I finally did solve it, but in the process I ended up creating a new feed. For those who are technically minded -- this blog is powered by Blogger, which uses an ATOM feed. Feedburner can create an rss feed from that, so that you can read it in just about any Reader.

The last time that I added something, I managed to fix this original feed but I have now added a couple more things (I gave each part of the Pesach to Pascha podcast its own blog entry, and I added Part II of the Paschal Liturgy celebrated by Fr. Brendan in Nacogdoches on 3 May). iTunes, which is what I use, doesn't seem to like this old feed now. I have tried repeatedly to enter it, and it says it is not a valid feed URL. I was reluctant to ask you to subscribe again, but the time has come. I want to submit our podcast to iTunes, and I want to make sure there are no errors before I do that.

In addition, the new version is much easier for me to update. I had been using Podcast Station, but it is not creating an .xml file that can be validated. I am better off using the Atom feed that comes from Blogger, and letting Feedburner make it universally available.

So, PLEASE, all of you subscribe to

http://feeds.feedburner.com/AMind-changingWayPodcast

The difference is the addition of the word Podcast at the end. This should give you a good feed. You can subscribe through whatever reader you use. Feedburner offers an email option as well that is pretty cool. Thanks very much for doing this. These podcasts that are so full of Fr. Brendan's teachings are really worthwhile.

prayer@webnac.com (Fr. It took *forever*. In this version, I uploaded it to YouTube. It did not seem to take quite a long, but perhaps that is because I was baking cookies.

This file is 65mb and lasts only 55 SECONDS! There must be a better way to do video -- but I guess this is why most videos are so short. I do not understand why it turned blue half-way through -- could it have been the incense??

Also -- I have no idea what he was doing with the candles. A Two-Part Podcast on Pascha!

We like to try to get our podcasts recorded on a regular basis, but these last few months have been difficult. Fr. Brendan was sick for several weeks, and by that time, Great Lent was upon us and his time was in very short supply.

These new episodes are well worth waiting for, though! There have been many excellent podcasts on Pascha -- from Fr. Joseph's inimitable 'Orthodixie' to Fr. Thomas' marvelous 'Speaking the Truth in Love' -- but nothing like this two-part series "From Pesach to Pascha"!

It would be interesting and informative from a strictly historical perspective, but with Fr. Brendan, it is never just that. It is historical, but also prophetic and symbolic and deeply spiritual! I think an alternative name for this entire Mind-Changing Way podcast could be "Rich and Deep" because that's what each of its episodes has been! Thank you, Fr. Brendan! for giving so generously of your knowledge, personal experience and spirituality. Brendan talks about the book he is writing about his Spiritual Father, Fr. Roland and in that context, he shows us how Fr. Roland is a contemporary example of a geronda in Greek or a staretz in Russia or an abba in the Middle East, and how the way he lives and the way he teaches are so utterly integrated, as they have always been in those who are genuine spiritual elders in the Church. The Way of Teaching of the Elders has great implications for the renewal of true Orthodox teaching in our seminaries. Inspired by Fr. Roland, Fr. Brendan has come to believe that all those who desire to become pastors or theologians should have the opportunity to learn by living, watching and doing under the direction of a spiritual elder. One of many memorable quotes: "It doesn't take a lot of heavy theology to give someone a cup of cold water". In this episode, Fr. Brendan also addresses the issue of "Call no man father".

Here is the Feedburner link:

A Mind-Changing Way Podcast

and a direct link to the audio file:

The Teaching Way of the Elders Audio file

prayer@webnac.com (Fr. Brendan is recovered from his Christmas and post-Christmas illness -- thanks to everyone for their prayers. He is back with us. We celebrated the Divine Liturgy on Saturday which was the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple, sometimes also called The Meeting. We also had the Blessings of the Waters.

On Saturday afternoon, Fr. Brendan and Pam recorded a new podcast episode, which will be posted later this week -- watch for it! The topic is "The Teaching Way of the Spiritual Elders". You will not want to miss it!

prayer@webnac.com (Fr. Brendan has often said that the congregation notices little difference between the two major Orthodox liturgies: St John Chrysostom and St. Basil -- except that the latter is longer. In this Podcast, Pam pushed him to go deeper -- and what a treat lies in store for the listener! Here you will find a deeply spiritual discussion of the Liturgy of St. Basil with many beautiful examples. Included is a wonderful discussion of the "counterpoint" between the chanter/choir and the priest, pointing to the incessant worship of God and intercession for humankind that is going on in Heaven -- which we "taste" in the Divine Liturgy. The Liturgy of St Basil so profoundly prays and describes our entire salvation history that Fr. Brendan says it "makes your hair stand on end" (with awe). Again, listen several times, in prayer.

The Nativity Part II: Liturgy of St. Basil -- Audio mp3 file

Text of the Liturgy of St. Basil

prayer@webnac.com (Fr. Brendan Pelphrey's Testimony Part II: Coming to Commitment

In Part II of his testimony, Fr. Brendan and his family have returned to the United States. He describes his friendship with an Orthodox priest, and how that priest helped him come to terms with his questions and concerns and especially his very American tendency to "pick and choose", enjoying Orthodox liturgy and spiritiuality while remaining On the Fringe. After eight years of discussion and prayer, he chose to make a commitment of his whole self to Orthodoxy and was chrismated. In this episode, Fr. Brendan also describes his work as founder/editor of Areopagus, an international magazine on Mission. Through this work, he came to realize that the Orthodox understanding of Mission and Evangelism is one of the many ways in which the Orthodox mind-set is radically different from that of Evangelical Protestantism.

Audio mp3 File

prayer@webnac.com (Fr.
