Want to know how great you all did with turning in your Box Tops???

Well, I am going to tell you.

But First... a list of other things.

A) Do you have a business that you want to me to put up on the side of the blog telling our CC community about? Let me know the website link or email address and I will put it up. This is for YOUR business not a random business in town. Maybe you give piano lessons, or guitar lessons or art classes. Leave a comment and let us know. Maybe you sell Avon, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, or some other at home business. Leave a comment and let us know. I will take the information from the comments and put it on the side of the blog.

B) Have Netflix? Well it was shared with me that they have a Homework Help section. When you log onto netfilx check out the "Special Interest" section and you will see Homework Help. They seem to have several different videos you can stream right on your computer or tv OR that you can have sent to your house. Let us know if you have used it or if you do use it.

C) Before I tell you the total of Box Tops I have mailed and we have earned from the Publix Bonus Box Tops promotion, I want to encourage you to check out their website and make use of the online shopping feature. It is an easy way to help us earn anywhere from 1%-6% of your purchase amount.

D) The boxtop website link is on the side of the blog to make is easy for you :)

E) Now for what you really want to know. We have earned $154. That is almost half way to our goal of $350! Keep collecting the box tops and turning them in. Ask grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends,or neighbors if they will cut theirs out for you. Use the online shopping, especially now with the holiday shopping season here. Watch for a new promotion through Publix. There are many ways to get us to our goal but it takes us all working together. The next cutoff is the end of February.

Praise Report and some odds and ends

Just wanted to follow up since the last post and let everyone know that Massiel was released from the hospital earlier this week. Although she is home and doing better, prayers are still appreciated as she recovers in the days and weeks ahead.

Hopefully everyone had a great day for the start of our second six-weeks. I can not believe how quickly the year is flying by.

I have been looking for ways to use this website to build "community". If anyone has suggestions please feel free to share them. One thing I thought of is to post websites for any that might have a home based business. Not for the purpose of solicitation, or with any expectations but if you would like to post a link to your business website in the comments I can post it on the main webpage where people can access it.

With Halloween approaching does anyone know of a great pumpkin patch? Activities? Churches that have something different? A really great place to trick or treat so that we can all have candy that lasts us until next Halloween(or at least until Christmas so we can use it to fill stockings) ? What does your family do?

Prayer Request

Hello CC Families!

I am writing to ask for your prayers for one of our tutors, Massiel. She has been in the ICU for a few days due to clots on her lungs. Thankfully, she was moved out of ICU last night into a regular room. Her family right now is covered with meals and the kids are taken care of but our prayers for her would be greatly appreciated. Prayers that the clots dissolve relieving her of pain when she breathes and of her shortness of breath.

Hello Everyone! Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. My family and I spent the day watching some great college football games (GO ALABAMA!) and making vegetable soup. Basically, pretending it's fall. But, I wanted to take a moment to follow up with the Box Tops 4 Education information that I shared with you all on friday morning.

Box Tops is all about the difference 1 can make. This year, our goal is to raise $350.00. If we reach our goal then each family will earn at least $10 towards next years cost for CC. Hello all,

I hope your week is going well and that you are finding your CC studies exciting, enjoyable and a complement to your personal homeschool. I continue to be amazed at the things I am learning along with my children.

Thanks to the Bergman, Belisario and Baumann families for your entertaining introductions these past 2 weeks. Family presentation time is really such a good way for us to get to know one another. For many moms and students alike, it is the only opportunity to get acquainted with the presenting family since we all scatter to our children's classrooms and often don't get to fellowship with anyone except those families those same classes.

And speaking of fellowship, let me encourage you to stay for lunch if you can. It's not just for families with students in the afternoon programs. Lunchtime at CC is fun and filled with just what most of us like best...visiting with each other. Moms can talk and kids can play and it is a sweet time of fellowship and sharing. At CC we are together with like-minded families with whom we can build precious relationships. So if you're a Foundations only family and haven't built it into your schedule yet to enjoy lunch with us, think about adding it soon. It's just another way for us to build the closeness our community.

REMINDER: Our break week is October 8. We'll resume classes on October 15. This break is for all Foundations, Essentials and Challenge students.

REMINDER: We will be beginning our Tin Whistle study on Week 7 after the break. Round up those tin whistles. If you don't already have one per child, you can order them at the CC bookstore. They now have blue ones imprinted with the CC logo. Very cool :)

A couple of you have asked about placing a group order to the CC bookstore. Anyone needing materials can email your requests and I'll place an order with free shipping if we reach $250. There will be a new monthly special beginning Sept 1 so I'll not order until after that. I'd like to order this week though so those who are needing resources can get them in a timely manner.

The Difference a Year Makes.

    About this time last year I was crazily running around my house trying to get my 8 year old, nearly 3 year old, and my 3 month old ready for our first day at CC. The 8 year old was nervous. The almost three year old was a very energetic little boy, who had no interest in sitting quietly in his sister's class. The 3 month old was nursing A LOT. It was my first time going anywhere with all three kids by myself.

    We arrived late. Really, on the first day I was already late. How classic.

    Most of the day was a blur. What I do remember was trying to be cool and nurse the baby in my older daughter's class despite the fact that I had 2 dad's sitting next to me and I was about out of my comfort zone as I had ever been. I remember trying to chase after my son while at the same time nursing the baby. The day was mostly chasing and nursing. It was stressful. It was the least succesful day I could have imagined.

     It was one day down and 23 more to go.

    Just in case I had any doubts about my *fabulously, wonderful* first day, that evening it got better. I opened my e-mail and saw there was one from our CC Director. I read it and replied to her question. Also in my response I included about how wonderful my day had been and then hit send. A moment later I had a new email. It was from me. I had sent my response to everyone in our group. Once again, how classic!

    Over the following weeks I made changes to our schedule and ultimately our family had a successful year.

    Today was our first day of the 2010-2011 school year for CC Brandon. This year I had an excited and confident 9 year old. I had an almost 4 year old little boy, still full of energy, but ready for his first day in his own class. I had someone to be at home and love on my now 15 month old baby. We were still a few minutes late getting there - some things don't change.

It was a great day. Not sure it could have gone smoother for us. There are new people that my family is looking forward getting to know. There are old friends we are excited to see again. We will have good and bad days, but as Mary Ellen is always saying, allow yourself grace. Allow grace for the others in our growing community.

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to all our new families and welcome back to all of you returning families. It's easy to get overwhelmed by all the "recommended" resources. I suggest giving yourselves 6 weeks to acclimate to the CC methods and then decide if you'd like to keep it simple and focus primarily on memory work or dig deeper and hang content to the "pegs" you are putting in place. I am available any time to help you sort through it all so please just share what's on your mind.

I am excited about what God is doing and what's in store for us at CC Brandon in 2010/11. Thanks for all your prayers. Looking forward to seeing you at our orientation meetings - Thursday, Aug 19, 7pm and again on Saturday, Aug 21 at 9am for Essentials families
