Lowes Gift-A-Thon Promising 90% Off December 17-19 2010

2010-12-08T02:20:00.000-06:00

For all of you savvy shoppers out there this deal is not to be missed. "Like" Lowe's on Facebook now because December 17-19 2010 they are throwing a Gift-A-Thon which means... they are giving out codes for 90% off of items.

Lowe's threw a similar promotion during the week leading up to Black Friday. Although I wasn't one of those lucky enough to score 90% off of some of the AMAZING and EXPENSIVE items Lowes offered. They were nice enough to email me a printable coupon for $10 off a $10 purchase printable coupon which scored me the 4 sqft of potting soil I've been needing for a mere .47 cents tax included. So I'd encourage anyone who wants anything from Lowes to show some interest in the event. It will be well worth your time.

Philosophy Amazing Grace Perfume 4oz Bottle + Lip Gloss $48.88 Shipped & Instant Win Game

2010-11-21T00:28:00.000-06:00

I love Philosophy's Amazing Grace Perfume. I'm always trying to find it at the lowest possible price. So far over the last 3 years of buying this product the lowest price is ALWAYS at Skinstore.com. In fact, skinstore.com offers 115% low price guarantee, so that if you find a lower price product+shipping+tax than they will refund you 115% of the difference.

Trust me, you can look, but you probably won't find a lower price. This is the scenario I used to get my low price:

1) Logged into Ebates.com (for 6% cash back) and typed in skinstore.com, then click on the skinstore.com link.
2) Once at Skinstore.com website found Amazing Grace 4oz and added to basket, $55.
3) Added CYBER20 (20% off promo code) product reduced to $44.
4) Since free shipping starts @ $49 so I added the least expensive item to my cart, which in my case was Korres Lip Butter- Jasmine $10. Total after promo $52 shipped - $3.12 (ebates cash back) Total: $48.88

BTW, Philosophy.com is running an instant win game for $1000 eGift cards. Click here to win...

Good Luck,

Jen

Box Tops for Education Sweeten Your Holiday Sweepstakes

2010-11-10T21:04:00.000-06:00

According to their website, Box Tops for Education donated 49 million dollars to schools last year.

How much of it went to your child's school? Find out here.

Do you, your family and friends save Box Tops?

You really should.

Each individual Box Top is worth 10cents to the school. Over the year I collected about $20 worth of box tops just from items my family purchased. If every child in my sons school had a family who took the time to clip box tops at $20 per year, the school would raise $10,700!

The great news is that Box Tops is offering several Box Tops Sweepstakes on their website. The latest is Sweeten Your Holiday Sweepstakes not only can you win 5000 Box Tops for your school, you get a gift basket too!

Don't forget to visit the Box Tops Coupon page for extra savings on products that sponsor the Box Tops Program.

Good Luck

The Waiting Game: A Violation Of The Hippocratic Oath

2010-11-10T17:11:00.000-06:00

Doctor's offices can be mind numbing; the white walls, the outdated magazines, the sometimes less than inviting chairs, and of course, most tedious of all, the WAITING, in the "waiting room," and then the WAITING again in the closet sized exam rooms (not big enough to fit a double stroller & a rolling walker).

Now imagine yourself in the doctor's office ~~sitting with~~ chasing, twin 18 month old girls, and 1 moderately senile, but cute, 86 year old woman.

If you can imagine that you have just witnessed my own special hell.

Today's doctor visit started out innocently enough. I was in a good mood despite the inevitable and exhausting workout routine of lifting, chasing, tickling, chastising, feeding and generally doing whatever is humanly possible in order to keep the girls from completely DESTROYING the waiting room. But what was innocent became torturous.

Here's the timeline:

Appointment time: 1:30pm

Arrival time: 1:40 only 10 minutes late, my posse rolls! No really (refer to closet sized exam room problem noted above)

1:41 pm Waiting begins aka Race to asylum level mental health

Tick, Tick Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock.....No Gracie No Gloria No Gracie No Gloria Grandma its alright .....No Gracie No Gloria No Gracie No Gloria Grandma its alright .....No Gracie No Gloria No Gracie No Gloria Grandma its alright
.....No Gracie No Gloria No Gracie No Gloria Grandma its alright

50 minutes have passed since our arrival

2:30pm Practitioner comes into the room

2:31 Gracie falls face first off a chair & begins screaming at the top of her lungs

2:32 Practitioner attempts to obtain information from Grandma. Gracie is still screaming. Grandma totally misinforms practitioner, Gracie Still Screaming

2:34 Practitioner leaves room

2:31-2:50 Two screaming inconsolable babies.

2:51 Both babies finally fall asleep

1 HOUR 17 MINUTES HAVE PASSED

2:57 Doctor comes into room

3:02 Doctor leaves room

In total 1 hour 22 minutes passed since our arrival. We saw the doctor for 5 of those minutes. My girls cried LOUDLY for at least 20 minutes straight while I did everything but stand on my head to quiet them.

WHY? WHY did they make my little posse wait so long? They could hear our struggle. It's horrendous enough that anyone should have to wait that long for a 5 minute face-to-face. Does my posse deserve special more expedient treatment?

You damn right! After all, we roll!

Doctors out there please use some common sense when serving your patients and don't make overburdened caregivers wait so long it violates the central tenant of the Hippocratic Oath, "first do no harm."

If I seem a little "off" today you can thank Dr. Powers.
