysteries. One of the hymns in the Rig-Veda speculates on various cosmic forces which might have fashioned the universe. It concludes with a passage of most sophisticated skepticism, beginning: 'But, after all, who knows, and who can say whence it all came, and how creation happened.'

CREATION STORY OF CHINA

Of various creation stories which evolve in China, the most striking is that of “P'an Ku.” He is hatched from a cosmic egg. Half the shell is above him as the sky, the other half below him as the earth. He grows taller each day for 18,000 years, gradually pushing them apart until they reach their appointed places. After all this effort “P'an Ku” falls to pieces. His limbs become the mountains, his blood the rivers, his breath the wind and his voice the thunder. His two eyes are the sun and the moon. The parasites on his body are mankind.

GREECE CREATION NARRATIVES

The Greeks acquire a vague attachment to a great many different gods during their gradual movement, as a group of Indo-European tribes, into the region of modern Greece. The result is an extremely complex account of how everything began, with deities jostling for a role. Zeus, ruler of the sky, eventually emerges as the chieftain of the gods. It is likely that he is the original god whom the Greeks brought with them. But in the first Greek account of the beginning of the universe, written down by Hesiod in about 800 BC, Zeus arrives late on the scene. The story begins, like so many others, with a gaping emptiness, Chaos. Within this there emerges “Gaea,” the earth. “Gaea” gives birth to a son, “Uranus,” who is the sky. The world now exists; earth and heaven, and together “Gaea and Uranus” provide it with a population, their children. First “Gaea” produces the “Titans,” heroic figures of both sexes, but her next offspring are less satisfactory; the “Cyclops,” with only one eye in the middle of their foreheads, are followed by unmistakable monsters with a profusion of heads and arms. “Uranus,” appalled by his offspring, shuts them all up in the depths of the earth. “Gaea's” maternal instincts are offended. She persuades the youngest “Titan,” “Cronus,” to attack his father. He surprises him in his sleep and with a sharp sickle cuts off his genitals, which he throws into the sea. “Cronus” frees his brothers and sisters from their dungeon, and together they continue to populate the world. But an inability to get on with their offspring characterizes the males of this clan. “Cronus,” who has six children with his sister “Rhea,” eats each of them as soon as it is born. Once again maternal instincts intervene. To save her youngest child, “Rhea” wraps a stone in swaddling clothes. “Cronus” swallows the bundle and “Rhea” sends the baby to foster parents. He is “Zeus.” As an adult he overwhelms his father, defeats all the other “Titans” in a great war, and then settles upon Mount Olympus to preside over a world which has at last achieved certain calm. During this, imperceptibly, mankind has arrived on earth- it is not clear how. But men are certainly there, because a free-thinking “Titan,” Prometheus, smuggles them the valuable gift of fire. These first men are not considered direct ancestors by most Greeks, and there are several versions of how the present race of humans originated. One is that “Zeus,” exasperated by Prometheus, sends a flood to drown mankind. Two humans escape in an ark. When the flood has subsided, the oracle at Delphi tells these two to cast behind them the bones of their first ancestor. That ancestor, they reason, is “Gaea,” the earth. They throw stones over their shoulders, and from each stone a human being is created.

JAPANESE STORY OF CREATION

The Japanese story of creation leads not so much to the first man as to the first emperor - not surprisingly, since the legends are collected and written down early in the 8th century AD by command of the imperial family, eager to establish a direct link back to the gods. It transpires that the gods have a lengthy and complex existence before we reach the emperor. The story begins with a floating amorphous mass, similar to the slithery substance of an egg but moving more like a jelly-fish. From this there emerges a reed-like object, which produces eight generations of brother-and-sister gods. The eighth pair of gods is “Izanagi (The Male Who Invites) and Izanami (The Female Who Invites).” Standing on the Floating Bridge of Heaven, they lean down to stir the brine of the sea with a lance. The liquid begins to curdle and forms an island. The two gods come down on to it, and build a Central Pillar. Behind this they come together, in a delightful passage of divine innocence, to try and create more islands and gods. Their first products are flawed (a child which cannot stand at the age of three, an island composed of foam). This turns out to be because the woman spoke first in their sexual encounter. With due formality established, they create many gods - including those of the eight islands of Japan. The gods proliferate (soon there are 8 million) and they have many dramatic adventures, establishing such basic patterns of life as day and night, summer and winter. Eventually the Sun goddess sends her grandson, “Ninigi,” to rule the Central Land of Reed Plains. This is Japan. “Ninigi” is granted three treasures as symbols of his rule- a jeweled necklace (symbolizing benevolence), a mirror (purity) and a sword (courage). His great-grandson “Jimmu-Tenno” is listed in Japanese legend as the first emperor. A necklace, mirror and sword are still the Japanese imperial symbols, kept in an inner sanctuary of Shinto shrines.

NORSE LEGENDS

The main northern story of creation is probably shared by all the people forming one distinct part of the Indo-European family - the German tribes, who gradually move south through Europe from the shores of the Baltic. But it is in Scandinavia that the Germanic legends are eventually recorded and preserved, in the stories of the Norse gods. In the beginning there is nothingness. Gradually this space fills with water, which freezes and then partially melts. From the drops of melting water a giant in human form emerges. This is “Ymir.” From his armpit a man and a woman appears-giants like himself, but capable of producing others by more conventional means. Meanwhile a cow has licked the melting ice and has revealed another giant, from whom the god “Odin” (or Wotan) descends. Odin and his brothers kill the aged Ymir. Of his flesh they make the earth, of his skull the heavens, of his blood the sea, of his bones the mountains and of his hair the trees. Odin builds a place for himself and the other gods to dwell in, linked to earth by the bridge of the rainbow, and he arranges for the maggots in Ymir's corpse - who have taken stunted human shape as dwarfs - to remain in what is now his body, beneath the surface of the earth. On earth itself Odin and his colleagues breathe life into two tree trunks, turning them into ask and “Embla,” the first man and woman.

THE ULTIMATE BIBLE STORY

In this account there is only one flaw. God's world sounds perfect, and surely must be so. But we know it is not. There are such things as disease, guilt, violence, sexual shame, even death. How can this be? The Hebrew story provides an immediate answer in the second chapter of Genesis. Everything is indeed perfect in the Garden of Eden, and would have remained so if Eve had not tempted Adam into eating the fruit of a tree which God had forbidden them to touch. Its fruit brings an awareness of good and evil, which leads to shame. After this act of disobedience Adam and Eve are in the real world. What happens there is their fault, not God's.

He takes the punishment for all the people who believes in him and says forgive your sinner and so I will forgive you all. He says those who want redemption, forgive your sinner as I have taken all the punishment what was to be given by you to your sinners, if you forgive your sinners, believe me I have taken all your punishments too. If you do not believe on my sacrifice, your sin still remains on you, your ancestor could not pay the debt of sin and it comes unto you and your sin will be carried by your son too.

Before going through the Bible one should remember he should read by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Satan also takes the help of Bible to make the followers of the Jesus fall into sin.

Always keep Jesus with you while going through the Bible, allow the holy spirit of Jesus dwell into your heart and then read.

Actually the relation has come to an end my ear cannot hear its bellow, I cannot feel whether the cow is happy or feeling hungry, after some time my eyes will also not see it forever, so in this way all the relation from me will be finished
The same thing had happened when Adam ate the fruit of knowledge, God gave Adam all the liberty in the Garden of Eden, except to eat the fruit of knowledge, and God said THE DAY IN WHICH YOU WILL EAT THE FRUIT OF KNOWLEDGE YOU WILL DIE. Adam did not die the same day but the relation between God and him became same as the cow.
We cannot feel God’s pains or happiness or his will, we cannot feel whether he is merciful or what is the condition? Whether God loves us or not? But the relation begins in Jesus, Jesus said to one of his disciples when he asked Jesus to make him show God the father, Jesus said when you see me then why are you so anxious to see God. That is why Jesus said those who see me see God. All the quality what you see in Jesus is same as his father the God.

Satan always tried Jesus to separate from God which was death. Jesus also accepted death for paying the debt of our sin as the wages of sin is death, Jesus was ready to take all the sin of human being and he took. Satan was very happy in his achievement for three days, But God is true Judge he raised Jesus from death on the 3rd day and gave all authority and power to his son.

Dear friends and readers. Christianity has come a long way in past few centuries. The rapid growth of the churches and masses coming to know Jesus Christ is something amzing. I think it is happening after over a decade. At this point i feel that people should be aware of good and right teachings of bible and should get good expo of the word of God.
Centuries ago wrong teachings were a great matter of worry for then christianity. In todays christian world too it is a big challange.
So after thinking a lot I though to write on some known christian heresies in coming one weak. I will request your earnest reading and comments over the articles so that others can also get an idea over it. The aim is we could see and estblish such a community which is builded upon a solid doctrine and teachings of Christ.

The Rapture of the Church

What is the Rapture of the Church?
The word "rapture" does not occur in the Bible. The concept of the Rapture, though, is clearly taught in Scripture. The Rapture of the church is the event in which God removes all believers from the earth in order to make way for His righteous judgment to be poured out on the earth during the Tribulation period can be meant as “the day of the Lord”. The Rapture is described primarily in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:50-54. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 describes the Rapture as God resurrecting all believers who have died, giving them glorified bodies, and then departing the earth with those believers who were still alive, who have also been given glorified bodies. "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever" (1Thessalonians 4:16-17).

1 Corinthians 15:50-54 focuses on the instantaneous nature of the Rapture and on the glorified bodies which the Lords people will receive. As Paul says that it is a mystery "Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed - in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed" (1 Corinthians 15:51-52). The Rapture is the glorious event for which the Lords people are longing from the ages and we should all be longing for. We will finally be free from sin and in God's presence forever. This will happen at “the day of the Lord”.

Doctrine- Virgin Birth of Jesus

The Doctrine: The term ‘virgin birth’ is used to refer to the virginal concept of Jesus, the belief that He was conceived by the Virgin Mary without any physicl relationship. The virgin birth is taught clearly only in two passages: Math 1:18-25 and Lk 1:26-38. These passages teach that the birth of Jesus resulted from a miraculous conception. He was conceived in the womb of the Virgin Mary by the power of Holy Spirit without male seed. This is the doctrine of virgin birth.
Significance- The doctrinal importance of the virgin birth is seen in at least three areas.
1. It shows that salvation ultimately must come from the Lord. Just as God had promised that the ‘seed’ of the woman (Gen 3:15) would ultimately destroy the serpent, so God brought it about by His own power, not through mere human effort. Paul also affirms the significance of Jesus’ birth.
2. The virgin birth made possible the uniting of full humanity in one person. This was the means God used to send His Son (Jn 3:16; Gal 4:4) into the world as a man. His full humanity would be evident to us from the fact of his ordinary human birth from a human mother, and his full deity would be evident from the fact of his conception in Mary’s womb by the powerful work of the Holy Spirit.
3. The virgin birth also makes possible Christ’s true humanity without inherited sin. Lk 1:35 connects the conception by the Holy Spirit with the Holiness or moral purity of Christ, this helps us to understand that through the absence of a human father, Jesus was not fully descended from Adam and that this break in the line of descent was the method God used to bring it about that Jesus was fully human yet did not share inherited sin from Adam.
4. The nature of grace. The birth of Christ in which the initiative and power are all of God, is an apt picture of God’s saving grace in general of which it is a part. It teaches us that salvation is by God’s act, not our human effort.
Virgin Birth and Incarnation are Distinct- The virgin birth does not of itself prove the deity of Christ. Arians(who deny Christ’s deity), adoptionists(who deny the incarnation) and Muslims have all traditionally believed in the virgin birth. The virgin birth is a supernatural conception which shows Jesus to be someone very special. Conversely, while it can be argued that the incarnation required a supernatural birth, this does not necessarily mean a virgin birth.

Relationship between the Virgin birth and the Incarnation- The virgin birth is better seen by Barth, as a sign point to the incarnation. Jesus’ miraculous birth points to the fact that He was a unique person. The virgin birth is criticized by J.A.T. Robinson, among others, because it makes Jesus different from us, not truly human. In response to this, it is said that the role of Christ requires that there should be both continuity and discontinuity between Him and us; That He should be one of us (Heb 2:10-18) and yet also different from us.
Conclusion- There is a variant reading of Jn 1:13 which affirm that Christ was ‘born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.’ In the virgin birth, the initiative and the sovereignty lie with God. Jesus is a miraculous gift to humanity, not initially the product of any normal human activity or process.

Drink, Steal, Swear and Lie

A guy in Albuquerque has a motto he lives by everyday. He said listen carefully and live by these 4 rules :
Drink, Steal, Swear, Lie.
I was shaking my head 'NO', but he then told me to listen while he explained his four rules. So here they are :

1. "Drink" from the "everlasting cup" every day.
2. "Steal" a moment to help someone that is in worse shape than you are.
3. "Swear" that you will be a better person today than yesterday.
4. And last, but not least, when you "lie" down at night thank God you live on this beautiful planet and have freedom.

I am not as good as I should be,
I am not as good as I could be .
but THANK GOD
I am better than what I used to be!!!

Kyrios: Jesus the Lord

Introduction: The designation expresses as no other the thought that Christ is exalted to God’s right hand glorified and one intercedes for men before the father. In designating the Jesus as Kyrios the Christians declared that He is not only a part of divine Heilsgeschichte In the past not just the object of the future hope but a living reality in present, so alive that the believers prays to him and the church appeals to him in worship to bring their prayers before God the father and make them effective.

Kyrios-Christose and the Deity of Jesus: Because the designation Kyrios for Jesus developed into an Christological title especially in the environment of Hellenism it is proper that we investigate its secular and religious significance in the area out side Christianity.This part deals with the titles referring to the pre existence of Jesus. The work and person of Christ always belongs together. The faith that with the name kyrios God gave Christ his own authority. In application of the Kyrios title to Jesus is that the NT can in principle apply to Him all the OT passages which speak of God. When Jesus quotes the OT the word Kyrios refers to God. But NT letters apply such OT passages to Jesus. The Greek concordance indicates that in the NT the OT Kyrios passages can automatically refers to Jesus. This is the case far instance with (Isa.45:23) which are quoted in Philip. 2:10ff. The striking example is the quotation of Ps.102:25ff in (Heb.1:10ff). The OT speaks of God the Father but as the result of name kyrios to Jesus the writer of Hebrew does not hesitate to address Him with the words of Psalms and thus to designate him the creator of heaven and the earth (Heb. 1:8) says expressly that the passage refers to the Son. It’s an evident fact that after the death of Jesus the first Christians without any hesitation transferred to Him what the OT says about Gods. Faith in deity of Christ originates from (Philip. 2:9) Christ became equal with God for the first time with His exaltation. The same idea is presupposed in (Romans 1:4) according to it, Christ was Gods Son already at the beginning but since his resurrection he is the Son of God in power. Son in power is clearly synonymous with Kyrios. The NT undoubtedly presupposes the deity of Christ. Paul’s use of the two part confession in (1 cor. 8:6) the pre-existence activity of Christ as mediator of creation is mentioned only in terms of Kyrios title also (Rev. 3:14, 1 cor. 8:6).

Conclusion: The designation of Jesus as Kyrios has the further consequences that all the titles of honor for God himself may be transferred to Jesus. once he was given the name which is above every name , Gods own name (Lord, Adoni, Kyrios) then no limitations at all could be set for the transfer of divine attribute to Him.

God: Brahaman or Para Brahaman

Brahmabandhab Upadhyay
His Life: Brahmabandhab is one of the most important figures in Indian Christian Theology. He lived in a time when theological turmoil in Hinduism was perhaps at its greatest.was born on 2 Feb. 1861 in a Brahmin family in Khanyan, a small village about 30 miles north of Calcutta. In 1888, when he was 27 years old Brahmabandhab went to Hyderabad in Sindh to teach Sanskrit at the Union Academy. There he met two missionaries of the CMS, Rodman and Heaton, who gradually led him to Christ. On Feb. 26, 1891 he accepted baptism.
His Understanding of God and Christ: For him God is not Ishwara but the very highest – Brahman or Para Brahman – not Saguna Brahman as some have tried to understand. Brahmabandhab is keen to understand god as Nirguna Brahman. Brahmabandhab’s concept is basically Trinitarian. He knew that this is a mystery, which can be known only through the revelation in Christ. Christ’s uniqueness lies in ‘his unfolding the mystry of God’s inner life’. Brahmabandhab does not use the term avatara for Christ. This is deliberate. For him avatara of the Hindu deities is qualitatively different from the incarnation of Christ. In human beings the first sheaths controlled by personality (aham), in the incarnated son they are activated by the Logos or the cit (or the revelation of God’s inner being) of the Trinity. Hence they are very different from the avataras, of the Hindu puranas. For this reason Upadhyay calls Christ often as narahari (nara= man, hari is the proper name for Vishnu) God- Man. Many Christians took offense at his use of Krishna’s name for Christ. Having assured of Christ’s uniqueness by calling Him Brahman, he does not see any harm being done in calling other deities at a lower level of avatara or ishwara. For him therefore these deities are just historical figures or moral leaders but not to the level of Christ.
Evaluation: He had a very high Christology in calling Christ Brahman he was very understandable before the Hindu brethren. His zeal for indigenization of the Christian message makes him a sent missionary to the Hindus. His understanding of the Bible as the revealed word of God is definitely conservative. His resort to Vedanta to understand Christ as the higher God in relation to the avataras makes the difference between Christ and others only quantitative rather than qualitative.

Christ as the Son of God

CHRIST did not often designate Himself as Son of God, though He accepted that address whenever it was offered to Him by others. Son of God is the name given to Him (Lk 1:35) by the heavenly voice at His baptism and transfiguration (Mk1:11; 9:7), by Peter in his moment of illumination (Mt16:16), by the demons (Mk5:7) and the centurion (Mk15:39). It is only in Mk 15:39 that the secret of Jesus’ status as Son of God is fully revealed to humans.As the centurion faces the cross he declares, ‘Truly this man was the Son of God.’ Mark indicates that Jesus is the Son of God as one who suffers and dies in obedience to God. In Math 4:1-11 Jesus was tempted to manifest His divine sonship through the performance of spectacular signs, but He chose to demonstrate His sonship through submission to the Father’s will. The point of the first two temptations is not whether Jesus believes that God’s miraculous power is present in the Son, but whether He will be disobedient to His Father by attempting to use that power apart from the fulfillment of His specific commission as the Son. Jesus asserted that He is the Son of God when He was led to the charge of blasphemy in His trial (Lk 22:67-71). In this instance He was asked two direct questions, namely, ‘Art thou the Christ?’ and ‘Art thou the Son of God?’ It is possible that, in the estimation of the Jews, to claim to be Messiah was not as great an evil as to claim to be the Son of God. He was condemned for blasphemy because of His unqualified assertion that He is the Son of God. John adds in Jn 5:18, ‘Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He not only had broken the Sabbath, but said also that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God,’ and, again in 10: 33, ‘The Jews answered Him saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because thou, being a man makest thyself God.’

As a conclusion it is evident that Christ spoke repeatedly of God as His Father, and though He reminded His followers that God is their Father, His own Sonship is a reality which He never classed with others. Jesus is the Son of God not as a miracle worker, but in the obedient fulfillment of His task- precisely His task of suffering.

Women of God: Pandita Ramabai

Ramabai was a natural leader. Many things can be learned by Ramabai’s approach to mission. She was a pioneer in many of the contributions, but at the same time she was woman who contributed her life and ambitions to Christ, and God made her a real channel of blessing to many.

Ramabai was a Maratha Brahmin. Her parents, forced into a pilgrim life, wandered through the various sacred places and earned a living by reciting the Puranas. Hence Ramabai learnt the Puranas and became well versed in the recitation of the Puranas and earned the title of Pandita. She lost her parents and widowed early, she returned to Poona.
Ramabai had nurtured a desire to improve the condition of women, from childhood, and she began advocating social reforms, especially the rehabilitation of widows through her association with the Prarthana Samaj. She went to England for further training where she came under the influence of Christianity through the sisters of St. Mary, and was baptized in 1883. She then went to America and through her well wishers started the Ramabai Association. She started Sarada Sadan, a home and school for widows in Bombay that was later shifted to Poona in 1890. When the famine (1896) left hundreds of girls helpless, she developed a settlement at Mukti largely for girls.

The Mukti Mission ‘has been instrumental in saving hundreds of women, girls and child widows from a fate worse than death. Pandita Ramabai had contributed a lot to the emancipation of women and there was an impressive change in the position of women during her life.
