Both Damon & Naomi and Dean & Britta are heading out of the US for dates during November. Damon & Naomi, having just completed a North American tour with A Hawk and A Hacksaw are heading out east for six dates in Japan. The “Lost Gaijin tour” sees the couple setting out to visit previosuly unvisited parts of Japan using Japan Rail.

Meanwhile Dean & Britta head west for two dates in Spain as part of the Tanned Tin Festival and then on to the UK for a show at St Giles’ Church in London. The London show has support from Double Feature recording artist Cheval Sombre and features Sonic Boom.

First up a recording of their 13 Most Beautiful performance from 15th October (including Night Nurse and Tugboat as encores)

Next their in-store appearance with Sand Pebbles at Pure Pop Records on the 17th October.

I’ve only given a quick listen to a couple of tracks but both sound very good. Registration needed to download from DIME.

On Thursday Dean & Britta will be doing a special Q & A session at The Fairfax Studio, at the Arts Centre between 1pm-2pm – talking about the Warhol show, their soundtrack work, Luna, Galaxie 500 and more.

Also on Saturday they’ll be guesting at an instore appearance by Sand Pebbles at Pure Pop Records… actually probably an outside-instore as it seems to be in their “world famous Pure Pop Courtyard” – sounds like a must if you’re in the vicinity.

Sand Pebbles A Thousand Wild Flowers was the first non-Dean & Britta release on Double Feature Records.

Luna stopped off in Manchester for this session on Mark Radcliffe’s BBC Radio 1 show on the 13th December 1995. I remember staying up to record this. I went through my box of cassettes a while ago to try and find it but couldn’t track it down, which is a shame as I remember the interview being quite amusing… and at one point touched on the subject of, if memory serves, Angel Corpus Christi faxing intimate self-portraits to Dean.

Luckily the three tracks turned up on the Season of the Witch CD single put out by Beggars Banquet in 1996 (without the interviews but certainly better than my crappy FM recording).

Dean & Britta are playing at the very lovely St Giles-in-the-Fields church in London on Wednesday the 18th of November. The show is being put on by Sonic Cathedral and tickets are on sale now through WeGotTickets for £12.

This will be a regular Dean & Britta show (not 13 Most Beautiful). I’ll be there… you should be too.

This Friday, October 2nd, Dean & Britta’s record label Double Feature will be hosting a release party for the new album by My Robot Friend. The party is at 92Y Tribeca in NYC and kicks off at 9pm. Featuring sets from My Robot Friend and (Double Feature recording artist) Cheval Sombre (with Dean & Britta sitting in) as well as a DJ set by Dean Wareham. Tickets are $10.

The new My Robot Friend album Soft Core will be released by Double Feature on 13th October and features contributions from Dean Wareham and Alison Moyet. You can currently stream the complete album on Soundcloud (or right here on A Head Full of Wishes!).
