This Thursday, January 26, 2012, begins the 4th year of A Memory to Scrap's

Year in Review Album Class!

Taught by Kelli Panique, this double page layout class features a different manufacturer each month of the year and includes different techniques that you can easily incorporate in to your everyday scrapping!

We've increased the class size, which means there is still room for you to come and join us! Plus, if you pay for the entire year's class by Thursday, you will receive a

free album

to house all of your layouts!

Here are the details:

Class Day: The Last Thursday of the Month (Jan. 26th)

Class time: 11am-1pm or 6pm-8pm

Price: $14 (or $168 for the year + a free album)

For Sale but NOT Closing

A Memory to Scrap is still for sale. If you are interested in finding out more information or in making an offer, please contact me.

I have had several people who went to the fair that were told by a vendor that the store was closing. This information is incorrect. The store is not closing!

The answer is definitely not. I will be moving in January. If the store does not sell by that time, I have a team of great people who will be running the store for me.

Basic Grey Monthly Kit

The November/December monthly kit will be ready for pick up by November 1st. Payment needs to be received by that point.

Page Layout Recipes

I have been hearing comments lately of how people are slipping further behind in their scrapbooking. I am one of those people. I have created some page layout recipes to hopefully help people catch up.

This is how it works. Come by the store. The layout is displayed on the counter with a recipe card that contains a picture of the page layout and a list of the ingredients for that page layout. The recipe card is free. If you choose to buy the ingredients listed on the card, you will be given the instructions to create that page plus a free embellishment for the page. A new page will be displayed every week to 2 weeks depending on when the page sells out (the first layout sold out in 4 days).

October we are excited to have Amy from I-Bead back. Anyone can do her patterns even if you have never beaded before. I am working on one of her kits now and love it. She will be returning October 21st, 22nd and 23rd. Scrap Happenings

Life is full of cross roads. When we hit one of those cross roads we have to decide what is best for our family and proceed in that direction. My family has come to one of those cross roads. It is with much excitement but so much sadness I am announcing that my family will be moving to Salvador, Brazil in January, 2012. I am excited for what this transfer holds for my family. At the same time I am so so incredibely sadden to be leaving all of you.

A Memory to Scrap has been an integral part of the scrapbooking community of Broken Arrow for the last 4 years. There is a need for the store in the area. I will be placing the store up for sale. Anyone interested in talking about purchasing the store, please contact me.

Happy Hour

Need an excuse to gather with crafty friends? Want to meet people who share your love from paper crafting? Our Happy Hours are just the place. Once a month on Thursday from 5 to 7 we will be offering a fun project for a minimal cost.

Due to the unique designs of our Happy Hour projects, reservation are not required but are recommended. Payment will be accepted at time of event.

Calligraphy Corner

Our next beginner Copic Marker class will be August 27th. There are still a few spots left Whether you have been using Copic markers for years or are just curious about what they are all about, these classes are for you. The classes are a technique based versus project based. You will be given a brlending pen in the class. We will begin having more advanced/project based class beginning in September.

Stamps go hand in hand with Copic Markers. At CHA I picked up some fun companies for coloring. La La Land Stamps, Heartfelt Creations, and the new Just Rites stamps will be showing up soon.

I am going to be placing an order with Loralei Stamps this week. If you want any of the sassy ladies, please let me know.

On the 24th sale time is 4 to 8pm, 25th sale time from 12 to 8, and on the 26th sale time 10 to 6.

Do you like to bead or have been wanting to start here is a great opportunity for you to get some great deals on your bead supplies. Marge will be bringing a variety of items including: findings, silver findings, art wire, seed beads, Bali Beads, Hill Tribe Silver, gemstone and pearl strands, $1.00 and $2.00 strands, Swarovski crystals in various sizes, fresh water pearls, chain by the foot, tools, and the latest items out on the market. This will be a trunk show you don't want to miss with great sale pricing and variety of merchandise it will be like going to a mini bead show and since we won't have one in our area until November this is a great time to pick up what you need to get you through till then. Creating Keepsakes (CK) Convention Celebration

The Creating Keepsakes Convention will be returning to the Tulsa Rennaissance this August. In coordination with the event we have tons of fun planned.

Limited Edition T-Shirts

In honor of the CK Convention we have created a sassy limited addition T-shirt. During the CK Convention if one of our spies see you wearing this shirt, they will give you a prize. We are selling the T-shirts for $12. (Anyone attending our CK Crop will receive 1 T-shirt free as part of their gift. )

CK Vendor Fair Tickets

We are selling tickets to the CK Vendor Fair again this year. The tickets are good for either Friday or Saturday. The tickets will cost $5.50. The tickets cost $10 if you buy them at the CK convention

Gift Certificate Give Away

Would you like to win a $25 gift certificate to our store? It's easy. Just stop by the store any time between August 1st and August 17th and pick up some A Memory to Scrap Business cards. Write your name and contact information on the back of the cards. During the CK Convention hand them out to people you meet on the vendor floor, in classes, or anywhere else you meet fellow scrapbookers. If that person brings that card into the store, that card goes into a special drawing for you to win a $25 gift certificate. The person who brought the card in will get to draw a treat from our picnic basket.

Welcome to Tulsa Make & Take Night

Tulsa State Fair

Do you think you have what it takes to win a blue ribbon? I bet you do. The Tulsa State Fair has the below categories. The cost to enter is $4. The grand prize is $25, a blue ribbon, and bragging rights. Deadline is August 26th.

It's that time of year. Time to clear out the store for the new things I will be buying at market. As they say where I am from in Mississippi, this sale will be a barn burner. Almost everything in the store will be on sale. Items that I have NEVER been placed on sale will be marked down. This event is NOT to be missed.

The Bead Corner

Memory Bracelet Class will be held on 7-17-2011 from 2-5pm cost is $20.00 including kit

Beginner beaders are welcome as you dont need to know how to bead to take this class. you will learn a few basics such as how to work with chain, jumprings and how to wrap a head pin. You will also be working with Tim Holtz memory frames and bubbles.

This bracelet is designed to change out the memory frame as desired with the holidays or your favorite pics without having to make a new base bracelet each time.
Please bring your paper scissors and jewelry tools if you have them but we will have some for you to use at the store. Also if you have a favorite pic that is 1 inch or favorite paper you want to use please bring it as well.

Demo Day THIS Saturday

Janea will be teaching how to make a printers block out of grungeboard. This demo is full of fun tips. You will use paint dabbers, distress ink and tool, sanding, and glossy accents. If any of this is new to you or you are interested in grunge, come my and make a block.

CK Convention Celebration

The Creating Keepsakes Convention will be returning to Tulsa. In coordination with the event A Memory to Scrap will be hosting a 3 day crop. The cost of the crop is $50.

Sign up for the crop will begin June 15th at noon. You may sign up in person, phone or via e-mail. You may sign up yourself and 3 other people. Payment is due within 24 hours of sign-up. We will not be able to hold any spots without payment.

Sherry from Busy Beadz will be at the store June 12th teaching the beautiful Arabella Bracelet from 12 to 5pm

The store is now open for free beading and cropping on Sundays from 12pm to 5pm (unless a holiday, 3 day crop or special event)

We will have a bead trunk show coming through in a few months so stay tuned for more details on that. Also we will have some great upcoming classes for all levels of beaders.

Attendees will be able to try the skill as many times as needed until they feel comfortable with it.

Spring Garage Sale

Our spring Garage sale will be Saturday, April 16th from 10 to 3. We have 31 people selling some really awesome items including cricut items, paper pads, and much more.

Beginning at 9 am, we will give out tickets to the people standing in line outside the store. We give out tickets for 2 reasons. 1) Once you get a ticket you don't have to stand in line any more. Just be back a few minutes before 10 to get back in line. 2) For crowd control. We let the first 10 tickets in at 10, then next at 10:03, then 10:06, etc. I suggest that shoppers bring a bag or some item to put your treasures in while shopping.

Happy Hour

Need an excuse to gather with crafty friends? Want to meet people who share your love from paper crafting? Our Happy Hours are just the place. Once a month on Thursday from 5 to 7 we will be offering a fun project for a minimal cost. Due to the unique designs of our Happy Hour projects, reservation are not required but are recommended. Payment will be accepted at time of event.

April 14th - Create Sentimental candles using a transfer technique. Cost is $5.

National Scrapbooking Day Celebration

To celebrate National Scrapbooking Day A Memory to Scrap will host our fourth annual Broken Arrow Neighbors Charity Celebration. I call it a celebration, because there are just too many different things going on to help raise money, donations, and awareness for Broken Arrow Neighbors to name it anything else.

Beginning April 1st and through the whole month we will be collecting non perishable food items for Broken Arrow Neighbors. Every time you bring in a donation, you will receive a ticket for our prize drawings.(Limit 1 ticket per person per day for donations)

We are also hosting some fun contests. The theme this year is spring flowers. There are several categories you can enter your creations:

1) Best use of flowers on a scrapbook page

2) Best use/creation of flowers in an altered item

3) Best created 3D flower

4) Best picture of a flower

5) Best flower card

Items for judging need to be dropped off by Saturday April 23rd at 6 pm. The winner of each category will receive a gift certificate to the store. Judging will be done by customers between April 27th and 4 pm on April 30th. The winners will be announced at 7 pm on April 30th.

Did I mention the prizes? A Memory to Scrap has some amazing manufacturers that donate just awesome prizes every year. This year is no exception. There will be several awesome prizes, a few huge prizes, and the grand prize which includes the Bo Bunny limited addition leather purse filled with just released papers. There are different ways to get chances to win the prizes: 1) bring in donations during the month of April, 2) everyone gets 1 ticket if you stop by the store between April 27th and April 30th 3) Buying a ticket for $1 (100% of the tickets sales goes to Broken Arrow Neighbors)

Spring 2011 Green Country Scrapbook Run

Mark your calendars. The 2011 Spring Scrapbook Run will be April 29th through May 7th. This year 8 stores will be participating in the run. At each store the participates can create an awesome card. The grand prizes are more, bigger, and better than last run. Plan to participate and enjoy the fun.

The purpose in the Scrapbook Run is to allow paper crafters the opportunity to visit all the 8 stores in the area. The first store visited will give the runners a passport. Get the passport stamped at each store. When the passport is filled, the participants will be given a raffle ticket for the several grand prizes.

Another way to earn chances to win the grand prizes is to complete the project. The project consists of 8 cards. Each store will give the participants the supplies needed to create a card. By showing a store the completed 8 card, the participants will earn a ticket.

Finally a participant will be given an extra ticket at any store that they spend at least $25. In total a participant can earn 10 tickets for the grand prize drawings.

At A Memory to Scrap will will be doing out own drawings for some awesome prizes. Make sure you sign up at the store for our in house drawing.

Also if you spend $40 at A Memory to Scrap, you will get to draw a jeweled egg. Inside the eggs are great prizes like free classes, free crops, gift certificates, goodies bags, and much more. Every egg will be a winner.

Extended Store Hours

Now that the store has more space, I figured you would need to more time to shop and crop. Beginning March 13th, the store will be open each Sunday from noon to 5 pm for your shopping, cropping and beading enjoyment. You may Bead or Crop for free on Sunday during this time frame except for the 1st weekend of the month or a special crop event. The store also has free cropping and beading on Weds from 10-5 and on Thurs 10-6.

The Bead Corner

The bead has been restocked and added to. There is now additional types of chain by the foot, and I have brought in some more summer fun dangles for your projects.

We now have in about everything that Tim Holtz has to offer with the arrival of the new releases from winter CHA and the restocking of old favorites. As usual they won't be around long, so don't miss out.

Everyone can sign up for only one table. I will quit taking sign ups on April 8th. After the 8th if there are any tables that have not been reserved, I will allow people to buy a second table. Upon payment you will receive your consignor number. Everyone will be getting a new consignor number.

Basic Grey Page Kits

Basic Grey offers a wonderful monthly page kit. Each month's kit is based on a new line of Basic Grey paper and includes the paper as well as a different fun embellishments. It is basically designed as a class in a bag.

We have had many request to sell these kits in our store. Beginning with the March kit, we have 2 kits still available. If you would like to make sure you get a kit each month, just sign up. The cost of the kit is $18 per month paid in 2 month increments.

The March/April kits will be ready for pick up on the 2nd. If you name is on the list, you have until March 15th to contact me. After that date, your kit will be available for sale. May/June Kits need to be paid for by May 1st.

Over the last 3 years I have watched my customers' hobby of traditional "scrapbooking" with paper and flat embellishments grow. The projects that they have been creating such as altered books, memory purses, shadow boxes, heritage bracelets, canvases, center pieces, scrapbook quilts, the list goes on and on is truly amazing. I have also been listening to all of your requests for items that are not flat to encompass into these projects.

With the expansion of the store I was able to create an area I hope all of you 3D scrapbookers will find very helpful. Just to give it a name, I am calling it The Bead Corner, but it contains so much more. This little area is packed with trinkets, crystals, metal pieces, 3D flowers, stone shapes all sold by the piece and chain sold by the foot.

I know I can not carry all that you have asked for, but I hope I have done justice to covering the big ones. Keep checking in at The Bead Corner, you just might find that perfect little piece to finish your project. Please keep bringing in your projects. A week never goes by where I am not humbled by creativity of one of my customers.

Have you been to the store lately? If you haven't then you need to drop by soon. We have expanded the store and we have alot more fun space for products, cropping and beading fun. I know this may sound a little strange hearing about beading at a scrapbook store but with all the new trends coming out the scrapbook and beading industry are combining so we have created a beading corner at the store featuring various types of beads, memory jewelry, pendants, chain and so much more to come. Along with the store being open for free cropping on Weds and Thurs during business hours we will now be offering free open beading as well and starting on Sunday March 13th we will be open for store sales and free open beading from 12-5. Are you as tired of snow as I am? I am ready for life to get back to its usual routine. While being stuck at home I have been coming up with some fun ideas for the store for the next several months. Monthly Kits

As I stated in first newsletter of 2001, this year will be full of changes that I hope will improve my ability to serve my customers. One thing that I noticed at Winter CHA is that many manufacturers have started creating monthly kits that are as good as the ones that I have been offering for the past 5 years. After much contemplation, I have decided to end my monthly kit program with February, 2011 Kit.

I know that many of my clients love the ease of putting together kits. In my kit's place I will be offering kits designed by Basic Grey, Little Yellow Bicycle, Bo Bunny, and Fancy Pants. I feel these companies offer a fun kit that you will be pleased with. Basic Grey produces a kit every month. The other 3 companies produce a kit with every paper release. You can sign up for any of the companies. I will also have the these kits available for sale on a one time basis in the store if there are kits left after the pre-orders.

Demo Days and Happy Hour

Even though many of you are experienced scrapbooks, I am intrigued how often I hear comments like "I just never learned to stamp" or I am bow tieing challenged." Or you are beginner scrapbooker and just want opportunity to learn the basics. One of my goals in 2011 is to help my clients become better crafters.

Demo Days will be 2 Saturdays a month from 2 to 4. They will be a come and go type event and they are free. The demo will feature a technique that one of my teachers feel people need help with. You will have the opportunity to get one on one help from an expert on something that gives you trouble or you always wanted to learn.

Happy Hour will be the 2nd Thursday of every month from 5 to 7. They are designed as come and go projects that will provide an opportunity to learn something while gathering with friends. The Happy Hour projects will have a cost of $5 or less and will be available as long as supplies last. You can call ahead and reserve a kit to make sure to get one. The teachers have already come up with some great projects that I know you will love.

I just returned from CHA in Los Angeles. This is the market where I buy all the goodies for the store for the next 6 months. I saw and bought many great paper lines. I also learned some fun techniques. I can't wait to show them all off to you.

January 27th I will be making my annual trip to California to CHA (Craft and Hobby Association). This is the market where I will will buy all the goodies for the store for the next 6 months. Year in Review Class 2011

For the third year Kelli will be teaching the Year in Review Class. The class will meet the fourth Thursday of each month at 11 am or 6 pm. In each class you will create a double page layout using paper from a different manufacturer each month. By the end of the year you will have created 24 pages total and learned dozens of new techniques.

The cost of the class is $12 per class. If you pay for the whole year by January 15th you will receive a 12 x 12 album free to hold the pages you create. There are only a 5 spaces left.

Crop Sign Up Policy

Reservations for crops will be made via e-mail to Ashley@amemorytoscrap.com . You can only reserve spots for yourself and 3 other people. Your e-mail should include the names of all the people you are reserving for. Your e-mail also needs to include a phone number where you can be reached. Finally your e-mail should say whether you are coming in the store to pay for the crops or would you like to pay by credit card. I will e- mail you back to let you know that you got in the crop.

November 4th - 11 am and 6 pm $20- Abby has created a very classy Christmas accordian album. It is a perfect gift. Once you learn the technique, you can recreate it for any occasion. Come by and see the demo. An Additional supply list is available at the store

November 10th - 11 am & 6 pm $20 - Kelli has created a precious Give Thanks Quotes Album. The chipboard album is full of inspiring quotes and wonderful places to preserve precious pictures. Come by and see the sample and get signed up.

November 14th - Sunday at 2 pm $20- Jannea had created a very pretty double page layout using Making Memories' brand new line, Noir. The pages are classy with a hint of fun. This class is good for the beginner, but will have enough technique to keep the advance scrapbooker intrigued.
