Election

This is a big issue for Japanese that the world doesn't mention.

Last weekend, we have an election in order to choose candidates in Lower house and Tokyo's president at once. As you know, Japan faced a catastrophe in March 2011 and since then the needs of nuclear plants has been major concerned in the world. This election, however, didn't reflect this serious problem to a result. What's worse, people in Fukushima chose LDP candidates who have encouraged nuclear energy. Eventually, 4 candidates out of 5 from that party won the election in Fukushima prefecture.

What's wrong with Japanese? I wanna ask you.

Some people say that people chose them because the economic policy was a major concern in this election. So what? Why many people ignore the catastrophe that tons of people were killed. I'm not a researcher nor a worker. But I want to insist that Nuclear is too dangerous to live with. Who are going to be victims? The answer must be children. Who protect them? No one can do. No one wants to have a responsibility. wtf. I am just so sad being Japanese.

Chiang Mai and Pattaya

Then, I moved to the Northern Thailand, called Chiang Mai. I and my mom joined the activity in order to go trekking and ride the elephant.

At the night in Chiang Mai, we went to night market for shopping and dinner :) Also I had a massage, it was just 100 TB for 30 min (around 3~4$?) Women who massaged us were so funny. They said they were learning English and we studied English together. haha Actually one of them was really good at languages: she spoke a little Dutch, Chinese, Korean and Japanese. wow (*_*)

We flied to Bangkok and headed to Pattaya by bus.... There we did nothing but just stayed nice hotel and had relax.

Beautiful Unique Thailand

After the short trip of Shang Hai, I headed to Thailand. I've been to Thai in March this year, so this is second time of this year. Why I visit Thailand is that I'm loving Thai food and culture. Many Japanese visit Thailand and love it. I became part of them!

Last time, I visited Bangkok in order to meet Sulak Sivataksa. He is one of the effective social activists. His studies are based on Buddhism and he has been doing many activities as a teacher, a writer, an author, and founder of many organization. Besides, according his back ground of education in England, he has been publishing many books in English. Some are in Japanese as well.
At that meeting, he taught us how to deal with many problems in societies and in our mind. Also he talked about the recent Asian problems and the Asian history. After the meeting with Aja Sulak, I encountered the best meditation in my life.
I want to write about them but this time I don't, because what I wanna write is not about this experience. And if I write about Aja Sulak, I need to study more. I just want to mention that previous trip has influenced me to come to Thai again :)

Well, again, after the long transit of Shang Hai, I landed in Thai, Bangkok. I visited Japanese friend and went around Bangkok. Actually I was shocked to see very globalized cities because last time I'd only seen the good part of Bangkok. Each station has big shopping mall and some stations don't have much distances that I can walk. Can you believe this is in Thailand? That's what we call "globalization".

Day 2, I went to see some Traditional architectures. These were simply beautiful and amazing. Sometimes my mom appears on photos below. haha

One summer day

今年も去年に引き続き、友達と一緒に葉山にきた。

今年はぎりぎりシーズン最終日。台風の影響があって波がとってもたかかった。

だから波に乗っかって泳いだり、おぼれかけたりした。

お盆をすぎると、幽霊がかこの世にかえってきて、水につかると幽霊が足をひっぱるからいろんな人がつれていかれてしまうっていうのは有名なはなし？

お盆すぎると急に水の事故がふえるでしょ？

確かにそう。。。。だ。。。。

そういわれてからわたしは足がつかないところで泳ぐのがこわくなってしまった。

確か小学生くらいのはなし。今でもこわい。

Following last year, we went to our favorite beach in the end of Aug.

I am actually scared of swimming in the sea because I sense someone grabs my foot or leg and brings me to the hell or heaven. Seriously. Still I can't swim where I can't ground my feet. so I pray, please don't take me.

心をいやしてくれるし、食べ物や水という恵みもあたえてくれる。タダで。

うれしくなって、最近？もらった写真に収めたくなった。

"手紙"ってちゃんと自分の手を使って、自分の字で、言葉で表現するから素敵だよね。最近のデジタル化した世の中にもこうやって手をつかって書いてくれている人がいるのはうれしいな。

わたしはしゃべるのが本当にニガテなので、文章にしたほうが、じぶんを表現できるような気がするんだ。

I thought I've already known about America because of dramas, celebs, movies, whatever, but I didn't know anything. To be honest, my first impression is unfortunately the segregate. When I was in the airport, I recognized who's working as pilots and who's working as cleaners. I was feeling very misery because of my ignorance. I'm Japanese, baby, stupid, very protected, whatever.... who are not living in cultural and racial diversity. I should not complain very much because I'm a just stranger and I've seen very small part of it. I just want to remain what I felt at that time.

Hi there. (I know few people who's reading this blog..) This was about a month ago already. I had never had such money to travel to almost of the East coast but this was totally treated by the company. (instead I have to work there a bit but I'm so lucky and happy haha)
The places I went were Boston, New York, Orlando and Miami.. Get started from Boston

Happy birthday eve in America..... :) The quality of performance, audience and atmosphere were beyond my expectation. I just loved to be here.

No one denies other culture and Everyone likes where they live. I pretty like there. Any people from Europe, America, Asia or Africa... any countries like Singapore for sure! 29Feb to 12Mar 2012 I've been to Bhutan and Thailand. You might check most of them on my Facebook but I'm going to report what I studied about true happiness from my point of view. It's just my opinion, may be including some biases. I just want to remain my journey and tell how great it was... This time I'm going to write about Nature I saw in Bhutan.

3月1日から3月10日までブータンに滞在しました。フェイスブックで見てくれた人は大体分かるかもしれませんが、今回はブログでブータンについてのレポートをしていこうと思います。あくまでいち学生としての視点ですので、鵜呑みにしないでくださいね！f^^;)　今回はブータンの自然のことについてレポートします。途中で論点がずれますが、すべてはつながっているということでおおめに見てください。

美しい自然

Do you know GNH? The term "gross national happiness" was coined in 1972 by Bhutan's then King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, who has opened Bhutan to the age of modernization. He used the phrase to signal his commitment to building an economy that would serve Bhutan's unique culture based on Buddhist spiritual values. GNH mesures our happiness insted of GNP that mesues national welfare in the amount of stuff and money.

皆さんはGNHという言葉を知っていますか？日本語にすると国民総幸福と呼ばれ、国の豊かさはGNPやGDPで図られる世の中に1972年ブータンの第4代国王ジグメワンチュクが近代化の皮肉として打ち出した言葉です。今では国の要となっていますが、打ち出した時は意外とおふざけ半分の感じでGNHがつくられたそうです。GNHが分かりやすく説明されているビデオを発見したので英語ですが簡単なので見てみてください↓↓

Anyway, there is 4 pillars in GNH Policy

1.持続可能な社会経済開発 -Promotion of sustainable development-
2.環境保護 -Conservation of the natural environment-
3.伝統文化の振興 -Preservation and promotion of culturalvalues
4.優れた統治力 -Establishment of good governance-

2.環境保護 -Conservation of the natural environment
One of them says Nature is very inevitable for GNH. Bhutan is occupied 75% by Natural forest and 52% of Bhutan is protected area where even people are living. depending on the hight of mountain, life style is different and there are many minorities along with Nature. Also Bhutan's constitution have article 5 that is most about Nature.

GNHには4つの柱があり、その中の一つに環境保護が含まれています。ブータンは75％原生林に囲まれており、52％は国の保護地区になっています。その保護地区の中でも人々は暮らしています。ブータンにはその土地、標高により様々な少数民族、部族が住んでいて生活も衣装も様々です。そして、ブータン憲章第５章の全てが環境・自然に関することになっています。

I can say this nature constitution is the one of the factors that causes happiness in mind and spirit in Bhutan. I still don't know why exactly.. Look at my country, Japan. Even we have beautiful nature, most people are not interested in nature. I think they prefer money even they are living enough. living with nature might be limited our life, though if it is over the limit, much more worse incident happens. like the day of 3.11. it showed us that nobody wins nature and nobody can live without nature. Their lives are limited comparing with our modern life but I can feel comfortable somehow. We are given a life by nature and we have to respect them. without nature we never feel happiness. In Bhutan it is developing city and economy. As I mention first, this country has article 5 that is about nature and I concur with this point. I wish they'd learn from it and create new types of development.

私は環境を大切にすることは幸せの国の一部であると考えます。私たちの体は、太陽、土、水、空気・・・・など自然のものからできていてそれなしには生きていけません。それが当たり前のことすぎて気付かなくなっているけれど本当はもっと尊敬するべきものではないのでしょうか。自然は何も言葉を発さないのに私たちを活かしてくれています。そんな尊いものを私たちの経済発展のために壊し続けて、私たちに幸せがもたらされると思いますか？

ブータンでも都市化が進んでいますが、環境についての憲章があるということに関してはとても素晴らしいと感じました。なのでちょっと所得が高い人は自然保護に関してとても意識が高のです。

政府もその考えに基づいているので、どうにかほかの経済発展をしていった国の二の舞にならないでほしいですね。。

There is over 50% of national protected area and I found this board at the entrance of national park. there I took pictures above and even I didn't see at that time, different animals are living in that park.. I don't know who see tigers nor bares though..haha

50%以上保護地区があるといったように、私はこの旅の途中幾度となく国立公園を通りました。その中の一つロイヤルボタニカルパーク。ここに何がいるって書いてあるけど、トラなんかいなかったし。笑

ブータンの土地のほとんどが山なので盆地がめったにありません。なので人々はこのように段々畑をつくり農作業をします。段々畑の１つの面積がとても小さいため、機械を導入することはとても難しく今でもほとんど手作業で行われています。昔の人はこんなきれいな段々畑を人の力だけでやったんですね・・・すごい。
しかし、今農業は重労働で収入が少ないし、教育の水準も上がってきているので若い人たちは農業を離れて後継者が減っているのが現状です。日本と同じ道をたどらないように、田舎にも学校をつくったりして、特に教育分野に力を入れて過疎化をさけようと試みているのだそう。

Bhutan has few basin and they make this type of field called "terraced field". Most people are still farming by their hands because terraces are too small to introduce machines into there. That is surely hard working. As education is developing, younger people tend to leave their towns and they think farming is not their appropriate job anymore. Same as many countries, depopulation is going to be a serious problem. Government tries to build schools in rural areas and focus on education program not to cause depopulation.

隣の県へ行くときには、車道を通るのですが、山道しかないので先が見えませんでした。写真には収められなかったけれど、工事をするトラックであふれていました。そしてなぜかやたらと派手。白いトラックには必ず目がついていて、ピンクやグリーンのド派手な装飾、さらにパラリラパラリラ～っていうクランクションまで・・・。笑　たぶん建築関係の車なのでしょうが、ブータン人ではなかったです。

まとめ

国の方針にもあるように、ブータンの人は自然を大切にする意識が高いです。その原因の一つが仏教国であるからとも言えるでしょう。そして信仰心が強いです。（いい意味で）

しかし、まだまだなのが現状。というのもゴミがそこらじゅうに散らばっており、プラスチックのごみはくるみの殻やミカンの皮と同等のゴミだという認識があります。ブータンにはごみ処理場がないので、そういったゴミはインドまで運び処理をしなければなりません。ブータンの環境に対する大きな課題の一つがごみ問題になりそうです。

Conclusion

Bhutanese have known the importance of Nature as GNH says. One of the factors is religion, Buddhism. They have a lot of Temples in any regions and everybody believes Buddha. That is very good point.However, there are many problems on environment and one of them is about rubbish. Throughout Bhutan, there are many rubbish unfortunately. People don't know whether it's good or not because they through out plastics like as orange peers and nutshells. There are no incineration plants in Bhutan and they bother to carry them to India... This would be one of the serious problems in environment.

It has been long time since I posted blog last time. I've learned how I live and tried to refind myself. Actually you know, I've been to an amazing country Bhutan and I'm going to write about this journey. But, Before that, I wanna remain these words that I've kept in mind.

to be fullfiled provids hapiness

I sometimes feel I really hate myself because I always think about myslf but not others. And that makes me more fool and selfish I think... I used to be like that always but now seince I've learned about philosophy things, that is getting change I hope.
I've thought about how terrible society is and I'm harted many people are sufferd from porverty, war and human rights. I want to change the situation but I can't. though, through my recent study, every active person who I met says "be the Change". So first, I want to practice something before I insist my opinions. I think that is the first step.
And I think I really need to brush up English...... that goes aweful

I've been busy with study and work. Today It's Saturday and rainy day ;) so Im going to show you the photos I took these days.
First, i wanna let you show the things people made. these are my favorite

this picture made by classical japanese paper called Washi. my grandma made it. she've doing this over 6 years.. She's always make flower or the view somewhere in japan, though this time somehow It was like Weston picture.

Of course in japan there are still a danger of radiation you know.. though even in Fukushima they have place that is dangerous but some are not. indeed there's a risk that children eat food from Fukushima. but all of them are not dangerous. please don't have bias. all what we eat is safe. and Im going to support farmers in japan. Love japanese food :-*

Another day of Yoga

Last time I went to yoga on the beach. and I pretty liked it..
I came there again and got water in :) Even in the end of Sep, that was sooooo nice and warm. I didn't yoga physically but do mentally. Just concentrate where I am and what I hear and feel. windy, wave and birds and small people chatting. I could feel I was living.

こんにちは。
この日はとても晴れていて、暑い1日でした。
あさから、私の学校のヨガサークルで一色海岸へヨガをしに行きました。
いつも室内でやるときは、自分の内に集中していくのですが今日は素晴らしい自然に囲まれているのでとても解放的でした。
that day, as you can see from photos, was really shiny day. we were going to Yoga at beach out of Tokyo! usually we concentrate with own inside, tough today we were surrounded such a beautiful nature so that our consciousness were going to be outside.

先生は、おなじみの素敵なともさん。とても親しみやすく目黒のsan&moonでも教えています。
Our yoga teacher Tomo! She's filled with kindness. we do like her! kawaii :)

つい気持ちがよくて、かなりスローなスタート。
そして、90分くらいヨガをやり、ヨガの後とてもよい景色なので撮影会が始まりました。笑
お気に入りのショット。ともさんからポーズのお直ししてもらってビジュアル的には良い出来栄え。

ヨガには不思議な力があります。
不思議というより、私たちが失いかけている当り前なものかもしれない。
ヨガをして自然と調和して、大地からパワーをもらってとても気持ちが晴れやかになる。
時には過ちを犯すけれど、それも人間。
本当の自分を見つめていき、それを受け止めながら生きていく。
そしたら本当に幸せなものが見つかるんじゃないかと信じてる。
yoga has power. its not strange anything. this may be just we've forgot
through Yoga, we feel we're living with nature and get power from ground. that makes us clean.
we make a mistake because we are just human
we make sure who and what we are and we understand them
I believe we can find true happiness after we do

自分と向き合うと嫌なことも良いこともでてくる、それを受け止めて浄化していくことで自分が悩んでいること苦しんでいること、前世から受け継いだ性格なんかもかえられることができるんだって。
ヨガは体を動かすだけじゃなく、心も動かしてくれる。瞑想もその一種。
私はいつも同じ過ちを犯し、変わりたい変わりたいと思っている自分にいら立っていました。
でも自分を根本から変えたいと思ったらまず自分自身と向き合うことそしてかえられる可能性だってあることを知りました。
ヴィパッサナー
ヨガの先輩が今10日間の修行に出ていますが、どのような体験をしてくるのか楽しみです。
10日間瞑想して自分自身と向き合う。しゃべらず、目を合わせず、人とかかわらない。
私も次の休みにやろうと思います。
絶対つらいだろうな・・・・・
I look at myself and find good and bad. receive it and be circulated it. that could be changed us.
yoga can not only change our body but our heart. Meditation is one of the Yoga.
I always I want to change my mind because I shame and suffer from things that's same every time. thats really stupid to do same shame again and again...
Though knew I could change when I looked at myself.
"Vipassana" thats one of yoga and looking at myself not to seeing people, getting eye contact and not to relating with people for 10 days. just relate to myself.
my yoga friend went to experience it. I will do it next vacation
must be hard i know....
