New York (Monday, May 13, 2013) – Kevin Reilly, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, today unveiled the FOX primetime slate for the 2013-2014 television season to the national advertising COMMUNITY during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre.

“This season, we will strategically launch five inventive live-action comedies, four distinctive dramas, our first-ever event series, as well as some innovative new digital initiatives, across the week and throughout the year,” said Reilly. “We’re making the biggest investment in original programming in our history to ensure that FOX continues to engage viewers and move the culture more than any other entertainment brand.”

DADS and BROOKLYN NINE-NINE are the two new comedies joining the Tuesday night comedy block this fall. DADS, the new live-action, multi-camera comedy from Emmy Award winner Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild (“Ted,” Family Guy), stars Emmy Award winner Seth Green (Family Guy) and Emmy Award nominee Giovanni Ribisi (“My Name is Earl,” “Ted,” “Avatar”) as two successful gaming entrepreneurs – and childhood best friends – whose lives get turned upside down when their pain-in-the-neck patriarchs (Martin Mull, “Two and a Half Men” and Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Peter Riegert, “The Good Wife,” “The Sopranos”) move in.

From Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation”) and starring Emmy Award winners Andy Samberg (“Saturday Night Live”) and Andre Braugher (“Men of a Certain Age,” “Homicide: Life on the Street”), BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is a new single-camera workplace comedy about what happens when a hotshot detective (Samberg) gets a new Captain (Braugher) with a lot to prove.

New Army-set sibling comedy ENLISTED premieres in the fall. Written and created by Kevin Biegel (“Cougar Town,” “Scrubs”) and starring Geoff Stults (“Ben And Kate,” “The Finder”), Chris Lowell (“Private Practice,” “Veronica Mars”) and Parker Young (“Suburgatory”), ENLISTED is an irreverent and heartfelt single-camera comedy about an older sibling who returns home to reconnect with his two brothers and lead a group of misfits on a small Florida Army base.

This fall, two new dramas also join the schedule. From co-creators/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the “Star Trek” and “Transformers” franchises, “Fringe”) comes the adventure thriller SLEEPY HOLLOW. In this modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic, ICHABOD CRANE (Tom Mison, “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen”) is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to find that the world is on the brink of destruction and that he is humanity’s last hope, forcing him to team up with a contemporary police officer (Nicole Beharie, “Shame,” “American Violet”) to unravel a mystery that dates back to the founding fathers.

Executive-produced by Emmy Award winner J.J. Abrams (“Fringe,” “Lost,” the “Star Trek” and “Mission: Impossible” franchises) and creator J.H. Wyman (“Fringe,” “The Mexican”) and starring Karl Urban (“Star Trek”), Michael Ealy (“Sleeper Cell,” “Common Law”) and Emmy Award nominee Lili Taylor (“Six Feet Under,”), ALMOST HUMAN is a high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop (Urban) is forced to pair with a part-human robot (Ealy) as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.

The new unscripted series set to debut in the fall is JUNIOR MASTERCHEF (working title). The new culinary competition series for talented kids gives budding cooks between the ages of eight and 13 the opportunity to showcase their talent, culinary smarts and passion for food through a series of delicious challenges and cook-offs. Award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay, restaurateur and winemaker Joe Bastianich (Del Posto, Eataly) and acclaimed chef Graham Elliot (Graham Elliot, Graham Elliot Bistro) coach and encourage the promising hopefuls to cook like pros and teach them the tricks of the trade along the way.

New dramas RAKE and GANG RELATED are slated for midseason. Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear (“Little Miss Sunshine,” “The Kennedys”) makes his broadcast television series debut in the bold new legal drama RAKE, created by Peter Duncan (ABC1 Australia’s “Rake”) and executive-produced by Peter Tolan (“Rescue Me,” “Analyze This”) and Michael Wimer (“2012”). Kinnear is KEEGAN DEANE, one of life’s great addicts, a brilliant and frustratingly charming criminal defense attorney, whose chaotic and self-destructive personal life often gets in the way of his professional one. Keegan takes on the cases that nobody else will touch, ruled by a resolute optimism, belief in justice and dogged determination to defend those who seem beyond redemption – much like himself.

Gritty new fast-paced drama GANG RELATED follows RYAN LOPEZ (Ramon Rodriguez, “Battle Los Angeles,” “The Wire”), a rising star in Los Angeles’ elite Gang Task Force – led by SAM CHAPEL (Emmy Award winner Terry O’Quinn, “Lost”) – who teams up with longtime Task Force member CASSIUS GREEN (RZA, “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” “Californication”) to take on the city’s most dangerous gangs, including one he has an allegiance to. Three new comedies – SURVIVING JACK, US & THEM and MURDER POLICE – are set to debut in midseason. From Emmy Award nominee Bill Lawrence (“Spin City,” “Scrubs,” “Cougar Town”), new single-camera family comedy SURVIVING JACK is based on best-selling author Justin Halpern’s autobiographical book, “I Suck at Girls.” Set in 1990s Southern California, Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni (“True Blood,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) stars as a man becoming a dad, as his son (Connor Buckley, “Deception”) becomes a man, in a time before “coming of age” was something you could Google.

Based on an award-winning BBC series and starring Emmy Award nominee Jason Ritter (“Parenthood”) and Alexis Bledel (“Mad Men,” “Gilmore Girls”), US & THEM is a new single-camera ensemble comedy about a young couple, whose path to happily-ever-after is complicated by the screwed-up circus of people closest to them.

New animated comedy MURDER POLICE expands the boundaries of the cop show genre as only animation can. Executive-produced by David A. Goodman (Family Guy) and created by rising writer/animator/performer Jason Ruiz, the series features the voices of Will Sasso (“The Three Stooges,” “MADtv”), Chi McBride (“Golden Boy”) and Jane Lynch (GLEE), and follows a dedicated, but inept detective (Ruiz) and his colleagues in a twisted city precinct.

New event series WAYWARD PINES will premiere in 2014. Based on the best-selling novel, “Pines,” by Blake Crouch, and brought to life by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense,” “Signs,”), WAYWARD PINES is an intense, mind-bending thriller in which nothing is what it seems. Secret Service agent ETHAN BURKE (Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon, “Crash,” “City of Ghosts”) arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, on a mission to find two Missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan’s investigation only turns up more questions. Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive.

It was also announced that New Girl – the Emmy-nominated Tuesday night comedy starring Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone – and one of our new FOX comedies will air following Super Bowl XLVIII Sunday, February 2, 2014 on FOX.

Detective JAKE PERALTA (Samberg) is a good enough cop that he’s never had to work that hard or follow the rules too closely. Perhaps because he has the best arrest record among his colleagues, he’s been enabled – if not indulged – throughout his entire career. That is, until the precinct gets a new commanding officer, Captain RAY HOLT (Braugher), who reminds this hotshot cop to respect the badge. Jake may have collared more criminals, but Detective AMY SANTIAGO (Melissa Fumero, “One Life To Live,” “Gossip Girl”) is close behind, and she’s keenly aware of how many arrests she needs to close the gap. Amy grew up with seven brothers who were all cops. She’s the first girl in the family to put on a police uniform, and suffice it to say: she’s extremely competitive…about everything. Also working cases in Brooklyn’s 99th precinct is Sergeant TERRY JEFFORDS (Terry Crews, “Bridesmaids,” “Everybody Hates Chris”), a linebacker of a man who’s lost his nerve, not because he’s a wimp, but because a year ago, his wife had twin baby girls – Cagney and Lacey – and he can’t imagine not seeing them grow up. This new multi-camera comedy series follows two successful guys – and childhood best friends – now in their mid-30s whose relatively stable lives get turned upside down when their pain-in-the-neck patriarchs move in. A self-described “businessman” (in wine-stained khakis) and a perpetual optimist, Crawford still firmly believes the next big opportunity is just around the corner. Now living with Warner and Warner’s beautiful, hotheaded wife, CAMILA (Vanessa Lachey, “Wipeout,” “True Beauty”), Crawford continues to spend beyond his means, making well-intentioned grand gestures that he can’t afford and that Warner ends up paying for. Equal parts cheap and cranky, David relishes disappointment and has always prepared his son for it, who in turn rebels by spending excessive amounts of money. MURDER POLICE is a new animated comedy series that expands the boundaries of the cop show genre as only animation can. From David A. Goodman (FAMILY GUY) and rising writer/animator/performer Jason Ruiz, the series follows a dedicated, but inept detective and his colleagues – some perverted, some corrupt, some just plain lazy – in a twisted city precinct. At the center of this maelstrom is MANUEL SANCHEZ (Ruiz), a neurotic and nerdy cop who aspires to be a good policeman, but his efforts to solve crimes are constantly put in jeopardy by his own clumsiness and the incompetence of his fellow detectives. Making matters worse, his egotistical, bribe-accepting partner, TOMMY MARGARETTI (Will Sasso, “The Three Stooges,” “MADtv”), a tough, rule-breaking “bad cop,” can’t interrogate a suspect without beating him up. SURVIVING JACK is a new single-camera comedy based on best-selling author Justin Halpern’s autobiographical book, “I Suck at Girls.” Set in 1990s Southern California, the ensemble series is about a man becoming a dad, as his son is becoming a man, in a time before “coming of age” was something you could Google.JACK DUNLEVY (Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni, “True Blood,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”), ex-military and an oncologist, is a no-bull kind of guy. He sees little, if any, need to sugar-coat the truth. Up to this point, Jack’s been the parent who’s left for work early, come home late, eaten the big piece of chicken, yelled at his kids and gone to bed. But after years of deftly raising and running the family, his wife, JOANNE, is going back to law school, leaving Jack as a full-time parent for the very first time. Jack’s teenage son, FRANKIE (Connor Buckley, “Deception”), is just starting his freshman year in high school. Lanky, quick-witted, self-deprecating and not entirely sure of himself, all Frankie wants to do is fly under the radar. But over the summer, he grew 10 inches, threw a no-hitter against a rival team and started to attract girls – all of which put him in some awkward situations – especially when the only base he’s ever been to is on the field. Continuing to deliver some of the most compelling and heartfelt series on television, ABC is adding fourteen new shows to its established slate of programming. Paul Lee, President, ABC Entertainment Group, will unveil the network’s new lineup to the advertising and media communities this afternoon at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall.

“We are taking some big swings with groundbreaking shows this season, and staying close to our roots with smart and sophisticated storytelling. ABC is known for its combination of innovation and stability, and our new schedule reflects that. We’re bringing back the shows that viewers have embraced and enhancing the lineup with a slate of exciting new series,” said Lee.

New series for the 2013-14 season are “Back in The Game,” “Betrayal,” “The Goldbergs,” “Killer Women,” “Lucky 7,” “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Mind Games,” “Mixology,” “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,” “Resurrection,” “Super Fun Night,” “Trophy Wife” and new alternative series “The Quest.”

“America’s Funniest Home Videos,” “The Bachelor,” “Castle,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Last Man Standing,” “The Middle,” “Modern Family,” “Nashville,” “The Neighbors,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Revenge,” “Scandal,” “Shark Tank,” “Suburgatory,” “The Taste” and “20/20” will return.

“Dancing with the Stars” will now air from 8:00-10:00 p.m., on Mondays, integrating the performance show and results show into one night and making each episode action-packed event television.

ABC has also picked up Pixar special “Toy Story of Terror,” starring the original voice cast from the hit film.

A balanced slate of new series and returning hits delivered strong results for ABC in the 2012-13 season. ABC claims 6 of the Top 20 broadcast dramas for the season in Adults 18-49, with “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Revenge,” “Scandal,” “Castle” and “Nashville.” ABC is the No. 1 network on Friday nights this season in Adults 18-49, growing 13% to deliver its top rating on the night in 4 years– since the 2008/09 season.

“RESURRECTION”

The people of Arcadia, Missouri are forever changed when their deceased loved ones suddenly start to return. An 8-year-old American boy (Landon Gimenez) wakes up alone in a rice paddy in a rural Chinese province with no idea how he got there. “BACK IN The Game”

Terry Gannon Jr. (Maggie Lawson) was an All Star softball player until life threw her a few curve balls -- a baby, a lost college scholarship and a loser for a husband. After striking out on her own, Terry and her son, Danny (Griffin Gluck), move in with her estranged father, Terry Sr., aka “The Cannon” (James Caan). “THE GOLDBERGS”

Before there were parenting blogs, trophies for showing up and peanut allergies, there was a simpler time called the ‘80s. For geeky 11-year-old Adam (Sean Giambrone) these were his wonder years, and he faced them armed with a video camera to capture all the crazy. “ONCE UPON A TIME” (Season 3)

Abandoned as a baby, Emma’s life was anything but magical. When her 10-year-old son, Henry, whom she gave up for adoption years ago, appeared on her doorstep with a book of fairytales and told her a crazy story about how she’s the prodigy of fairytale characters who are all trapped in a town called Storybrooke, she thought he was nuts. But curiosity got the better of Emma, and she brought Henry back to the town and soon found out that Storybrooke was more than it seemed. Regina, ever the control freak, had placed herself as Mayor of the town and was Henry’s adoptive mother. Over time Emma began to see through the cracks of the curse, believed that the stories were true and was finally able to break it. Reality and myth merged as the fairytale characters began awakening once the curse was lifted and remembered who they were. But to their dismay, they weren’t transported back to fairytale land. To make matters worse, Rumplestiltskin – aka Mr. Gold – decided to gain the upper hand in his power struggle with Regina and introduced magic into the town. But this is our world, and magic has a tendency to have unfathomable implications.

Host Tom Bergeron is back with an abundant supply of fresh clips that will have families laughing from coast to coast. “The Bachelor”

ABC’s “The Bachelor” is the original primetime romance reality series that offers one lucky man and 25 lucky women the unique opportunity to find true love. This season the hit series will feature its 17th edition with the new Bachelor getting to know 25 women via a series of social gatherings and exotic, romantic dates – some in groups, some individually. He will introduce some of the women to his family and will visit their hometowns for a slice of their lives in an effort to determine the woman with whom he is most compatible. “THE TASTE”

One blind spoonful could change everything on ABC’s alternative series, “The Taste,” an exhilarating one-hour cooking competition that puts 16 culinary competitors – from pro chefs to home cooks -- to the fire with four of the world’s most notable masters of the food world who will judge their creations based on a blind taste test. This pressure-filled contest features no-holds barred chef Anthony Bourdain, British food star Nigella Lawson, expert chef/author Ludo Lefebvre and chef/restaurateur Brian Malarkey. These four culinary superstars and mentors will each coach a team of four competing pro and amateur cooks chosen from a nationwide casting call, as they vie to create the best tasting dish in a state of the art kitchen. In each episode the groups will face team and individual challenges with a variety of culinary themes through various elimination rounds. At the end of each episode, the mentors will have to judge the competitors’ dishes blind -- with no knowledge of whose creation they’re sampling, what they’re eating, how it was prepared or whom they could be sending home.

20 Hit Series Return

CBS unveiled today its new 2013-2014 schedule, featuring eight new series – five comedies and three dramas – to build on the strength of America’s top-rated network. Five of the new series will premiere in the fall and three at mid-season.

CBS will finish the current season as the top-rated network in viewers for the 10th time in 11 seasons, #1 in the adults 25-54 demographic and #1 in adults 18-49 for the first time since the 1991-1992 season.

For next fall, the Network is increasing its comedy lineup with four new comedies, expanding its comedy block on Thursdays from 8:00-10:00 PM and creating an encore hour for comedy broadcasts on Saturdays.

The new comedies are THE CRAZY ONES, a single-camera comedy from executive producer David E. Kelley starring Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar; THE MILLERS, a multi-generational family comedy from executive producer Greg Garcia starring Will Arnett, Margo Martindale, Beau Bridges and JB Smoove; MOM, an edgy family comedy from executive producer Chuck Lorre starring Anna Faris and Allison Janney; and WE ARE MEN, an ensemble single-camera comedy starring Tony Shalhoub, Kal Penn, Chris Smith and Jerry O’Connell.

Two new dramas have been scheduled for Mondays at 10:00 PM. HOSTAGES, the serialized suspense thriller from executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer starring Toni Collette and Dylan McDermott, premieres in the fall, building to a season finale in January. Soon after, INTELLIGENCE, a high-octane action drama starring Josh Holloway, Marg Helgenberger and Meghan Ory, moves into the time period for the remainder of the season.

The freshman series will be joined by 20 returning shows including NCIS, the season’s most watched show; The Big Bang Theory, the season’s #1 comedy in viewers and demos; 60 Minutes, the season’s #1 news magazine; and ELEMENTARY, the season’s #1 new drama.

The other returning series include: How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls, NCIS: LOS ANGELES, Person Of Interest, SURVIVOR, Criminal Minds, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, Two and a Half Men, Undercover Boss, Hawaii Five-0, Blue Bloods, 48 HOURS, THE Amazing Race, THE Good Wife and THE Mentalist.

In addition, the proven hit returning comedy MIKE & Molly, starring Academy Award nominee Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell; the new steamy legal drama RECKLESS; and the new romantic comedy FRIENDS WITH BETTER LIVES are set for mid-season.

On Monday, the veteran comedy How I Met Your Mother begins its climatic final season at 8:00 PM, providing a strong lead-in for the new single-camera ensemble comedy WE ARE MEN at 8:30 PM. The top-rated comedy of the night, 2 Broke Girls, is at 9:00 PM, seamlessly leading into the new Chuck Lorre comedy MOM at 9:30 PM. At 10:00 PM, HOSTAGES will launch in the fall, building to a season finale in January. Soon after, INTELLIGENCE will take over the time period for the season.

On Tuesdays, CBS makes a key scheduling move at 10:00 PM, creating a powerhouse lineup in which the three top-rated dramas on television now air on the same night. The most-watched series on television, NCIS, returns at 8:00 PM, followed by the #2-rated drama NCIS: LOS ANGELES at 9:00 PM. The #3-rated drama and fastest-growing series, Person Of Interest, caps the night at 10:00 PM.

On Wednesday, CBS’s strong lineup returns with the popular reality series SURVIVOR kicking off the night at 8:00 PM. The highest-rated drama of the night, Criminal Minds, returns at 9:00 PM, followed by the time-period-winning CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION at 10:00 PM.

On Thursday, CBS is expanding its comedy lineup from 8:00-10:00 PM. The #1-rated comedy, The Big Bang Theory, returns at 8:00 PM, giving a powerful lead-in to the new Will Arnett comedy THE MILLERS. THE CRAZY ONES, featuring the return to series television of the legendary Robin Williams, opens the new comedy hour at 9:00 PM, followed by the return of the #2-rated comedy on TV, Two and a Half Men, at 9:30 PM. The #1-rated new drama, ELEMENTARY, caps the night at 10:00 PM.

On Friday, CBS moves an established drama to the middle of the lineup to strengthen a winning night. At 8:00 PM, the Emmy Award-winning and time period leader Undercover Boss returns. The popular drama Hawaii Five-0 establishes a new beachhead at 9:00 PM, leading perfectly into Blue Bloods, the top-rated series of the night, at 10:00 PM.

On Saturdays, CBS has another hour of comedy. COMEDYTIME will feature encore broadcasts of the Network’s hit comedies at 8:00 PM, followed by the popular CRIMETIME programming at 9:00 PM, and the night’s top-rated broadcast 48 HOURS at 10:00 PM.

On Sunday, CBS’s critically acclaimed lineup returns intact with the top-rated, award-winning news magazine 60 Minutes at 7:00 PM, followed by Emmy Award winner THE Amazing Race at 8:00 PM, the critical favorite THE Good Wife at 9:00 PM and THE Mentalist at 10:00 PM.

The Comedies:

WE ARE MEN is a single-camera comedy about four single guys living in a short-term apartment complex who unexpectedly find camaraderie over their many missteps in love. Carter (Chris Smith), the youngest and most recent addition to the group, moved in after being ditched at the altar mid-ceremony, and is now eager to re-enter the dating scene and get on with his life with some guidance from his “band of brothers”: Frank Russo (Golden Globe and multiple Emmy Award winner Tony Shalhoub), a successful middle-aged clothing manufacturer and four-time divorcée who still fancies himself a ladies man; Gil Bartis (Kal Penn), a small business owner who was caught having the world’s worst affair; and Stuart Strickland (Jerry O’Connell), a speedo-wearing OB/GYN who’s hiding his assets until his second divorce is settled. Jill (Rebecca Breeds) is Frank’s charming and attractive daughter, who stands as the one positive remnant from his failed relationships. Armed with a hot tub, pool-side barbeque and plenty of questionable advice, these losers in the marriage department take Carter under their wing to impart their own brand of wisdom about the opposite sex. MOM is a comedy from executive producer Chuck Lorre starring Anna Faris as a newly sober single mom raising two children in a world full of temptations and pitfalls, and multiple Emmy Award winner Allison Janney as her critical, estranged mother. Christy (Faris) is a waitress at a posh Napa Valley establishment who is four months clean and doing her best to be a good mom and overcome a history of questionable choices. Her sobriety is tested when Bonnie (Janney), her recovering alcoholic mom, reappears chock-full of passive-aggressive insights into Christy’s many mistakes. Bonnie joins Christy’s already complicated circle of relationships: her handsome, married boss – and lover – Gabriel (Nate Corddry); the restaurant’s hot-tempered chef, Rudy (French Stewart); her pretty, 16-going-on-25-year-old daughter, Violet (Sadie Calvano); her sweet but overly honest son, Roscoe (Blake Garrett Rosenthal); her irresponsible ex-husband and Roscoe’s father, Baxter (Matt Jones); and Violet’s clueless boyfriend, Luke (Spencer Daniels). Christy tries to remain positive as she pursues her new path in life, but she faces an uphill battle, surrounded by a dubious support system – and a copious amount of dysfunction. THE MILLERS stars Will Arnett as Nathan Miller, a recently divorced local roving news reporter looking forward to living the singles’ life until his parents’ marital problems unexpectedly derail his plans. After Nathan finally breaks the news of his divorce to his parents, Carol (Emmy Award winner Margo Martindale) and Tom (Emmy Award winner Beau Bridges), his father is inspired to follow suit and stuns the family when he leaves his wife of 43 years. Already in shock, Jack is even more aghast when his meddlesome mom decides to move in with him. Meanwhile, his absent-minded dad imposes upon Nathan’s sister, Debbie, her husband Adam and their daughter Mykayla (Eve Moon). Nathan’s best friend and news cameraman, Ray (JB Smoove), was excited to be Nathan’s wingman in the dating scene, but Carol manages to even cramp his style. Now, as Nathan and his sister settle in with their truly impossible parents, they both wonder just how long the aggravating adjustment period is going to last. Academy Award winner Robin Williams returns to series television in THE CRAZY ONES, a single-camera workplace comedy about a larger-than-life advertising genius whose unorthodox methods and unpredictable behavior would get him fired… if he weren’t the boss. Simon Roberts (Williams) is the head of a powerful agency, with the biggest clients and brands in the world, but even more important to him is that his daughter Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is by his side. As his partner, Sydney is Simon’s exact opposite – focused, organized and eager to make a name for herself, but also too busy parenting her father, which she’d resent if he wasn’t so brilliant at what he does. Joining them in The Firm are the dashing and talented Zach (James Wolk); art director Andrew (Hamish Linklater), who’s as hard-working as he is neurotic; and the beautiful and deceptively smart assistant Lauren (Amanda Setton). With his team and his daughter behind him, Simon continues to set the advertising world on fire, and it looks like they are definitely buying what these crazy ones are selling. The Drama:

HOSTAGES, from executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer, is a high-octane suspense drama starring Emmy Award winner Toni Collette as a premiere surgeon thrust into a chilling political conspiracy when her family is taken hostage by rogue FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle (Dylan McDermott). Dr. Ellen Sanders (Collette) and her family are held captive in their home by Carlisle, a desperate man doing the wrong thing for the right reasons, who orders her to assassinate the President (James Naughton) when she operates on him. His highly skilled accomplices include his brother-in-law Kramer (Rhys Coiro), whose loyalty to Carlisle will be tested; quick-tempered and intimidating Archer (Billy Brown), an ex-military man with a razor-sharp tongue; and the only woman involved, Sandrine (Sandrine Holt), a mysterious last-minute replacement to the team. With her family’s life in peril, Ellen faces an incomprehensible moral dilemma in order to save her overbearing husband Brian (Tate Donovan), her secretive daughter Morgan (Quinn Shephard) and her not-so-innocent son Jake (Mateus Ward). In this high-stakes standoff between Ellen and Carlisle, fraught with tremendous national and personal consequences, the choices between right and wrong become even more blurred. Mid-Season:

INTELLIGENCE is a dramatic thriller starring Josh Holloway as a high-tech intelligence operative enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. With this implant, Gabriel (Holloway) is the first human ever to be connected directly into the worldwide information grid and have complete access to Internet, WiFi, telephone and satellite data. He can hack into any data center and access key intel in the fight to protect the United States from its enemies. Leading the elite government cyber-security agency created to support him is Director Lillian Strand (Marg Helgenberger), a straightforward and efficient boss who oversees the unit’s missions. Strand assigns Riley Neal (Meghan Ory), a Secret Service agent, to protect Gabriel from outside threats, as well as from his appetite for reckless, unpredictable behavior and disregard for protocol. Other skilled members of the Cybercom team include Chris Jameson (Michael Rady) and Gonzalo “Gonzo” Rodriguez (James Martinez), two resourceful federal investigators. The brains behind the design of the chip is Dr. Shenendoah Cassidy (John Billingsley), whose son, Nelson (PJ Byrne), is jealous of Gabriel’s prominent place in his father’s life. As the first supercomputer with a beating heart, Gabriel is the most valuable piece of technology the country has ever created and is the U.S.’s secret weapon. RECKLESS is a sultry legal drama set in Charleston, S.C., where a gorgeous Yankee litigator and a charming Southern attorney must hide their intense mutual attraction as a police sex Scandal threatens to tear the city apart. Jamie Sawyer (Anna Wood) is enviously cool, confident and armed with south-side-of-Chicago street-smarts as she takes on the good ol’ boys in the South. Her handsome courtroom rival, Roy Rayder (Cam Gigandet), a divorced father of two, embodies the Old South and is the newly minted City Attorney, thanks to his influential former father-in-law, Dec Fortnum (Gregory Harrison). When disgraced cop Lee Anne Marcus (Georgina Haig) hires Jamie to represent her in a lawsuit against the police department, Jamie and Roy discover that Lee Anne is at the epicenter of a sinister case with dire implications for the members of the Charleston P.D. Heading that department is Deputy Chief Holland Knox (Michael Gladis), a family man who radiates integrity. NEW YORK CITY — May 12, 2013 — NBC has announced a new lineup of primetime shows for the 2013-14 season that provide a winning combination of popular returning series, fresh new comedies, compelling new dramas and the latest season of “The Voice,” the top reality program on television.

Highlights of the year-round schedule — which will be bolstered in February on the heels of the Winter Games in Sochi, Russia — include “Believe,” a new drama from J.J. Abrams and Alfonso Cuaron; the return of three-time Emmy winner James Spader in action thriller “The Blacklist”; and a comedy lineup that includes new series from “Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood” executive producer Jason Katims, Will Ferrell, Bill Lawrence, Sean P. Hayes, and a return to NBC of one of the biggest TV stars of any generation, Michael J. Fox.

The new comedy additions are “Welcome to the Family,” “Sean Saves the World,” and “The Michael J. Fox Show” as well as midseason comedies “The Family Guide,” and “About A Boy.”

The new dramas are “The Blacklist,” “Ironside,” and “Dracula,” plus mid-season dramas “Believe,” “Crisis” and “Crossbones.”

NBC has also ordered dramas “Chicago PD” and “The Night Shift” and comedy “Undateable” as unscheduled midseason series.

New alternative series premiering during the 2013-14 season include “The Million Second Quiz” and “American Dream Builders.” Returning to the schedule are “The Biggest Loser” and “The Sing-Off.” “Food Fighters” has been ordered as an unscheduled midseason show.

Scripted series returning include “Grimm,” “Parenthood,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Revolution,” “Chicago Fire,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Community.”

Pick-up decisions on “Celebrity Apprentice” and “Hannibal” are still to be made in the next few weeks.

“The Voice” will kick off its fifth season in September on Mondays (8-10 pm. ET). The current cycle of “The Voice” has been primetime’s #1 show of the week on the Big Four networks, excluding sports, for four of six weeks thus far in adults 18-49.

The announcements were made by Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment.

“The overriding strategy this year was to develop enough strong comedies and dramas to take advantage of the promotional heft of the Winter Olympics and devise two schedules for the upcoming season: one for fall and a slightly different one for midseason. I’m pleased to say that our development groups — headed by Jennifer Salke (scripted) and Paul Telegdy (alternative/reality) — really delivered,” Greenblatt said. “This is the most robust and highest-testing slate of new shows we have had in years.”

Greenblatt continued, “And aside from our Olympics planning, we also wanted to create better flow and compatibility on each night, and deploy our strongest lead-in (‘The Voice’) to maximum effect.

“Sunday in the fall remains the night to beat with ‘Sunday Night Football.’ After football and the Olympics are over, we will launch two classy, attention-getting dramas in February: ‘Believe’ from J.J. Abrams, and ‘Crisis’ starring Dermot Mulroney and Gillian Anderson. We think it’s time for big dramas again on Sunday nights. And leading into these dramas at 8 p.m. will be an exciting home renovation competition hosted by Nate Berkus called 'American Dream Builders.'

“Monday and Tuesday will again dominate with ‘The Voice.’ Our highly anticipated new James Spader drama ‘The Blacklist’ deserves to go into the 10 p.m. slot on Monday, and we’re moving ‘Chicago Fire,’ a show we really believe in, to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays to benefit from ‘The Voice’ lead-in that will be at 9 p.m. in the fall.

“After the Olympics, however, ‘The Voice’ moves back to 8 p.m. on Tuesday so that we can launch two of our strongest new family comedies in the 9 p.m. hour: ‘About a Boy’ and ‘The Family Guide.’ Landing more comedy on the schedule is important and using ‘The Voice’ as a lead-in after the Olympics is the strongest way to do that.

“I believe we’ll have a more compatible Wednesday line-up with three dramas: ‘Revolution,’ ‘Law & Order: SVU’ and ‘Ironside,’ starring Blair Underwood, which is another new show we’ve very high on.

“Thursday will have a family theme, starting with a two-hour comedy block from 8-10 p.m. anchored by strong stars: Amy Poehler in ‘Parks and Recreation,’ Mike O’Malley in ‘Welcome to the Family,’ Sean Hayes in ‘Sean Saves the World’ and the new ‘Michael J. Fox Show.’ Then at 10 p.m. ‘Parenthood’ moves in to top off the night with what I know is the best family drama on television.

“On Fridays, anchored by ‘Grimm’ at 9 p.m., we will have a more fun genre night with the limited-series ‘Dracula,’ starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers at 10 p.m. In the spring, ‘Crossbones’ — with John Malkovich as the infamous pirate Blackbeard — replaces ‘Dracula,’” said Greenblatt.

Jordan Wertlieb, President of Hearst Television and Chair of the NBC Affiliate Board, commented, “This schedule is another example of NBC's continued commitment to restoring prime time to its traditional leadership position. “ABOUT A BOY”

Based on the best-selling Nick Hornby (“High Fidelity,” “An Education”) novel, writer Jason Katims (“Friday Night Lights,” “Parenthood”) and director Jon Favreau (“Iron Man,” “Revolution”) present a different kind of coming-of-age story. Will Freeman (David Walton, “Bent,” “Perfect Couples”) lives a charmed existence as the ultimate man-child. After writing a hit song, he was granted a life of free time, free love and freedom from financial woes. He’s single, unemployed and loving it. So imagine his surprise when Fiona (Minnie Driver, “Good Will Hunting,” “Barney’s Version”), a needy single mom and her oddly charming 11-year-old son, Marcus (Benjamin Stockham, “1600 Penn”), move in next door and disrupt his perfect world. When Marcus begins dropping by his home unannounced, Will’s not so sure about being a kid’s new best friend, until, of course, Will discovers that women find single dads irresistible. That changes everything and a deal is struck: Marcus will pretend to be Will’s son and, in return, Marcus is allowed to chill at Will’s house. “THE FAMILY GUIDE”

It’s not every family that’s brought closer together by divorce, but then again, the Fishers aren’t exactly typical. Take Mel Fisher (J.K. Simmons, “The Closer,” “Law & Order”), for example. Whether it’s chopping down trees, showing his daughter how to drive or playing football with his son, he’s never let the fact that he’s blind slow him down. Then there’s Joyce Fisher (Parker Posey, “Louie,” “For Your Consideration”), possibly the only mom in Pasadena to smoke a pipe. For her, divorce is like a second coming of age, a chance to be the teen she never was. Just ask ‘80s-obsessed teenage daughter Katie (Ava Deluca-Verley, “Southland”), whose clothes Joyce is always borrowing. At the center of all this is Henry (Eli Baker), the Fisher’s 11-year old son. Having always been his dad’s eyes, ears and wingman, Henry’s less than thrilled when Mel shows up with Elvis, a guide dog… which is also how Henry learns about the pending divorce. While reluctant to the changes this dog would bring, it’s through the adult Henry’s voice-over (Jason Bateman, “Arrested Development”) that we find out his parent’s split would “allow all of us to finally discover who we needed to be.”

The trick, as it’s always been, was to make Mike think it was his idea. Ellie sees this development as a plus. She loves her dad, but he’s clearly going overboard. From keeping his boss happy, employees motivated and enduring his mother’s tactless “advice” to raising a smart, grounded and healthy kid, it’s going to be a growing experience, to say the least. “UNDATEABLE”

When confident slacker Danny Beeman (Chris D’Elia, “Whitney,” “Glory Daze”) takes Justin (comedian Brent Morin) on as a roommate, Danny unwittingly inherits Justin’s group of romantically challenged friends. Seeing himself as the ultimate player, Danny decides to teach the crew (who he dubs “The Undateables”) everything he knows about “The Game of love.” For their first lesson, Danny takes the guys to an event hosted by his sister, Leslie (Bianca Kajlich, “Rules of Engagement”), who is a single mom with dating difficulties of her own. At first, Danny’s advice seems to pay off big-time: The shy guy talks to a girl, the no-filter dude learns it’s never OK to ask a woman when she’s due, and his nebbish roommate, Justin, goes home with a mystery woman. It’s not until the next day that they figure out it was Leslie. Here’s a refreshing comedy about the “do’s,” “don’ts” and “duhs” of dating.

Across town in East L.A., Junior Hernandez (Joseph Haro, “Glee,” “Awkward”), in the middle of his high school valedictorian speech, gets a text from girlfriend Molly that he’s going to be a daddy. Expectedly, Junior’s parents Miguel (Ricardo Chavira, “Desperate Housewives”) and Lisette (Justina Machado, “Six Feet Under,” “ER”) are also upset, as they now have Caucasians in the family. What follows is a crash course in culture blending as Molly and Junior decide they want to get married and, in doing so, bring together two very different families. The dads have the most difficult time reconciling while the moms take a softer approach to get to know one another. When the parents fully realize that their kids are serious about making a life together, the adults exhale and begin to come to terms with this new blended family and start to understand it will take, humor, love and tolerance to make it all work.

“CROSSBONES”

It’s 1715 on the Bahamian island of New Providence, the first functioning democracy in the Americas, where the diabolical pirate Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard (John Malkovich, “(In the Line of Fire”), reigns over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreant sailors. “DRACULA”

“THE NIGHT SHIFT”

Welcome to the night shift, where every day is a fight between the heroic efforts of saving lives and the hard truths of running a hospital. At San Antonio Memorial, the men and women who work the wee hours are a special breed, particularly adrenaline junkie T.C. Callahan (Eoin Macken, “Merlin”). After a grueling tour of duty in the Middle East, T.C. is about to learn that his toughest battles will be fought right at home. He and his irreverent team of late-night docs, including Topher (Ken Leung, “Lost”) and Drew (Brendan Fehr, “Roswell”), know how to let off steam with the casual prank or two, but when lives are at stake they are all business. Unfortunately, the night shift is now under new management and boss Michael Ragosa (Freddy Rodriguez, “Six Feet Under”) is more interested in cutting costs than helping people. But T.C. has never met a rule he couldn’t break, or a person he won’t stand up to. And it’s clear that not even his ex-girlfriend (Jill Flint, “The Good Wife”) who is a doctor and now Ragosa’s second in charge, has a chance at keeping him in line. If Ragosa wants a war, he’ll get one.

NEW YORK, May 16, 2013 — The CW Network presented its 2013-14 broadcast schedule today to advertisers, affiliates and national media at the New York City Center in New York City. The Swedish DJ duo Icona Pop opened the show with their smash Top Ten hit “I Love It.”

“We had a terrific season last year, growing our audience on-air, digitally and socially. Now we are building on that success by continuing to add more original programming all year long, and by adding high-concept, exciting shows to our schedule that will help us continue our mission of broadening out our 18-to-34-year old audience,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. “‘Arrow’ was one of the breakout hits of this season, and we’re using that show and ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ our two highest-rated series, to launch our new dramas ‘The Tomorrow People’ and ‘Reign,’ on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

“Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah, the original family of vampires, have become fan favorites over the past three seasons on ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ and we know viewers will be excited to see more of their story in their new spin-off series, ‘The Originals,’ on Tuesday nights. And with ‘Star-Crossed’ and ‘The 100’ set for midseason, The CW is poised to keep growing and keep our momentum going.”

The CW will launch its fall season in October 2013. Premiere dates to be announced at a later time.

Monday nights are the new home for Rachel Bilson as Dr. Zoe Hart of BlueBell, Alabama on Hart Of Dixie from 8:00-9:00p.m., followed by the second season of the epic romance, Beauty And The Beast, starring Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan, from 9:00-10:00p.m.

The CW kicks off its new Tuesday lineup from 8:00-9:00p.m. with the highly anticipated spin-off of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES – THE ORIGINALS – starring Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies and Claire Holt as the original vampire family. From 9:00-10:00p.m., SUPERNATURAL, the fan-favorite drama that saw ratings growth this season, moves to a new night as the Winchester brothers embark on the ninth season of their otherworldly battle against evil.

On Wednesday nights, the breakout action drama ARROW hits its mark again in the 8:00-9:00p.m. timeslot, with Stephen Amell as Starling City’s vigilante Archer. From 9:00-10:00p.m., new action-adventure drama THE TOMORROW PEOPLE stars Robbie Amell as a young man with abilities he is only beginning to understand.

The CW returns to Mystic Falls on Thursday nights with its highest-rated series, the critically acclaimed, social media favorite THE VAMPIRE DIARIES from 8:00-9:00p.m, followed at 9:00-10:00p.m. by the sweeping, romantic and racy new historical drama REIGN, staring Adelaide Kane as the young Mary, Queen of Scots.

Fridays stay stylish with a new night for The Carrie Diaries, starring AnnaSophia Robb as the young Carrie Bradshaw, kicking off the night from 8:00-9:00p.m. This season, viewers will see how Carrie and Samantha Jones met and became friends. From 9:00-10:00p.m., the fierce Tyra Banks and AMERICA’S Next Top Model put the finishing touch on Friday nights.

New dramas STAR-CROSSED and THE 100 will premiere at midseason, with dates and times to be announced later, along with the new reality series FAMOUS IN 12.

Supernatural S08E23 "Sacrifice" Episode Review (Season 8 Finale!)

"For the first time in a long time it feels like we're gonna win." ...Sam

The Hell trials and the Heaven trials collide in "Sacrifice" and the end result is spectacular!

Other than stopping the apocalypse, this was probably the biggest season ending to date.

To recap, the plan to cure a demon is a bust! It's possible, Sam gets the ball rolling, Crowley discusses watching GIRLS (tragic), but then it all falls apart. Turns out that Metatron is a tool and has been telling a whole lotta lies about his true intentions, which I feel dumb for not seeing sooner. He's not looking to close the gates of Heaven at all. He's looking to toss all the angels out on their angelic asses! And he succeeds.

He's a vengeful little assbutt, huh?

But more on that a bit later. First, the Winchesters. They're separated early on which is a bit of a bummer, but by the end they're back together (stop pulling them apart, it doesn't really work!).

Dean learns that Sam's gotta die to complete the trials, and so they call it quits with one of the best "brother moments" the show has probably ever done. We all love those, right? Sam spills his emotional guts and Dean gives it all right back.

Usually Dean gets the heavy lifting in these situations, but here it's all about Sam. Which I happen to really appreciate. It's not often he's given this sorta stuff to work with, but in "Sacrifice" he gets the goods and brings home that bacon!

The performance is the perfect mix of love, truth, anguish, and plain old raw emotion, and Padalecki really does it justice.

I was a little disappointed that Sam gave up so soon and didn't finish the trials (what would Crowley have become?), but I think I'd rather have Sam alive. Not that being dead has ever really been a problem for the Winchesters or anything, right?

It's a little anticlimactic, but it's not exactly cut and dry either. Sam's not really skipping around the room or doing cartwheels, is he? He collapses in Dean's arms, leaving us to wonder about the lasting effects for next season. Is he purified? Can he recover? And what about Crowley? He's not entirely demonic just now, but he's not "cured" either. Where does the story leave him?

Hopefully he'll be just as big a dick as ever when he shows up again. I didn't really want him cured anyway.

There's also Castiel to consider. Metatron does his worst and sends Castiel back to earth free of his grace. What does that make him? Human? Free to make babies? Do we really need to see that? Lots and lots of questions.

And then...

"Angels... they're falling!"

As TV special effects go, that had to be some of the most impressive ever! I feel silly saying the scene was beautiful, but dammit, it was. It was visually stunning and it has huge implications for the future of the show. Mainly I'm left thinking about all the trouble those guys are gonna stir up when they hit the ground, especially with the gates of Hell still wide open. There's gonna be a lot of angel/demon wrestling matches going on.

But more than that, how can such an event be concealed from the rest of the world? Something that BIG had to be witnessed by people all over, right? People will have seen that.

Is it possible that Supernatural might finally go public?

Supernatural S08E22 "Clip Show" Episode Review

"Even banged up, Sammy comes through"... Dean

OK, so this was one of those episodes of Supernatural where everything the Winchesters do goes balls up and they feel totally worthless and useless, and then they consider giving up. They won't give up, but they sure as hell have enough reasons to do so.

After completing the first two trials successfully, Sam and Dean end up knee-deep in dead bodies (bodies of those they've already saved), and Abaddon is on the loose. The brothers are having a sh!t time of it just now. And it's all thanks to Crowley. What a dick!

The sleaze-bag King of Hell is killing off the Winchester's success stories one by one until they turn over the goods and put all this gates of hell "nonsense" behind them. These guys have been up against more walls that I care to remember by now - usually they've been thrown against them - but their current predicament is perhaps the grimmest (is that a word?) to date. They do nothing and a bunch of people die. They keep at it and a bunch of other people die.

Is there any way out?

Abaddon was their ticket, but I knew (and so did you, right?) that the second Sam & Dean turned their backs, she would be out of that chair like a shot. Shouldn't they know by now NOT to turn their backs on a demon? I'll let that pass I guess, since it lead to one of the best scenes of the night - the hands! Now I just want to know what part she's gonna play in the finale? There's no way she's not showing up next week.

Elsewhere, Castiel arrives and begs for forgiveness, while Dean acts like a 13 year old girl and gives him the silent treatment. Granted, Castiel regularly fu¢ks stuff up, but the poor guy actually bought BAB(*) and went nuclear over the lack of convenience store pie. So he's making an effort. When will the band get back together?

But anyway, skin mags and baked goods aside, Castiel got his own plot this week that feels like it's way out of left field. He's been conscripted by Metatron to shut-up the gates of heaven! It's apparently out of control as well, and needs a time out. Three trials does it and Castiel is the angelic-man for the job. First task is to rip out the heart of a nephilim - the offspring of a human and an angel - and there's only one, and she's currently serving lunch! Very convenient. She wasn't a very good fighter, though.

Not only is this new heaven trials plot out of the blue, but the speed at which is goes into action is like lightning. I hope it's not just some tacked on bonus with no real point because, as it goes, I sorta like it. It gives Castiel something to do, keeps Metatron around, and maybe if it works out it'll have some connectiveness to what's going on with the brothers.

With no angels and no demons, what happens on earth? Where does that leave mankind? Where does that leave Cass?

With loads of questions and few answers, and a whole dungeon full of plots left to unravel, next week's finale should be one for the ages!

Final thought... Carver Edlund has so much to answer for...

"The IT Crowd" Extended Special/Series Finale Set To Film! Air-date TBA

The much talked about (here) extended IT Crowd special that will conclude the show (that's right, there's no 5th series planned), is set to film in about three weeks from now (May 7th) according to Bleeding Cool.

Show creator Graham Linehan made the announcement during a Q&A session at Germany's re:publica conference.

According to the report, the finale special will be 40 minutes long and all cast members are on board. The script was penned sometime ago but due to the commitments of the show's stars, it was pushed back - until now! An official air-date has not yet been released.

The IT Crowd stars Chris O'Dowd, Richard Ayoade and Katherine Parkinson (plus the delightful Matt Berry!) as the haphazard IT team of the fictional Reynholm Industries.

BBC Two sets air-date for 'The Fall' starring Gillian Anderson! Watch the trailer!

After push-back after push-back, BBC Two's crime drama The Fall, starring Gillian Anderson has finally been given an air-date.

The five-part drama will premiere in the UK on May 13th at 9pm. Across the pond, Netflix will air the series starting May 28th.

About The Fall:

Set in Northern Ireland, Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson (Anderson) of the Metropolitan Police Service is called in to stop a serial killer terrorizing the city of Belfast in his tracks. But how do you catch a killer hidden in plain sight?

Written by Allan Cubitt, the series also stars Jamie Dornan (Once Upon A Time) and Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife).

Supernatural S08E21 "The Great Escapist" Episode Review

"They're changing me, Dean" ...Sam

I'm a little lost for words so soon after watching tonight's show, there was a whole lot of stuff the chew on and soak up. It's definitely one of the heaviest episodes - in plot/myth - we've had this year, and so it takes a while to sink in. To sum up though, there were basically three situations to sort out: Sam vs. sickness, Castiel vs. Naomi, and Kevin Tran vs. Crowley.

First off we learn quickly what went on with Kevin a few weeks back when he was kidnapped. Crowley snatched him up and put him in a code-busting bubble with impostor Sam and Dean acting as set decoration. But Kevin doesn't buy it, and ultimately Crowley doesn't get the goods. No way would the Winchesters mess up on a secret knock! That's Scooby-doo 101 type stuff! And with burritos in the fridge?

C'mon demons, what are you, stupid or something? Oh wait...

So Kevin is safe and NOT dead like we thought. Not that we really thought he was dead anyway though, since no one dies on Supernatural - ever.

Cass shows up again this week, and oddly hasn't gained any weight from living in every Biggersons in the country. Then again, I guess he's not really got much appetite with that massive rock in his gut! Disgusting... lots of blood. Genius, though!

Anyway, Naomi is a bitch and does some not so nice things to get what she wants. Those poor people, all splattered about the floor, eye-sockets smoking. Can't anyone just enjoy a decent meal anymore? But in the end her power-suited badness isn't enough to win against Crowley, and she zaps back to whatever angelic rock she crawled out from under. How long before she starts wrecking Happy Meals?

While all the angels and demons stuff is going down, Sam is sick. Like super-sick! He's ~~orgasming~~ resonating all over the place he's so sick! Dean's looking after him - great brother stuff this week - but Sam's receiving transmissions from far out, and the brothers eventually have to get out of the ice bath and hit the road to Colorado. And there they find... wait for it ...Metatron!

This guy's a bit of a dweeb, sitting it out reading books, but he's back in the game now and rescues Kevin in the nick of time. He's also got some fun info that we've all been waiting to hear - the deetz on the third trial. And it's a biggie. "Cure a demon"... That sounds like a fun afternoon, doesn't it?

With that knowledge the brothers head out again only to almost hit and run-over Castiel, who's laying in the middle of the road, right in the path of the Impala. I think the SNL Churchlady would say that was pretty "convenient" for the no doubt fantastic season finale coming our way in 2 weeks. Sam, Dean, Castiel and Kevin Tran. I'd call that a winning team for sure. Especially with Sam being all sanitized or purified or whatever. What's that about anyway?

All in "The Great Escapist" is one of the best episodes of the season, jammed packed with everything I happen to love best about this show. Best of all though, is how much time was devoted to Sam. He's been ditched often this year and hasn't really had much to do aside from answer questions about why he didn't search for Dean. Tonight however, he's at the front and it's refreshing and so long overdue. Good knowing that the writers haven't forgotten him.
