Hi everyone, I have a big annoucement: I now have my own Facebook page! There are many reasons for this!

First of all, I deserve one.
Second, mom says she doesn't have time to update my blog very often. Well, she can update my FB page from her phone, so no more excuses!
Everyone who knows me loves me, so this is a great way to let more people get to know me!

Finally - My Appearance on David Letterman!

At long last, my mom finally has my appearance on David Letterman on YouTube. Thanks to my grandpa for getting a high-quality version of it for me! Here it is!

It was so cool. Tim Robbins was on, and mom met him on the elevator coming back from makeup. One of the other doggie guests was not nice to me and tried to bite my face, so the staff put is in the actor's green room, and we got to meet Evanesence! They were very cool, and were very impressed with my tricks and how calm and well behaved I was with all of the commotion! The staff at The Late Show were great. They were all so nice to me, and many of them came by to meet me backstage! Lots of them said they missed their own dogs and really liked hugging me and spending time with me. I also got to stay with my humans in a really nice pet friendly hotel in Manhattan! It was a lot of fun.

I Want Justice for Bear Bear!

My mom's Justice for Bear Bear tank top arrived today, along with a bumper sticker. Mom can't wait to wear the shirt to the dog park!

I hope everyone saw the news yesterday that the shooter has been charged. It's not enough, but it's something. We truly hope that tougher animal abuse and cruelty laws come out of this tragedy.

There is now a web site dedicated to following Bear Bear's case and keeping everyone up to date. There is also a Cafe Press shop selling Justice for Bear Bear merchandise. The profits from the sales will go toward paying for Bear Bear's emergency treatment and his owners' legal fees.

In addition, here is an article from a local Anne Arundel County news station about the Rettaliatas' attorney questioning why it's taking so long to file charges, and how the Rettaliatas have asked for a supplemental case report but have not yet received it from the Anne Arundel County police.

One Week Anniversry of Bear Bear's Shooting

It has now been one week since Bear Bear was shot on Monday, August 2nd. It should not have taken this long to get answers to some very straightforward questions:

Was the shooter legally authorized to be carrying a personal weapon in a public park?
Why was Bear Bear's owner threatened with a taser and not allowed to go to Bear Bear for approximately 20 minutes?
Why did the police on the scene prohibit Bear Bear's owner from moving his dog?
Why did the Anne Arundel county police close the case in less than 24 hours and refuse to provide Bear's family with the shooter's name?
Why is it taking so long for the authorities to answer the question of whether the shooter was legally authorized to carry a personal weapon in a public park?

Many people think that the authorities are stalling, hoping that the topic of Bear Bear's shooting will be forgotten as new news stories arise, and that the public will lose interest and the authorities will then be able to quietly sweep the whole thing under the rug.

That is not going to happen. We must not allow it to happen. We must keep demanding answers and justice for Bear Bear.

Eye on Annapolis is Stonewalled by Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Director of Public Affairs

Eye on Annapolis asked four questions:

the officer a DOD employee

If not, is he employed by a contracted firm?

Is he required to carry a weapon while off duty?

Is he authorized to carry a weapon off duty?

Here is the reply they received:

Sir, Per your request: The police officer involved in the Severn, Maryland dog park shooting has been placed on administrative leave pending completion of the Anne Arundel County investigation. This is standard operating procedure for any of our officers under investigation. For information on the investigation, please contact the Anne Arundel County Public Information Officer at 410-222-8700.

We responded to see if she would address the questions as they relate to the Ft. Meyer installation. The email came back immediately with an “out of office” auto responder.

We have to keep the pressure on, keep this in the news, and make it clear that people will NOT forget about this, and we will NOT let it rest until we get answers and Justice for Bear Bear!

The Baltimore Sun's blog "Unleashed" has done an amazing job of staying on top of the Bear Bear story. Check their blog often, they have posted several updates today. The last two state that security is tight for tonight's meeting at the dog park, and the Humane Society is now investigating the incident as well.

There are also now two Facebook groups called "Justice for Bear Bear". Here is the first one, and here is the second.

There is also an online petition demanding justice for Bear Bear.

WBAL's Ron Smith interviews the owner of Bear Bear, a Siberian Husky shot at an Anne Arundel County, Maryland dog park on the evening of Monday, August 2nd, 2010.

If you haven't heard about this story yet, it's very distressing. Originally Bear Bear's family was being stonewalled by Anne Arundel county police, who said that there was no evidence of criminal activity, and that no charges were being filed, and they would not release the name of the federal police officer that shot Bear Bear. Bear Bear later died of his injuries.

Due to public outcry, an Anne Arundel County Executive today announced that he is demanding an investigation into Bear Bear's shooting. Bear Bear's dad sent a note to a local blog about how he and his wife had been getting stonewalled all day by the Anne Arundel County police.

The Baltimore Sun reported about 30 minutes ago that due to public outcry, the Anne Arundel County Police have reversed their position and no longer consider the investigation complete. Please contact the following people to let them know how you feel about this incident. We NEED to keep the pressure on to ensure that they follow through with a thorough and FAIR investigation.

If you were at the dog park and witnessed the incident, PLEASE reach out to John Leopold, County Executive, at jleopold@aacounty.org. You can also contact the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Public Affairs Office (where the shooter works) and ask that the officer is suspended and his weapon is taken away until a fair and thorough investigation has been concluded. Do it for Bear Bear and his family.

My good friend Meeshka lives near this dog park and posted about what her humans found out when they went to the dog park tonight to put up a memorial for Bear.

Mom toom me to the dogpark today since it has been 11 days and I was officially off of "bed rest". On the way there I was so excited I tried to climb into the front of mom's car! When we got there I really stretchedh my legs and RAN! Unfortunately my leg started to hurt again and I was limping and holding it up. Mom brought me home and gave me my medicine and put some frozen veggies on my foot to keep to from swelling. Back yo the vet on Monday!

I Found a Singing Partner!

Last Saturday at the dog park I met Willow, a 5 year old male Alaskan Malamute. Willow is even taller than me, and I'm a tall boy! He's a handsome boy who was very friendly and very vocal! At one point he was wooing up a storm, and I just HAD to go stand next to him and sing with him!

After Willow was done, I still had more to say. Mom says I sound like Tarzan in this one!

Yesterday we all got together for Mother's Day, and I got to see my cousin Chloe! She's little, but very strong. We had a good game of tug of war.
I have kind of a boo boo though. Yesterday and today my left front paw hurt all of a sudden, once when I was playing yesterday, and today I was jumping up to run. It just hurt and I stopped and held up my paw and cried. Mom ran over and put her arm around me and I leaned my weight against her. Within a few minutes I felt all better and was walking and running normally. Mom is taking me to the vet at 6 tomorrow evening. Please have good thoughts and prayers for me! Thank you friends.

You may have read before about how my humans try to get video of me singing in the car. Today mom was very sneaky and she set her phone to record video then laid it down on the seat so it would capture the sound! The video is boring, all you see is the roof of mom's car, but you can hear me singing along.

Notice how mom was even sneaky enough to keep singing herself, just like normal, to fool me? Here is part 2:

Of course I'm very annoyed with mom. When she played these for other people so they could hear me sing, I yelled at her really loudly!

Yesterday it was pretty hot here, so mom waited until evening to take me to the dog park. Lots of my friends were there. There was a puppy named Ralphie that I hadn't met before, he's a Chihuahua/Pug mix who is about 4 months old. Ralphie REALLY liked me and constantly follwed me, trying to sniff my butt even though he couldn't reach it. Mom thought it was really funny.

I was very patient with Ralphie since he is so young. Here are a few photos of some other nice dogs (and kids) that were there.
It was a fun time. Today it's REALLY ho, 90 degrees, so I am staying in the air conditioning all day! Stay cool my friends!

I hope all of my friends are having a great Easter weekend! My mom got up early (9:30 is early on a weekend!) and took me to the dog park for two hours! Then we came home and had lunch. Then mom left for a couple of hours. When she came back I sniffed two dogs on her! She also had a bunch of food and bottles. Turns out mom is having an Easter cookout tomorrow and Uncle Joey and Aunt Christy are coming over and they are bringing Chloe!
Mom did a lot of chopping and mixing, and put some steaks in the fridge to marinate. She was nice enough to cut off a few pieces of steak for me!

Then mom said she had to practice another recipe for tomorrow, but she didn't actually use any food. She did use her Siberian Husky shot measuring cup though.

Mom said she helped get two small female black Labs to their foster homes today. She said on holidays we should help those in need, and Abby and Wendy were in need. All legs of their trip were filled except for the Maryland leg from Gaithersburg to Hagerstown, so mom volunteered to help out. She said the girls were timid, very sweet, and were as good as gold in the car.
This is Wendy. She was very timid, but she was very good and let mom walk her around, and let mom hold her gently so her picture could be taken. She is 9 months old, and has some scars on her side, it looks like she was attacked by another dog.
This is Abby. Look at that grin! She knows she is almost at her foster home and her long day of travel is almost over. Abby and Wendy had never met before today, but they were great together.
I, of course, relaxed in the sun and enjoyed myself after all of my exercise at the dog park. Happy Easter everyone!

Play Date With Hero

Yesterday my mom and I met Hero and his mom at the dog park for a play date. We had a lot of fun!
Hero has a problem though: he is an obsessive humper. Mom laughs and says I used to be quite the humper when I was younger, but I KNOW I was never as bad as Hero! (Indy's mom - year right!)
Hero's mom finally had him in time out on a leash for humping. Here is Hero complaining about it to my mom.

As you can see, Hero was not happy!
Here I am with a bunch of other dogs: Vicka and Annie (the Samoyeds), Penny the GSD mix, and some other dogs having a howling session. Penny is the one who keeps barking in my face to get me to sing.

And yesterday we saw the biggest puppy in the world! Carly, the 13 month old Great Pyrenees, was trying to play, but she was the biggest dog there!

Thank DOG it stopped raining for a few hours this afternoon. Mom immediately took me to the dog park. She said something about me going stir crazy since it rained all day yesteday and all morning today. I met a 2 year old Husky named Hero, a 3 year old Husky named Meeka and a 13 year old Samoyed named Isis. It was a lot of fun!

Whew! I had dinner and am ready for a nap! HEY - I just realized that the Hero I met at the dog park today is Hero from The Story of Hero! How cool is that? Hey Hero, we should have our humans coordinate so that we can meet at the dog park again!
