Raja Petra Is Almost Homeless In London

This news was received from a friend who I can say is quite influential via a phone call…

According to this friend, Raja Petra Kamarudin or RPK is now said to have almost reached the status of being ‘homeless’ in London.

He has yet to be evacuated or such, but talks are that his unpaid rent has mounted although for how long I’m not sure…

This stemmed from the declining sponsorship of two parties, namely Kalimullah Hassan and Datuk Soh Chee Wen (one of Anwar Ibrahim’s financial backers).

The dough from Kalimullah is still on the roll…but the money coming from Anwar has been halted since RPK has openly showed his tendency to criticize Anwar recently…especially following the onslaught of internal turmoil in Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s election…Also, RPK’s writings have ceased having an impact on society.

“Anwar wants to tame RPK again,” according to this friend.

What is troubling now is that money from one side is not enough. London ain’t cheap. There’re no street stalls like KL, so of course the expenses are high.

Obviously RPK is not the type to cook at home…he only dines at places where meals are infused with wine, and this is not counting in the price of a bottle of wine or alcohol to wash down his food. Also not forgetting the tabs on his drinks during his free time…so by now there should be a good understanding of what state he is in.

It is said that RPK now badly wants to go home…but he is also afraid of any action that would be taken against him…although that could only be his assumption…it is unlikely that any action would be taken against him…

But what is certain, if Anwar continues to deny him the financial aid and RPK himself doesn’t want to go home…he has a choice of either being a waiter in London or be a homeless bum on the streets there like a stray dog. Maybe that is the best punishment for someone who has sinned a lot towards others.

And maybe this writer’s article previously was accurate…it is wise for RPK to return to Malaysia and kneel and seek forgiveness from Najib and his family for all the slandering before this.

Come home RPK…or be prepared to be a wandering stray dog over there.

RPK free but likely to remain in exile

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's top blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin (RPK), who fled the country after being held under security laws in 2008, is free to return after a detention order lapsed, his lawyer said today.

However, the founder of the popular Malaysia Today website, which has outraged top leaders with its stream of critical stories, is unlikely to leave his self-imposed exile in Britain for fear of fresh charges, he said.

"This order has lapsed but it does not stop the authorities from seeking my client's detention on other grounds should he return," said lawyer Jadadish Chandra.

The mystery of the missing initial report.

In 2008, the police raided my house to look for the PUSRAWI medical report, which Malaysia Today published and which debunks Saiful Bukhari Azlan’s allegation that Anwar Ibrahim sodomised him. I was also brought in for interrogation with regards to that report. Two years on and that medical report is now said to be missing and the Prosecution declares it is not aware of such a report. Well, maybe we can republish it for the sake of the Prosecution.

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has charged that the prosecution into his sodomy case had lied over the existence of an initial preliminary report after the three doctors had examined Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

Solicitor-general II Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden had admitted in court he did not know of the initial report.

However, the testimony of Dr Mohd Razali Ibrahim today showed there is an initial report, which was made before the July 13 full report which was tendered as evidence.

“This showed the prosecution had lied and supports our arguments that it should have been supplied to us before the trial. We do not want to hold up the trial but it seems they (the prosecution) are,” he said. -- Malaysiakini

Bridget Osborne from the BBC just called to inform Raja Petra Kamarudin that the program scheduled for 3.00pm, Wednesday, 1st September 2010, has been cancelled.

Bridget said that BBC’s lawyers advised them not to proceed with the program as this would upset the Malaysian government and may even expose the BBC to legal action.

Bridget added that the questions they would delve into, which would be very sensitive in nature and critical of the government, would run foul of the Malaysian government.

The fact that the program would be accessible in Malaysia, said Bridget, makes this a problem for the BBC.

It looks like RPK is too hot even for HARDtalk and BBC said it is a rare occasion that they have had to drop a program.

Then and now: the Ezam story

Ezam said they went to great lengths to persuade him to change sides. When they failed, they compromised by agreeing that he remains in the opposition as long as he agreed to abandon Anwar. When they failed to also do this, he was packed off to Kamunting to start serving his two-year detention.

NO HOLDS BARRED | Raja Petra Kamarudin -

The ex-PKR Youth Leader, Ezam Mohd Nor, has been going round the country giving ceramahs during the many by-elections. At these ceramahs, he whacked Anwar Ibrahim and claimed that he knows all sorts of secrets about Anwar.

Ezam used to say he had six boxes of secrets about Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamd in his safekeeping and that one day he would reveal all these secrets.

That was more than ten years ago and until today we have not seen a single piece of paper from those six boxes.

Yesterday, it was announced that Ezam is now a Senator. This is probably his reward for all the Anwar-bashing that he had done.

Of late, what Ezam has been saying contradicts what he said back in the days before he left PKR to join Umno. Maybe you can read what he said on 27 June 2003 (below) and compare what he said then to what he is saying today.

Maybe Ezam thought Malaysians have short memories.

Umno tried to buy Ezam over - – Free Anwar Campaign, 27 June 2003

The National Justice Party Youth Leader, Ezam Mohd Nor, has admitted that Umno sent him feelers while he was in prison.

Speaking to a crowd of about 500 supporters at the home of party President, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Ezam said, first they separated him from the rest of the Reformasi Six so that they could get him alone. Once he was isolated from the rest, they worked on him to try to woo him over.

Ezam said he was quite surprised at the speed his Official Secrets Act (OSA) trial developed. Ezam was then already under Internal Security Act (ISA) detention in the Kamunting Detention Camp together with Saari Sungib, Tian Chua, Dr Badrulamin Bahron, Lokman Noor Adam and Hishamuddin Rais.

Once the conviction was secured, Ezam was immediately transferred to the Kajang Prison to start serving his two-year jail sentence, the first time in the 43-year history of the ISA that a detainee had to simultaneously serve both an ISA detention and a jail term.

Then Ezam realised why they had hurriedly separated him from the rest for, once he was isolated, Umno made its move to try to woo him over.

Ezam said he received all sorts of approaches from Umno asking him to switch camps and abandon his “struggle to free Anwar Ibrahim from jail”.

In fact, said Ezam, his entire initial 60-day detention under the ISA, before he was sent to Kamunting, was centred on Anwar Ibrahim and not once was he interrogated about his alleged “crimes”.

Ezam and nine other party leaders and Reformasi activists were detained in April 2001 for allegedly being a threat to national security. According to the official statement released by the government, they had conspired to topple the government through violent and militant means and were involved in a plot to bring in bombs, guns, grenade launchers and Molotov Cocktails.

However, the entire 60 days interrogation was on party matters and the police tried to convince Ezam to abandon his struggle and rejoin Umno. After failing to woo him over, the police finally tried to persuade Ezam to just abandon Anwar Ibrahim.

Ezam said, the police told him he could remain in the National Justice Party and continue to oppose the government. However, he must not mention Anwar’s name in any of his speeches. In short, Ezam may continue his opposition party activities but these should not include the struggle to free Anwar.

Ezam also said they tried to convince him that Anwar was in fact guilty of all the sexual crimes he was alleged to have committed and that the police had all the evidence to support these charges.

“Until the last day of my 60-day detention the police never once produced this evidence,” said Ezam.

“When I asked them on the last day of my detention, the day before I was transferred to Kamunting, where this so-called evidence was, they replied that it was of no use showing me this evidence as I would not believe it anyway.”

Ezam said rumours are rife that he is in the midst of making a deal with Umno. “Why should I do this now?” asked Ezam.

“If I want to this, why do this now? I should have done it at the early stages of my detention. Why should I suffer the two year detention and the OSA conviction where I have already served 10 months of my 16-month jail term?”

Ezam said he took a great risk by applying for bail.

“I have already served 10 months of my conviction,” explained Ezam.

“No doubt I was sentenced to two years jail. However, after a one-third remission, I only need to serve 16 months of this sentence.”

“My lawyers were surprised when I told them I would like to apply for bail. They cautioned me that if I fail in my appeal, the ten months I have already served would not be taken into consideration and I would have to start serving the 16 months jail sentence all over again.”

“I would therefore lose these 10 months. But, as a politician, this is the risk I have to take,” Ezam said to the crowd that broke out into thunderous applause.

Ezam then revealed that his release and that of the other five was due to a power struggle within Umno.

“It is because of the serious power struggle within Umno that I and my five comrades were released.”

“One group in Umno was opposed to our release. However, there was another group that wanted us released.”

It is said that Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the one behind their release while the Abdullah Ahmad Badawi camp tried to block their release.

These next four months are very critical to Umno as Dr Mahathir would be leaving office in October with Abdullah supposed to take over. The last thing Abdullah wants is the Reformasi Six back in circulation where they could do much damage to Umno that is yet to settle the succession issue.

Talk amongst the Umno circles is that Dr Mahathir wants the Reformasi Six to “stir the pot” to put pressure on the party. It is hoped that this may then be too much for Abdullah to handle and there would be serious doubts raised as to whether he would be able to take over from Dr Mahathir.

For all intents and purposes, say the sources within Umno, the Reformasi Six were released so that they could become the bogeymen. Umno would then question whether Abdullah is strong enough to fend off the opposition onslaught or should Dr Mahathir stay on to save Umno.

Whatever theories one may subscribe to, the immediate and unconditional release of the Reformasi Six took everyone by surprise, the Reformasi Six included. No doubt, there was much pressure from the International community, foreign governments and Malaysia’s Human Rights Commission to release them. In fact, even the Kamunting Review Board and the Federal Court ruled that their detentions are illegal, mala fide and violated the constitution. However, it cannot be discounted that Umno’s internal affairs also had a bearing on their release.

Zahrain, let’s talk about this instead

Next, Zahrain fired away at news portal Malaysiakini and controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin for working "hand in glove" with PR to perform character assassination against "anyone that is a stumbling block to their dream of snatching Putrajaya at all costs".

Zahrain claimed that Raja Petra was now in London, being "protected" in luxury dwellings belonging to a senior leader of PKR, prompting N Gobalakrishnan (Padang Serai - PKR) to dare Zahrain to name the person. (Read the full report by The Edge below).

It looks like the Malaysian Parliament has been ‘hot’ the last few days. However, instead of debating issues of national importance, like how the voters hope that the Members of Parliament they voted into office would do, they discuss matters NOT of national importance -- like Malaysiakini and Malaysia Today and where RPK is currently living.

I would caution MP Zahrain of spending too much of Parliament’s time discussing me. There is a danger that some people might misinterpret this as placing me in the ranks of a ‘national treasure’, further resulting in the danger of inflating my ego. Now, we do not want that do we, surely? As it is, I am already a stubborn and incorrigible bastard. Are you trying to turn me into an egoistical, stubborn, incorrigible bastard?

What MP Zahrain and Parliament should do instead is to discuss the links, relationship or association between businessmen and those who walk in the corridors of power. Now THAT is a bad link. That link smells of corruption, abuse of power and conflict of interest.

Even if it is true that Malaysiakini and Malaysia Today work in concert (which they do not) and even if it is true that both Malaysiakini and Malaysia Today are linked to the opposition (which they are not), so what? What is wrong with that? Have any laws been broken because of this so-called link? What is illegal in that? Have you not heard of freedom of association as enshrined in the Federal Constitution of Malaysia?

Now, if the government forbids Internal Security Act detainees from performing their Friday prayers within the confines of the detention camp, like what is happening now, then that is illegal. Then we can say that laws have been broken. And the fact that the Perak Mufti scolded the ISA detainees who insisted on performing their Friday prayers does not mean that the laws have not been broken. I thought Muslims are not allowed to amend God’s laws? Or have I gone to the wrong religious class?

So, Zahrain, bring that matter up in Parliament and get the government to clarify the matter. Also ask Parliament why no action was taken about the police report I made in the Sentul Police Station against the authorities for forbidding the ISA detainees from performing their Friday prayers. They are not asking to be allowed to walk to the mosque outside the detention camp. They just want to do their prayers within the detention camp. Yet that is not allowed. Islam konon! Podah!

And speak to Ibrahim Ali. Ibrahim Ali’s PERKASA is upset about the Chinese being given all the contracts and that none are going to the Malays. I am sure you too share this ‘Umno mentality’. After all, you too were denied the golf club contract in Penang, which should have rightfully been given to you since you are Malay. But the Chinese Chief Minister of Penang refused to give the contract to your RM2 company, which was formed only a couple of months before the tender, on the lame excuse that your company is dormant and therefore has no experience in that business.

Another contract that was given to the Chinese was the RM100 million turnkey hospital project in Kuala Lipis in Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s home state of Pahang. The company that got the project is George Kent (Malaysia) Berhad (see below). George Kent is owned by Tan Sri Tan Kay Hock, Najib’s golf buddy whom Malaysia Today wrote about earlier.

Was it right for the Prime Minister to give a huge contract worth RM100 million to his golf buddy? Is it not worse when you consider that George Kent does not have any experience or track record in the hospital turnkey business (just like your RM2 dormant company in Penang)? And what will Ibrahim Ali and his PERKASA say when they find out about this? I am sure Ibrahim Ali is already planning his next protest demonstration in front of Najib’s office even as you read this. And are not demonstrations ‘not Malay culture’, as Umno says?

Yes, Zahrain, there are links and there are links. Links meant to fight evil (nahi munkar) are mulia (noble) in the eyes of Islam. Links to rip off the rakyat’s money are evil in the eyes of Islam.

Taubat, Zahrain taubat (repent). You speak like the reincarnation of satan. You uphold evil and you fight against good. That is opposite to amar maaruf, nahi munkar. That is fuel for the fire of hell. Islam konon! Podah!

Zahrain takes aim at Anwar's influence abroad

Independent Bayan Baru member of parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim on Thursday, March 18, persisted with his attacks against opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, claiming that Anwar had "monopolised" the flow of information to the international scene.

Zahrain, who today resumed his debate on the royal address, claimed that a special assistant to Anwar (Permatang Pauh - PKR) had sought the cancellation of a forum organised by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington DC.

"This is because Permatang Pauh [Anwar] has, all along, monopolised any meeting with the US and determined what type of information can be transmitted to the US administration," Zahrain told the Dewan Rakyat today.

Zahrain said he was informed of the matter by the event's organiser when the former recently went to Washington DC as part of a Malaysian parliamentarians' delegation.

The CSIS forum on Feb 24 heard speeches from Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz (Padang Rengas - BN), Attorney-General Tan Seri Abdul Gani Patail and former Chief Justicec Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamed.

Zahrain, who was formerly PKR's Penang chief, then reprimanded the Barisan Nasional (BN) government and the diplomatic corp for "failing" to effectively explain the situation in Malaysia to the international stage.

"In my view, Pakatan Rakyat [PR] leaders are able to incite other countries to hate our country due to the weaknesses and failures of the government to seriously and systematically address the problem," he said.

Zahrain added that, while some ambassadors and diplomats may be quite professional in their work, they would sometimes "overlook the political importance and impact of an issue" to the country.

The fiesty newly independent MP then proposed that experienced politicians be appointed as ambassadors to "critical countries" including the UK, Australia, Turkey and the Middle East.

Zahrain also praised Nazri and and Malaysia's ambassador to the US Datuk Jamaluddin Jarjis (Rompin - BN) for their "succesful efforts" in breaking the opposition's "political mask".

The former PKR man was resuming his tirade against PR after he raised the temperature of the House yesterday when he revealed how he had been "fooled" into believing that PR would take over the federal government from BN on Sept 16, 2008.

Anwar's ongoing sodomy trial had intensified international attention and criticisms against Malaysia, with US Senator John Kerry and some 50 Australian MPs speaking up for Anwar's legal rights in the criminal trial.

Anwar was absent from parliament today as he is currently in London for meetings and lectures.

During his speech today, Zahrain also picked on Anwar's special assistant Aasil Kazi Ahmad, whom Zahrain said was an US-born Pakistani and asked the home ministry to "take stern action to expel such a treacherous character".

Next, Zahrain fired away at news portal Malaysiakini and controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin for working "hand in glove" with PR to perform character assassination against "anyone that is a stumbling block to their dream of snatching Putrajaya at all costs".

At this juncture, Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud (Kota Raja - PAS) lashed out at Zahrain for wasting the Dewan Rakyat's time with his allegations.

"This is similar to when husband and wife divorce, but when they were married, it was all beautiful. We have many issues to raise here. Speaker, we have wasted enough time. Why is it necessary for Bayan Baru to repeat what he said?

"[He says] this side, that side has spin doctors, this side and that side has hired tentera upahan [mercenaries]. This is politics. You [Zahrain] point one finger at Permatang Pauh (Anwar), but there are three more fingers pointing back at you," Siti Mariah said in an increasingly exasperated tone.

Datuk Mohamad Aziz (Sri Gading - BN) then told Siti Mariah that she should be thankful to Zahrain for revealing the latter's story.

But they never allowed me to sign my statement. On the day I was supposed to sign my statement they sent me off to Kamunting. I am probably the only ISA detainee who was not made to sign his statement. Clearly they are afraid of allowing me to sign my statement lest the government falls one day and this statement falls into the hands of a new government.

Zahrain sparks off verbal hullabaloo

Making his debut in Parliament as an independent member, Bayan Baru parliamentarian Zahrain Hashim made a loud entrance of sorts rousing the house into a shouting match between both sides of the divide.

The episode began serenely enough when the independent parliamentarian began his maiden parliament speech. But the ruckus he kicked up as he went along in an already all too volatile parliament was anything but serene.

Zahrain's speech on the reasons why he left PKR raised the ire of Pakatan Rakyat members of Parliament when he related his version of events leading up to September 16, 2008, the date when Pakatan Rakyat de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim said the opposition would take over the federal government.

The spark that ignited the powder keg of parliamentary fireworks was his allegation that Pakatan representatives were 'told to be on stand-by in Parliament' on September 16 to take over the legislature. He claimed that the Pakatan parliamentarians were told that 'they had the support of the army and the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Zahrain's claim prompted Anwar, who is opposition parliamentary leader, to stand up and say that Zahrain was 'only after power and riches'. Anwar then walked out of the chambers.

What followed next was a barrage of hoots from BN representatives accusing Anwar of not being able to take the heat and counter-retorts by Pakatan parliamentarians deriding Zahrain for what they said were false claims.

Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee joined in the fray reminding everyone that according to the standing orders, institutions of the state, which included the Agong and judges, could not be brought into the discussion unless there was a motion on them. He was alluding to Zahrain's claims about the Agong and the military.

The verbal hullabaloo expanded with both sides making much noise and wild claims as many parliamentarians interjected - whether given way by Zahrain or not - to say their piece. Amongst the most vocal were Batu MP Tian Chua, Padang Serai MP N Gobalakrishnan and Sri Gading MP Mohamad Aziz.

However, the wet-market atmosphere ended when Kiandee adjourned the Dewan Rakyat until 10am tomorrow. -- Malaysiakini, 17 March 2010

That was what Malaysiakini reported today. Actually, there is some truth in what Zahrain Hashim said so I feel Anwar Ibrahim should not have walked out of Parliament. By doing so it would appear like Zahrain had struck a raw nerve, which actually he had I suppose. But then Anwar should not reveal this. Play poker lah, like me. Smile and wait for your time to strike back. Aiyah, Anwar, bad poker player lah.

As I said, Zahrain did not totally lie. And the fact that Zahrain raised this matter in Parliament makes the allegation very serious. You do not lie in Parliament. So Zahrain did not lie. He just left out many other facts in his statement in Parliament today.

It is true the opposition had been told -- or at least some of us had been told -- that the military and the Agong were on ‘stand by’ to swear in the new government. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was supposed to have been ousted back in 2008 and a new man was supposed to take over as Prime Minister of Malaysia.

But this new Prime Minister was not supposed to be Anwar. It was going to be another person, an Umno man. And this Umno man is not Najib. It was going to be some other person. And Zahrain, of course, knows this, although he did not say so in Parliament today.

The plot goes as follows. I was asked to meet a certain person named Bul, short for Bulat. All the ‘old boys’ of the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) know whom I am talking about. Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas -- that Umno man from the Umno Disciplinary Board who called me his brother and advised me to return to Malaysia and clear by name in court -- also knows who Bul is and what I am talking about.

Anyway, Bul and I had our first meeting at La Bordega in Jalan Telawi in Bangsar. My wife was also present, as was a fourth person who sat there without opening his mouth and without saying a single word, as if he was a member of the KGB (yeap, figure that one out).

Bul then told me the story about Rosmah Mansor, her ADC Lt Kolonel Norhayati Hassan, and Norhayai’s husband, also holding the rank of Lt Kolonel, and trained in the use of C4, were at the scene of the crime the night Altantuya was murdered. (I got this ‘trained in the use of C4’ bit confirmed by another person, the army Kolonel who conducted the training, so I was quite satisfied that this information is correct).

I asked Bul what he wanted me to do about this information. “Expose it,” replied Bul.

I told Bul if I do that they would certainly arrest me and send me to jail. Bul promised me if that happens then they would come forward to testify. They would not allow me to be sent to jail, Bul assured me. They will come to my aid and make sure that the truth is revealed.

After the meeting my wife told me to forget it. It is too risky, my wife said. So I did nothing.

Bul then requested another meeting and this time we met in the Selangor Club for lunch on a Sunday. That same mysterious ‘KGB’ man was there, as was my wife. Bul asked me whether I was going to act on the information he gave me and I replied, no. I was not sure whether this information is true.

Bul assured me it is true. He has read the Military Intelligence report that they sent to Prime Minister Pak Lah, Bul assured me.

I looked at my wife who shook her head. Bul told my wife not to worry. Bul said he offers his guarantee that I would come to no harm. This is dynamite and Pak Lah will fall because he knows about it yet he keeps quiet. And Najib will also fall so Malaysia will get a new Prime Minister. Then we can talk about forming a unity government with Pakatan Rakyat and maybe offer Anwar the post of Deputy Prime Minister.

Against my wife’s advice I told Bul I would do it. But he must back me up when the shit hits the fan. No problem, Bul said. Kol Azmi, the number two in the Special Branch of the MIO has a copy of the report that was sent to Pak Lah and he is waiting to come forward to expose the whole thing.

Bul wanted to know when I would do it and I replied maybe I would write my article the following day. No, no article, Bul said. An article is not good enough. It must be a Statutory Declaration. The government can just ignore an article. But the government can’t ignore a Statutory Declaration. So it must be a Statutory Declaration.

In the meantime, my wife and I met Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad a couple of times to check whether he is agreeable to the new candidate for Prime Minister or whether he would prefer for Najib to take over. (Tan Sri Sanusi Junid can confirm this). Dr Mahathir gave us the impression that he is not in favour of Najib and that he is agreeable to the man named by Bul.

So we arranged for this man to meet Dr Mahathir and they met a few times. Dr Mahathir also sent Datuk Andrew Leong to meet this man to seal the deal. I, in fact, arranged for the meeting between Andrew Leong and this man. I also sat in on the meeting.

The deal was struck. I would sign my Statutory Declaration. Pak Lah would be ousted. Najib would be blocked from taking over. And the new Prime Minister would take over with Dr Mahathir’s blessing.

Along the way, however, something went wrong. The candidate for new Prime Minister was asked to confirm that he agrees to the setting up a Presidential Council once he becomes Prime Minister. And the Presidential Council, headed by Dr Mahathir, will ‘guide’ the new Prime Minister.

This candidate for new Prime Minister said no. If he becomes Prime Minister then he will decide how this country is going to be run. He is not going to become a puppet Prime Minister with the Presidential Council as the real power behind the throne. Dr Mahathir, in fact, announced during a meeting with about 1,000 Umno members in the Singgahsana Hotel in Petaling Jaya that this Presidential Council will be set up and the next Prime Minister will answer to it.

When this man said no, Dr Mahathir dumped him and turned to Najib. Najib was back in and this other man was out of the picture. But shit, in the meantime I had already signed the Statutory Declaration that was supposed to not only get Pak Lah ousted but disqualify Najib as well.

I was now an embarrassment to them. They needed Najib after all since this other man did not agree to the Presidential Council while Najib did. So they needed to clear Najib’s name. And, to do that, they have to bring me down.

And that, dear readers, is why I am in this predicament. I was supposed to be the catalyst to get rid of Pak Lah and to block Najib from taking over. But the deal went sour. And this other man who was supposed to take over was sidelined. And I was given the ‘red card’ and sent off the field.

And that made my wife fucking mad. When I was detained under the Internal Security Act, Bul phoned my wife and said that this man wanted to meet her. My wife told Bul to tell this man to go fuck himself and hung up the phone.

My wife then went to meet Anwar to tell him the whole story, most of which Anwar already knew. Anwar then went to meet this man, who was supposed to be the new Prime Minister but did quite not make it. Anwar told him that I signed that Statutory Declaration because they asked me to do so. And that was supposed to clear the way for this man, instead of Najib, to take over as Prime Minister.

But he did not dare come forward to reveal what really happened and why I signed that Statutory Declaration. My wife then insisted that Anwar go to court to meet me and tell me in person, which Anwar did. I knew then that they had abandoned me as ‘collateral damage’ and that I was now on my own.

Anyway, I related this story to the Special Branch, which was recorded. I was supposed to then sign my statement, the normal procedure when they take your statement during ISA detention.

Datuk Zambri Ahmad, that senior man in the Special Branch who was in charge of my interrogation, knows exactly what I am talking about. He also confirmed he personally knows Kolonel Azmi, the number two in the Special Branch of the MIO whom I am talking about.

So Zahrain did not lie in Parliament today. What he told Parliament about the military and the Agong being on stand by to swear in the new government is true. Zahrain just did not tell Parliament the whole story. And I have just filled in the missing pieces of the jigsaw puzzle.

Datuk Ramli Yusuff ’s Acquittal: A View From The Stands.

I was in the KL Sessions Court No. 1 today to lend support to Dato’ RamIi Yusuff. Although, in my previous court attendances at Dato’ Ramli’s trial I have seen the good and fair temperament of Judge Gunalan, I was afraid that things may just go wrong at the last minute. I was pleasantly mistaken as I listened to the eloquent Judge. His judgment was precise, logical and unequivocal.

That was why I said in yesterday’s piece that my heart would bleed for Dato’ Ramli if justice was assassinated by the court. That would have been the greatest betrayal, the same betrayal when Caesar fell to the last stab by Brutus and uttered – “ Et tu Brute?”

The court room was jam packed with Dato’ Ramli’s family, friends, wellwishers, reporters and lawyers who wanted to know what will happen to this policeman who had been so vilified and made to look like a crook. I saw many familiar faces, those who had stood by him in throughout this episode.

As I write this piece, I note that the on-line newspapers and blogs have already reported their versions of Judge Gunalan’s brave decision to acquit Dato’ Ramli. Judge Gunalan has again proven that it is the non-Malay members of the bench, that is restoring the integrity and credibility of the Judiciary. Sadly, not much of the same can be said of the Malay members of the bench with the exception of a few like Judge Dato’ Hishamudin.

This time, I will not provide another analysis of Judge’s Gunalan’s judgment. It is sufficient that Malaysians know that Judge Gunalan did not betray justice, he upheld and delivered it!

The moment the good Judge Gunalan pronounced that he was acquitting Dato’ Ramli without calling for his defence, the gallery clapped ever so loudly. Even the three court orderlies (policemen guarding the courts) clapped. The Judge pleasantly smiled his approval before closing the court session and retiring to his chambers.

Dato’ Ramli wept openly. He hugged Dato’ Shafee Abdullah and his other counsel. He hugged his sisters and and his father. It was a very poignant scene in court, one that would make heart weep, and many did. Dato’ Ramli’s old friend and bailor, Dato’ Roger Tan, who arrived late remarked that Ramli should be given a medal for being so filial to his parents and family in taking care of their financial affairs by setting up the company Bonus Circle for his family’s welfare. While he had no interest nor benefit in that company, he had incurred liability to do an Islamic estate planning for his family. Similarly, his loyal friend, lawyer Rajendran remarked that it is sad that a professional, capable and financially savvy bumiputera is brought down in a most Machiavellian way.

I saw the court staff crowding Dato’ Ramli to wish him. I saw policemen and the public hugging him, some of them I believe are strangers. All these that I see with my own eyes and hear with my own ears, show the affection that Dato’ Ramli enjoys.

When the crowd had subsided, I approached Dato’ Ramli to ask about his feelings. His eyes were red, he was still sobbing. His phone was flooded with calls. I saw the popularity of this man.

What an irony that IGP Musa Hassan, the son of an Ustaz, is much despised, whereas this man is so popular. I thought to myself, is the government so blind not to see that this man has what it takes to change the image of the much battered Police Force? There would be no need to hire PR firms to change PDRM’s image. Just bring this man back and allow him to do real police work, unlike the politicking which is what Musa Hassan seems to be only good at.

Crime has soared to an all time high with Musa Hassan as IGP. What KPI had Musa Hassan achieved to deserve any extension of his service? Pak Lah must have been sleeping to give him a two year contract. Najib only fuelled more suspicion by extending it for another year.

When I finally managed to speak to Dato’ Ramli, I was surprised to see that he was contemplative instead of joyous. He said that it is still not over. His Sabah acquittal is being appealed against and is coming on for hearing next week, on March 18. He expressed concern that the A-G would also appeal against today’s acquittal. Reading from the latest reports, it appears that the overweight Razak Musa has already announced there would be an appeal.

Once again, A-G Gani has brought disgrace to his office. Why no prosecution against the Al-Islam reporters for desecrating a Holy Communion rites? Why no appeal against Razak Baginda’s acquittal in the Altantuya murder case? Why this appeal against Dato’ Ramli?

I say to MACC Chief Commissioner Dato Abu Kassim – do not further tarnish the MACC’s image with an appeal. I say to the MACC Panel of Advisers, especially Tan Sri Robert Phang, advise the MACC not to appeal against Dato’ Ramli’s acquittal. In regard to Lawyer Rosli Dahlan, Tan Sri Robert Phang had already said glowing things about this lawyer, so withdraw the case now before the MACC is further embarrased.

As I and other reporters asked Dato’ Ramli how he felt, he said the following:

“Alhamdulillah, today Justice has been delivered.

Praise be to God for having vindicated me from all these false accusations. I have lost almost everything: my rank, my career, my reputation. I have received neither pay nor pension since 2008. I need to rebuild my life again.

I thank my counsel Dato’ Shafee Abdullah and my solicitor Dato’ C Vijayakumar and their very able assistants, Harvinderjit Singh and Badrul, for enabling the truth to surface leading to my acquittal.

My deepest gratitude to my wife Anita who has stood by me throughout this darkest moments of my life. I am sorry that my daughter, Azreen, my sisters and father had to go through this very painful times.

I urge the MACC to withdraw the charge against En Rosli Dahlan, who has had to suffer persecution just for being my true friend and brother, and who was my counsel in this matter. I am sorry to his family for the anguish they faced on my account.

I pray that the 6 junior officers who were made collateral damage would be released and can return to their career.

To my long time friend, Dato’ Roger Tan, thank you for bailing me out. To all my friends who have given me unflinching support, I say -Thank you.

To all the men in blue I say to you – do your job fearlessly and professionally. Uphold your oath of office to “Sedia Berkhidmat”. Do not be afraid of the syndicate. Protect the innocent. To all who wield power in their hands, be mindful of God’s promise that on the Day of Judgment, you shall be held accountable for even an atom’s weight of evil.

God bless us all”.

The humility and clarity of mind of the man struck me. Even in moments like this, he remembers those who have helped him and supported him. That gave me hope that the fight for justice must go on. That injustice affects everyone, and Dato’ Ramli’s case is another illustration of that injustice if the A-G indeed proceed to appeal against his acquittal. If that happens, we must fight it together, to quote Martin Luther King, Jr.:

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.

On 2 September 2004, I met Pawanchik Merican, one of Anwar’s lawyers, in the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya. “Do you know that Ezam and Anuar Shaari have been collecting money in the name of the Free Anwar Campaign?” Pawanchik asked me.

A 41-year-old former aide to PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has come forward here to provide police with information to assist them in investigations to trace the whereabouts of Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamarudin.

Anuar Shaari, a former Finance Ministry officer who worked for Anwar between 1996 and 1998, arrived at the Melaka Tengah district police station at about 10am on Thursday and spend about 30 minutes with Melaka Tengah OCPD ACP Salehhudin Abd Rahman to pass on the information.

“I gave him details and a written description including a photograph of Pakistani-born American Aasil Kazi Ahmad who may be able to provide information on the whereabaouts of Raja Petra," he told reporters here.

Anuar, who currently runs a business here Ayer Keroh, said he came forward with the information following the advice of the police in connection to a press conference he held in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 6 regarding the matter.

“I urge the authorities, in particular the police, to track Aasil’s whereabouts and movements to get him to assist investigations,” he said.

“Both men (Aasil and Raja Petra) are very close and share similar expertise as media strategists,” he said, adding that Aasil is based in Washington but has been making frequent trips to Malaysia since 2004.

He added that Aasil, who works for a politician and acts as a consultant for a local organisation, was often seen in Kuala Lumpur.

He also said he informed police that Dr Munawar Anees, Anwar’s former speech writer, also shared a close bond with Aasil and may be able to shed light on his whereabouts.

As why he decided to come forward now, Anuar said he was merely passing on information to assist police in locating Raja Petra. When met later, Salehhudin confirmed the meeting with Anuar, adding that the information provided by him would be passed to his counterparts in Bukit Aman.

Raja Petra is wanted for failing to appear in court on two occasions last year over a sedition charge. He is accused of defaming the Prime Ministers wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, in an article on his website. – The Star

Actually, this is only part of the story. What The Star failed to report is that Anuar Shaari continued working for Anwar right up to 2004 or so, maybe longer. He was one of the principal ‘operators’ from the day Parti Keadilan Nasional was launched on 14 April 1999 right till the launch of the Free Anwar Campaign in August 2000 and beyond.

In 2003 or thereabouts, Anuar Shaari, Ezam Mohd Nor, and two other people who have all since left the opposition, made a trip to the United States. I did not know about it until I received a phone call from a contact in the US. He wanted me to verify who these four people are and whether it is true that they work for the Free Anwar Campaign.

I was caught off guard and did not know how to respond. I lied and said I was in a meeting and whether I could call him back later. I then got in touch with someone who would know what was going on and asked him what was happening.

The person I contacted was surprised that I had found out.

I was of course quite perturbed. The Free Anwar Campaign was just me. I was running the Free Anwar Campaign alone. There were no other people involved in the Free Anwar Campaign. How come there are now four people in the US who are supposedly there on the Free Anwar Campaign business?

The person I spoke to told me why they were there. He then asked me to call back the US and confirm with the person who had called me that the four are legitimate. I did as I was told -- but not before I gave that person a piece of my mind and told him I did not like what was going on. Nevertheless, for the sake of the cause I will obey the order.

I then called back the US and told my contact that the four people who were there are legitimate. I also gave him the names of the four people and my US contact confirmed that I was right.

It is important that I confirm that these four are authorised to act on behalf of the Free Anwar Campaign, my US contact informed me. Then he asked me another question. “Is it true that the opposition is very short of money and that if they had a few million Ringgit then the opposition has a better chance of winning the next general election?”

“That is true,” I replied.

“Okay,” my US contact told me. “Then we will help arrange something for them. Ten or twenty million Ringgit is no problem for us. We can handle that.”

That was just before the March 2004 general election. But the tens of millions in election funds were not sent to Malaysia. Instead, it was channelled to Hong Kong. And the March 2004 general election came before the money could be diverted from Hong Kong to Malaysia. And we never heard of the money again. Soon after that Ezam and his gang, which included Anuar Shaari, left the opposition and joined Umno. Some left just before the 2004 general election.

I found out later from a very senior party leader that the money came from George Soros (see more here: http://www.georgesoros.com/). The four in fact personally met Soros in his office. And I was even told who had arranged for the meeting and the subsequent funding.

“Yes, I know,” I replied.

“Did they give you anything?” Pawanchik asked me.

“No, not a sen,” I replied.

“I thought so,” said Pawanchik. “I was told they are using your name to collect millions and that they did not give you anything. Why don’t you close down the Free Anwar Campaign? If not these people will use it to collect money.”

My wife who was there agreed with Pawanchik. “That’s what I keep telling him but he is so stubborn,” added my wife.

“I will never abandon Anwar halfway,” I told Pawanchik. “Once Anwar is free then I will close down the Free Anwar Campaign.”

“What if he is not freed? What if he spends 15 years in jail? Do you want to continue running the Free Anwar Campaign for another nine years without being paid any salary and allow them to use it to raise money?”

“I suppose so,” I responded. “But Anwar will be freed today. So today I can close down the Free Anwar Campaign.”

“None of the lawyers think so,” said Pawanchik. I just shrugged my shoulders. Two hours later Anwar was freed by the Federal Court and I went home to make my last posting, ‘Alhamdulillah, Anwar is now free’, and closed down the Free Anwar Campaign.

Yes, that is the story of Ezam Mohd Nor and Anuar Shaari. Of course, I know the identity of the other two who also made that trip to the US, plus the ‘fifth man’, the man I phoned. I also know the name of the senior party leader who told me that the tens of millions came from Soros. And, invariably, I also know the name of my US contact who set the whole thing up. But as long as they keep their peace with me then I shall keep their secret safe. However, the minute they cross me, then their names will be revealed.

Yesterday, Malaysia Today published an article stating that RPK’s lawyers met his son, Raja Azman at Sungai Buloh Hospital. They confirmed that his son, who is currently in remand, had slashed his wrist and swallowed a razor blade. Raja Azman broke down and cried saying that he could no longer stand the physical and mental torture that he was subjected to in jail, and that he wanted ‘out’. And the only way out to him is to end his life.

RPK’s fugitive status arose out of him not making himself available to attend trials relating to charges for criminal defamation and sedition, and the prosecution’s appeal against his ISA release. Having languished in detention twice under wildly draconian and discretionary laws, in both cases subjected to police custody in solitary confinement in locations unknown and in cells no larger than the size of my toilet, never seeing the light of day for days on end, and never knowing where he is, would you not share his sense of impending rough justice, and be tempted to do the same thing, were you to have been in his shoes?

His real major ‘crime’ was to suggest in a Statutory Declaration published in the Internet that there were others involved in the murder of Altantuuya. But in his writings, RPK claims that it was not him that leaked this SD. In fact, his lawyers had handed over the SD to the prosecution team in person and in strict confidence with the hope of convincing them to expand their investigations. However the SD had been leaked by a blogger who disliked RPK, as a result of which RPK was charged for criminal defamation.

Had the leak not happened, RPK would have had considerably less ‘heat’ on his back. He might have found the situation sufficiently manageable and taken his chances in court on the remaining legal matters. He might have remained in KL a free man, having roti canai and teh tarik with his friends, probably bitching about the government, but with his life and that of his family intact.

Instead he has imposed self-exile upon himself and most of his family, and taken himself out of the public sphere in order to continue his cause to speak out against matters for which he continues to feel strongly. And the rhetoric from those who want him brought down has grown stronger and bolder.

No matter how you look at it, RPK’s actions are not that of a heinous and evil nature that befits the tag of being a vicious criminal. After all, at the end of the day, no matter whether one agrees with him, or condones the expressive language he uses, or questions his motives, countless of millions of Malaysians all share a common desire with him. And that is to see meaningful change to greater transparency, accountability, and tolerance in the country.

We all want integrity in government and the recognition that the government is there to serve the Rakyat and not the other way round. And so no matter what discretion and authority the government might avail to make him out to be a criminal, there are millions of Malaysians who will not care. Instead, they would have lit a virtual candle in a quiet part of their soul for him, as a tribute to this man who they believe has put everything on the line, for the sake of doing that which they cannot do, in order that they benefit from a better Malaysia.

For certain, the price he has paid for the choices he has taken far exceeds what most people would be willing to pay. And the frightening cloak and dagger, cat and mouse game he plays with the authorities is presumably part of that bargain. And somehow, this game between RPK and the authorities, as to which fox outwits the other, is played with some basic ‘law of the jungle’-sense of fairness. And so the dispassionate onlooker might see ultimate victory and defeat as fair game to either side.

But when a son becomes a pawn or collateral damage in this game, then the dynamics shift. The lack of gamesmanship that this suggests to any onlooker is deplorable and sickening.

If indeed, the government is in anyway implicated in the physical and mental distress of Raja Azman, simply for the sake of getting back at RPK, then it deserves nothing less then the curse of the whole nation upon it. Were this to be the case, the people will damn this government in everyway it can, and those involved, for such a cowardly and shameful act. I am reasonably sure that every moment RPK and his family is tormented by the uncertainty of his son’s fate, millions of Malaysians around the world will be similarly tormented alongside them in sympathy for the pain that only a father, a mother or a member of the family can feel under such circumstances.

I implore the world media to pick up this story and help uncover what has really happened to Raja Azman, and truly find out how is he being treated.

I beseech the government to clarify his condition and the circumstances under which he has been looked after. Prove to the people that the government is beyond reproach in this matter.

Let this not end in a tragedy for a family and a tragedy for the nation.

KUALA LUMPUR : Pihak polis kini mungkin sedang berusaha memburu seorang lelaki berkuturunan Pakistan yang memiliki kewarganegaraan Amerika Syarikat dengan tujuan mengesan pengendali laman portal sesawang berita Malaysia Today Raja Petra Raja Kamaruddin yang sedang berada di luar negara.

Bekas Setiausaha Sulit Ketua Pembangkang Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Anuar Shaari (dlm gambar) mendedahkan nama lelaki itu sebagai Aasil Kazi Ahmad, di dalam suatu sidang akhbar di sini, baru-baru ini.

Beliau berkata, warganegara AS itu dipercayai masih menghubungi Raja Petra sehingga kini.

Tambah Anuar, Aasil pernah dilihat beberapa kali berada di Malaysia kerana bertugas dengan sebuah organisasi tempatan sejak 2004.

"Saya difahamkan Aasil dapat memberi keterangan kepada pihak berkuasa tentang misteri Raja Petra dan Aasil juga tahu tentang akhbar Herald-The Catholic Weekly," kata beliau.

Anuar berkata, beliau sedia menyalurkan segala maklumat kepada polis mengenai Aasil bagi mengesan tempat persembunyian Raja Petra.

Selain itu Anuar turut mendakwa, bahawa lelaki Pakistan itu boleh membantu siasatan polis berhubung serangan ke atas beberapa buah gereja dalam negara baru-baru ini kerana individu itu juga adalah seorang ahli kepada sebuah NGO di AS.

Tambah Anuar, NGO AS itu adalah antara pertubuhan terawal di luar negara yang mengutip derma untuk disampaikan kepada beberapa gereja di negara ini yang diserang ketika isu penggunaan kalimah Allah sedang hangat diperkatakan mutakhir ini.

Musa Hassan, Malaysia’s IGP, is embarking on a fishing expedition. He has told his officers to explore all avenues on how to get me. The trouble is: many of his own police officers report to me rather than to him. So I know what he did this morning and what he is doing right now even as you read this.

Musa Hassan thinks he has police officers monitoring my movements. Actually, none of his officers really know where I am and instead I have police officers monitoring his movements and reporting to me every day about what is happening on the top floors of the police headquarters in Bukit Aman.

Initially, they thought they could get me through my son. They beat up my son to get him to plead guilty to various criminal charges. But when the case went to court my son revealed that he had been beaten up and he changed his plea to not guilty.

So they had no choice but to allow the trial to go on and it was revealed during the trial that the allegations against my son were not quite true after all.

They then adjourned the trial and sent my son back to the Sungai Buloh Prison where they beat him up again. Then my son went berserk and they had to admit him into the psychiatric ward. Later, they transferred him to solitary confinement because he was still considered a mental case and too dangerous to be allowed to mix with the other prisoners.

Yes, as much as they thought they could keep this hidden from me I managed to find out. And the message I sent the police was they can go ahead and kill my son in prison for all I care. As much as I hate to say so, my son is collateral damage. We are all collateral damage. Sometimes, in a struggle, people must die, even if it is your own son.

Did we not read about the time of the Islamic Empire in Medina when a mother was told that her last son had died in the war? She cried when told she has lost all her sons. But she cried because she had no more sons to offer the cause.

That is what we have been raised to believe in. The cause is more important than all else. So what do they think they can achieve by beating up my son? They think that will soften me? On the contrary, it will harden me even further as this is now more than just about the cause. This is also about seeing that a debt is paid, blood for blood.

And Musa Hassan thinks that just because he is the top dog of the police force that means he is also the smartest police officer in Malaysia. He probably could not find his dick in the dark if his sex life depended on it.

You want to know what good police work is? Let me teach you good police work. Do you know what the Chief Prosecutor of the MACC, Kevin Morais, did for Christmas? I bet you don’t. Do you know he spent Christmas right through New Year with his English boyfriend many years his senior in Bromley, Kent, UK? I bet you didn’t know that.

And I also know you are threatening the police officers who signed Statutory Declarations alleging your links with the Chinese underworld to change their statements and declare that what they first signed were all lies.

It is a bit too late now. Those Statutory Declarations are two years old. You should have made these police officers sign their second Statutory Declarations the very next day like what you made PI Bala do

Do you wish to deny this? Do you wish to say that RPK and Malaysia Today are lying? Let’s hear you say this and then I will publish copies of all these documents just to prove that you are the one lying. Even the Sabah High Court has called you a liar and in a short while I shall publish this evidence in another article.

The powers-that-be is trying to convince you to retire and to take up a position as an Ambassador. Maybe that is the best thing to do seeing that you are no good as a policeman anyway. But why Ambassador? Why do they always send undesirables such as bottom-pinchers to become Ambassadors?

I can suggest two countries they can send you as an Ambassador. Haiti or Mongolia. I am sure the Mongolians would welcome the man who destroyed evidence of Altantuya’s murder to allow the real murderers to get off scot-free.

So what do you plan to do now, Musa Hassan? Offer ‘evidence’ that I published false Statutory Declarations by police officers so that you can charge me under the Multimedia Act? Why did you not do that with my own Statutory Declaration? Why investigate me for signing a false Statutory Declaration but instead charge me for Criminal Defamation where the truth of the matter is not material to the charge? Are you scared of charging me for signing a false Statutory Declaration lest the truth surface in court?

You assume I left Malaysia illegally or on a false or foreign passport. You do not know. You assume I entered another country using a false or foreign passport. You do not know. In fact, you do not even know whether I am still in the country since you can’t trace any evidence that I am not.

What kind of ‘top cop’ are you? You are outraged because I am making a fool of you when actually you are making a fool of yourself. Your entire game plan is based on assumptions and you do not even know whether your assumptions are right in the first place.

I know more about what you are doing than you know about what I am doing. More of your police officers report to me than to you. You are just guessing as to where I am and what I am up to whereas I know your every move. I even know that your chief henchman, Kevin Morais, was frolicking in bed with another man while you thought you had Dato’ Ramli Yusuff’s and Rosli Dahlan’s balls in your grip.

You think you can outsmart me, Musa Hassan? I know you charged one Indian police officer for Kugan’s murder when it was three police officers that beat him to death in the Subang Jaya Police Station. Why charge just the one Indian police officer? Why not charge the other two Malay police officers as well? Is it because you are scared it may turn into a racial issue if the world finds out that two Malay police officers also beat Kugan to death? So if one Indian police officer murders another Indian then the government is ‘safe’? You think we have forgotten that initially 11 police officers were ‘suspended’ and given a desk job for Kugan’s murder?

Musa Hassan, you are not of my league. You are not even of the league of an IO. And I have met many of your IOs in the course of the last eleven years so I know what I am talking about. PUTRAJAYA, Jan 4 - 2010-- Malaysia Today portal editor Raja Petra Raja Kamaruddin may be charged for using a foreign passport to leave the country if a report is lodged against him, said Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail.

Abdul Gani, who was asked whether it was possible to charge the blogger had he been found using a foreign passport to flee the country last year, however, did not confirm if such report was made.

"We have to consider (charging Raja Petra) if there is a report lodged against him and investigations conducted from the report made," he told reporters here Monday.

Abdul Gani said the important thing now was to get hold of Raja Petra first, before re-charging him.

"You don't simply charge a person when you can't get him. When you are sure of getting the person, then you proceed. Since the court granted him a discharge not amounting to an acquittal, he can face the same charges when he is back in the country," he said.

He said the government was still in the process of identifying the location of Raja Petra and once located, proper applications would have to be made in accordance with the respective country, to bring him back to Malaysia and face charges.

Raja Petra was alleged to have used a passport from a neighbouring country to flee to Britain and the Immigration authorities had confirmed that there was no record of him passing through its checkpoint.

Raja Petra went missing after two warrants of arrest were issued for failing to attend court hearings on April 23 and May 23, for publishing seditious words and defaming Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, on his portal, www.malaysiatoday.net.

The Sessions Court later granted him a discharge not amounting to an acquittal on Nov 11 and 13, as the police were yet to serve the warrant of arrest on him.

Efforts to secure the return of fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin from the United Kingdom may not be a straightforward process.

Malaysian police are studying Britain's extradition process and preparing the documents for the return of Raja Petra, also known as RPK.

Malaysia has no formal or special arrangement with Britain to extradite an individual and this is the first time police will be requesting such an extradition

All extradition requests to Britain come under its Operational Policing Extradition procedures, which are outlined in the country's Extradition Act 2003.

Under the act, Raja Petra may have the right to challenge the request in the country's courts and he is entitled to legal representation.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said he was aware of the police's extradition request and his department had been notified of the matter.

"We will abide by the country's law processes in the formal submission of the extradition request to its authorities," he told the New Straits Times yesterday.

Singapore and Brunei are the only countries with whom Malaysia has a special arrangement for the extradition of known fugitives and criminals to be charged in a court of law.

Gani said that like all other countries, Malaysia's extradition request to Britain will go through the proper channels and processes subject to that country's laws.

He said proper considerations had to be made before submission as they were governed by a different set of laws.

The police will seek the advice of the Attorney-General's Chambers on the legal aspects, direction and relevant procedures before submitting the extradition request.

It is not known when the police will formally approach the British authorities on the matter.

Teoh Beng Hock murdered.

KUALA LUMPUR: Teoh Beng Hock was murdered. Top Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand (picture) has sufficient evidence to prove that he was killed.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat organ, Suara Keadilan, reports in its latest edition that her forensic report will be presented at the January 7 inquest into Teoh’s untimely death.

The weekly quotes unnamed Health Ministry sources as saying that Pornthip reached her conclusion after a second postmortem at the Sungai Buloh hospital.

The report adds that Pornthip has made known her findings to all TBHock 1 relevant groups, including the Teoh family and the Selangor government, which commissioned her services.

Teoh (picture) was the political secretary to Selangor executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah. Yong is the Seri Kembangan assemblyperson and a member of DAP, a member party of the ruling coalition in Selangor.

On 15 July, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), investigating allegations of misappropriation of state allocations, raided Yong’s office. Teoh was questioned as a witness at the Selangor MACC office later that day.

At about 1.30pm the following day, a janitor found Teoh’s sprawled body on the fifth floor of the building.

The coroner’s court allowed Teoh’s remains be exhumed on Nov 21 for a second-post mortem.

Earlier in October Pornthip told coroner Azmil Mustapha Abas that based on photographs of his remains, she was 80 percent sure that Teoh was murdered.

The second autopsy was witnessed by British pathologist Prof Dr Peter Venezis acting for MACC, Dr Khairul Azman Ibrahim and Dr Prashant Naresh Samberkar.

KUALA LUMPUR: Dr Yusuf Abdullah al-Qaradawi (picture), whom the Malaysian government recently honoured with one its most prestigious awards, has vowed to pressure Putrajaya to let the syariah court system handle the sodomy allegation against opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

He said he would seek support for this mission from international Islamic organisations and influential Muslim leaders.

Qaradawi, one of the world’s most respected contemporary Islamic jurists, is the Chairman of the International Union for Islamic Scholars. Early this month, Malaysia honoured him with the Tokoh Maal Hijrah award for his contributions to Islamic scholarship. During his stay in the country, he was much feted by the Putrajaya elite. But he found time to pay Anwar a visit, as he always does when he is in Malaysia.

According to Parti Keadilan Rakyat officials who were at the meeting, the scholar reiterated his opinion that the allegation against Anwar was malicious.

They said he lamented the Federal Territories Islamic Affairs Department’s dilly dallying over Anwar’s charge of qazaf against his accuser, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

- Those who sponsored fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin’s stay in London should be exposed, said Batu Pahat MP Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi.

It was more crucial to know those who were supporting the blogger than to initiate extradition exercise against him, he said.

It has been reported that Raja Petra, a bankrupt, was staying in Trinity Court, a posh neighbourhood in Gloucester Bayswater in the heart of London.

“It is of national interest to ascertain the motives of the people who sponsored Raja Petra, as he is a controversial writer who is daring in his attack on the government and making claims that could undermine national security,” he said.

Dr Mohd, who is also the deputy Education Minister, said the police should also ascertain the owner of the posh apartment where Raja Petra was allegedly seeking refuge.

“Such places cannot be simply rented by walk-in tenants,” he said, adding that it was obvious that the sponsors had regarded Raja Petra as an asset as he could be used as a tool to disrupt national security.

“Raja Petra will need to have a huge fund to continue living in luxury in London,” said Dr Puad who also congratulated the police for tracking him down.

Two warrants of arrest were issued against Raja Petra after he failed to turn up in court on April 23 and May 23 for his trials over a seditious article on his website www.malaysiatoday.net which defamed the Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Raja Petra is also accused of defaming Rosmah and two others in a statutory declaration made at the Jalan Duta Court complex on June 18, last year.

The Sessions Court later granted him a discharge not amounting to an acquittal on Nov 11 and 13, as the police had yet to serve the warrant of arrest on him.

Lawyer Datuk K. Kumarendran insisted in the Sessions Court today that the notice served on his client Rosli Dahlan was a “fix up.”

Kumarendran argued that the notice was of “malicious intent” and the witnesses involved were not credible. The notice should therefore not have been issued, he added.

He said the notice was issued on the bases of a witness’s statement and bank reports and that these were insufficient to warrant it.

That the bank statements showed withdrawals from an account did not automatically mean that the money went to former Commercial Crime Investigations Department Director Datuk Ramli Yusuf, he said.

Yesterday, Kumaraendran had challenged the prosecution to “show reasonable grounds” for the charge against Rosli, who was Ramli’s lawyer.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Zulqarnain Hassan said the case was not about the notice itself but Rosli’s failure to respond to the notice issued by the court to declare his assets.

After hearing this afternoon’s arguments, Judge Abu Bakar Katar said a decision on the issue would be made tomorrow, when hearing resumes.

Earlier, the court was told that Rosli, 48, was only a witness and not a suspect in the corruption investigations in which the former CCID director was the suspect.

The second prosecution witness, DPP Anthony Kevin Morais, under questioning by Zulqarnain, told the court he received information which led him to believe that Ramli was on the take.

He said Rosli had had a close relationship with Ramli since their university days and had acted as lawyer for the latter in various matters.

After Morias’ testimony, Kumarendran asked for a break before cross-examination to allow him time to get notes from another court where Morais had given his evidence on the same points in Ramli’s trial.

When the case resumed after lunch, Kumareandran raised the point about the fix up against Rosli.

Rosli has pleaded not guilty to failing to declare his assets to the then Anti-Corruption Agency. The case has attracted much attention, with many alleging that it is a high level conspiracy involving the police and the government administration.

Raja Petra of Malaysia Today has linked the case to various allegations he has made against Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan, including his alleged links with the Chinese underworld.

What the case is really all about?

The ‘mistake’ Ramli made was that he engaged a solicitor to draft the official reply to the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA). The ACA then pounced on the solicitor and asked him to declare his assets as well. The solicitor wrote back seeking further clarification but the ACA did not respond to the query. Instead, they arrested him.

On Monday, lawyer Rosli Dahlan will be in court to face a charge of not responding to an ACA (now MACC) letter. They have made it look like Rosli has violated the law by not declaring his assets when asked to do so. The question is: why should Rosli declare his assets when he is merely the lawyer acting for former Commercial Crimes Investigation Department Director Datuk Ramli Yusuff?

This was never explained. The MACC went for Rosli without explaining why they are doing so. They just sent him a letter asking him to declare his assets without any explanation as to why he needs to declare his assets. When Rosli responded to their letter by asking for further clarification, instead of replying, they came to arrest him on the eve of Hari Raya. And they arrested him in his office in front of his staff. And they roughed him up when they handcuffed him resulting in injury.

Okay, they did not throw him out of the window like they did Teoh Beng Hock. But was all this necessary?

Lawyer charged with hiding information on his assets

Lawyer Rosli Dahlan was charged at a Sessions Court here with not disclosing all information on his assets in his sworn statement last month.

Rosli, 46, a partner in Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill, was alleged to have not complied with the terms of a notice dated July 17, 2007, issued by the Prosecutor under Section 32(1)(b) of the Anti-Corruption Act 1997, to give full information relating to his assets.

Of course, the real issue is they wanted to get Ramli Yusuff. And why do they want to get Ramli Yusuff? Because they want to eliminate any possible successor to the IGP.

You see, the IGP was supposed to retire in August 2007. So that would make Ramli his possible successor. But if they can get rid of Ramli then there would no longer be any ‘suitable successor’. And this would mean the IGP could get an extension of service for an indefinite period of time.

The issue is simple. Musa Hassan must stay. And for him to stay then Ramli has to go. But there is a small problem getting rid of Ramli. They had already fixed him up with allegations of not declaring RM27 million in assets (not for acquiring those assets but for not declaring them). But along came Rosli who presented a brilliant defence that threatened to thwart their plan to get rid of Ramli.

They therefore had to come out with a new game plan. To get rid of Ramli and make sure he goes to jail they must first bring down Rosli.

And that was the beginning of Rosli’s problems, added to the irritation Rosli and Ramli posed by digging up the losses of RM8 billion suffered by MAS that we talked about earlier.

And as follows was what was written about the matter two years ago:

The land of Walt Disney

Today, after many months of ‘rumours’, Datuk Ramli Yusuff, the Director of the Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID), is finally being charged. And he is facing four ‘Mickey Mouse’ charges that would make even Walt Disney proud.

Initially, it was ‘leaked’ that Ramli is being investigated for accumulating RM27 million in assets which he did not declare. He was then given a month to submit his full statement of income and expenditure over 37 years since 1970. Understandably, it is humanly impossible for anyone to account for his or her last 37 months income and expenditure, let alone the last 37 years. Nevertheless, Ramli managed to submit his full statement of accounts prepared by no less than a qualified accountant.

The ‘mistake’ Ramli made was that he engaged a solicitor to draft the official reply to the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA). Being a man learned in law, Ramli decided not to do what Raja Petra Kamarudin had done, and that is to represent himself -- as the court would normally say, “a man who represents himself has a fool for a client”. He decided instead to engage a solicitor to handle what appeared to be the beginning of a very messy legal tangle.

The ACA then pounced on the solicitor and asked him to declare his assets as well. The solicitor wrote back seeking further clarification but the ACA did not respond to the query. When the deadline expired, the ACA came to the solicitor’s office two days before Hari Raya and arrested him for non-compliance to the order that he declare his assets. The solicitor was roughed up and handcuffed in full view of the entire office as one would to a child rapist-killer. The ACA retorted that they are not obliged to reply to any query but those ordered to declare their assets are obligated to do so. It was a beautiful trap and the solicitor walked right into it and got snared. Let this be a lesson to the rest of us. When the ACA keeps quiet then that is bad news, as this solicitor found out the hard way.

The solicitor tried to talk to the ACA officers to allow him time to volunteer his presence at the ACA office but he was told that he needed to be arrested there and then and be brought in immediately. The matter just cannot wait, Hari Raya or no Hari Raya. On reaching the ACA office, the matter suddenly lost all urgency and the solicitor was locked up overnight in the lockup only to be attended to the following day. It appears like all they wanted to do was to lock him up for the night and not allow him to go home. The next day, they charged him for non-compliance to the order to declare his assets. So it was not really that urgent after all and his arrest could have waited until the next day.

Was the solicitor a government servant? Was he involved in corrupt practices? Had he received bribes for dishing out lucrative government contracts to Chinese businessmen? Was he on the payroll of the organised crime syndicates and had received millions as an inducement to turn a blind eye to the prostitution, loan sharking, drugs and illegal gambling rackets? No, this particular solicitor made the mistake of acting on behalf of the Director of the CCID.

Okay, the Federal Constitution of Malaysia says that every citizen is entitled to legal representation. And Ramli, being a citizen of Malaysia, is also entitled to legal representation. But any solicitor who represents him runs the risk of arrest. And this did happen to Rosli Dahlan who was stupid enough to think that it is the right of all Malaysians to defend themselves against criminal charges and who was stupid enough to actually act on behalf of Ramli.

Anyway, Rosli has since made a police report alleging that he was injured during his arrest. He has also launched a civil suit against the ACA. The ACA responded by making a counter police report alleging that Rosli was abusive during his arrest and therefore the reason to rough him up and injure him. This was the same reason given by one-time IGP Rahim Noor in explaining why he needed to beat Anwar Ibrahim to a pulp and leave him unconscious on the floor of the police lockup with no medical attention until the following day. And to add icing to the cake, Rosli’s case has been transferred to Bukit Aman where for sure this time they are going to nail his balls to the wall, side-by-side with Ramli’s balls.

Malaysia Today has been saying for a long time now that there are serious problems in the judiciary. The response from the government was that Malaysia Today spreads lies. Today, that ‘lie’ is a proven fact, which will be recorded in the history books. Since June this year, Malaysia Today has been saying that there are also serious problems in the police force. A series of 12 articles were published with Affidavits, letters, and other documents to support this allegation. Again, this was denied by the Deputy Minister of Internal Security and the IGP. And today, one of the more senior officers in the police force slotted to become the next IGP if the present one retires is facing four criminal charges.

But is he really guilty? Is he really a criminal as they say? One ex-IGP said, going just by their lifestyles alone, it can be assumed that 40% of the police force is corrupted. One ex-Deputy IGP, in turn, said that if they want to clean up the police force then at least 90% of the police officers will have to be sacked. And he is being kind, he said, if not then the figure would be close to 100%. That is what the ex-IGP and ex-Deputy IGP said and they should know.

Is this matter really about whether Ramli is a crook? Time will of course tell whether he is and we shall all soon enough know once the trial gets underway. But will it be in the form of the Altantuya murder trail or in the form of the Anwar Ibrahim corruption-sodomy trial? -- if you know what I mean, and if you don’t then I will not waste any time explaining as this would mean you are living the life of a frog under a coconut shell. Unfortunately, in Malaysia, a trial is not the correct reflection of guilt or innocence. The innocent can be sent to jail while the guilty walks free, even in cases such as murder. And this is why we need massive judicial reforms and this is also why the people profusely oppose the extension of the tenure of the Chief Justice -- who according to the Rulers’ wishes should have retired yesterday.

Ramli was initially investigated for not declaring RM27 million in assets. The four charges that he faces, however, make no mention of the RM27 million. Instead, he is alleged to have failed to declare small change. What was all this RM27 million about then? Why was this figure bandied about these last many months? And who leaked this figure? Somehow the press got wind of this figure so someone must have leaked it to the press. And it was certainly not Ramli because he had no inkling how this figure came about. We must therefore assume that it was the ‘other side’ that leaked it.

This one fact alone gives an impression that there is more than meets the eye here. This is not about a corrupted police officer. If it was, then Parliament would have to set up a special court like they did for the Rulers and about 50 new judges would have to be employed so that all the cases can be settled before all the judges, the accused, the AG and all witnesses die of old age. Yes, that would be how many police officers who will be put on trial.

Anyway, as I said earlier, this is not about whether Ramli is innocent or guilty. We will allow the court to decide that, as I am sure they will dispense justice now that they will be having a new boss (at least I am crossing my fingers and hoping that pigs can fly). What we want to know is whether this is a simple and cut-and-dry case of corruption or failure to declare assets or is this actually fallout from a turf war in the police force with two sides fighting for control of the very lucrative drugs, prostitution, illegal gambling and loan sharking business?

I am prepared to bet ten jugs of beer that this is not about cleaning out the police force or about eradicating corruption but is in actual fact a turf war to control the very lucrative drugs, prostitution, illegal gambling and loan sharking business. And I further bet that no one will dare take my bet. Yes, there is more than meets the eye. There is a sleight of hand, which even the great David Copperfield would find awesome. Malaysia Today is not about reporting the news. Malaysia Today is about telling the untold story. Ex-CCID chief Ramli acquitted of abuse of power

Former Bukit Commercial Crimes Investigation Department director Datuk Ramli Yusuff was acquitted by the Sessions Court here of abusing his public office two years ago.

He was accused of ordering and using a Royal Malaysia Police Cessna Caravan aircraft to take him on an aerial surveillance of two lots in Ulu Tungku, Lahad Datu, in which his real estate company Kinsajaya Sdn Bhd had a personal interest, on June 2007.

Judge Supang Lian in her ruling Monday held that Ramli had no case to answer as the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against him.

“The accused thus deserves to be acquitted,” she said and ordered the RM20,000 bail and all evidence to be returned.

The 56-year-old Ramli was charged under Section 15(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act for abusing his public office through the unauthorised use of a police Cessna Caravan aircraft for pecuniary gain.

The charge provides for imprisonment not exceeding 20 years and a minimum fine of RM10,000 upon conviction.

The offence was allegedly committed at 7.50am on June 15, 2007, at the Sabah Police Air Unit in Tanjung Aru, here.

At Monday’s hearing, Ramli was represented by counsels Datuk Mohd Shafie Abdullah and James Tsai while the prosecution team was headed by Deputy Public Prosecutor Kevin Morais.

The billions that MAS lost: - the shit is finally hitting the fan.

This Monday, lawyer Rosli Dahlan will, again, be in court to face trial for allegedly not responding to an ACA (now MACC) letter. But that is actually not his real crime. If so, then what is? Well, there are actually two parts to this story. One involves ensuring that Musa Hassan gets to stay on as Malaysia’s IGP. The second involves hiding the fact that MAS has lost billions in taxpayers’ money. Let us recap what Malaysia Today wrote awhile back.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

On 7 July 2009, Malaysia Today published ‘The Untold MAS Story: part 1’ (parts 2-8 can be read at the links below). And this was what we wrote then:

In 1994, when Tan Sri Tajudin Ramli took control of MAS through his company, Naluri Berhad, Malaysia’s national airline had a cash reserve in excess of RM600 million. Seven years later, in 2001, when the government bought back MAS for the same price that Tajudin paid, the national airline had accumulated losses in excess of RM8 billion.

What happened to the RM600 million in cash? How did MAS lose as much as RM8 billion over just seven years after showing a profit before that? And why did the government buy back an almost bankrupt airline for the same price that it was sold to Tajudin?

We are talking about a plus of RM600 million down to a minus RM8 billion. Yet there was no discount on the share price. Tajudin got back every cent he paid after ‘bleeding’ the national airline to the tune of almost RM9 billion.

One man decided to launch an investigation into the affairs of MAS to get to the bottom of the whole thing. This man is Datuk Ramli Bin Yusuff, the Director of the Commercial Crime Division (CCD). And this man is now on trial after getting arrested for allegedly abusing his authority and for not declaring his assets.

The basis for launching the investigation was because MAS had earlier made two police reports. The police reports are Dang Wangi Report No. 347/02 dated 4 January 2002 and Dang Wangi Report No. 12532/05 dated 4 May 2005.

The police investigation revealed that MAS had been the victim of fraudulent transactions, breaches of fiduciary duties, and breaches of various statutory duties. And the people guilty of these crimes are Tajudin, his business associates, as well as his family members.

But it was not Tajudin who was arrested and charged for fraud and abuse of power. Instead, Ramli, the head of the CCD, was arrested and charged for abuse of power and for not declaring his assets.

Even before the investigation against Ramli could be launched to establish whether he really did commit any crime as alleged, the Anti-Corruption Agency leaked information to the media that Ramli is guilty of not declaring RM27 million in assets.

Corruption investigations and information related to it come under the Official Secrets Act. How, therefore, could this information be made public when the investigation was still ongoing and nothing had been established yet? It was not known yet whether Ramli had really committed any crime and if so whether the assets he was alleged to have not declared does come to RM27 million. Nevertheless, the details of the investigation were made public as if he had already been proven guilty.

Ramli then engaged a lawyer, Rosli Dahlan (picture above), to handle his case and the lawyer submitted a set of accounts to prove that not only does Ramli’s assets not come to RM27 million but also that he had properly declared everything he owns. Furthermore, all his assets had been acquired in the proper and legal way and not through fraud or corruption.

And that was when they also arrested and charged the lawyer for allegedly also not declaring his assets.

Why do they want to shut the lid on the MAS investigation? Why does the government wish to protect Tajudin? Is it maybe because it is not Tajudin who is behind the shady dealings but that he is merely acting as the nominee or front man for those who walk in the corridors of power?
