In Johannesburg a group of beautiful people comes together on an irregular basis to gather in sacred circles. Some of these sessions are for men, some for women and some for mixed genders.

The idea is to create more conscious awareness, to practice compassionate listening, to explore topics, to discover how these topics relate to our inner being, and to come to understand how our masculine and feminine energies relate to and interact with them.

We gather in a comfortable space, a space that is open to all that were there before and to those who want to join us now.

In Johannesburg a group of beautiful women comes together every month to explore topics, to relate these topics to their femininity and to create more female awareness. They do so in a comfortable space, a space that is open to all that were there before and to those who want to join us now.

The theme of this specific day is finding peace within ourselves. We will explore the ways in which we connect to ourselves, we hold our space and we allow our emotions to surface in balance with ourselves.  

Unlike other months, Kate, the host of this circle, asks us not only to bring food and drinks for the concluding bring and share but to bring a donation for the Home of Hope as well. This need not be a financial donation, although that is much needed, but can also be something out of the list shown below.

Home of Hope has really touched Kate's heart and has shaken mine and we feel that support from the circle of women would be great. You can either donate as described below or bring along in which case Kate will pass it on.

Berea-Hillbrow Home of Hope

Berea-Hillbrow Home of Hope was founded in the year 2000 by Khanyisile Motsa.  She was touched by seeing street children being exploited and young girls who were sex workers.  She invited them into her home for tea and coffee and through interacting with them she saw the need for shelter, rehabilitation, food, support and skills. She then took in five (5) girls to stay with her. The girls knew others who shared their plight. With the girls assistance they managed to escape and were brought into Mama Khanyi’s care. Word of the refuge spread. More girls who shared the same plight arrived. The Home was born.

Mama Khanyi’s own savings soon ran out. A committee was formed. Many have helped but much more is needed.. She and her staff (mostly young girls she recruits and trains) regularly visit the blocks of flats in the area surrounding the shelter, itself housed in one of them.  They persuaded security guards and bodies corporate to put up condo-cans (containing condoms) and let it be known that they are there to talk and to help.  Out of this has arisen what MamKhanyi calls her “support groups”. Support groups range in size from seven to 30, although, she says 30 is too big and the biggest needs to be split.  Young men and women from the surrounding areas of Berea and Hillbrow come to them once a week.  

At the present moment BHHH accommodates 48 girls, between the ages of 0 – 24 years. Many have been trafficked and sold into sex slavery; typically they were recruited by agents who are working for the organized prostitution syndicates and pimps. The shelter has contributed a lot towards the rehabilitation of commercial sexual exploited children and many have achieved high pass rates at school.

BHHH has minimized dropouts at school and relapse amongst the girls that have stayed with them.  Many children that were enrolled in school have completed matric, tertiary education and they have also trained Peer Educators, Health Workers and some are now working. They formed and sustained seven (7) support groups for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.  They have open and closed support groups.  People are living positively through their support groups.  They also do skills training in the support groups and some have opened their small businesses.

The home is reliant upon donations and a few generous donors, there is a support group working to develop sustainable streams of income but the home is not yet there and so each month has to find the budget for clothing and providing shelter for 50 girls and administering the project. Another year is almost coming to its end and that gives us the time for reflection and to plan new action. Personally I was forced to do quite a bit of both lately. Being uncertain about my whereabouts, not sure whether I would get the permits that I needed to stay and work in South Africa or not, made me think and put things in perspective.

I thought about the two years that I have spent in this amazing country. I memorized the incredible people that I have met, that allowed me to interview them, to experience their lives, to share time, thoughts, feelings and emotions. I recalled those that became close friends, clients and partners, as well as the memorable individuals that briefly crossed my path, which I connected to for 5 minutes, an hour, a day. I relived the wonderful experiences, the adventures and the challenges that we lived through, as well as the losses that I suffered, the death of my grandfather, the distance between my Dutch friends, my family and myself, and I felt blessed.

I realized how incredibly grateful I am to all of you, for being part of my abundant life, and how appropriate it is to say thank you.

Never the less, fighting for permanent residency suddenly seemed final. A point of no return. It didn’t run smoothly. Was I ready to make that commitment? Then I realized that nothing is final, no choice is forever. All we have is the moment, this very moment. The moment in which you are reading, the moment that I connect to you and you connect to me. Never, was this moment more true. I got it, right there and then. Something clicked. I realized that commitment is an intention, based on a perception, based on a balance of presumed and alleged action, based on advantages and disadvantages that might and might not happen. I understood that commitment is a choice that allows us to move forward. Yet every new moment allows us to make different choices and thus to change action.

I decided to live the moment, to commit to the moment and to take action, action in the moment, not for the future, not because of the past but in the moment. Suddenly I knew, without a doubt in my mind, that I am, exactly where I am and exactly where I want to be, right now. A door opened. This program is the result. I am excited to present it to you. And I trust that I will find many more moments to connect to you. In 2009 Itta Roussos has started a female talking circle, a sacred space where women sit together and share experiences while connecting to their feminine powers.

It has been a couple of months since the last circle took place and many of us have missed it. The beginning of a new year seems a perfect opportunity to revive the circle and to reopen its space to all the beautiful women that were there then and to those who want to join us now.

The theme of this specific day is connectivity. We will explore the ways in which feminine energies connect, the ways in which we connect to our selves, to our souls and to each other.

Journey around the chakra's

A workshop that is a combination of theory, meditation and physical exercises, which teach you more about the chakras and allow you to work with them in a more practical manner. It is an amazing instrument that not only informs you about your incredible energy body, but can actually help you to take your life and your health into your own hands.

The journey covers the purpose of the seven major chakras. It explains how each chakra relates to specific physical and mental issues and ailments in our lives and it offers tools that will help you to clean your chakras and thus to work on these issues.

The workshop was developed by a company called 'Life is Good' in the Netherlands, and Djoeke is delighted to have received permission to teach it in South Africa.

Authentic living

This workshop is about listening, about hearing, feeling and understanding the voices that are whispering within. Often we are so focussed on the outside, on what we ‘need’ to be, where we ‘need’ to be, who we ‘need’ to be, that we don’t listen to these voices inside that tell us who we are.

Many of us have learned that we need to become better, smarter, thinner, more prestigious, etc than we are, and so have disconnected from our beautiful, bountiful and blissful source.

Through a series of exercises and meditations, this workshop will help you to discover your personal patters, your blockages and your blindfolds to that source, in a very profound way. It will help you to decipher limiting belief systems and unconscious behaviours that stand in your way and that prevent you from achieving clarity and great performance. This workshop allows you to deepen your connection and to bring complex matter back to its essence.

Outreach Programs

Pranic Healing is an ancient science and art that utilizes prana or life energy to heal ailments in the body. Ancient cultures practiced similar modes of healing known as shamanic healing, divine healing, healing by mantra, among others. In its existing form, Pranic Healing has been systematically and scientifically developed, revealed and taught globally by Master Choa Kok Sui.

Prana or Ki is the life energy which keeps the body alive and healthy. This energy is subtle but pervasive. The natural condition of the body’s energy is balanced. When the body’s prana or Ki is too much or too little, it becomes unhealthy. The result is the body is unable to function properly, and eventually presents symptoms of illness.

In Pranic Healing, physical ailments are treated through the energy body of the patient using prana, thereby assisting and accelerating in several degrees, the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

With patience and persistence, Pranic Healing is easy to learn.  As simplified by Master Choa Kok Sui, it is a transferable technology.

There are several levels of Pranic Healing.  Each of the levels is formally taught in internationally standardized modules, in about 18 hours per level. Proficiency is gained through constant practice and study.

The first level, Basic Pranic Healing, deals with the principles and basic techniques, enabling the student to heal simple physical ailments. You learn the basics of working with energy and energy bodies called aura’s. This includes:

• learning to “scan”, or feel the energy, to “sweep” or clean away congested energy, and to “energize” or supplement areas in the aura that have a pranic deficiency.
• energetic anatomy: You will learn to work with the network of charkas, meridians and auras to accelerate the healing processes of your body.
• preventive healing: You will learn to remove the negative energetic patterns of a disease to prevent it from fully manifesting as a physical ailment.
• Self-Pranic healing: You will learn to apply these healing techniques to accelerate your own healing.
• Step-by-step techniques for specific ailments like asthma, heart ailments, irritable bowel syndrome, arthritis and backpain, menstrual and fertility problems migraines and sinusitis.
• How to apply distant healing on those who are not present. Distance is irrelevant when using these simple techniques.

Basic Pranic Healing is module 1 of the Foundation Course which includes Advanced Pranic Healing and Pranic Psychotherapy. The fee for this module in Durban  is only R1700, discounted to 1500 for advance payment, and includes the book “Miracles Through Pranic Healing” by Grand Master Choa Kok Sui, a meditation CD – Meditation on Twin Hearts for Peace and Illumination – as well as lunch, coffee and teas.

Open healings are an amazing way to get to know Pranic Healing. After a short introduction in which I explain the essence of Pranic Healing and the purpose of the gathering, we start the session by doing the Twin Hearts meditation.

Twin Heart Meditation is a guided meditation that will help us to open our hearts and our crown chakra’s and to allow spiritual energy to enter and clean our bodies. It is also a great way to do world service  as it allows us to become a channel of love and peace and to send our blessings to the world.

After the meditation all participants get the opportunity to experience a pranic healing treatment if they want to. There are a couple of healers that will work simultaniously and will give basic treatments.
