Newt was right. When he asked the CNN interrogator about wasting time with questions about things other than presidential level policy alternatives. So, one can assume that Newt likes irrelevancy when he wants to have a hissy-fit about whether or not Romney has stock in this or that company or a bank account in Switzerland or the Caymans, or any number of other mind-numbing, pointless matters.

If there is something illegal about the method of gaining income, about the method of investment, some day it will come out. You were the one who was floating (aka: kiting) checks during your time as a United States Congressman. In fact, your taking advantage of zero-net-negative-checking-account-innovative- personal-financing ranked you up at second place as a privilege abuser.

And, Mitt....Your presentation of Newt's lobbying for Freddie and Fanny is patently untrue. A government consultation contract of 1.6 million dollars was not a payment made in cash in some dark alley....composed of used and un-marked 5 and 10 dollar bills. Furthermore, as you know, the money was turned around in payment for office lease, salaries for clerical people and researchers, and telephone and computer connections, insurances, and all the other paper clip and toner things involved in running a doctor's office or a consulting firm. That is was a waste of government money goes without saying. Franklin Raines retirement bonus of 60,000,000.00 dollars was also a bit of an invasion of the exchequer as well, but at least Franklin did absolutely nothing for it save for successfully deleting all of the White House emails from the 1994 through 2000 period. That's when Franklin was White House Communications Director. Then Clinton appointed him to head the Freddie quagmire. Quid pro crook....

The point of it all is that you both should be named Oreck. Mitt Oreck and Newt Oreck. Or maybe Hoover. Newt and Mitt Hoover. Because your childish sitting in a muck-slump and pouting and snivelling over totally pointless personal details has demonstrated that neither of you is qualified in the final analysis to be president of the Welcome Wagon Committee. You remind me of two sophomore girls in the dorm cramming for finals while suffering PMS and pimple outbreaks.

During their next encounter, perhaps we can be treated to a mud-wrestling match with the two of them dressed in cheerleader drag.

This is not what we were hoping for when we were told that you both were "aspirants" for election to the office of the Presidency of the United States of America. Instead of being "aspirants", you both turn out to be "aspirators" instead. It becomes necessary to reiterate ones support for the best available candidate in the mix, and that would have to be Sen. Santorum. He is the only one who understands that we do not need any further "adjustments" or "temporary debt ceiling authourisations" . The Republic is running at 28 knots in the Adriatic....in the dark.....near the shoals....near an island named Giglio.

The display presented by last night's "debate" leaves a person rather much like surviving a shipwreck. Gee, I'm alive....but nobody knows where we are and we have these other idiots here on the same un-charted island....Gilligan, Mary Ann, Thurston, Tina, the Professor, Mr. Howell....

The next day, this or that "official" spokesman for this or that aggrieved "minority" group trundles to the microphone after the big official government meeting concerning institutional poverty and declares, "The failure of President (Reagan, Bush, Nixon) to move quickly to address the issues of hunger, poverty, and family stability is a form of racism of the worst sort. It is intended to destroy a race of people by starvation and neglect. A child cannot learn if he is not fed. A child cannot learn if he has no place to lay his head. A child cannot learn if he is dead. The racist "Klanners in Pin-stripes" are killing the future of the (enter minority) by not providing the most basic necessities that are the right of all children....the right of all people....to have."

Republicans put forth the silly notion that a two parent family....a man and a woman, perhaps....raising a family selflessly and working one or several employments or running this or that business....is a better format to apply in the quest for spiritual and material comfort. Then, Sheila Jackson Lee waddles out to remind people that the GOP is the bastion of racism because they will not even approve a huge increase in (food stamps, school lunch, emergency diapers, section 8, WIC, AFDC, public housing, free legal, medicaid....add infinite etceteras).

   One need only compare the appearance of Black and Latino Republicans to the images presented by people such as Maxine Waters and Al Sharpton       One need only listen to Negro conservative commentators and compare their logic, facts, construction of thought, and presentation to the likes of Jesse Jackson and Mayor Nagin and recognise that the cure for poverty is obviously to become an African American who is also a conservative and perhaps associated with the Republican Party.     My racism is showing, perhaps, when I understand and agree with Herman Cain, Col. West, J.C.Watts, Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, and several hundred thousand more.   Those several hundred thousands will be integral in leading many millions out of the desert of political and cultural slavery in the years to come.
      The notions the mainstream media and the professional race slugs have about "minorities" will ultimately fail.     The "community leaders" and "community organisers" are like the gang members and labour unions, as they imitate in their tactics, trying to force the "poor" and the "minorities" into gulags of dispair, to be used as cannon fodder in the cultural war to destroy America.    It will take a while, but the Kabuki Theatre will collapse upon them

Southern, Crockett, Whig, and Confederate

El Gringo Viejo recuperated long ago from brain-strains caused by his peculiar political and philosophical positions. He retreated into the intellectual wigwam of his ancestry, his people in Tennessee, and took the advice of one of those people. This advisor from beyond the veil spoke to many....both contemporaries and those who would dwell in Earth's future....by instructing them to "Be sure you are right, and then go ahead".

     David Crockett would not have fit into this day and time.    He was a showman, like Wild Bill Hickock, and an orator/humourist like Will Rogers.   He was a rustic man of the Smokies and the mountains of Eastern Tennessee.   He was also among the sharpest political and cultural analysts of his generation.    He gained fame as an Indian Fighter, and was also one of the foremost defenders of the Nations of the Cherokee, Choctaw, Cree(k), and other Indian peoples. He was a Republican of sorts in that he was a member of the prototypical Republican Party, known as Whigs, at the time.    This placed him in the northern, industrial, and banking political group although his personality and loyalty was distinctly rustic, traditional, and individualistic.    While there is some question about his ancestry, it can be assumed by his colour that, like many white people in the South, he had one or two strains of Indian blood.
     He informed people of his "evolution" as a conservative politician having been provoked by a Tennessee farmer.   While out visiting constituents one day, Crockett came upon one of his supporters, Horatio Bount, pushing his mules in the black soil of Franklin County, on the back side of the Smokey Mountains.   Crockett stopped and waved-ho the farmer who reined down his team and put them at rest.   The farmer walked over to the rail fence and shook hands tepidly with the famous Congressman and said nought.   Crockett sensed that there was some recalcitrance dwelling inside the farmer's soul, and immediately sought to plumb his motives.   He enquired of the health of the family and the major animals of the farm, and after receiving the briefest of answers, finally asked,"What seems to be the problem, Horatio?   Is there something we need to take care of?   Something I can do?"
     The farmer elbowed onto the rail fence, and leaned into an instructive pose, "Yes, Davy, there is a problem.   The news came by the paper that you all met in session and heard the plight of a widow who had lost her husband.   She's a known lady in the Washington area, and everyone was moved by her new problems....having children and accounts to pay and all."
      David Crockett brightened up, and interrupted a bit,"Yes, yes Horatio.   You're talking about Widow Baker, she was in a tight way and we voted her a goodly sum to dispel her cares.   It was a great amount for her but less than a copper for the Republic.   You can be sure that we took care of her.   Yes sir."   Crockett beamed with pride over this quick disarming of the issue.     But, his broad smile did not last long.   Horatio, the farmer, continued to look down and was shaking his head in the negative.
     The farmer took off his hat, and beat the chaff off'n his leg a bit, and then responded, "Well, Davy, here's the problem.   I am sure that the widow woman is a lady and that she had a cause for help.   It was good to help her.   But there is a wrong here, and you were part of it.   If you and your Congress friends felt so moved to help this woman, then you should have taken up a collection from among yourselves....or held a social....or informed the various churches and asked for a portion...or any number of other things.    It is not right, moral, legal, or in any way correct for you and your Congress friends to take money from people in Tennessee or New Hampshire or Pennsylvania and give it to anyone as a matter of charity...no matter how distressed that person is.   It is not your money to give.   Had you begged a dime from every Negro, a half-dollar from every wealthy man within 20 miles of that poor woman, she would have had a willingly given estate of several thousand dollars.    But, you chose to raid the national treasury and displace the Samaritan with the will of a messenger carrying his master's money and spending it in a saloon.    The messenger feels good for a moment, perhaps, but he is committing an evil."
      David Crockett was left with nothing more to say, save for this promise, "Jesse, you have spoken well.   I shall return to the Congress and place my share of the award to replace the money and I shall attempt to compel my colleagues to do likewise.   Your words have cleared my mind as to the nature of my duties, and I thank you."

(This is not taken from a "wire" worn by the farmer Horatio Bount. It is solid lore and something that was passed to El Gringo Viejo by his grandfather.   The writer's mother was born in Franklin County, Tennessee which was the residency of David Crockett and his family during his service in Congress and from whence he left to go to Texas.   The Gringo Viejo's mother's family settled into the area of Franklin County during and shortly after the time of the Revolutionary War.   While the above conversation was not personally heard by the Gringo Viejo or his family members, he can hear his grandfather telling and re-telling the same story many times and in the same accent and rhetorical composition as might well have been used by Horatio and David.   El Gringo Viejo has to this day many, many 2nd and 3rd cousins living and buried in and around Franklin County, Tennessee.)

     Crockett left the Congress, tiring of the hypocrisy of his own party concerning the lack of compliance with the Indian Treaties and in utter disgust of the vicious, dictatorial nature of Andrew Jackson.   It is probable that he and Samuel Houston both came to the same conclusion about Jackson....Houston being a close personal friend of the Old Hickory....and like many Tennesseans, they decided to plight their troth with Texas.    Like many, he thought that it would be a great final adventure to move his family to that golden place and establish a new future for his children and grandchildren.
      It is thought by many people that Crockett was an unwilling participant in the issues that confronted him in Texas.   He was used to being comfortable among people of different races and extractions, being in contact with Negroes and Indians on a very close basis.   But, once in Texas, he found that he was confronting another Andrew Jackson, but this time in the form and presence of one Generalissimo Presidente Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna.   He walked into a fight, that like back home, pitted the Centralists (led by Lopez de Santa Ana) against the local control liberal federalists (Zacatecas, Coahuila, Texas, Yucatan, Durango, Jalisco, Morelia, and many, many other entities) who were supporting the Mexican Constitution of 1824.   It was that Constitutionalist tri-colour that flew over the Alamo that enraged the Mexican dictator to unreasonable military measures that indirectly led to his losing a war that he had already won decisively.
     This is not to say that he was not a fighter at the Battle of the Alamo.   It is almost certainly the case that he was a fallen hero.   That he went down swinging "Old Betsy" and waiting for Buddy Ebsen to come riding up with reinforcements is very doubtful.   Best indicators suggest that he was spared by elements of the 2nd Batallion of Combat Engineers...known as the Segundo Batallon de Zapaderos, a truly heroic and militarily correct group....and brought as a prisoner to the presence of Lopez de Santa Ana.    Before the commanding general could speak to Crockett and two Latin Alamo defenders, several particularly effeminate lesser officers fell upon the two Mexican Texans and Crockett and hacked them to death with their parade sabres.
    According to Lt. Col. Enriquez de la Pen~a, XO of the 2nd Sapper Batallion, who had respect for Crockett and the other fallen in the actions of March 6, 1836, he included the above observations in his accounts of the battle.   His unit was the first to bridge the Sacred Walls.   He also wrote a long, detailed account of the war in Texas and was bitterly critical of its conduct by a person he considered to be a vainglorious fool.   He wrote:

The diversity of opinions expressed concerning the Texas campaign; the accumulation of lies told to falsify the events, published in national as well as international newspapers, but especially in the latter, and the cheap adulation have rendered to the men least deserving of it; the ignorance, stupidity, and cruelty displayed by the ministry and the commander in chief of this war; the honor of the army, unjustly censured even by its own members, who without adequate knowledge have superficially or inaccurately passed judgement; the honor and self-esteem of every military man who participated, so deeply hurt by the inaccuracies in the official records as to dates, deeds, and places; and above all the honor of the country, deeply compromised by its leaders and no less by the truth and the atrocity of its crimes – these are the principal causes which compelled me to publish the diary I kept during the time I served in this unfortunate campaign.

     The "Disney" historians would not like for this to be revealed, and others who prefer a hollow myth to the hallowed truth resent the telling of the true story.   The Lieutenant Colonel's account....lengthy, over-flowery like other writings of its type at the time, and detailed have been challenged.   But it becomes increasingly clear as the years go by that his accounts are true....his charges of war crimes, incompetence, corruption, and cover-ups by the Generalissimo and his lackeys have steadily....like tales from the Bible....become more and more plausible.    El Gringo Viejo finds his writings, having read them in both the original Spanish and in translation, to be veritable and worthy of regard as truth.
     Enriquez de la Pen~a's description of timings, unit movements, results, the weather and climate and geography, the support of the Anglo-Irish to the south in Texas and the opposition among the Latins in the northerly parts of Texas....among many other things....point to his veracity.   He regarded Crockett's death and the two Mexican defenders deaths as murder.
      This winding account of very small moments in Col. Crockett's life shows, perhaps, a better understanding of the thought processes of a typical Southern, Confederate, Crockett, Whig.   The typical Democrat....the typical leftist....the typical stereotyper who accuses us of stereotyping while portraying us gleefully as Beverly Hillbillies....has neither the depth of understanding of history nor the native intelligence to truly comprehend things like the Tea Party movement, philosophical conservatism, or the difference between private charity and welfare.

People are watching. We shall overcome.....the madness that has been manifested by the Occupy movement. We are including a poignant, perhaps even brilliant observation about the soul, or lack thereof, of the movement.

Sometimes, original unpublished poets need to be recognized by all available outlets. This is a Facebook-type entry written in observation of the first filing for major office by an Occupy slug. The place is Phildelphia. It is for the office of United States Representative. The slug is filing in the Democrat Primary against an incumbent Democrat, so we know pretty much that we are dealing with a terribly depressed area. The poem is written in prose form. It is profound. The Poet is, like El Gringo Viejo, not at all impressed with the Occupy personalities or purposes.

Here is a OWS Dude. He's the guy on the street with the nose rings,
      the dreadlocks and the lice.
He's the guy in Starbucks making coffee because it's the only job he can get with his degree in Art History.
He doesn't always have money for rent or food but he always has money for weed.
He rents a dingy studio apartment with a window on the sidewalk level.
Bums sleep on his steps and wee-wee on his sidewalk window.
He doesn't seem to care.
He doesn't even notice the smell.

He's the guy that rides a bicycle everywhere he goes because he can't afford a car.
He has to keep replacing the bicycle because people like him keep stealing it.
He has no mechanical skills.
He has no administrative skills.
He has no trade.
He is a vegan, too weak from malnutrition to work at any kind of physical labor job;
     not that he would take one anyway as tha...t kind of work is beneath him.
He despises the military and law enforcement.

He has an upside down American flag taped to his sidewalk window...
     right next to his marijuana flag.
He hangs out with other leftwing losers who blame their innumerable failures in life on
     people they've never met and know nothing about.
He's always borrowing money from someone but never pays them back.
He gives them some weed instead.
He's never contributed time or money to any civic project yet he constantly criticizes his
       community.
He fully immerses himself in anything leftwing.
The more these leftwing organizations bash America, the more rabid he becomes.

Despite his leftist fervor, he is always on the outside looking in.
He's a loser and even the leftwing losers that tolerate him think he's a loser.
He's never been able to become part of their leftist clique, no matter how much he bashes
    America.
When he gets old and is unable to support himself he will turn to welfare.
He is a parasite.

When his life is over he will have contributed nothing but hatred and bigotry to the

He will be buried in a state owned lot at the taxpayers expense.
Maybe one or two of his dealers or customers will stop by for the funeral service.

Anticipation Is Making Me Wait

We are waiting in this household to hear the inspired words of the Beloved Leader. It will sound something like this:

America has been a dump where only the rich are happy. No one has had a chance until I came here after the rich people drove us into the ditch. The Republican Congress still stands in the way, but we will take care of that in November. They have stood in the way of us passing a balanced budget for three years now, but in November we will have the votes to make certain that the richest among us....the millionaires and billionaires....will finally have to pay their fair share. No more subsidising their wealth, no more secret tax rates that only they know about; from now on, we will be the ones telling them what they are going to pay. We will finally have a level playing field. We will be the ones who have....and they will be the ones who have less.

For too long America has been an extension of the plantation mentality. It was a country established by slave holders, accustomed to being waited on, accustomed to making other people wait in line while they took the first pickings at the good life. Now, with our new tax rate of 66.6% not only on the earnings of the wealthiest two percent...but also on the evaluated value of their estates while living....we will see a new day where minorities become empowered to full, rewarding lifestyles, free medical services, free food and lodging, and free entertainment options. All will qualify except for the richest two percent.

I have established an executive order clearance procedure which will, from this day forward, authourise the abolition of the electoral college along with the right of abeyance in the case of any disagreement my government has concerning outcomes that are not desirable. We extend this right of abeyance to any decision made by the supreme court that is not in keeping with the overall objectives of the administration.

It is time that we become serious about social democracy, income equality, and other such basic human rights. For instance, we have ordered Fannie and Freddie to immediately take possession of those domiciles that are designated as "vacation homes" or "second homes" and to make them available to historically discriminated people. We have a ten point program that will build on this first initiative and details will be released after we have begun the implementation of that program. Suffice it to say, there will be no more mansions of billionaires and millionaires with space going to waste when there are so many children sleeping under expressway overpasses.

More could be said, but you people are not really capable of understanding. So, we'll just go ahead and say...."welcome to democracy".

The issue with Mr. Romney is that he speaks in four to eight word phrases that are essentially reformed platitudes. The platitudes have been repeatedly run through a filter that takes out any chance of offense to anyone save anyone too stupid or stoned to be capable of taking offense in any regard.

     Mr. Romney is a good candidate.   He was a better candidate.   But now, he takes on the character of that cheese a body was hoping to use in this evening's meal preparation, but upon taking it out of the refrigerator, it is, alas, consumed with mold.   He is remembered as a dolt who actually believes that it is a homo sapien conspiracy to destroy the earth by crock pot and not the Sun.    After all, he reasons, who are you going to believe?   Al Gore and the drowning Polar Bears, or obvious climatogical facts?
      Mr. Romney is also one of those inspired souls who is wise enough to know that criminals will gladly go down and pay four times more for a pistol permit than they used to.   After all, criminals need to be allowed to stand in line for three hours in order to pay for their own personal protection.   What if some Republican took away the criminal's mother's social security money before the criminal could make it to her house in time to pistol whip the old bag to get to her Social Security money so he could scrape enough money to pay for the next pistol permit he is going to buy?
      Mr. Romney is certainly an inspired, new-wave Conservative philosophical thinker.   And, he wanted everyone in Massachusetts to have free medical services.   For free.   And everything. For the children.

     At least we have Mr. Gingrich, who is easily the most brilliant thinker in the history of history. When he rose to the great office of Speaker of the House of Representatives, he was given a group of seats of honor to offer to people of great note, heroism, importance, and positive contribution to the American condition or experience.    You know, like Sergeant Benavides, Congressional Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, etc.   But, the Speaker chose to give a seat to that miracle worker.....the one who managed to reform the concept of being a Negro professional into the new category of Professional Negro, the one who delighted in telling to the story to his....women....that he would spit into the soup of the people he served while a waiter at the country club where he worked.    You know, Jesse Jackson.   Speaker Gingrich "reached out" and invited a poverty pimp, racist, embezzeler, philanderer, profane, hypocritical, marxist, slug to a seat of honor.
     There were only 200,000,000 other people more qualified. But the Speaker chose to honour Jesse Jackson.   The Speaker knows how to "reach across the aisle" and build working coalitions with septic sludge whose forte is lying, shaking down people, and fomenting violence and threats of violence.    The Old Gringo just loves "reaching across the aisle" to Satanic monsters whose only desire in life is to demogog, shake down, and have other people pay for his women.   Neither the Speaker nor the "Rev." "Mr." Jackson have very good taste in women.
     Then, we have Senator Sentorum. Anybody who has to translate his real name into Latin must be older than he looks.   He also slings a lot of meaningless mayonnaise at his opponents. He was also the inventor of elephant earmarks, which are the giant, economy size pieces of pork.    He does have something like a notion about what the concept "conservative" is.

Just Please!    We all know that you are all a bunch of bums to one degree or another. So just stop worrying about how stupid I am not to have memorised every one of your stupid mudpoints concerning the other candidates and concentrate on the enemy....the atheist marxists in the White House.    Lay down your plan and sign it in blood.   Then be quiet.   Stop shouting about what a scumbag some other Republican is.   What spoiled children you all are.
     One notes quickly why the Democrats and mainstream media had to lynch Herman Cain first.    Oh! And by the way, WHERE ARE ALL THOSE WOMEN WHO HAD THEIR LIVES FOREVER DESTROYED BY THE RAPACIOUS HERMAN CAIN?   The Stepford Wives have become the Cheshire Floosies? Perhaps Gloria All Red can come to the fore and explain how it is that she can line up white trash and Guatemalan illegal aliens at a drop of a mad hatter's hat to trundle out to blame some Republican or another with all crimes up to and including removing tags from pillows that say "Do not remove under penalty of law".

A local report

Hello again to everybody.

We are back again with no real earth shaking events to report, at least from around our little mud hut in the Sierra Madre Oriental country. Beyond a three-day episode last week when El Gringo Viejo had to fire up the old fireplace, even the weather was tolerable enough for the December - January time of the year. There were four mornings when the temperature hovered in the mid-30s, once even flirting with the dreaded 32F figure. Each afternoon managed at least the mid-60s, and the departure morning, yesterday, followed a day when the temperature made it to 85 F.

The flowering trees and the other growies around the area and on the property are already showing signs of the "reton~o". Our monstrous old mesquite tree is probably in its last demise. It is an ancient tree, but now seems destined to serve for firewood. We shall give it another year. It is being replaced by two medium-huge ebony trees, which is appropriate, because ebony is the State tree of Tamaulipas. The two trees are about 35 feet tall and of almost equal form and dimension. Clay-coloured Robin, aka Tropical Robin

     This has also been a very intense episode of birds.   We have had bunches of the old regulars, but also new arrivals.   One of interest is a medium-small bird that is navy-blue in colour, with a black beak and apparently a thin red line across the throat. He seems to delight in jumping into our large tray of water (we call in Lake Guerrero), and thrashing about with glee. He'll jump out and shake off like an old shaggy dog, and then fly up to a nearby branch to air and sun dry.   The rest of the topic might prove boresome, so suffice it to say that every day, all day, almost without respite, there were passages of parrots, song birds, ground birds, warblers, etc. without end.   We even nailed a couple of really good navel orange halves onto the flamboyan tree in front, and waited for the attack of the orioles.   This time, however, they were joined by mockingbirds, clay-coloured robins, green jays, and summer tanagers, at times simultaneously.   Every now and then there would be smaller birds swarming looking for fruit flies and other treats around the oranges.

      Another sign of the times is that the Old Gringo encountered a little convoy of American fishermen heading down to the real Lake Guerrero with their boats and trailers in tow....about six trucks.    It used to be a very common sight, and perhaps the event is going to start being repeated.   The last time coming up, another little caravan of trailer/motor home people was seen heading towards the Emerald Coast of Vera Cruz probably for the Winter.   There used to be 50 to 60 rig caravans....sometimes more...."doing Mexico", which I always thought to be a ridiculous way to see and engage a country.   But...to each his own.
      Topics for the days ahead will deal with the continuing saga of the War in Mexico, the elections to be held in Mexico in July and in United States in November, the lunacy of the gun control nuts and their allies in the Department of Justice and the ATFE, the bitter silliness of the marxists in Chilpancingo, and probably the Gringo Viejo's lecturing of the media, the dumboe missteps of the Republicans, the hypocritical jibberish of the Democrats and the American left in general, and other pleasantries.

     We shall be mulling over the dull, pointless, meandering lack of substance of the Republican Primary.   The candidate who will say...."O'bama's Socialized Medicine Initiative will be repealed as my first act....could win the nomination and election.    If he can then say, "I shall sign the Balanced Budget Amendment and forward it for ratification by all fifty-seven States of the federal Union.... I shall order the design and implementation of a complete embargo and trade suspension with Communist Red China.....Once empowering legislation is forwarded to my desk, that legislation will implemented....I shall immediately order the lifting of any and all suspensions of deep water or any other drilling prohibitions in the Gulf of Mexico that were put into place during the previous administration......I shall immediately implement procedures that will result in the elimination of the Departments of Homeland Security, Education, Energy, Labour, Commerce, and most of the Department of Health and Human Services.   In the Justice Department we shall de-activate and disband the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives division of the Justice Department, and the United States Coast Guard will return to detached and independent service as America's only free-standing military service serving principally inside the territorial domain of the United States of America."

Windy Return to Texas

Returned from a few pleasant days down at the Quinta. The theme, I would guess, was that everything was perfectly boring, there were a zillion birds including various new ones, and that the mornings were quite cold....for my old bones....and that my calling as a slave to cats and dogs was well acquitted. There will be some tales to tell and some observations coming on-line during the next few days, so stand by for a bit. By tomorrow we might be able to put some thoughts together.

One Last Note Before Departure

This is one more rant, because if it ain't writ, then there ain't no point to tryin' to get any sleep.

     The article is cryptic, summarizing the events that left a PEMEX gasoline station attendent severly burned.    A "student demonstration" near the city of Chilpancingo, Guerrero, the State's capital, turned into the predictable and desired mayhem desired by the "professors".   First-class and Deluxe long haul busses stopped in the highway with large stones and a human mass, then boarded....thugs demand that everyone get off....pilfer money, jewelry, luggage, and whatever for "the cause", and then turn the busses sidewise to the flow of the expressway lanes that normally smoothly connect Mexico City to Acapulco....traffic count of 40,000 each way per day is common.
     The mayhem had gone on in Chilpancingo for several days...part of the common marxist tactic. They demand this and that, and the rectory and/or the local, State, and/or national government says okay, and then the agitators refuse to agree to what they were previously demanding, accusing the other side of "being insincere, patronising", and trying to trick the "students".
       The problem is that there were no "martyrs"....people slain by the fascist brutes who are lackeys of the filthy Capitalistas Americanos and the "free-trade colonialists".    So, like the Occupy Your Property movement in the United States and other such nihilistic narcissists in Europe, it's time to break some windows and set some fires.    After all, why should anybody have any of this stuff....what about global warming?   Think globally, Act locally!
      So a batch of thugs, driven on by their university trained urban "professors", finally attack the PEMEX gasoline station across from their school complex....quite a nice one actually....and throw a molotov cocktail into a pump.
      Enter Gonzalo Rivas Camara, a pump attendant and minor repairs and auto service person one might normally find at a PEMEX station.    He runs forward first to try to put out the fire, then runs to the shut down switch that disconnects the pressure systems for the pumps. Gonzalo is severely burned.   He is hospitalised, receiving excellent care, but finally succumbed yesterday to the murderous, depraved indifference of marxist thugs who were trying to destroy a privately owned concession of the PEMEX monopoly gasoline operation.   Gonzalo is not a rich man....not quite a poor man.....but now he is a dead man, because arrogant, atheist, elitist "professors" educated in Mexico City's best public schools essentially at no charge, decide to change their preparatory school into a popular resistence communist training camp of some sort.    In the ensuing disorders, when the authourities finally came to restore order, two of the poor innocent students were shot to death.   The leftist media, both in Mexico and worldwide, was quick to point out that "poor, Indian students, just excersising their legal rights to protest, were murdered by trigger happy cops."    There is no common lament for Gonzalo Rivas Camara, one who complied with his legal and morally correct duty, and then some.

      It is clear that the ''students'' did everythng possible to provoke the authourities.   It is true that the largest pecentage of the body of the "protesting students" fled the area after the molotov attack on the PEMEX station.    A dedicated group of about 30 stayed and taunted the police.   They went on one charge at the police who fell back in fairly good order, considering the abandoned autos and trucks at the scene. The next thing is gunfire, which the leftist press immediately blames upon the police.
     It is becoming clear, as was pointed out in the previous post some days back on this same blog, that the "professors" or their agents most probably fired the shots that killed their "comrades"....thereby providing the much needed martyrs.   There is solid, camera evidence taken by neutral nobodies....like people from the busses that had been stopped....that there were at least four "professors" or their agents who were carrying rifles and lurking at the rear edge of their students' grouping.    These armed people consistently took firing positions behind cover as if waiting for some opportunity to "fire for effect" .
     Sick of it, tired of it.   These same "professor" types have been coming down to this Indian areas for years with the same purpose of fomentation of useless insurrection.   They follow the same formula every time.   It is tiresome.   It is a form of premeditated murder.   These people are pathological.   Like...I have the right to demonstrate in front of your restuarant and drive you out of business because George Bush wouldn't give me a job paying 200,000 dollars per year.   Occupy?   Protest?   Spare me.

Heading South in the Morning

The Old Gringo will be heading down tomorrow for a spell. The Sargento Mayor Alvaro probably was thinking that he had petrified in place and/or become a fossil. We'll be taking down the dogs' and the cats' favourite foods and other goodies for neighbours and friends. We'll have to measure the Labrador BiBi, and determine our plan of attack for the Spring in terms of the plants, trees, bushes, and yard projects. Simplification will be the rule. Alvaro says that there are people wanting to make reservations....so we shall see about that as well.

We should be back before the end of the month. Diana has chores line up for me here, but I always tell her not to go into too much detail about any of it, because it will all be forgotten by the time morning comes anyway.

Look for a few messages during my stay....if laziness does not consume my plans and efforts to go down to the chat-room with the good connection at the Estacion.

Banal, Drippy, Dull

Early in the morning, usually between 04:00 and 04:20, depending upon the patience of the cats and the dogs, El Gringo Viejo wakes up and stumbles in the direction of the coffee, cat food, and dog food. At around 05:00 he tunes in to his master's voice, the SKY Satellite/Cable Service in Mexico or TWC in Texas, and clicks up Fox and Friends, watching some of what they are airing. Then he searches around on various Mexican local and national channels when he is in Mexico. When in Texas, he will fish a little in the barrels marked CNBC, Fox Business, and only rarely....just enough to refresh the memory as to why such channels are avoided...he will review the bilge at PMSNBC and other CCCPNews outlets.

However, one can tire of watching Fox and Friends and almost all of FOX News programming at times, because of the banality that they manage to inject. They forget that theirs is the network that actually does have the viewership with the higher intellectual ability. The others think and/or say they are brainy networks...like PBS or PMSNBC or Whatever, Inc.....but it is actually Fox News. So we should demand better. A case in point, of many, is the continuous pointing out that Congress only has a 5% approval rating and that O'bamaham is going to run against Congress because he can't run on his record.

The approval rating of 5% is at once complicated and simple. All sides are angry with both the "other side's" side and with their "own side's" side simultaneously. My side is angry because the Republicans should (but don't) come out and explain briefly that if people want to spend 1,000,000 dollars for a box of matches in a couple of years. They should also explain that for said reason....they are going to filibuster and block every program and department's funding until a complete budget is presented which includes an 8% across the board cut in funding. Only the War Department and the two stupid entitlements Social Security and Medicare will be kept at the old level.

The Party of Perpetual Unemployment Compensation and Baby Mother Funding is angry because their "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" drones have not already, at the least, either imprisoned everyone who has more than anyone else or better yet just taken all 100,000,000 who compose the 1% and led them to the guillotine.

They could do a special report on how the farmers and the bureaucrats signed another accord with Satan to put ethanol into perfectly good gasoline. Did anyone ever notice how the miles/gallon falls about 10% when we put ethanol-poisoned gasoline in our tanques?

Another article could be done on (Sir Edmund)Hillary Rodham's 40 biggest whoppers. That could fill an entire season with reality shows that are real....Camel rides, anyone? It just seems like the time has come to fight. Every social program set in place by the central government has failed in its stated purpose and led us to the ruin that was predicted at each point of enactment. They are using the armed forces to promote....what? Lesbie-smooches? They want lesbie-smooches but they don't want a major parade or a set of parades to celebrate the return of victorious troops who fought and won a thankless war that Harry Reid pronounce once...."This war is lost!" on the Senate floor?????

Resolutions for the New Year? No, we avoid making commitments that neither can nor will be fulfilled. Stopped smoking, about 20 years ago....not because of being told by them or him or her or the central government ''surgeon general" . Just stopped....no nicomatic, no tobackyblaster, no Chief Ludvig von Barfing Bear's Wigwam of Holy Sweatrocks 53-Step Smoking Remediation Program of the Stars (approved for Medicare and Medicaid). I already stopped beating my wife because my hand started hurting too much, and I stopped taking six newspapers from the dispensing machine instead of just one because my pet parrots and owls all escaped and there were no cages to be cleaned any longer.

During a recent visit upstate, we were exchanging a visit with the in-laws of our daughter. They are a fine couple, very intelligent and generous and the perfect grandparents for our two granddaughters. My comadre, after an excellent buffet she had arranged for us, her parents, our son-in-law and daughter, and our granddaughters finally asked the Old Gringo to explain ...."when it all happened". She and her husband are very accomplished and polished people, more than a tad more intelligent than the Gringo Viejo....so it was a bit of a challenge to inform someone who has more of an intellectual edge than oneself. Her point of reference was, "When did the idea of total courseness in deportment and total assault upon the conventional mainstays of of the culture begin?"

At first it was thought a bit of a joke, because her analysis would be as good or better than my own. Discussion concerning matters such as this question is what has kept university student union buildings full both in the coffee shops and the meeting rooms for many generations. But, the Gringo Viejo painted out his own answer....Lincoln establishes the right of the central government to force people at the point of a bayonette to submit to the will of another group of people on the basis that the latter find the former objectionable.

This seminal concept changes the Constitution of the United States from an instrument of guidance for governance of a Republic into a vehicle of legal leverage that will finally result in the establishment of an organic law democracy. Leftist, populist, labour, anarchist, and finally "progressive" movements began to form up a persistent, new, and seductive policy during the period from the late 1880s through the early 1930s.

That policy had three heads:

(1) The certainty that human psychology and society could be perfected

(2) The necessity to put only "elites" in charge of the necessary changes

(3) The correct vehicle to obtain "change" is government force.

The answer to my comadre's question in short form then was that the elimination of the traditional culture became the active central focus finally, in the latest part of the 1960s and especially in the 1970s to the present. Saul Alinsky, an atheist Jew, is feared and loathed by the American Right because he wrote the definitive instructions for the turning of America into an uncleanable septic tanque. This writer sees Alinsky more like compiler of Bolshevik rabble-rousing tactics, and perhaps a thwarted stand-up comic from Hell. He was a person of sufficient intelligence to know that his policies would bring ruin upon any country that followed them, and he also did not care....he simply hated America because he felt that he was not allowed to "fit in".

There is something odd....very queer....about a Jew who embraces communism. There is something creepy about a Jew who hates Judaism and Jews, but then blames his lack of social adaptation on the fact that he is Semitic.

Violent and "non-violent" agents for "change" in America all used his book as a Bible for their relentless insurrection. Barak Hussein Obama keeps this book on his bedstand. Everything he has done during his public life has been based on the simple rules laid down by his "guardian demon". Isolate your enemy....ridicule your enemy....saturate the universities with professors who will spend 50 per cent of their class-time with marxist indoctrination. Always express your cause and objectives in short phrases....always find an "ethnic" victim and blame his plight upon the "system" or upon "White America". Always remember the first objective is to destroy America and then rebuild a new country based upon the precepts of pure marxist dogma. The Democratic Socialist Peoples' Republic of Free Atlantis.

The joke in all of this is that Saul Alinsky and all his ilk are derived from social thinkers like George Bernard Shaw, Woodrow Wilson, Annie Wittenburg, Eleanor Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, Adolf Hitler, Nikolai Lenin, Carrie Nations, Leon Trotsky, Che Guevara, and a host of other similarly- inspired social engineers. Whether we like it or not, Franklin Roosevelt would not shake hands with Jesse Owens, and Margaret Sanger found her greatest inspiration in the "advanced" and socially progressive techniques of the National Socialist (Nazi) medical industry.

By the term "his ilk", one must include Bill and Hillary, Barry and Michelle, Ted and Hanoi Jane, etc. etc. etc. But Old Gringo....it's not nice to always drag out the "Hitler Word" when making these baseless accusations....and terms like socialist.... and bolshevik. And that is true. But...worse than true, it's also factually accurate and necessary.

The irony is certainly that these people use the American Negro as the skeleton key to turn every lock, and yet, their first and continuing objective was and will continue to be the elimination of the Negro race from American soil, and ultimately from the face of the Planet. They have the same fate planned for all the inferior races, including Slavs, most Jews, all Arabs, most Orientals, all people from the South...(aka - white trash)...mentally retarded people, Mexicans and most other people with any Latin background. You see, only the chosen will be allowed to determine that foul-mouthed, communist Whoopie Goldberg is a "Good Negro" and Herman Cain is a "Bad Negro". We know because Gloria Alred took side on that case....and Gloria, like Nancy Pelosi, is one of the "enlightened". Gloria Alred also loves Guatemalan illegal aliens....for 3 minutes and 32 seconds.

       But, to the point, the abolition of prayer in public schools, the extension of AFDC and food programs of many kinds, and other public support for the indolent, all coming from the entitlements etched in stone on the face of American social structure in the 1960s....and the continuing onslaught since....is why the Gringo Viejo says that the stone began its inexorable roll down the mountainside in the late 1960s and 1970s and will probably continue until such time that there is a massive rejection of public assistance at the polls....or when all is destroyed by the return of the guillotine and all the producers are beheaded and their pants pockets rifles for the last brass shilling.
      This little Christmas episode with the people identified above was something of what El Gringo Viejo refers to as a Rockwellian Moment.   We are all so dull and boring.....the old man of the group had quite a business career and flew B-17's over Germany. My compadre is a Navy type and, (your humble servant is Army), worked all over Mexico in the oil business and other places in the world during interesting and dangerous times, literally hundreds of spellbinding stories and personal friends in high places. The Gringo Viejo is the least of them with similar experiences and accomplishments, albeit to a lower scale of accomplishment.    The younger man, the son-in-law is somewhere in the stratosphere of a major computer company as is his wife (our daughter ) and the grandchildren look like poster children for a poster about poster grandchildren.    They are even polite and civilised.
      Why would any of them ask a blowhard like me my opinion about anything?   They are very good company one and all.   I do not deserve to be favoured by them.

It Never Ends

The Old Gringo is too lazy anymore to rile up big. But when there is a boatload of bilge that is bigger than Beaumont and Baton Rouge combined, a Hulk just has to say something.

The Chairman of the Democrat Party of Texas has decided to point out that Rick Perry is a big ole' meanie. In his recent editorial release for publication throughout the Republic of Texas, the Chairman points out that Perry hates school children who attend schools with very few children in the classrooms. El Gringo Viejo went to school in the first two grades of primary with 40 beaming little, snotty faces in the room....no air conditioning...McAllen, Texas. No problem.

Boyd Richie states,"Our school-children are being shoved into already overcrowded classrooms and media reports indicate that tens of thousands of teachers will lose their jobs because of Republican budget cuts. Not even Pre-K children was (sic) left un-scathed as $208,000,000 were cut from vital Pre-K programs on which countless Texans depend. (?) And Medicaid was funded only through three-fourths of the budget cycle. So if the legislature isn't able to quickly fill in that budget hole before 2013, set up the guest room, because nursing homes are shutting down and grandma will need a place to stay." (There are four false or ignorant statements included in the short quote above. Send a note to the Gringo Viejo pointing out those four statements plus 5 dollars and he will give you winning numbers for lottery tickets....free!)

He goes on with the marvellous, and ever so original Democrat/Socialist saw of ".....Campaigning on a platform to kick people off the government dole while treating himself to a government funded life of luxury most taxpayers can barely imagine, is shameful". It is particularly poignant when one considers the image of Father Obamaham splittin' rails for the po' folks down there in the South....way south....like Hawai'i for seventeen days

LET'S TRY ONE MORE TIME, BOYD RICHIE, and see if you are in need of remediation or if the task is hopeless and you should be promoted to a higher level of incompetency. The person you have employed to write your editorial comment is in desperate need of a basic English language rhetoric and composition class.

Governor Perry draws the ire of Boyd Richie because the Governor draws a salary of 150,000 yankee greenback dollars per year. Mr. Richie is also angry because the Governor uses up 10,000 dollars per month to live in a fancy rental somewhere in an area of Austin where there is segregation.....like where Democrats might not live in abundance. Like almost all Democrats, Mr. Richie cannot avoid steering into the morass of a "mistruth" when he could just as easily practice some form of veracity.

unto itself. It was torched by a person that would be
a good candidate for leader of the OCCUPY movement.

His biggest lie is a bit more skillful. He can plead ignorance. He can plead stupidity. He can say, "I'm too busy and important to have to bother myself with things like incontrovertible evidence, truth, and/or facts." Mr. Richie is a very important person, it is true, and since he is a Democrat, he is allowed to lie without fear of challenge by anyone in any form of the more traditional media. Democrats can lie, because it is only fair, since they are doing good and Republicans only do bad.

Mr. Richie points out that not only does the Governor's salary place him very close to being in the 1%, especially in Texas, but he has also used his influence and special interest, lobbying power to extract money from the Retirement fund. And he is even eligible to receive health care for the rest of his life, provided by the State of Texas. BUT THEN, HERE IS THE AWFUL TRUTH. In Texas, the Texas State Employees' Retirement System is not like the Social Security Ponzi Scheme System of the Democrats. In Texas, each employee in service to the State of Texas pays a portion of his salary each month into his own, personal, assigned, and dedicated retirement fund. The employees of the various school districts in the State....be they teachers, aides, administrators, janitors, bus-drivers, or whatever....participate in a similar system but exclusively reserved for them, called the Texas State Teachers' Retirement System.

At any time that a person has laboured well for the State of Texas in one of these areas at some combination of years of life and years of service that equal 80 years, that person can elect to remove any or all of that retirement fund....under certain caveats and conditions....both to the favour of the State and to the Pensioner....to his personal control.

During the time of employment, the money contributed to the fund is invested in fairly dull and boring instruments and the pension fund grows. The Trustees may well be cronies and political appointees, but their record in the handling of many, many billions of dollars in trust for these employees is better than Father Obamaham's most trusted go to guys...like Corzine, and another favourite contributor, Madoff, or perhaps that great investor, Marc Rich. What a team you could make with Clinton's and Obamaham's financial people....throw in Fannie and Freddie and Franklin Raines....wowsers....!

But in Texas, you see, we are all rather backwards....Jed Clampett type folks....so we have the system that allows a person to own his retirement. If he dies, the balance or a system of payments is paid to the survivours or beneficiaries. How novel. Nobody who can avoid it is on Social Security....because Social Security is a Ponzie Scheme, illegal if attempted by any private person....only permitted if it is operated by people who need a system to try to scare the heeby-jeebys out of dull, stupid people who think that Obama gives them a check every month for being good proles. ACCORDING TO THE LAW HERE, HE IS FURTHER ALLOWED TO APPLY HIS SERVICE AS AN AIR FORCE OFFICER TO THAT TIME. HE AND ALL OF THE PEOPLE IN THE SYSTEM CAN CHOOSE TO MAINTAIN THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THE HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN OPERATED BY THE STATE. IT IS NOT PAID BY THE STATE. IT IS PAID THROUGH PREMIUMS PAID BY THE PENSION POLICY HOLDER. BY COMMON LAW, THE LAW COMMON TO THE PAUPER IS APPLIED TO THE PRINCE, AND PERRY IS PLAYING BY THE LAW.

In fairly short order, the larger part of Perry's "windfall" will be gone, and his pension will be paying him a little shy of 90,000 yankee greenback dollars per year. Much less than Barney Frank who never flew a C130 under any condition....or an A6 Torpedo bomber...or an F4 Phantom....or an F105 Interceptor....but who did manage to allow his "friend" to operate a male prostitution ring out of Barney's apartment for a year....but Barney assured us he never knew about it, and received a standing ovation for it when he came back to the floor of the House of Representatives after lying about every aspect of his situation. Barney needs his pension....a pension that is thrice the size of Perry's. Barney helps the poor and the little people. He gives them Social Security.

Green Grow The Rashes

This song was known from the time of Bobbie Burns, the Scottish Poet, and a literary genius many times over. He was obviously influenced by the English and the Irish, and he influenced them. He was the Gringo Viejo's father's favourite in the panoply of those who job it was to stain paper with ink. Over the years Robert Burns has risen in the estimation of this writer as well.

The thing is, although many would never admit it, and many more have never heard of Bobbie Burns, there are those who would say that this famed bard was the father of the term or word....."gringo". A poem this short-lived, talented man wrote, and titled Green Grow the Rashes, Oh! was a popular ditty set to music in various pubs throughout the British Isles. Songs, with varying lyrics, some quite bawdy, some quite delicate were sung by men in all corners of the world. It is thought that exhanges between the lines during the War Between the States were sung by soldiers during the night. The Gringo Viejo's mother and grandmother....the ones from the South...both sang this song while doing housework or driving in the auto. At times, they would sing it as a lullaby for a feverish, sick, or injured child or grandchild.

They both would use the Scottish or original form which is printed below.....

However, the OROG will see below where it is stated that ".....other scholars date the term...." the Old Gringo would like to dissuade any OROG from consideration of such a statement as anything remotely possible. The term "gringo" most certainly became a part of the constant Mexican vernacular suddenly during the first months of the Mexican - American War of 1846 - 1848. It was heard by John J. Audubon when he left the wharfs of Vera Cruz during his sojourn in Mexico even during the hostilities in 1847.

The term began to be used during the penetration by American forces under the commands of Generals Taylor and Worth on the route between Matamoros and Monterrey in 1846. Troops would draw up in rank and file, and in parade order when moving through the various small towns and major ranch communities, so as to control the men under military discipline and to provide the Mexicans with the fair impression that the invaders were civilised and intended no harm to the general populace.

Part of this march order presentation was to sing marching songs. Two of the songs were those posted here. The lyrics had perhaps hundreds of slight variations, scores of geographical variations, and different venues where one set of lyrics might have been more appropriate than others. Children would run out of the villages when the American soldiers would come near....demanding "Gringo...! Cantan Gringo! Cantan!!!" Sing...Sing the Gringo song....Sing!

Gringo as a word in Spanish was the best effort made by people unused to new words, especially with the use to two hard "g's" and one with a following sub-ligual "r" ....and an "r" that was not a rolled double "rr" such as the two adjacent words "Green grows the grass"....Difficult for any Mexican, literate or illiterate, and impossible for almost all children. Further, the Mexicans had made it fairly clear that their citizenship and patriotism were not for sale, but their amiability and desire to do business with the "new reality" was certainly "for lease". So, the relations were not perfect, but there were wide areas of common effort and interaction "for the greater good".

This assisted somewhat lax relationship between invader and defender helped an Irish-Mexican priest from one of the local parishes to penetrate the Americans security apparatus and in fairly short order seduce away about 500 recent Irish conscripts and/or voluteers in the advancing American army. This formed the nucleus of the famous Batallon de San Patricio, with made up a smart and effective infantry and light artillery unit, finally numbering about 700 effectives. These fellows would see heavy action during the enagements in and around Monterrey later, and then once again to the southeast of Saltillo where the Mexican Army essentially defeated the American Army, and then for some unknown reason pulled away and moved to the south, without taking the surrender or forcing the retreat of General Taylor. The Americans, the Irish defectors, and the general demeanor of men away from home, children, and the innate sense of hospitality of the Mexican at any level brought two adjacent words into eternal fame as a contraction that identified that new race of man, the American....the Gringo.

Couriers and other transfer of information could normally link the Capital of Mexico with these outlying areas in about one week....very quick by American reckoning for the day....so the tales about the children, the songs, and the interaction between invader and defender were fairly well known in fairly short order. In 1847, the term "Gringo" was published in newspapers quite commonly, and referred always to Americans, American soldiers, and American whatever. Therefore, whomsover believes that the term comes from the green uniforms and gold buttons of General "Black Jack" Pershing, and his mainly Negro units of regular cavalry and mounted infantry during their pursuit of Pancho Villa.....that is fine....but whomsoever professes it as knowledge of fact to other people, is an ignorant fool. Simply not true....simply 70 years too late.... And yes, they referred to the Negro soldiers as Gringos, too.

Finally, as has been stated before, the word "Gringo" is not a perjoritive unless it is used as one. El Gringo Viejo and his late brother made a pact to restore and maintain the word "Gringo" as the neutral title for Americans and things of and/or of an American nature.

It is probably also false that Pancho Villa's forces had anything to do with the attack on Columbus, New Mexico or on about 99% of the banditry and Mexican military provocations during the terms of Carranza and Obregon during their presidencies the 1916 through 1924 period on the American border with Mexico.)

This ballad is based on a similar song, Green Grows the Laurel, that was popular in 17th century Scotland. The American ballad tells the story of an American soldier's love for a Mexican lass. Though I don't have the words for the earlier version, it evidently had a similar theme, albeit with different nationalities.There are countless versions of the song, I have included only two.
One story of the songs origin speculates that Cowboys in South Texas loved to sing the song. Across the way, Mexicans, who could not understand the words, could only hear "GREEN GROW". So white Americans became known as "Gringo" by the Mexicans. However, other scholars date the term to the incursion of American troops in Mexico to search for Pancho Villa.

This picture was taken during happier times, and included General Alvaro Obregon (l), General Francisco Villa (c) and General Black Jack Pershing in El Paso, Texas in 1914, before Villa and Obregon went at each other in a series of famous battles during the Mexican Revolution of 1910 - 1917. Pershing and his white and mainly Negro forces were all considered "Gringos" even before the later incursion in 1916, which pitted the two friends, Pancho and Black Jack against each other in a confrontatin neither wanted, and both knew to be a CYA by Woodrow Wilson and his lackies who were trying to cover up the failures of their Mexican policy. The next year, 'peace candidate' Wilson would have the "Gringo" in a war in Europe. Wilson's Mexico policies indirectly would be the cause of 50 years of ensuing rot, corruption, and socialist misery.

So that the member of the Order of Readers of the Old Gringo will be certain that you are not reading the scribblings of some Pollyanna, pro-Mexican idiot who is not well planted in some zone of reality, we are including the following couple of reasonably accurate local news articles. This is being done because the spate of news articles published by agencies ranging from the BBC to the Los Angeles Times and others in the MSM, have been really, really confusing and inaccurate to the point of exasperation.

This was not a good time for the area of what is called the Northern Huasteca, which includes the northernmost part of the State of Vera Cruz, the southernmost part of the State of Tamaulipas, and the far-easternmost part of the State of San Luis Pososi'. On your Google Earth, click into....for instance the towns of Ebano, Tampamolon, Valles, Tamosopo, Tamuin, all in San Luis Potosi State. Then, look for Tempoal, Tantoyuca, El Higo, and Panuco in the State of Vera Cruz. The places lie about 100 - 150 miles south of Victoria, Tamaulipas and about 60 - 100 miles southeast of Tampico. Much of it lies about 250 years in the past, and includes large numbers of people who speak no Spanish. Another oddity of the area is that most of the white people in this zone are actually 4th - 6th generation French in their ancestry, and quite a few have some traces of Confederate refugee bloodlines.

The bad part of this blog entry is that eleven civilians were uselessly killed...murdered for no reason good or bad....by cartel brigands on the 21st of this month. Two busses were assaulted at the Tempoal - Huejutla intersection, known locally as the "Y" (or i- griega, meaning 'Greek i). Tempoal is a nice little town, very productive in terms of citrus and even some chocolate. A group of cartel leftovers, having been driven literally into the mountains and into very traditional Indian areas, had tired of their rough treatment by the locals and their inability to "discipline" the natives with terrorism and harassment. Army patrols were closing in on them, mile by mile, and the Indians had been giving the military good data about specific places and types of vehicles and types of armament with reference to the cartel holdovers.

Apparently, in some form of ridiculous frenzied hope of escape from the jaws of a three sided, strategic military assault against this small band of 20 +/- of the very worst, the cartel holdovers launched an all out attempt to change their geographic hiding grounds. The problem is that at the very moment they left their hidey-hole outside of the village of Tomasopa, San Luis Potosi....running to the east....they learned that a large military convoy was coming down from Tamuin to the north. Before the made it to the State border of San Luis Potosi' and Vera Cruz contact was made by helicopter scout and by an advance platoon of infantry. The criminal element drove into El Higo, Vera Cruz with 5 late model, stolen pickups. They discarded two of the trucks with mechanical problems, and attempted to replace them with less ostentatious mounts. Three fruit vendors/purveyors were killed but the criminals could not start their delivery truck and leave its loading station so they went further into town, threw an old hand grenade at a man coming out of his house, and managed to not only kill the man, but also to essentially totally render useless the intent of their actions...the theft of his pickup. Not smart.

The forward element of the Army convoy then engaged the one pickup that had been pointed out by El Higo citizenry and chased it to a nearby point on the river that borders this sugar-mill town. After a brief engagement, all five (it was thought) of the criminals were killed. The Army suffered no casualties. More citizen outcry advised the soldiers that there were four more pickups that had gone to the main highway and then headed to Tempoal to the south about 14 miles. The military convoy reformed and then went to the south, arriving too late to salvage the issue wherein the criminals had assaulted two busses, and killed two drivers, and five passengers. Oddly, the criminal group turned and went back to the north, apparently fearing a response from the huge army bases outside of Cerro Azul (25 miles away) and/or Tuxpan (Army and Naval Infantry about 50 miles away on the coast). The highway leading to the site of the crimes from those bases is not very good, so it was ill-advised on the part of these particular criminals to flee to the north. It leads one to the conclusion that they were very low level both in terms of pecking order and intellectual capacity.

As the Army convoy turned south, the assaulters had already passed by the critical intersection coming out of El Higo (The Fig) in their northbound flight. The 15 vehicle convoy arrived 40 minutes after the tragedy at the Tempoal intersection. The Recon helicopter was uselessly sitting on the highway....pilot and recon man talking to excited citizens and bus passengers saying..."The bad guys went back to the north! The bad guys went back the way they came in". This made no sense in terms of any logical action. If they were trying to escape, they should have taken the highway Huejutla...to the west. But, the people were adamant, and when the convoy reformed, leaving the dead and wounded to local authourity, they retraced through the fog of war to the north. Correctly, a rear guard had been left at various points where the criminals could have turned off into temporary hidey-holes or dead-end escapes, and the helicopter was combing back and forth as they went....then it was joined by two more helicopters from the Naval Infantry facility in Tampico. The city of Panuco, Vera Cruz was sealed of from entry from the south, and then the real live combing began.

Yesterday, in desperation, the criminal group, numbering eight individuals, arrived at a Bancomer bank in the town of Ebano, Vera Cruz. They were driving in two remaining pickups, both stolen a few days earlier. While two remained at the wheel, three guarded the entry/exit, and three assaulters crowded into the smallish local bank and demanded "all the money". According to local reports, one of them discharged his automatic rifle into the ceiling, but the action jammed after two or three rounds. They were given several hundred thousand pesos and left hurriedly. They had entered onto the precincts of the small bank at 10:30 in the morning.
When they had gone only 6 miles to the east....heading into the Tampico area (30 miles), exactly the wrong direction for any hope of escape....the two-pickup, group of eight was being lined up for removal to the morgue at the State Medical University in Tampico...now 24 miles away. The encounter was brief and no quarter given.

During the periods leading up to all of this, locals around El Higo had reported finding four wounded parties from the very first assault, hours earlier. The platoon left in El Higo to restore order and abate anxiety among the citizenry went out and found two resisting criminals who refused to surrender. Two of their group had died shortly after being wounded.

So, the final count of criminals was 17 dead, no prisoners, no wounded. The Army and Naval Infantry suffered two slightly wounded effectives. According to the command of the 6th Military Zone, they are convinced that these individuals had a falling out with several in their group at a place some distance to the south of Tampico and on the beach. They feel that there was a fight in which the some of the winners and all the losers died, and the bodies of the latter were mutilated. The military and federal police place this episode somewhere around the 15th of December, according to information derived from locals who were just glad to see them gone. The entire group had been described as continuously drunk and drinking....always aggressive and arguing among themselves at beachfront cabana "bars".....not paying their tabs and even beating up the barmaids. There had been some shooting one night, and then the next day everyone was gone, including their new pickups. About a day later, about 12 bodies and one pickup with mechanical difficulties were found at a place a few miles to the north of the arguments.

      Save for the victory by the forces of order, there is little good in any of this.   If one looks at it from the point of view of the people who were just going down the road, minding their own business....there is no good "spin" for them or their families.
       What little good there is can be enumerated thusly:

               (1)   As usual, the Army and Naval Infantry won.

              (2)    The citizenry co-operated and gave worthwhile, current information to the forces of order.

               (3)    For the Northeastern part of Mexico, this is seeming to be an outlier event.   Other altercations between the Military and the elements of organised crime have been isolated from the citizenry in general.   Other incidents have occurred between opposing groups within the universe of organised crime resulting in casualties among they themselves.

               (4)     These flashes of irrational violence will continue for another 6 to 12 months.   Our analysis continues to be the same as stated during our last projections, and on the same time line.   The greatest problem we have at this point is that elements of the criminal cartel group will join with leftist political groups after the up-coming Presidential and National Elections to bring as much anarchy as possible to the unavoidable protests that will follow the defeat of the various leftist candidates and positions.    This "joining" will not be so much for political reasons as for the simple desire to destroy and to ruin.   In that sense there is considerable overlap between the political left and the cartels.

Below, we have included two articles that are better than what was found in the mainstream media.   Oddly, according to some, one is essentially the summary of the Official Military Statement which focuses very well onto the other known facts concerning this encounter....while the other story comes from a scandal rag newspaper that does some pretty good reporting at times....kind of a regional "National Enquirer".    The articles are in Spanish, but it can be easily read by people who just have confidence that they can swim if they just jump into the pool.    Other information has been gleaned from truckers and bus drivers who call in  on an overnight Mexican truchers' radio program.    The Gringo Viejo has, over the years, always found their gossip and news to be reliable.     We have also taken information from local radio reports from the Tempoal AM news and information radio...XETI -750am, as well as certain television reports from TV - AZTECA and Televisa....which seem to have been reliable and not laden with political commentary.

     Anyone wishing to have a translation of the articles below can request one....perhaps after these next days up in Central Texas...there will be time to do a fair and complete formal translation worthy of the OROG community.

11 personas perdieron la vida en el Higo Veracruz confirma Sedena

Personal militar repele agresión armada en el poblado de El Higo, Veracruz
La Boticaria, Ver.- En relación a los hechos suscitados en esta fecha en el municipio de Pánuco, Ver., en los que “lamentablemente” fallecieron 11 personas como consecuencia de los asaltos y agresiones en contra de la población por parte de integrantes del crimen organizado, la Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional condena categóricamente estas reprobables acciones y expresa sus más sentidas condolencias a los familiares de las víctimas.
Asimismo, por conducto de la Comandancia de la VI Región Militar se informa que en el marco de la Estrategia Integral del Estado Mexicano en contra del Narcotráfico y la Delincuencia Organizada, durante las primeras horas de esta fecha, al atender una denuncia ciudadana referente a que en la carretera Pánuco-Tantoyuca, Ver., un grupo de individuos armados se encontraban asaltando a varios autobuses de pasajeros y agrediendo a la población civil, personal militar del Ejército Mexicano perteneciente a este mando territorial procedió a trasladarse al citado lugar para ubicar a los agresores y salvaguardar la seguridad de la población.
Al efectuar reconocimientos en la mencionada área localizaron a un grupo de individuos, quienes al detectar la presencia militar agredieron a las tropas, por lo que los efectivos castrenses repelieron la agresión, falleciendo en el lugar de los hechos cinco agresores y asegurando cinco armas largas, 58 cargadores diferentes características y un vehículo.
Es importante señalar que este grupo de delincuentes durante las primeras horas de esta fecha, en el poblado de El Higo, Ver., privaron de la vida a tres personas que se encontraban cargando una camioneta de verduras y en otro punto de la población arrojaron una granada provocando la muerte de una persona más.
Posteriormente, sobre la carretera a Tempoal, en el punto denominado la “Y” asaltaron un autobús en donde asesinaron a dos pasajeros; después continuaron sobre la misma carretera para detener a un segundo autobús sobre el que efectúan disparos de armas de fuego, ocasionando el fallecimiento de otras cuatro personas; para verificar lo sucedido, el conductor de un tercer autobús descendió de su automotor y fue asesinado por los citados delincuentes.
De estos hechos tomaron nota las autoridades correspondientes, ante quienes quedaron a disposición los cuerpos de los occisos y lo asegurado por las tropas.
Con estas acciones el Ejército y Fuerza Aérea Mexicanos refrendan su compromiso de salvaguardar y proteger a todos los mexicanos, actuando con estricto apego de la ley y respetando en todo momento los Derechos Humanos.

ENFRENTAMIENTO ENTRE SICARIOS Y MILITARES EN EBANO, SLP - EL EJERCITO GANO' - 8 A 0

San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí.- Ocho asaltantes murieron abatidos en un enfrentamiento con el Ejército luego de que atracaron ayer por la mañana una sucursal de Bancomer en Ebano.
Los hechos se registraron a las 10:30 horas en la sucursal Bancomer ubicada en la avenida Vicente Guerrero y calle 1 de Mayo.
De acuerdo con la información proporcionada por las autoridades los delincuentes viajaban a bordo de una camioneta roja, y al llegar a la sucursal bancaria tres sujetos fuertemente armados ingresaron y tras amagar al personal y a los clientes les exigieron la entrega de todo el dinero.
Luego de obtener el botín el grupo de asaltantes salió del banco para huir con rumbo al oriente, hacia Pánuco, Veracruz.
A los pocos minutos arribaron a la institución efectivos militares y agentes de la Dirección General de Seguridad Pública del Estado, quienes establecieron un cerco policial sin resultados inmediatos.
Pero más tarde, hacia las 11:00 de la mañana, los asaltantes fueron reportados cerca de la comunidad conocida como “Calentadores”, municipio de Pánuco, Veracruz, donde efectivos militares habían montado un retén, les cerraron el paso sobreviniendo entonces el enfrentamiento a tiros.
Los delincuentes intentaron huir, pero fueron abatidos a balazos por las fuerzas militares.
Al lugar de los hechos acudió personal forense del municipio de Pánuco, Veracruz, para hacer las diligencias del caso, ya que el poblado “Calentadores” se encuentra en la entidad veracruzana, a unos 20 minutos del puerto jaibo.

En un evento muy diferente sucedido en Tamasopo, resultó herido de un balazo en un glúteo el joven Mauro Quintero Huerta, hijo de la secretaria del Comité Directivo Estatal del PRI, Rosa María Huerta Valdez. Se desconocen los pormenores de la forma en que ocurrió este hecho, pero circuló otra versión en la que se indica que Mauro Quintero Huerta fue herido en el enfrentamiento de elementos del Ejército Mexicano con los asaltabancos la comunidad conocida como “Calentadores”, municipio de Pánuco, Veracruz.

Take Latin out of the Catholic mass, take Old English out of the Anglican mass, take Mandarin and Cantonese and Japanese and other calligraphic characters out of the Oriental languages and great writings (replace with western alphabet and pronunciation) and soon entire nations, ethnicities, races, and other diverse human groupings will have no past.....and therefore no future.

       Ranks up there with, "We'll have to vote for the bill to find out what's inside of it"....and Harry Reid's, "These people coming here as tourists really smell bad..."   And these are the leaders.    The indolently rich....Kerry and his catsup widow, the Kennedys...none of whom could ever fill one finger of the glove of John Kennedy....and 80% of the rich who are, in fact, liberals and socialists  dedicated to the idea of "let them eat cake, but only after we take away their bibles and their pick-up trucks and their guns...so tacky, you know.     Take faith that the GOP elected "officials" will have an avalanche of ire dumped on them during the Kwanzaa / Solstice Vacation Period by other elephant-people in their districts. The eye-0n-the- ball part of all of this for us is to put the Keystone Pipeline into service.   The next action to take is to allow the Social Security tax holiday to expire in the next (Republican) budget, and simultaneously trumpet the attendant reduction of the income tax withholding back to where it was before the Social Security Tax Holiday period....and then start moving the Social Security Ponzi Scheme into a system more like the Texas Public Employee Retirement System and the Texas Teachers' Retirement System.   That way, the Democrats and the marxist elitists will not be able to flog that mule every two years to try to scare geezers to death (actually it doesn't work as well as the Democrats think, that's why they had to come up with the SSI bribe). It should be of some interest that in Mexico, Christmas is an important issue. Beginning on the 12th of December the entire Republic, no matter what, goes into kind of a slow motion brought on by the Celebration of the Apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the Otomi' Indian man in 1532. The appearance occured, ostensbily, on the Hill of Tepayac, situated on the northeast corner of the the most intensely populated part of what is present-day Mexico City. You are spared the explanations about the solution to the problems presented by this apparition. Suffice it to say that all Mexicans pay serious homage to the Virgin de Guadalupe as this apparition of Saint Mary is known. All Mexicans...observant Catholics, non-participating Catholics, atheists, agnostics, Jews, non-Spanish-speaking Indians, foreigners, Protestants, and the entire rest of the country is committed to the celebration of this Apparition and its importance to Mexico.

It is commonly observed that Yahweh and Esua are only God and Son, while Mary is the Mother of Mexico. During the days leading up to the 12th of December and the days shortly after, there is said to be the arrival and departure of 3,000,000 visitors, pilgrims, visitors, and other sorts of interested participants and bystanders. Numerous Indian dance groups and Matachines....people from parishes throughout Mexico who form Indian dance groups but who are not specifically this or that nation or tribe of Indians. The whole affair is crowded, but strangely calm and clean. It is rare that there is an incident such as a robbery or pickpocketing....and the restrooms stay clean and functional...in my experience.

Another popular event around Christmas, Las Posadas:

The Posadas, returning to popularity after a couple of generations of neglect, have come to the fore again. This involves known people of the area and/or neighourhood going around in a group to sing Advent and Christmas anthems and to deliver a doll/effigy of the Christ Child for safe-keeping until the same or slightly larger group comes around again to sing and pray and then take the Christ Child on his search for an appropriate place to be born (rest his head) or otherwise fulfill the prophesies. El Gringo Viejo has a hundred or a thousand stories about this event. It is very noble....but at times....shall we say, interesting.

This is a picture of prep-school types conducting a Posada in their
neighbourhood. There are rules, but there is a lot of variation in the application
of the traditions.

The Posadas can be participated in everyday attire or with folkloric garb, or coat and tie and party dresses, or in regalia identical or reminiscent of that worn by people of the era and the area concerned with Bethelehem. It can be all adults or a gaggle of school classmates or a mix of the two. It can be unsponsored or a very elaborate effort by a large parish. Protestant churches have posadas.

This particular Posada consists of children from a
local Parish Church. By their attire it could be assumed
that they are in southern Vera Cruz State.

The posadas last for twelve nights, until finally on the 24th of December the baby finds that place where he can lay his head. Of course the next day is the Feast of the Nativity in the Orthodox Church and Christmas to the world of Jew, Gentile, and all the rest who know and love Santa Claus. When the twelve days are finally past, the devotions of the faithful will have included at least 50,000 Hail Marys and 30,000 other prayers of intercession and consideration.

Something of importance to submit to the attention of the OROGs is the fact that although Mexico during the 1900s...and at other times during the 1800s....and until very recent days has been an officially and stridently anti-Catholic country. It seems strange, perhaps, but it is true. Much of the Revolution of 1910 was fought to re-invigorate the Laws of Reform included in the previous Constitution of 1857, which essentially called for the total expropriation of the Church and all its properties. The Constitution of 1917 is vigourously anti-Catholic specifically and fairly anti-religious in general.
To this day, all churches, new, old, or ancient have to be titled to the central government's Secretariat of Government (the most important of all the Secretariats). Anymousity between the Church and the government lessened in large part when the National Action Party (PAN) took over the Presidency in the last two elections. The old government party, the PRI seemed tired of defaming and demagoging the Catholic Church and going through the motions of enforcing the several hundred specific Constitutional prohibitions of certain acts, rights, and prerogatives allowed the common citizenry but denied to the Roman Catholic Church and its priests, nuns, and schools.

Anti-clericism and anti-Catholic and anti-Christian and anti-religious sentiments still abound within the ranks of the intellectually ever-duller Mexican Left. Their hatred for the unseen is absolute, so much so, that one wonders if they believe in the oxygen they steal from the breathing believers. Should the left sweep to power again it would be inevitable that the persecutions, closings of churches and other repressions would begin as they did in the 1920s. In those years Mexico suffered another war, the Guerra de los Cristeros (Christers' War) in which the central (marxist driven) government lost some 40,000 soldiers in 4 years of war and disorders and the Cristeros lost about the same number, principally in Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi', Michoacan, and Jalisco States. Disorders took place throughout the nation but the most involved area was the very centre....are area still to this day thought to be "more Catholic than the Pope".

Still to this day, it is illegal and anti-Constitutional for Mexicans to march publicly (under the canopy of the sky) with a curate, priest, or other identifiable Catholic officiate during a public religious celebration. But still in all, Mexico is a strange, contradictive, and compelling place. Therefore, when one travels throughout Mexico, even in areas where the leftist PRD party is in charge, one will encounter publicly placed announcements proclaiming, "Feliz Navidad! or Feliz Navidad y Prospero An~o Nuevo"....and one will find, on public and private grounds, building, facilities, or where ever, humble to incredibly elegant and intricate Scenes of the Nativity....with manikins and/or living people and animals.

This is on one of the main downtown thoroughfares
in Mexico City. Behind the Three Wise Men one can see
the Emblem Mountains of Mexico City, the always
snow-capped Popocatapetl and Ixtoccihuatl.

Banners and pennants can be seen in Social Security Hospitals, government offices, public schools and universities with religious scenes and even prayers of homage. A palacio municipal with a green, white, and red (incandescent) lighted "Protegenos, Virgincita, a tu familia" (Protect us, Little Virgin, your family) or "Rogemos para la Paz, Sn. JesusCristo" (We pray for peace, Lord Jesus Christ), or the sounds of "White Christmas, and God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" and the like are heard from stem to stern everywhere in Mexico, public or private, without apology....everywhere scenes of the event in Bethelehem.

Below, one can study the Scene of the Nativity on the ground floor, to one side of the main stairs leading up to the action area of the Palacio Nacional....the Center of the Mexican National Federal Government....on the Zocalo in the center of Mexico City. Some of Diego Rivera's marxist inspired frescoes are seen in the background. Quite a nice arrangement, actually.

Anyway, it was just our thinking that perhaps this might be one of the small reasons that El Gringo Viejo might feel a bit more in a zone of normalcy of the olden times. Typical song of lament of a geezer, I am sure.

The Return of Curly

      It was good to see Curly back in Hollywood. He has been out for so long, and we all missed him.      It turns our he's been out doing role research and visiting places in Latin America. There are rumours that he and Michael Moore are in collaboration with the Obama White House concerning a movie about how millions of Mexicans, Canadians, and Americans are swimming and tubing to Cuba to gain opportunity for business and employment, as well as access to their famous free medical

The debonair Mr. Moore, reciting the Rosary and the
Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag at the last state
convention of the Catholic War Veterans.    This is shorty after
being granted a restraining order against Angelina Jolie for
her compulsive stalking of Mr. Moore.

          The problem is that because of the American "Blockade" of Cuba, only 195 nations of the 196 that presently exist trade with Cuba. Since there is absolutely no commercial connectivity between the United States and Cuba, the United States accounts for only 77% of the foreign income that arrives in Cuba via family "remesas" and other American-originated activity.

Because the Americans are meanies, the Cuban economy is now the 2nd poorest per capita in the New World. Curly and Michael Moore are almost certain to be going to Venezuela to collaborate with the democratically elected President for Life, Michillin Pillsbury who is creditted with having elevated Venezuela from 6th place in the New World per capita income line-up in 1980 to 23rd place in 2010. Since the number 23 is bigger than 6, President Michelin Pillsbury has declared that there is now almost four times less poverty in Venezuela, and also, four times fewer people in the wealthy and middle classes. When asked by a reporter about the impossibility of having "four times fewer or four times less"....that perhaps it should be accurately stated as one-fourth as much...President Pillsbury sent the reporter on a 32-year paid vacation. His daughter was sent to the Venezuelan Prison for Male Pyschotic Murderers on a scholarship to study applied criminology. Never underestimate the generousity of President Michelin Pillsbury when he is paying bills with other peoples' money.

Curly is going to be making an announcment soon about the possibility that Arnold Schwarzenegger may play the lead and title role for the new movie, which will be titled "Return of Evita" . It is all about Frida Kahlo, and how Hillary Everest's conquering of Mount Rodham influenced Frida to make movies for little girls' inspiration. Since the movie is determined to appeal to sensible adult and mature audiences, the Peoples Republic of North Korea will loan the embalmed bodies of both Kim Dad Ded and Kim Son Gone to be included in every scene along with the embalmed bodies of Nikolai Lenin and Uncle Joe Stalin. Selma Hayak and Louise Ciccone will play Siamese Twin reverse-transgendered daughtsons of sub-commandante Marcos. The embalmed body of Frida Kahlo, along the the red flag with the hammer and sickle that was draped over her body at the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City will play the role of Jose, the taxi driver who knows everybody and every place. Leon Trotsky will be played by Hillary Rodham due to their look-alike screen presence. Barney Frank will play Miss Kitty.

Eric Holder has taken the American marxist refuge. When ones actions cannot be defended in any reasonable manner, it is necessary to begin flailing the term "racist" at ones opponents and assuming an expression of sneering contempt.

He ties himself to that other paragon of Americanism, Barack Hussien Obama, and declares that he and his immediate bureaucratic superior are both victims of that horrid disorder that only exists in America. No other place. And it is only practised by people who have a strain of Southern ancestry, who are Caucasian, Protestant, preferably Anglo/Saxon or Teutonic/Saxon, who own guns, and are, obviously, meanspirited.

Eric Holder says that discrimination against him is the same as that which is heaped upon the poor, hapless victim Obama because he and Obama are African Americans. The problem, of course, is that Barack Hussein Obama is not an "African-American" in any American sense. The Gringo Viejo was perhaps among the very first to point this out during that ghastly 2008 election episode when almost no one knew anything about Barack Obama....about his ancestry, about his collegiate and post-graduate studies, about his proclivity to vote "present" on almost any piece of legislation, about his saturation with communist and anti-American instruction and associations, about his lack of any significant history, substance, concrete accomplishments, or attachment to any philosophical guidance save for marxism. He has no blood-line that in any way represents the history of the Negro race in the British Colonies, the Dutch or Spanish periods or areas, nor the French New World experience. Barack Hussein Obama is not an "African-American". He is a marxist-American.

BHO was like his father in one way....being pretty much dedicated to the sale and consumption of cocaine during his college days. His father was better, because he could mix his drug use with copious amounts of alcohol. His father was better, playing out his own minstrel blackface show by becoming the stereotypical stereotype of a KKK Grand Wizard's stereotypical depiction of a Negro male. University people loved BHO's father, however, because he was "inspired".
One could tell he was "inspired" because of his writings. His writings, papers, treatises and such were almost illiterate jibber, dealing with topic somewhat related to his hatred of white people, The United Kingdom and its Royal House, his lust for women, his hatred of free enterprise, colonialism, and....always....for white people who had pale skin.

     Barak Hussein Obama's father fit in well with another stereotype. It's so easy to hate America when you have the Americans paying you to do it.
      Perhaps Auntie Zietuni can qualify for an in vitro process and become a baby mother so she could pick up an extra pittance through AFDC/WIC/and stamp allocations.   In Massachusetts that would amount to an extra 15k per year if she could sell her checks and stamps for 50% on the dollar at the liquor store on the corner.    She could even take her payout in lottery tickets.    After all, she and Uncle Onyango are on a roll.
     Eric....Barack....the Old Gringo is really sorry about all the racism you all have had to suffer.   More money is on the way to the IRS so that you can send more and more folks some more "gettin' even" money.   That money makes their lives better and gives them that uplifting sense of personal value.   It liberates them from the bondage of dependency.    Right?

More Glimmers of Normalcy

Old fools are the hardest ones to convince and then, at times, to be re-convinced. It is not my wish to plow over ground that cannot be broken. It is hard on the plow. It is even harder on the mules.
So, that is why, when somebody asks me about "the situation" in Mexico and I respond and then the questioner contradicts me....my conversation is over. The second party can say whatever he wishes, but the Gringo Viejo neither responds nor hears. The usual case is that the less a person knows about Mexico....the less he has been throughout Mexico....the less he has experienced things in and about Mexico....the less he has studied matters concerning Mexico, and the more he relies upon authoritative news and information sources, then the more he knows that he knows more about Mexico and most other things than I.

El Gringo Viejo will continue to post certain facts and interpretations for the benefit of OROGs. Most OROGs are sharp people. Most are as smart, if not smarter, than the Gringo Viejo. It is up to the OROG to determine how he or she will stuff his or her pipe with the information provided here, and whether he or she will light the pipe with a match or with a BIC.

T0-day, after Mass, El Gringo Viejo and his long-suffering wife had an extremely pleasant conversation with another couple in the Parish Hall. It turns out that that we had common interests in various things, as one might suspect. The conversation turned to whether the Gringo Viejo thought that the news, generally being disseminated here on the frontier, about relative stability becoming the rule again, is true. They were considering going down to Cd. Valles, in the eastern part of the State of San Luis Potosi' to visit relatives. Last year the same relatives said not to go....too problematic....etc. Now they say those same relatives are declaring everything to be normalised. They asked the Gringo Viejo's opinion.

Standing there, four people, face-to-face, in real time, it was necessary to make a final judgement, about how to answer these reasonable folk. It was necessary to say, that for all practical purposes, the family was correct. The caveat was put in place that one should be reasonable and call or check ahead....study the situation at the moment....but that it is reasonable to assume that things are a mix of almost normal, normal, and better than the used to be even before the disorders.....better police, more military, better highways and bridges, better facilities....all the physical plant has continued to improve even during the Cartel mess. There are still isolated incidents. There is still the criminality (or a little less) that one might expect to find in a country with the demographic of Mexico. There are still the lunatic political manifestations that occur here and there at various points on the map.....like always. But....it is....dare one say....beginning to look a lot like normal.

One little barometer is the following. Last year there were no hunting permits and gun license permits issued for American hunters looking to bag the famous Mexican mule deer that are found in the great barren, mountainous and desert-like extensions of Northcentral Mexico....overlapping the two northern States of Coahuila and Chihuahua. The disorders had taken the number of hunters involved in the commercial business of the mule deer season down from around 3,500 American hunters in 2006 to a big fat zed (zero) in 2010. This year, the Secretary of Agriculture/Department of Forestry and Wildlife issued 1,600 permits for the taking of one mule deer to foreign applicants. An identical number of hunting rifle importation permits were issued by the Secretary of National Defense. All such permits must be signed and authorised by a Mexican Army General, either active or retired and commissioned for such action by the Secretary.

The relationships between the hunters and their Mexican and/or American guides and organisers are very private, very confidable, and very, very personal. The American operators are people who have been through every up and down imaginable doing business in Mexico. They are willingly mired in the mess and they love the fishing and hunting business and the people and the locale where they perform their services. Their Mexican interfaces are the same....and the times the Mexicans provide.... the astounding geographic settings, the food, the liquor and beer, the camaraderie, the hunting and/or fishing experiences are legendary.

       Many Mexicans think that the involvement of the American hunters has resulted in the massive rebounding of the mule deer, brown bear, quail, migratory geese and duck, and types of dove populations.   Ducks Unlimited of Mexico has been very contributive.   The improvement in Mexican enforcement of basic husbandry and conservation rules and laws has had considerable impact as well.    The return of the Gringos to the field and lake marks another step in the slow return to normalcy....only this normalcy will be to a better level than what existed before.

The local press is composed of nice people who have that wondrous opportunity to be inside of a television rather than plasti-molded into a sofa or recliner looking at a television. Those who are not inside the television are fortunate enough to put their names on human interest article of the season. You know....those joyful stories about....

"......due to the government cutbacks on medical and social services put forward by the Republican legislature this is not going to be the Merry Little Christmas that Mary Ann Wompleduffer was hoping to have for her seven children. It's especially bad this Christmas because her house burned down again three weeks ago, "ironically" just like last year. She and her whole family are living in the back of an old abandoned pickup over on the edge of the stockyards and slaughterhouse, next to the sewer plant.

"Ironically, Christmas falls on the 25th again with is always the same day as Mary Ann and all of her children were born....and they have a connection with Jesus, because, "ironically" he was born on the same day. And they were really poor, too. Many people think that it is "ironic" that Mary Ann's name is just like Jesus's mother's name and that there are so many parallels between their situations.

"'Ironically' Mary Ann's plight was made worse because of the Republican sponsored cutbacks in basic social safety net programs that were provided originally by Barak Obama and the Democrat sponsored legislation that was stopped before it could arrive to Mary Ann, who is so similar to Mary and so many Americans in this never ending recession.

This is an aside to the post we made previously, which is probably more informative and interesting. El Gringo Viejo is putting this in so that people can understand all the complications concerning firearms and especially low-quality firearms such as those that are of recent manufacture in Red China and Romania and other Eastern European countries. The WASR-10 was popular at one time but no longer. Coupled with the improper usage and poor maintenance practiced by the criminal and psuedo-revolutionary movements presently found operating in various theatres of the world, the entire suite of AK weaponry and AR knock-off from Red China make very poor armaments. Good once, twice, maybe three times...then, watch out! Please read the following posting by a gun expert and private collector, published not long ago on a gun enthusiast site.

DO NOT GET THE WASR..... Last Sunday afternoon my Romanian WASR 10 EXPLODED at 4 in the afternoon... Thats right blew up!!! I have owned several AK47 rifles in the last 25 years and this one is the worst gun that ever happened to me.... Luckily I had my safety glasses on and this hat I had on took the brunt of the receiver cover blasting me in the head.... I spent 3 hours picking schrapnel steel out of my face, arms and neck.... Every day for the last 4 days I have been picking steel particles out of my arm..... I took the rifle to a gunsmith and it is inconclusive what happened to the rifle. He suspects either the bolt wasnt completly shut when it fired or it was a hot powder charge in the cartridge..... This particular AK I bought about 5 months ago and put approximately 1100 rounds thru it. It was cleaned after every use so I am a little miffed as to what happened.... Fortunately the bolt didntschrapnel into my face, neck and left inside of my wrist where the magazine plugs in....... BUY A BETTER GRADE OF AK47 RIFLE. Forget the WASR.....

Issues about Mexico, Mexicans, and things that relate to American and Mexican interaction is the continuing theme of A Gringo in Rural Mexico. During these days of Advent, the Gringo Viejo will try to employ a bit of nostalgia, a tad of rancour, a smidgen of humour, and a dash of reason.

The issue with Mr. Holder is cut and dried. He is a marxist, American-hating, and truth-be-known, like a lot of extreme left-wing activists, he is also anti-Mexican. He is especially anti-Mexican at times when Mexico seems to be edging, like a blind person feeling his way around a new room, to the political right. The further Mexico matures away from the "inevitability of world socialism" the more desperate the marxist agencies become in America and Europe to defame and denigrate Mexico. Admittedly, there are times when Mexico becomes and remains its own worst enemy, as when an otherwise reasonable and inspired President Felipe Calderon makes stupid statements during an address to a joint session of the United States Congress.....but he fell for the idea put forth by the left in both countries that he could advance anything with the American people by saying something uselessly offensive. Such things only serve to damage him and overall relations, as he quickly learnt.

Holder is a piece of work. He is the anti-American slug who did the heavy paper-work shuffling to arrange the pardon for the Puerto Rican terrorists at the end of Billy Jeff's illustrious term of president. While Hillary Rodham was demanding a pardon for a particular Jewish personality who was associated with a sect that normally votes Republican, Holder was waiting outside the Oval Office to pick up Billy Jeff's signature for Marc Rich's pardon.

Hillary's intervention cost the Jewish sect's leaders about 90,000 dollars in campaign contributions, and the "Free Marc Rich Fund", (Marc Rich's ex-wife), paid Billy Jeff 400,000 dollars to the Little Rock Taj Mahal Library Project. The processor for all of it was the estimable Mr. Holder, the lapdog of Gorelick and the butler to Reno.

It would follow, of course, that the law firm from which Holder was extracted has a long, long, long record of intervening on behalf of agents, individuals, and groups whose main justification is to wake up in the morning and blame America. They are the people who arrange flights for Elian Gonzalez to be "liberated" from Disneyland and flown back to Fidel so that he can be close to his father and enjoy the advantages of living in a workers' paradise.

The Republicans err in not making alliance where alliance will aid the issue. They should point out repeatedly that the "Fast and Furious" program has resulted directly in the death of a member of the United States Border Patrol....a Marine veteran of Iraq. But they should also repeat, repeat, repeat and then repeat again, again, and again that the entire reason for the establishment of the program was to defame "gun dealers" and "gun shows" in order to close down those establishments and institutions. Even when it became clear that was the probable motive, Holder still insisted on having Obama issue an "executive order" requiring more stringent imposition of un-legislated rules and regulations concerning sales of "long-barrel" firearms in the States of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and the Peoples' Republic of California.

Chutzpah, I believe is the word. "Stuff it" is the way John Kerry's elegant, beautiful, and refined wife would express the administration's attitude towards reality.

The gun dealers and gun shows have had an excellent record in pointing out what they assume to be straw man purchases. They have done this over the years at great danger to themselves.

The myth....or better stated, the lie....about the drug cartels arming themselves from American gun store-shelves is laughable and ridiculous. It was a convenient intellectual hidey-hole for the Mexican left to use and point out how evil the Americans are and America is. It was a convenient windmill for the American left to construct and use to point out how evil America is because there are homes that actually have guns in them.

A brief announcement was made about the incident, and then dropped out of the news mix by the MSM. There are reports from local observers that Mexican Navy personnel did remove approximately 130 (one hundred and thirty) 2.5 ton truckloads of "military material and other contraband" from the ship, and the ship has been blocked in port now by the Navy.

Mexico Makes Biggest-Ever Firearms Seizure

Federal authorities confiscated 911 guns from a container ship in the port of Lazaro Cardenas, on Mexico's Pacific, which was headed to Nicaragua. The guns were found on board a cargo ship en route to Nicaragua, during a planned stop at the Michoacan port of Lazaro Cardenas. The ship is believed to be of Turkish origin, but no information was provided on the origin or destination of the weapons. The operation was carried out by Mexico’s Navy, working with the Federal Attorney General’s Office and customs officials, and represents the largest seizure of illegal weapons in the country’s history, reports Milenio.The cache included several varieties of handguns and more than 750 shotguns. Organized crime groups generally prefer to use semi-automatic and assault weapons, like the AK-47 or AR-15. One variant on the AK-47, the WASR-10, is the gun most commonly seized within Mexico.

(El Gringo Viejo ran this article some days back. The ship that was "believed to be of Turkish origin was originally a Turkish ship , but has been in Red Chinese service for some time. Since this occurred, another Red Chinese ship came in, and we can understand why there might have been some purposeful obfuscation by the Mexican Navy about the provenance of the ship and the cargo. The number "911 guns" is laughable. We would urge that the reader consider the Headline of the above story, and not the body to consider the relative importance of the issue at Lazaro Cardenas. The Mexican navy has seized 226 tons of methylamine, a banned chemical used to manufacture synthetic drugs including methamphetamine, it announced today. The haul was found spread among 11 shipping containers in the Pacific port of Lazaro Cardenas. The containers had been shipped from China; East Asia is a leading consumer and manufacturer of many chemicals and drugs in the amphetamine-type stimulant (ATS) category, which includes meth and ecstasy. And Mexico's many traffickers are only too happy to profit—they're blamed for the bulk of synthetic drug imports to the US market.

      It is almost certain that the shipment cited above was also carrying large supplies of weaponry and munitions.    The oddity is that much, if not all, of the weaponry was destined for Nicaragua.   It is presumed by various observers that the "new, improved democratic" Daniel Ortega is arming a Liga Voluntaria Sandinista to begin a Che-like infiltration into Costa Rica, Honduras, and even Panama.   Democratic and other "reasonable" leftwing regimes in Central America poo-poo the idea in public, but in private it is taken very seriously.
Since the re-installation of Daniel Ortega....now under heavy pressure due to obviously rigged presidential elections recently conducted in Nicaragua....that Central American country has returned to being a re-arming, re-supplying, and R&R location for cartel traffic.   Mexico has become very precarious in recent times due to Calderon's war on the cartels.
      AND Therefore, to return to the issue, the Republicans, and the defenders of America and the American way, should....nay, MUST.....take out the large blanket and declare the following:

       The Cartel people want to poison your children.   They have allies high in the American entertainment and music industry.    They have allies among the cultureless, atheist, relativist, humanist zombie alliance throughout Europe, Latin America and North America.   "I'm okay, You're okay" is not a good catechism.
        ERIC HOLDER is guilty of conspiracy to implement an illegal policy, regarding the sale and purchase of firearms, which led to the death of an American Border Patrolman and other innocent American citizens.   By extension, he and his immediate subordinates, and his immediate superior are guilty of being accessories to murder in that they particpated knowingly and willingly in illegal acts that led to those murders.
       They are also guilty of the same crime in relation to the killings (murders) of as many as 10 soldiers in the Army of the Republic of Mexico, and perhaps as many as 5 sailors in the Naval Infantry of the Navy of the Republic of Mexico.   Forensic investigation strongly suggests that they AND as many as 10 innocent civilian individuals, including women and children, were killed as part of collateral loss during confrontatation between established civilian and/or military authourity of the Republic of Mexico and individuals involved in organised crime (cartels), or during incidents involving confrontations between different organised crime elements (cartels).
       That is is hefty charge, perhaps.   But, it is a true charge.   Mexican and American forensic examinations have determined that firearms involved in the "Fast and Furious" lunacy were involved in the loss of life above cited.    Dead innocent Mexicans, dead innocent Americans, all due to a seedy, vile, mendacious attempt to disarm Americans who have a legitimate right to ownership of firearms.
       And yes, El Gringo Viejo says mendacious because, like the term "hope and change", everything about the establishment, operation, and cover-up pertaining to the "fast and furious" lunacy has been devious, deceitful, and mendacious.    And unjustifiably deadly.

The basic premise seems to be Republicans say, ‘Okay, Democrats, we'll give you the unemployment extension, we'll give you the extension of the payroll tax holiday. We want Keystone.’ And I understand there's other things, but they want the Keystone pipeline. My guess is if you send them back a bill that got rid of that other stuff you didn't like but gave them Keystone, done, everybody goes home for Christmas.”

I think if I were going to critique Harry Reid this morning I really wish we would stop with this dead on arrival, not going to go there and begin to have language like, ‘We're going to take a look at it and see if there's anything that we can agree on here and over the next couple of days try to come to an agreement.’ That's what's really going to happen, and I don't know why this place is so set on, you know, looking like we're combative all the time.”

Many who are doing the construction jobs will be able to obtain middle and high skill blue collar positions providing the necessary attention required to keep the pipeline running. These are career positions. The Democrat line that it's only 3,000 or 4,000 temporary construction jobs is not only wrong, it is a purposeful lie. When Obama talks about and jokes about "shovel ready" jobs....those non-existent jobs really are temporary, but little matter because as he confesses, laughingly, "There weren't quite as many as we thought there would be" when he was lying about the need to pass this or that new stimulus package.

PIPELINES ARE LIVING PEOPLE. They require constant attention, like children. These are positions that require people to live in the area, that pay from 30,000 to 60,000 dollars per year. In non-union areas a guy can work and not have to kiss some union boss's big toe and live in some Podunk place in western Kansas with no pollution, low crime, no traffic and still be in decent range to see major league sports, hear the symphony, go to great parks and museums, and have schools where the students don't have to worry about gang violence.

BUT! HORRORS OF HORRORS! Middle and high-skill blue-collar people have a disgusting habit of tending to vote Republican and conservative (yes, Virginia, even including union members....42%).

Your choice, Senator. Stand up and be counted, or blindly follow these peculiar people whose only known mission is to damn the successful and the self-reliant, and to lump all reasoned thinkers into a group called racist.
