Its Time

2011-10-18T02:26:00.000-06:00

So i have 5 more days in St. George. Which means it's time for packing, cleaning and those dreaded goodbyes. I have never been in a show where it will never happen again. For example, Im used to Thriller which comes around every october. but I will never do The Little Mermaid, or (more sadly) Grease with the same people, the same choreo, costumes, sets, amazing audiences, and unexpected weather etc,. It's weird to think about! As I did my second to last Grease show on saturday I couldn't help but be a little sad about it.

It's all bitter sweet of course. I get to go home, and see my friends, family, go to school and dance EVERY day!!! Gosh I really cant wait:)

As I rave about how excited I am to come home. I have made some good friends along the way. and I truly wouldn't have been able to get through this journey with out them. I want to thank them for making these 6 months possible!

Alexis Smithersss (house of Ravenclaw) and Mitchell Glass (house of Hufflepuff.... haaa):
Together we made the three musketeers. I appreciate you guys accepting me for who I am and for not staring at me like I was a complete loser. We shared SO many laughs together. You "adults" were so nice to befriend me. Thank you.

Molls bolls and Erica:

Thanks for teaching me so many things throughout this experience. I learned much more than I thought possible. You are wonderful examples to me, and I look up to you more than you may know. I know for a fact I wouldn't have gotten through this without you guys sitting next to me the whole way through. I will never forget being a Varsity Cheerleader with you two:) Muff, Buff, and Char Char!!! HootyHooo!! p.s. Molly- thank you again for freaking braiding my hair every Mermaid night. and Erica- remember that time you slobbered on stage?? hahahaha ya, i just thought of that and laughed SOOO hard!

Through all the ups and downs of my first "Tuacahn" experience, I wouldn't change it for the world. I never thought I could learn so much about myself in these six months as I did. Im so grateful for the many experiences i've gone through..... but im so excited to come back home:)

Forever

2011-10-03T18:07:00.000-06:00

It's literally been forever since i've blogged! I have found now with school, i'd rather spend my time sleeping, doing homework, sleeping and working out. so yeah, blogging isn't at the top of my list. but i have surely missed it a lot! it is a good way for me to write out how i feel about things, especially since i haven't had dance on my side this summer, for emotional expression. My blog has definitely done what i wanted it to do:)

I can't believe its Thriller time already! It's weird cuz im not in my house with all the zombie make up, frankenstein heads, and vampire blood. but thats exactly what my house is filled with at the moment, i just know it:)

If you don't know what thriller is, GO SEE IT! get your tickets on Odyssey Dance Theaters website. It is an incredible show! and im not being biased! i swear!

Here is a sneak peak of thiller and its amazingness!

This would be the SICK zombie make up i did on janae:)

And heres a video to see the sweetness!

well thats all folks!

2 more weeks and 5 days before i can go home sweet home:)

Nephews!

2011-09-10T11:37:00.002-06:00

My trip home was so fun! although, I spent practically all of it with my nieces and nephews. particularly Tyler and Derek. I found this as an enormous blessing in disguise because they are moving to Texas in october!!!!! BEFORE i come back home from St. George..... I know it will be good for them, and thats what they need to do. but I'm very heart broken about it. Tyler is my best friend, and Amanda and Kevin are like my second parents. Of course I will see them every once and a while, but I'm used to seeing them 5 times a week!! not 5 times a year.

Anyways, Tyler, Derek, and I watched the original Mickey cartoons from like the 1930's. Tyler can't come to my house and not wear my gold mickey ears from disney. And so we watched these cartoons while wearing mickey and minnie ears. But then Tyler decided he wanted to be all out mickey, with only undies on just like mickey mouse! ooooh boy, so funny:)

oh, i love him!

POT BELLIE:)

I cannot figure out how to turn this video the right way! but this is Tyler saying "im mickey mouse!" In his underwear and all! hahaha he is to cool!

This one is him punching the piano just as mickey did in one of the cartoons we watched! he is just the smartest kid i know!

Apparently im to lame to get pictures of Derek, or my 3 other nieces and nephews who were at the family BBQ. but what ever. Here are some pictures of Derek so you can see just how adorable he is!!

Goodness gracious!! I can't take it! he is a stud muffin! to the max!!

welp, thats all for today:)

P.S. I wish we all talked with proper grammar like they used to in the Jane Austen era. I've been watching Pride & Prejudice and Becoming Jane, and I just love how they speak!

2011-09-07T18:14:00.000-06:00

So Brittany freaking Bascom came to St. George over Labor day weekend! We had lots and lots of fun! Plus we got some major talking in, which was exactly what i needed! Her parents invited me to VEGAS with them..... lets be honest who would reject that offer? Britt needed a Homecoming dress, and I got some sweet pants too:) over all it was just a fun weekend! Here's some picturas!

After the show:)

Love H&M! this is where i got my miracle pants.... they're mustard yellow slacks!

My favorite place in the world! I definitely miss this! and for the record, it's way better than menchis!

Car Bordem!

Thank you Thank you Brittany! It means so much that you came to see me:)

Now, here's the down low... Im driving home tonight! wait, let me rephrase that, im sitting in a car for four hours tonight while others drive!!!! I can't wait to see my family! we're having a BBQ and all that. Im in charge of the salad, and healthy (raw) dip!! most likely they will be the main thing I eat. Best of all Veronica will be there!!! Gaaaah I can't wait to see her!
I'll keep ya'll posted;)

Gnats

2011-09-03T12:54:00.000-06:00

So this happened like, a month ago... but I still haven't posted it!! so here it is:)

Our mermaid show was plagued last night. We were in the middle of Under The Sea -- the one number where pretty much everyone is on stage-- and we were posing for the first section of the song going into the reprise. This swarm of Gnats came upon tuacahn and were ready to attack. They were every where, in a cloudy fog of bugs. Trying to sing the reprise was impossible without getting some extra protein in our systems, they were crawling all over us and flying everywhere.
They got in the wigs, dressing rooms and our bras!! It was absolutely terrible and Miserable. Usually little swarms of gnats come and go. they move around in fast little clusters. I had hoped the same thing would happen with this ginormous cluster... but no. it stayed the entire show. the poor costumers were at tuacahn till 5 am cleaning.

This picture dose no justice to how terrible it was... but it's a small preview! haha

Note to self... don't do the shows at tuacahn in exactly 7 years.

Music.

2011-09-01T23:45:00.001-06:00

I love listening to Music. It calms my soul and makes me happy. Unfortunately for me (only when i go to dances and stuff) I don't like any current or popular music. It has no heart in it. no one cares that you got drunk in the club... again. I mean really. it's terrible. who cares for it? not me!
Oldies have a special place in my heart:) but I have discovered some Indies rock bands that I absolutely love! and I want to tell you all about them!

The Boxer Rebellion. Oh how I love them

I love their style!! so hot:)

Leftover Cuties. They have such a modern vintage vibe to them! love em

How cute is she???

The Jane Carrey Band. yes, Jim's daughter. Her music is very raw and real. love.

Mumford & Sons. oh boy.... It amazes me how cool they make the banjo sound in their music! A wonderful twist to the music now-a-days.

love their style.

If you didn't notice.... Indies Rock Bands have the best style in the world. They are the definition of modern vintage WONDERFULNESS. Check all these guys out, you wont regret it:)

Sunday Inspirations

2011-08-30T00:42:00.000-06:00

I know Sunday has passed, but I really want to create a Sunday Inspiration post.... on sundays. Mainly to help myself really learn and apply the principles learned in church, and in sabbath readings. I think this will help me more fully understand how to take a teaching and apply it to make myself better. And if it helps some other friends... all the better:)

This Sunday at church there was an awesome speaker. He had a way with his voice that really drew me in and made me listen. (i wish i had that quality) The lesson I received from his talk was this:

God asks us to keep his commandments and in return he promises us Everything. Eternal life, Knowledge, happiness, etc., and yet we still have trouble in doing the things he asks of us. But imagine if we were promised 1 mill for praying every morning and night for a month. . . Would you? Would you feel more enticed to do so?

Its an interesting concept. it made me think. Keeping the larger perspective could have a huge effect on your life. Heres one of my personal examples:: You know when your ready for bed and just want to sleep, and then right when your all comfortable and cozy and just dazing off, you remember! I forgot to pray! I honestly have the hardest time getting out of bed and kneeling to pray! At the moment I think im tired! but in the larger perspective, your promised... well, everything!

We get so easily distracted with worldly ideas that we often forget the larger perspective. We have a hard time remembering that it's not all about that moment.... its about so much more! It's about returning to our Heavenly Father and our beloved brother!

This picture seemed appropriate to use. For this week I want to keep it in mind. When the world distracts me, I can think of returning to Jesus, and see the larger perspective. I challenge you to do the same.

Going back home for two day's was better than anything I could have asked for. Going back to Orem High brought to my attention just how many good friends I have. Going back to Tree House for Expansion auditions made me so exited for this coming year for dance. Going to ODC made me excited for this coming year as well. (so many good girls this year) And yet im back in St. George, with an amazing opportunity and I feel more alone than ever.

I get frustrated with myself because I want to enjoy the next 8 weeks. They will be over before I know it, and I will soon be working my butt off 24/7 and barely finishing my homework. But for some reason my mind won't have it. No matter how many times I tell myself, It's your choice to be happy, and God will help you through it, I still feel helpless, alone, and wishful.

Im a 16 year old living a 24 year old life, and quite frankly... im sick of it.

I want to be better and feel better and be happy.

All I can do is try.

Room:)

2011-08-22T23:15:00.000-06:00

As you may know... Pinterest has been my life for the past couple weeks. It has also made me realize that... maybe my disney inspired room is a tad bit childish. So, I talked to my mom, and with many DIY's at hand, we will be re-doing my room! Here are some pictures of what I will be doing to it:)

So there's the colors im thinking of:)

I would love to do this to the horrid brick in my house... give it some character... shabby chic

Love this new take on a white board

Soooome type of quote thing, Maybe in my light box windows?

I have two suitcases and an antique tray for this so far... one more suitcase to go!

Im thinkin this idea but in my closet... and more subtle, like a pastel chevron, or trellis print.

Have this!! love this:)

I want to do something like this for my desk... nice antique-ified chair.

Fix up my nast blinds, in a different color, obvi.

Im thinkin this above the new curtain/blinds...

I want to do the whole book shelf thing in above my bed in the little light box windows!

I like this idea for a lamp by my desk... like 3 all, different sizes.?

So ya thats it so far:) Ill keep you updated on the versions i make! Should be fun!
Any suggestions?? I'd love to hear em!

So here is just some things that have happened lately that I haven't had the chance to blog about!! I'll start with my best friend, Rachel, coming down to see me:)

Plankin:)

only dancer's are this cheezerz

of course we went on the carrousel

I was so happy to see her!! It meant so much to me that she came down! I love you Rach:)

Whats next..... oh! I got through my first week of school!! I miss orem high though:( No matter what school I am in though, I truly love learning. Something I have missed. I have been doing school online, but it's just not the same. Theres something about going to school that I, for some weird reason, love. Plus I was so bored during the day, now I have somewhere to be, that gets me up in the morning. I get ready, drink a Green smoothie, and feel good about myself. . . what a concept!! My goal is to go to school every day, duh, and on Mermaid days go to Yoga, and on Grease day's go to dance class:) It's perfect!

K, this literally happened forever ago, but that's the point of this post! So Daysha, Kami, Kyla(Kami's sister) and I went to Red cliffs. It's just a small river thing that goes down a canyon... absolutely stunning. It was so fun! We went to the Painted Pony after to eat.... wholey moley this place is delicious.

Beautiful!

this picture cracks me up!! an old lady was taking the picture, and we weren't so sure when she actually took the picture... haha

This was at the Painted Pony... Goblets for your freaking drink. this is so happening in my home one day.

I now have a new nephew!! Austin Dash Yeager!

He was born August 13th at 7.7 lbs.

Isn't he so cute!! I cannot wait to meet him this week! I love him so much already! Nephew's are my favorite!
I get to go home on wednesday for Expansion auditions!! Yay, wish me luck!

Socca!!

2011-08-20T17:27:00.001-06:00

Today I tried making Socca! I say tried, because most likely next time I make it, it will be more successful. let me tell you... this stuff is amazing!! Completely gluten free!! it's crispy, gewy, sweet and salty all in one! yum:)

so as you can see I ended up with more of a cluster of socca, than pizza like bread. It came out as a perfect finger food, with tomatoes, spinach and avocado. I am a believer in socca.

Here's the Recipe: (for the best description, and other socca recipe's go to pure2raw)

1/2 C garbanzo flour

1C water

Pinch of sea salt

2 Tb Coconut oil (or olive oil)

Whisk together the the ingredients and put on a 12in pizza pan. bake at 400 degrees for about 45 min. And i think you flip it. I say think because I just made it in a skillet. I put the oil in the pan then poured the other three ingredients in the skillet. I think I messed up when I flipped it to early. If I was more patient It probably would have ended up more... normal.

This stuff is amazing!! I HIGHLY recommend it:)

School.

2011-08-10T21:33:00.001-06:00

First off, I cant believe I decided to go to school down here in St. George. This decision happened in about 5 seconds, and bam it was coming true! I start on MONDAY!! crazy crazy.

One of my besties who just moved to stupid arizona got skype!! which means we basically talk non stop! and it's so fun. She is such a good friend and I love that I still get to see her face all the time:)

This was a picture she took of us.... she is a tiny ant underneath my chin!!

aaand this is the picture i took:)... she stole my pose btdubbs.

I am driving home tonight, which just happened to come at a perfect time. Some times I just need to see familiar faces. People who I can talk to about anything and know that they actually care. I just really need some help.....

HELP! oh my gosh I just saw the movie The Help, so good. I cried.... I don't even know how many times. basically I cried the whole movie. It was an amazing story. Amazing acting. The amazing Emma Stone. Just, amazing.

I have been eating completely Gluten free so far this week. It was easy at first. Then I started craving a sandwhich. I didn't eat one, but oh boy did I want to. I really want to become a healthier eater. My only problem is that it's much more expensive. Not to mention that you can only find better options in health food stores. It takes a lot of maintenance, work, and devotion. but I am trying!!

Well im done with the rambling!! plus I have to get ready to be on stage for Under The Sea!! :)

Too many people...

2011-08-08T01:33:00.000-06:00

I have found that I enjoy to spend money. but doesn't everybody? you get somewhat of a high from buying something new. soon realizing that it will never make you happy, you have to buy more for that same high. As this is a somewhat embarrassing topic, I feel impressed to write about it.

The pressure to be a certain way can get ahold of me and command my thoughts and actions. The idea of having a pretty smile, long eye lashes, skinny waist, and nice clothes seem to posses me. At times I get myself to think that if I have these things I will be happier. That I will be accepted. Even that people will like me more.

What kind of a society do we live in that has hypnotized us to believe such rubbish.

I was on Pintrest.com looking at fun things like organizers, room styles and clothing and things that I thought would make me happier, and feel more accepted. Then I came upon this Quote:

It really hit me. Here I was planning my next shopping trips for things I didn't need. I have a room, that fits me fine, and I don't need it to look any special way for friends. It's my room, not theirs. I have plenty of clothes, although I love the idea of back to school shopping, it really isn't necessary. Those red jeans wont make me any happier. and surely won't make me more accepted by my peers.

I have so much to be grateful for, so why try to impress people I don't like. That quote really says it all.

So there's the story of my "aha" moment of the week:)

Im honestly blown away by the fluidity of the movement combined with the dynamic musicality. I feel like you rarely see these two things mixed together so well. Bravo Ian Eastwood, so hot right now.

I was lookin at dance video's and discovered this series of performances choreographed by some of my favorites! so here's the first video of The Movement! Justin Giles' choreo is amazing, i live for the musicality he uses! and Mathew Peacock is probably one of my favorite dancers. This is an awesome piece!!

2011-07-31T19:25:00.000-06:00

My day off was so fun! it was, as always, so nice to be home, and see my friends and family!

I drove down Thursday night after the show, and got to my sister, Amanda's house around 3:30. She had a headache and Derek was wide awake though so i stayed up until 5 ish. then friday came around and i just played with the boys:) nothin more i need in life then these little guys:

Oh I love them.

Then on Saturday it was the second annual Coopers Run!

It was so fun! and I actually ran! hahaha I am pretty proud of myself, running is not my forte but I actually ran a 5k and in 34 minutes! not..... to bad:)

But I got to see so many friends and people that i miss and love deeply!!

And beware if you are in a dunk tank, Brittany and I WILL take you out in one shot.

There are more post worthy pictures that I did not take myself, but have yet to be posted on Facebook!! so i cant post them here! haha

Coopers Run was a total success, it is such an amazing way to remember that little boy:)

My drive back afterward was rough. I almost fell asleep several times. eeeeeeek. and then i got pulled over for the first time. (bigger eeeeeeek.) can't wait to tell my parents about that one:) I got away with a warning and no ticket though so... i guess thats ok!

if you want to hear the whole story, im gonna have to not type it to you so.. ya.

But over all it was a wonderful trip!

did i mention my parents have been on a Disney cruise in Alaska with my long lost sister Veronica? boo. im real jealous.

Lets just talk about this real quick. Hunger Games = my life complete!

I really don't want the whole "twilight" thing to happen to the Hunger Games books!! I am really hoping it will be more of the..... "Harry Potter" type. One thing is for sure, they sure made Gale and Peeta beautiful. Im crossing my fingers that these movies will turn out well!

Anywhays, I was looking on -- actually I cant remember where it was -- the internet, and found this clothing website: risingtaste.com Its wholesale clothing from china, which means... super cheep!!! I haven't purchased anything yet... cuz I have a budget to rely on. here, take a look at this

this dress is $8.62

These Heels are $15.61

These Retro Earrings are $2.20

If that isn't Wholesale, I don't know what is!!

Anywho, pray for me tonight on my four hour drive at 11:30pm!!

2011-07-27T12:16:00.000-06:00

It seems that this week is one of those weeks where no matter how much i have to do, I only get the things that don't need to be done, done. Its mainly because I have Friday off and I get to go HOME! and lets be honest, that is all I want right now. my mind is just so focused on the future, instead of present time. but because of this, barely any school gets done, good workouts are rare, and I find myself trying to find something to do.

Even though I already have.... stuff to do, school.

bleh.

2 more shows before I get to go home!!! I can do it.

I went thrifting!! (one of the many unnecessary things achieved this week) I think I for sure found some Fabulous Finds:) Of course I went to Urban Renewal, and this super cute/creepy antiques store! heres what I got!!!

3 wonderful scarf/head wraps!

Thats all for now Folks!

Zucchini Cupcakes

2011-07-26T14:43:00.001-06:00

These really are more like muffins with a caramelized frosting. They have a spiced bread feel. So yummy, and much more guilt free than your average cupcake!

Ingredients ::
3 eggs
1-1/3 cups sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup orange juice
1tsp almond extract
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2tsp ground cinnamon
2tsp baking powder
1tsp baking soda
1tsp ground cloves
1-1/2 cups shredded zucchini

Caramel Frosting ::
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1tsp vanilla extract
1-1/2 to 2 cups powdered sugar

Directions ::
In a mixing bowl, beat eggs, sugar, oil, orange juice, and extract. Combine dry ingredients; add to the egg mixture and mix well. Add zucchini and mix well.

Fill paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. cool for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack.

For frosting, combine brown sugar, butter and milk in a saucepan; bring to a boil over medium heat. cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; sir in vanilla. Cool to lukewarm. Gradually beat in powdered sugar with whisk until frosting reaches spreading consitency.

Frost the cupcakes!
makes about 1-1/2 to 2 dozen.

The Perfect Salad.

2011-07-25T16:26:00.000-06:00

To me this is the most amazing spinach salad. A personal Favorite. Plus it's so simple!

Ingredients ::
Two large handful's of spinach
4-5 Strawberries
Lemon Poppy seed vinaigrette

It's pretty self explanatory, put the spinach in a bowl, pour dressing on top lightly--you really don't need that much, so much flavor comes from the strawberries--and add sliced strawberries on top! And there you have it, a completely refreshing delicious salad! yummm!
