Join members of NAWIC and AIA Blue Ridge for a virtual panel discussion focused on emerging trends in the design and construction industries, including: smart construction, economic development, design technologies, talent recruitment, and more.

This event is free. The panel discussion will be conducted virtually, allowing access and participation for all.

Prior to the discussion, beginning at 11am, there will be an optional in-person, socially distant, networking / lunch event in Roanoke followed by attendance in the virtual discussion. Thermal temperature screening will be utilized for those attending in person.

As a means to foster increased advocacy and develop future leaders in our profession and communities, AIA Virginia is launching a new program to provide advocacy training and connections to state legislators. These events, which will be held throughout the month of May, will allow you to take steps to make a difference and tackle the challenges of today and tomorrow.

AIA Blue Ridge invites all of our members to participation in AIA Virginia’s first ever ARCHITECTS SPEAK UP! event.

Registration will be open through Wednesday, April 21.

Note that all participants will be required to watch the designated training videos prior to their legislative meeting.

This June, AIA national will be launching their first-ever all-digital AIA Conference on Architecture.

A’21 will be a series of four unique online events that address firms’ business needs in a world whose economy has been impacted simultaneously by a pandemic, climate change, and racial inequity.

Each year the AIA Northern Virginia Young Architects Forum organizes seminars for those preparing to take the Architect Registration Exam® (ARE). The award-winning seminars offer the opportunity to learn from a professional in each discipline and use that knowledge in preparation for the ARE. All sessions offer AIA Continuing Education credits.

The 2021 schedule is posted below; note that all 2021 seminars are being held virtually. Check this site; updates will be posted as soon as they become available.

Continuing education credits are offered for all sessions. Advance registration is required and all sessions will be held virtually until further notice. Information on seminar access will be sent the day prior to each seminar.

• February 20 – Project Management, 10:00a-4:00p
  
• March 20 – Practice Management, 10:00a-4:00p
  
• April 17 – Programming + Analysis, 10:00a-3:00p
  
• May 15 – Project Planning and Design, 10:00-4:00p
  
• June 12 – Project Development + Documentation, 10:00a-4:00p
  
• July 17 – Construction and Evaluation, 10:00a-3:00p

Members can register for the entire series for $250; $400 for non-members. The schedule is subject to change.

The Saturday review sessions  cost $50 for AIA members and $75 for non-members per seminar. Cost includes study materials. Those who choose either series package are permitted one session cancellation with $50 refund for AIA members; $75 for non-AIA members

Cancellation requests must be received by email (via aianova@aianova.org) no later than 5:00p on the Tuesday directly prior to the seminar. Class materials from any refunded session will not be provided. Additional missed sessions will not be refunded, but will entitle attendees to receive any pre-/post-session class materials which the instructors may decide to make available. 

Individual Seminar sessions: For single sessions, advance registration is required by 5:00p on the Tuesday directly prior to the seminar. No refunds are available after this time. Class materials from any refunded session will not be provided.

AIA Blue Ridge invites you to attend our (virtual) Annual Meeting, which will feature short design presentations by this year’s Design Awards Winners as well as important chapter business. This is a great opportunity to catch up with your colleagues as we close out 2020 and look to next year.

**Melrose Avenue is a very busy and crowded street.  Please do not park on Melrose.  Please instead park on one of the side roads, 22^nd or 23^rd Street and walk around to the build site.  A better option would be to park in the paved cul-de-sac behind the Sun Trust Bank building and cross over to the build site.  Be very careful crossing Melrose.

Join AIA Blue Ridge as we support Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley for a day of community building.

With the evolving COVID situation and phased reopening, we are looking for up to 12 volunteers.

Volunteers will need to bring their own lunch and we strongly suggest their own work gloves.  Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy closed toed shoes like hiking boots.

Important policies:

• If you are feeling ill in any way, please do not participate in this build day.
  
• We will have a sanitizing station, but each volunteer is encouraged to bring their own disinfecting supplies for individual use.  Tools and common surfaces will be cleaned before, during and at the end of the build day.
  
• Please bring your own face covering.  With outdoor work and spacing, face covering requirements may be able to relax, but please have them available for any presenting close-proximity work. 
  
• We will not be providing communal coffee at this time.  Volunteers are welcome to bring their own coffee.
  
• We will have communal iced water as well as single use water bottles on site, and volunteers are encouraged to bring their own water.
  
• Snacks will be provided and all will be in individually wrapped packaging.  
  
• Volunteers will need to bring their own lunch and we strongly suggest their own work gloves.
  
• Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy closed toed shoes like hiking boots.
  
• Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.

Each volunteer will be asked to bring a completed copy of the waiver to the build site on that Saturday.
