/>

如果您是一位颇有电脑技术专业人士，您可以在家工作，通过电话，网络为全国各地的用户提供技术支持，ComputerAssistant.com,GeeksOnTime.com,PlumChoice,SupportFreaks.comGO公司都可以利用。
诸如elance.com，sologig.com，guru.com，craigslist.com，clicknwork.com，ether.com的网站，都有成千上万个机会，有些网站允许您贴上您的个人简历和技能与可以提供的服务。
Associatedcontent.com网站每发表一篇文章支付10美元，Helium.com网站也为撰稿人提供稿费。 Writefind.com列举了一系列为自由职业着提供机会。
如果您在Google.com网站，通过关键字“virtual assistant”搜索，结果出现独立和约商，你可以试一下“virtualassistantjobs.com”和“teamdoubleclick.com”。
A New Reason to Pinch Your Pennies

Up until early this morning, pennies really bothered me. Smug in their copper brownness, the tiny coins are virtually worth nothing. With the exception of a few general stores left in small-town America where you can still buy penny candy, you can't purchase anything for a single cent. Nowadays a penny will buy you nothing, zip, zilch, nada. We're talking goose egg here.

How to Pinch Your Poultry Pennies

Shopping the sales, but still need to take the grocery budget to the next level? Figured out that poultry is cheap, but want it to be even cheaper? I've got your back. Following are several penny pinching poultry strategies, including how to feed four to six people from a single chicken breast.
Poultry is a penny pincher's dream. It's also yummy, widely popular and readily available throughout the world. It's also incredibly versatile. Here are some of the ways I put to work in our house.

Chop and dice.
I do this with boneless, skinless chicken and routinely am able to come up with 4-6 servings from a single breast. Some of the ways I stretch it? Stir fry over rice, lo mein, fajitas (you need thin strips for that one), chicken pot pie, tacos, chicken – pesto pizza, southwestern soup, etc. The more thoroughly you dice, the further it will stretch. Notice I didn't say “cube” the chicken. It's all about flavor and a more balanced intake of protein.

Search out some discount meat sources.
With as often as the ten pound bags of leg quarters, split bone-in breasts and full roasters go on sale, this is more of an issue when it comes to the boneless and skinless breasts, tenders and thighs. I have noticed at one of the warehouse stores we have a membership to consistently carries these for as low as the regular grocery chains have been selling the bone in varieties for. If you stretch the servings in ways that don't require an entire breast per person, you can still save some money (and stress) this way.

Creatively extend your rotisserie purchases.
The best deal I've seen on these is also at the warehouse stores. Sam's sells the fully cooked rotisserie birds for only fifty cents more than the raw roasters cost, at least at the few I've checked. If you've had a full day shopping, and that extra fifty cents will save you oven energy (not to mention skipping a take out meal), I say go for it. We've already discussed this as a way to save some sanity on days we are out and about. A pot of basmati rice and a three minute sauté of some skinny French green beans in olive oil and garlic and we've got a nice sit down dinner for less aggravation than standing in line at Boston Market. As much as I like to try new things, a simple, traditional roast chicken dinner is still one of my all time faves. Plus you can get an extra meal the next day, for example sliced chicken salad or chicken and cheese quesadillas. We also go the extra mile and make our own stock, but I'll get to that in a bit.

Stretch it out with another filler.
The two that come most quickly to mind are TVP and refried beans. Think chicken and bean burritos or a TVP – chicken combo in such recipes as chicken and dumplings. You can also stretch the meat further by using several of the strategies listed in the chicken leg quarters link above, or consider chicken veggie kabobs as a fun grilling option.

Go for the stock options.
Whenever we finish a roast chicken dinner or have de-boned chicken leg quarters in abundance, we use the bones that nobody has eaten off of and simmer them with some leftover celery ends, onion bits and a touch of sage. Then we strain out the the bone bits and let the liquid cool, which lets the fat rise to the top for easy skimming. As a hack, we ladle most of the liquid into freezable ice cube trays for later use and save enough for soup that night, since we have already got the base in the slow cooker. If doing all that (particularly on an exhausting rotisserie option day) is too much in one setting, we often start a large bag or empty container of the leg bones and body cavities for the freezer. On a day when I have the time, I do it. It really takes the pressure off that way.

Regular and seasonal sales.
In addition to all of the chicken sales, it really helps to keep an eye out for seasonal markdowns on a bird many people will be shopping for this month, turkey. Any time now, it will seriously start going for a song. It also drops in price occasionally during the summer. Stock up for the freezer and always be prepared to feed a large crowd on the cheap. While the oil free, infrared turkey fryers are more than a little cha-ching, we are keeping our eyes peeled for sales. Why? Because we see this as an opportunity to use turkey as a crowd pleaser during a time of the year many people wouldn't consider doing so: summer. If my house doesn't have to heat up with an oven or large counter roaster (my answer to not being able to dish out for a double wall oven yet in my adult life), I'm more than happy to whip up the traditional picnic sides and have people over for a back yard gathering.

Explore the world of bone-in breast.
For many folks I know, this is just unheard of. But if you are a real heavy-on-the-meat, lots of potatoes on the side person, this is a way to enjoy it while spending less.

Creative cutting.
While I have de-boned breast meat before, it is not my idea of a good time. And I know some people go the extra mile and cut up and de-bone entire fryers to save a buck. While I certainly would if I had to, I'd rather not. A couple of things I wouldn't mind incorporating? Cutting leg quarters into thighs and legs. This would allow for a light breading and oven frying of the drumsticks, which are almost always kid pleasers. It would also separate the thighs for other recipes. All with one single cut per quarter. Not too much stress and no de-boning required. Also, the butterfly technique looks like something I wouldn't mind doing from time to time, and it makes for a way shorter cooking time in the oven. Other cool ideas for butterfly-cut chicken are cutting into halves to roast separately, or tossing them on the grill for an affordable way to enjoy non-boneless chicken in the summer. The whole chickens tend to go on sale quite a bit and while the price is similar to what thighs go for, you actually end up with some lower fat breast meat out of the deal.

How to Pinch Your Pennies in a Tight Economy

With the economy being at the top of everyone’s mind, I thought it might be useful to share some penny-pinching tips that you can apply and maybe free up some spending money for the holiday season. I’m sure that my list isn’t complete, so I welcome others to add their 2 cents with other cost-saving ideas.

1. GREAT FOOD FOR ALL. You can get a large amount of food for $30. The December menu is: 32 oz. sirloin steak, 4 lb. chicken, 12 oz. shrimp, 1 lb. thin sliced ham, 15 slices fully cooked Hormel bacon, 1.5 lb. fully cooked meatballs, 3 lb. frozen vegetables, 5 lb. potato wedges, 1 lb. margarine, 12 ct. rolls or biscuits, 32 oz. whole grain rolled oats.

2. Great clothes can be found at the Goodwill Stores in Sandusky and Huron, the Salvation Army Store in Sandusky Plaza, the Thrift Shop on Market Street in Sandusky and the one inside the Erie County Senior Center. When I say there are some great “finds,” I know. I shop there. There are two consignment shops you should check out, Labels on W. Perkins Avenue -- I shop there too -- and there is a consignment shop in Vermilion. I am told they have great clothes there, as well.

3. Homestead Tax Exemption. If you are permanently and totally disabled or age 65 or older, save on your real estate taxes by applying for the Homestead Tax Exemption. You will receive a reduction on your tax bill.

4. If you are on Medicare and your gross annual income is $15,600/year for a single person or $21,000 for a married couple and your assets (this does NOT mean your house, one car, your jewelry, furniture, etc.) are less than $11,990 for a single person or $23,970 for a married couple, you qualify for “Extra Help.” This is a great benefit, and you shouldn’t pass it up. Erie County residents age 60 and older should call Serving Our Seniors office if they would like assistance applying for “Extra Help.”

5. If you heat with natural gas, shop around for the best price. If you buy your natural gas from Columbia Gas, it is selling for $1.19 per ccf. This price varies from month-to-month. If you live inside the city limits of Sandusky, you can buy if from Direct Energy for a fixed price $1.03 per ccf ($1.02 per ccf if you are age 65+). Thank you City of Sandusky! If you live outside of Sandusky, there are still good buys if you want a fixed rate (a price that doesn’t vary month-to-month during the heating season).

6. If your gross annual income if 175% of the Federal Poverty Guideline or less ($18,200 for a household of one; $24,500 for a household of two; $30,800 for a household of three, space limits me from sharing the full list, but you get the drift) you should apply for HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program). Those who qualify will get a credit on their heating bill to help defray the cost of heating their home.

7. Many generic prescription medications are available for $4/script at most chain stores. Tell your doctor to prescribe the generic over the name brand. If you have no prescription insurance there’s the DRUG REPOSITORY at Buderer Drug Store, 433 Hancock St., Sandusky. For $7.40/script you can get up to a 90-day supply of a generic medication if they have a large supply in stock. You can get a 30-day supply of a name brand drug (if they have it in stock) for $7.40/script. These are unexpired medicines in tamper-proof packaging donated by institutional pharmacies to the DRUG REPOSITORY to help people who are without prescription insurance.

8. If you are age 60+, you can get a great meal for $2.50 at the Erie County Senior Center, 620 E. Water St., Sandusky.

9. If you have a low income, you should know about the weatherization program administered by WSOS out of Greensprings. Although the office isn’t in Erie County, they do serve Erie County. This program will inspect your home and implement a plan for improving its efficiency by insulating your home free of charge. Call 419-639-2802 for more information.

10. If you have a computer that you leave on throughout the day, turn it on only when you are using it. Computers use more electricity than you think. Don’t just take my word for it, try it.

11. If you use a credit card, consider doing most or all of your spending on a credit card, and set your money aside so you can pay it off at the end of the month. Use a card that pays you back some type of cash benefit. I use a Mastercard and pay it off each month, but every few months they send me a gift card for $25 worth of gasoline.

iPhone Tips: Managing Your iPhone Contacts

Many smart phone users end up having more contacts then they even know what to do with. The ability to jump between sections by selecting their alphabetical position helps this, but if you have seventy-five J names the entire process can get complicated. This is one of the reasons that managing the contacts in your iPhone can be one of the most important parts of customization.
You can end up separating your most used contacts for different purposes using the Favorites function. Just go ahead and begin going through your phone and begin finding the numbers you call the most. The best way to do this is by going through your recent calls and finding the most often occurring numbers. Then go to the Favorites menu and select the “add contact” option by pressing the “+” button in the upper right hand corner. Once you do you will be given your contact menu and you can go through and select one of these numbers to add to the Favorites list. Remember, manage the favorites list and do not allow it to get too long. When going through your contact list you need to know how to scroll through quickly. You can do the normal action of scrolling by moving the list up or down like a Rolodex. Another standard way is to select the letter of the alphabet that the target contact begins with. A third and lesser used way is to scroll through these contacts much faster. Press and hold down on a letter on the right hand list and then slide your finger up and down. This allows you to scroll quickly between alphabetic positions, but just puts you at the beginning of each letter list.

Try to complete each contact to limit the total number. This means adding the business, home, and cell numbers along with email addresses to each contact that you can. This will make each contact more complete and will let you end up having less. Try doing all this by syncing them with your online email accounts and your iTunes information. This can be done when syncing your calendar and other technical considerations. IF you already use Outlook then this is going to help ease the process along even more so.

You can even use applications like Google Mobile to search through your applications. The application can give you a search box just like the one you would use to search online, except it can be applied to your contacts. This can be useful for those who use Google from their iPhone constantly, but otherwise you can just try and go through it manually. It also will only go through contacts and not other parts of your phone personalization, like email or calendar.

Source: http://www.touchtip.com/

New iPhone App Boosts to Save the Music CD

Regardless of your position on the economic stimulus plan, the war in Iraq, or the breed of the White House dog, some good decisions are actually made by the Presidents of the United States of America. We’re not talking about Bush or Obama here, no, we’re talking about PUSA, that music band from the ’90’s with such memorable hits as Lump and Peaches. So what’s a two-hit wonder like PUSA have to do with making good decisions a decade after their day in the sun? Hint: it has to do with visionary marketing that takes advantage of the iPhone platform to reinvigorate fan interest, and maybe even reinvent the the music industry. Find out why we think the new iPhone app from the Presidents of the United States of America is so special, and why the RIAA should sit up and take notice.

CD Sales - Outlook is Dismal
It’s no surprise that music sales continue to plummet as the RIAA struggles to leverage burgeoning internet technologies to distribute music to consumers. Let’s face it, the RIAA has no one to blame but themselves. They were late to the internet party, and when they finally did show up they were brandishing lawyers instead of trying make friends. It cost the music industry tens of millions to take down Napster, and seemingly, all for naught. P2P networks continue to flourish and the á la carte commerce model of iTunes has all but destroyed CD sales. Yet, CDs continue to stock the shelves of local music haunts and big retailers alike, which means the music industry really hasn’t changed as much as we had expected, at least not by now. It’s been ten years since the fall of Napster. Where is this new music business model that will turn the industry upside down?
In the last few years we have seen some new internet music business models that have shown some promise. iTunes is, of course, one major success story. The remaining contenders in this space are, as Simon Cowell would say, forgettable. Last year we watched Lala reinvent itself with an awesome music service that could threaten iTunes, but has yet to gain traction in the marketplace. Then of course, there’s the iPhone darling app, Pandora, which has a tremendous user base but really only serves to drive more sales out of iTunes. Instead of creating a new business model, Pandora has built upon the existing success of iTunes.

With the invention of digital music, and subsequently iTunes, two major shifts occurred. One, CD sales slumped because there is little reason for consumers to buy CDs instead of downloading the music and burning their own discs. The music industry has not yet figured out a way to add value to CDs in a way that is attractive to consumers. Then along came iTunes which offered an á la carte music menu to consumers to buy a song-at-a-time. This may seem like a win-win for everyone, except that it came with an unexpected side effect for the artists. Since most consumers will only buy the singles that they hear on the radio, they don’t have an opportunity to discover other songs in the artist’s repertoire, and in the end, the artists suffer.
CD Stimulus Plan from the Presidents?

Now, along comes the iPhone app from an almost forgotten band of the 90’s which could potentially pave the way for adding value to CDs while giving consumers more access to a band’s entire catalog of music. How? The iPhone app from the Presidents of the United States of America offers users unlimited access to all of the band’s music. It’s like paying $1.99 for an entire box set of albums. There are a couple of catches, though. You can’t listen to any song of your choice, instead you have to listen to a random song from the band. Also, the music streams which means you have to be connected to the network in order to listen to the music. That said, this app could be the prototype of a new marketing vehicle for bands while giving the music industry a new way to add value to CDs that sit on the shelves.

Imagine buying a CD from an artist that comes with a code to unlock an iPhone app which gives you unlimited streaming access to the entire collection of music from that artist. It’s great for the artist because the fan gets exposed to music outside of the radio spectrum. It’s great for the fans because they get more value than just the songs included on the CD. It’s also great for the music labels because it will encourage more music sales. Even better still, the iPhone app could easily include loads of additional information about the artist including tour dates and ticket sales, merchandising, messaging and alerts, games, wallpapers, and the list goes on and on.

Presumably, the PUSA app is priced at $2.99 to cover the royalty fees for the music because this app wasn’t created by the band or the label. However, if the RIAA were smart, they would create an app like this for every artist and then include it with CDs as an incentive for consumers. The labels own the music so there’s only the cost of development, which they can easily foot as a marketing expense.

We love the potential that the PUSA iPhone app has for all artists and their fans. This kind of app could eventually save the music CD by adding real value to it, but only if the RIAA sees the light. Until then, a pay-for app like PUSA’s will probably only appeal to the band’s die hard fans willing to pay $2.99 in the App Store.

Do you want to be a top Adsense Earners? Get ideas from the top 8!

Are your curious to know who some of the biggest Google Adsense earners are? I know that I was interested to know who the best are so I could check out their websites and see how I could possibly earn as much money as these people do. I realized from most of these sites that sites with user generated content usually ranked pretty highly for Google Adsense earners. It seems that these “community” type sites do tend to get a lot of traffic and we all know that traffic = money. So without any more delay here are a list of the top 8 Google Adsense earners as collected from online resources. Please note that this list might be a bit outdated but it has lots of useful information still.

1. Markus Frind - PlentyOfFish.com - $300,000 per month
If you haven’t heard of this guy yet you should check out the website plentyoffish.com. He is the person who created this free online dating website from his appartment all by himself. His website soon become one of the largest dating websites online. I have actually tried out his website myself and can see how it can be interesting and attract a lot of visitors. The graphics and layout of the website is nothing fancy at all but the functionality is all there and its fast to use.

There have been many of doubts that he wasn’t making that much money so he made those people silent by posting a picture of his paycheck on his blog. According to his blog check represented two months worth of Adsense earnings.

2. Kevin Rose - Digg.com - $250,000 per month
Kevin Rose started Digg.com in December 2004. It is a social marketing site that is mostly news, video, and pictures that are submitted by users for other users to read about and view. Basically what happens is you can signup for an account and you can submit a “news story” and other people can view it and if they like it they can “Digg it” and this boosts the rating of the post. If it gets enough Diggs it will appear on the Frontpage of the site and will get tons of traffic. Digg has both Google Adsense ads and Federated Media ads. It is estimated that he earns roughly $250k a month from Adsense alone.

3. Jeremy Schoemaker - $140,000 per month
ShoeMoney is considered to be one of the greatest Internet Marketers out there. He is very good with search engines and knows how to setup his sites to get optimal traffic to them. In one of his best months with Google Adsense ShoeMoney earned $132,994.97. You can imagine it was probably pretty difficult for him to cash a check of that size!

Unlike most of the other Google advertisers ShoeMoney makes his money from hundreds of sites and thousands of domains.

4. Jason Calacanis - Weblogs, Inc. - $120,000 per month
Jason Calacanis is the creator of Weblogs. Weblogs is a network of blogs and it was apparently making roughly $4,000 a day from Google Adsense! He eventually sold the company to AOL for a reported $25 million. He also announced his retirement from blogging earlier this year (July 2008). If you optimize for wrong keywords, you are unlikely to see any results.
There are many software’s available to help you achieve search engine optimized (SEO) pages. XSitePro software will enable you to pinpoint any issues with on-page optimization and will guide you to correct these problems in step by step manner.
Link exchange or off page optimization plays a huge role getting higher search engine rankings. Here are top 6 tips for managing effective link exchange campaign.
1. Use a link exchange management script for managing link partners. A link exchange script will save you time and efforts to effectively manage link partners. Webmaster would like to exchange links with your site if you have link exchange script installed on your site. Make sure you link to link partner page from your home page.
2. Try to achieve PR2 (page rank) to PR3 with your link partner section to attract authority websites to link to your website. Use article submission with link back to your site to get one way links back to your website and improve your page rank.
A) You can submit articles to 450 article directories using Article Post Robot.
B) Use Link Directory Submitter Software to submit to high PR directories.
3. Once your website has achieved PR2 to PR3 then you can find authority websites with high search engine rankings similar to your website theme for link exchange. Never exchange links with non-relevant websites and link farms. The search engines will lower your ranking if your site is linking with link farms. 1 relevant link is better than having 10 non-relevant sites linking to your site.
4. Never exchange link with website which are banned from search engines, sites which are not indexed in the search engines and whose PR is equal or less than PR1. Never exchange links with link farms as link farms are considered spam sites in search engine’s eyes.
5. Make sure you do not have more than 25 links pointing out from your link partner pages.
6. Search engines are looking for a constant and gradual increase in links pointing to your website. Getting a quick spike in links may be perceived as spammy in search engines eyes. So make sure you are constantly exchanging links over the time with other websites to increase your site rankings.

Teased Tricks for your website to get more exposure?

Teased tricks for your website to get more exposure?

When a new website is built, the first thing we should do is promptly stepping up its traffic, including Google PR and Alexa traffic rank. But it is also the most dangerous way to avoid google detecting.

IV. But dig a little deeper, and you can do a lot more. After three weeks of putting the iPhone through its paces, here are 21 tips for getting the most out of the iPhone’s advertised features… or finding a couple of features you might not know were part of the phone’s repertoire.
1. Use your iPhone as a storage device
One of side benefits to the iPod beyond its music-playing capabilities is the fact that you can use it to store files. You can’t do this with an out-of-the-box iPhone. But with the help of a $10 program—and a Mac—you can. The app is iPhoneDrive, a small utility from Ecamm Network that displays the free storage area of an iPhone in the manner of a Finder window in Column view. To add files to the iPhone, either click the Copy to iPhone button or drag a file or folder to the iPhoneDrive Window; dragging from the iPhone or clicking on Copy From iPhone puts iPhone files on your Mac. Note that music and photo files for use on your iPhone are off limits.—CHRISTOPHER BREEN

2. Get a bigger keyboard for Web browsing
Like any other iPhone function requiring data entry, tapping Safari’s address bar summons an on-screen keyboard. However, if you rotate the iPhone horizontally before tapping the address bar, the Safari window will switch to horizontal mode; then, when you then tap the address bar, the onscreen keyboard also appears horizontally. More important, it will also be much larger than the standard vertical keyboard, making data entry a little easier. By the way, Safari is currently the only iPhone application in which this horizontal keyboard appears. (Also worth noting: If you summon the keyboard before rotating your iPhone, then Safari won’t rotate.)—DAN FRAKES

3. Create a home page in Safari
With the regular version of Safari that runs on your Mac (and now your Windows-based PC), setting a particular site as your home page is as simple as going to the General tab in Preferences and typing in a URL. You can’t do that on the iPhone, however. But you can use this work-around: Add your would-be home page to your bookmarks list and then move it to the top of your bookmarks list. Yes it’s an extra tap—first the Bookmarks button and then the bookmark itself—but it will get you to your favorite Web page with a minimum of fuss.

4. Share your URLs
If you want to send the URL of a Web page you’re viewing to a friend, tap the Address Bar, then tap Share. A new e-mail message, containing the URL, will open in Mail; just choose a recipient(s), add any comments you want to include, and tap Send.

5. Scroll through separate boxes on a Web page
If you encounter a scrolling box or list when surfing Safari on your iPhone—and try to scroll using your finger, you’ll find that the entire page scrolls, instead of just the box. The trick is to zoom in and scroll such areas with two fingers.

6. Make a call from Safari
If you find a phone number in Safari that you’d like to call—say the phone number at a restaurant you’d like to make reservations at—there’s no need to jump to the phone component. Just tap the number; iPhone will dial it for you. (This is also the case with phone numbers and URL embedded in e-mails and SMS chats; tapping either one will place a call or open a Web page, respectively.)—PHILIP MICHAELS

7. Find out where those links go
When in Safari, holding your fingertip down on a link instead of tapping it produces an information balloon that displays the underlying URL. The same thing happens in Mail when you hold a link, which makes this tip much more useful. Now when those “account update” e-mails appear, you can press and hold on the link to find out if you’re really going to be taken to the site the e-mail claims.

8. Avoid Mail confusion
Don’t name two of your e-mail accounts with the same name, as Mail will get confused and copy the settings from one account to the other. And you can’t fix the situation by simply renaming one account; you’ll need to delete one of the accounts and then recreate it.

9. Mark previously-read messages as unread
There doesn’t appear to be a way to the mark a read message as unread on the iPhone, but it’s in there. While viewing a message, tap Details, which reveals a Mark As Unread option; tap it, and the next time you view your Inbox, the message will display the Unread indicator.

10. Recover ‘lost’ e-mails
Say you try to send an e-mail, but the iPhone can’t get network access. You might think your message has disappeared completely, but don’t worry—it’s still on your phone. A temporary Outgoing folder is created, and the message winds up in there. You can access this temporary folder from the main screen of the sending account; the folder will disappear once network access is available and the message is sent.

11. Create e-mail folders
Well, actually, you can’t create e-mail folders on the iPhone. What you can do, however, with an IMAP e-mail account is create folders on the IMAP server—for example, if you have a .Mac account, using the .Mac Web Mail interface. Those folders will then appear on the iPhone, and their contents will—eventually—be synced between the iPhone and the server.

12. Save e-mail messages as drafts
If you want to save a message you’re working on so you can come back to it later, tap Cancel. Instead of deleting the message immediately, Mail pops up a dialog asking you to Save, Don’t Save, or Cancel. Tap Save and the message is placed in your Drafts folder. If your account doesn’t currently have a Drafts folder, Mail will create one. However, don’t be alarmed if the message doesn’t appear in Drafts immediately; in my testing, it takes a while to show up.

13. Pick where you listen to voicemail
If you’ve got a Bluetooth headset, incoming calls get routed there automatically—not so when you call up Visual Voicemail. However, an Audio button on the Visual Voicemail screen lets you set where you listen to your message: the handset, the built-in speaker, or a Bluetooth headset.—JIM DALRYMPLE

14. Find another way to scroll through Contacts
Everyone knows that you can scroll through the Contacts list on your iPhone two different ways—either flick your finger on the list to scroll up or down, or tap on one of the letters on the alphabet running down the right side of the screen to jump to contacts beginning with that letter. But there is a third way: hold your finger on the alphabetical list and then slide up and down—you’ll be able to scroll through your Contacts in a more controlled manner than by flicking your finger.

15. Use the Favorites and Recents list for more than just phone calls
Favorites and Recents are part of the main Phone screen; the former is iPhone’s version of frequently called numbers while the latter is a list of people who you’ve called and whose calls you missed. But this is not just a phone feature—assuming the numbers in Favorites and Recents belong to a mobile phone, you can send them an SMS message. Just tap the > button next to the contact name or number and then tap the Text Message button at the bottom of the contact listing.

16. Save time in driving directions
One of the primary uses for the iPhone’s Map application is to get driving directions. Both the starting point and destination fields offer the Bookmarks button, so you can quickly use a bookmark, recent location, or contact when searching for directions. The first thing you should do in Maps is find your own address and then bookmark it—this will make finding directions to and from locations as easy as tapping your home bookmark.

As with the iPod, the iPhone lets you set the speed of audiobook playback.

17. Recreate some of the iPod’s audio controls
If you listen to an audiobook on an iPod, you probably know that, you can alter the playback speed to make it go faster or slower as your preferences dictate. That feature makes its way over to the iPhone as well. Just tap Settings and then the iPod option; tap the Audiobook Speed entry and in the resulting screen, tap to choose among Slower, Normal, or Faster.
In fact, that’s just one iPod feature that also appears on the iPhone. You can also use the Settings screen to turn on Sound Check (the feature that makes volume more consistent from one track to another) and change the EQ with 22 included equalization presets.

18. Change your iPod icons
By default, the icons on the bottom of the iPod screen are Playlists, Artists, Songs, Videos, and More. You can change those first four, just as you would the commands that appear on an iPod’s main screen. Simply tap the More icon and, in the More screen, tap the Edit button at the top-left of the screen. A Configure screen will wipe up from the bottom and display icons for Albums, Podcasts, Audiobooks, Genres, Composers, Compilations, Playlists, Artists, Songs, and Videos. To substitute one of these icons for one that appears at the bottom of the screen, just tap and hold on an icon and drag it over the icon you want to replace. Tap Done when you’re done.

19. Say goodbye to already-viewed videos
Even owners of the largest-capacity iPhone might feel constrained by the 8GB limit when it comes to storing videos. A full-length motion picture takes up around 1GB of storage, which is a significant chunk of space for just one piece of media. To help ease the storage crunch however, the iPhone offers to delete videos after you’ve finished watching them; just tap a button and Pirates of the Caribbean will disappear off your iPhone, freeing up more space.—CB

After you finish watching a movie, the iPhone will ask if you want to free up space by deleting it.

20. Syncing notes with the iPhone
One of the major limitations to the iPhone’s Notes app is that you can’t sync it with data from any application on your Mac. There’s a work-around, however—each contact has a notes field. So create a fake contact and paste any info you’d like to keep with you in the notes field for that contact in Address Book. One sync later, and all that info will be at your fingertips.—JONATHAN SEFF

21. Rebooting your iPhone
Pretend for a moment that your iPhone suddenly becomes unresponsive. Pushing the Home button does nothing. Hitting the On/Off button produces the same discouraging result. What do you do? Apple’s first reset tip is to press and hold the Home button for about six seconds to quit any application that might have locked up your iPhone. If that doesn’t work, trying pressing and holding both Home and On/Off; after about 10 seconds the Apple logo will appear. (This reboot trick takes a little big longer than the iPod equivalent—holding down Select and Menu usually restarts your music player after four seconds.)

Source: http://www.macworld.com/

Link Exchange Tips

15 Link Exchange Tips

Establishing inbound links through reciprocal link exchanges is a very effective promotional and advertising tool.If done correctly, building inbound links can improve your rankings in the search engines by raising your link popularity, increasing your website traffic, and providing a valuable resource for your website customers and visitors. Here are 15 link exchange tips to get you started:

1. Exchange links with websites that will bring you targeted traffic. Targeted traffic means visitors and/or customers that will be interested in your products or services.

2. Keep your link title brief and free of long sentences.

3. Try to keep your link description brief (aim for 200 characters or less).

4. Do not capitalize all letters in your link title or description.

5. Do not give the webmaster a deadline on when they should reciprocate. Webmasters are very busy people and it may take from 1 to 60 days or more. Be patient and in the long run you will receive more quality link partners!

6. Never remove a link partner from your site once they have agreed to exchange links with you and placed your link on their site.

7. Do not request link exchanges from sites that are unrelated to your website. For example, if you have a candle website, don't exchange links with a pharmaceutical website. This will not benefit your customers or visitors and the search engines may penalize your website for this.

8. Let the webmaster know that you have indeed visited their site and explain to them why a reciprocal link exchange with your website would be beneficial.

9. Be sure that your link pages are search engine friendly. Link pages are easier indexed if they have no more than 25 links per page.

10. Complete your website before requesting reciprocal link exchanges. Most webmasters will not link to a site where most of the pages are "under construction".

11. Do not give misleading information in your link exchange request. Most webmasters are not going to believe it and your request will most likely be ignored. For example, don't claim that your site receives 100,000 unique visitors a day unless your site really receives that many.

12. It is best to categorize your link partners. For example, you might want to have a home and garden page, a home improvement page, a candles page, etc. This is a much better way or organizing your links for both your visitors and your link partners. If you just have one huge page of links in no order, most webmasters will not approve your link exchange request.
13. Make sure your links page is linked and visible from your home page.

14. If your site is family friendly, do not add link partners that offer services or products that are not family friendly.

15. Be aware of free-for-all link programs and link farms. These are sites that basically offer nothing but unrelated links and end up collecting and sharing your email address, which results in a lot of unwanted SPAM in your inbox.

The above tips are only a few suggestions on how to build a successful linking campaign. Most importantly, be patient and take your time to find quality link partners that will add a valuable resource and bring targeted traffic to your website.

iPhone 3G Specifications

iPhone 3G Specifications

Screen size: 3.5 inches (diagonal)

Screen resolution: 480 by 320 pixels (163 ppi)

Input method: With fast 3G wireless technology, GPS mapping, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, and the new App Store, iPhone 3G puts even more features at your fingertips. And like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one — a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser. iPhone 3G. It redefines what a mobile phone can do — again.

What’s new on iPhone 3G:

3G Speed

Surf the web and download email over fast 3G cellular networks.

3G technology gives iPhone fast access to the Internet and email over cellular networks around the world. iPhone 3G also makes it possible to do more in more places: Surf the web, download email, get directions, and watch video — even while you’re on a call.

How it works.
iPhone 3G uses a technology protocol called HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) to download data fast over UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) networks. Email attachments and web pages load twice as fast on 3G networks as on 2G EDGE networks.1 And since iPhone 3G seamlessly switches between EDGE, faster 3G, and even faster Wi-Fi, you always get the best speeds possible.

Talk and browse. At the same time.
iPhone already gives you mobile multitasking. But 3G technology lets you multitask in more places — without connecting via Wi-Fi. Since 3G networks enable simultaneous data and voice, you can talk on the phone while surfing the web, checking email, or using Maps. All from your 3G cellular network.

Go anywhere.
iPhone 3G meets worldwide standards for cellular communications, so you can make calls and surf the web from practically anywhere on the planet. And if you’re in an area without a 3G network, iPhone connects you via GSM for calls and EDGE for data.

More wireless. Less space.
iPhone 3G delivers UMTS, HSDPA, GSM, Wi-Fi, EDGE, GPS, and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR in one compact device — using only two antennas. Clever iPhone engineering integrates those antennas into a few unexpected places: the metal ring around the camera, the audio jack, the metal screen bezel, and the iPhone circuitry itself. And intelligent iPhone power management technology gives you up to 5 hours of talk time over 3G networks.2 That’s some of the best in the business.

iPhone in Enterprise

With support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, iPhone delivers push email, calendar, and contacts right to your pocket.

The App Store

The App Store lets you browse applications and download them directly to your iPhone. Some applications are even free.

Maps with GPS

Find your location, get directions, and track progress along your route.

Find your location, get directions, and see traffic — all from your phone. Maps on iPhone 3G combines GPS, Wi-Fi, and cell tower location technology with the Multi-Touch interface to create the best mobile map application ever.

Find yourself.
iPhone 3G finds your location via GPS or by triangulating your position using Wi-Fi and cellular towers. It also finds points of interest by keyword: Search for “coffee” and iPhone shows you every cafe nearby.

Get directions.
Get directions to wherever from wherever. View turn-by-turn directions or watch your progress with live GPS tracking.

Enjoy the view.
Just like Google Maps on your computer, Maps on iPhone lets you switch between map view, satellite view, and a hybrid view of both. Multi-Touch makes the difference: Tap to zoom, pan, and change your view on the move.

See traffic.
Maps on iPhone shows you live traffic information, indicating traffic speed along your route in easy-to-read green, red, and yellow highlights.

Better Mail Management

Email on iPhone looks and works just like email on your computer. With support for popular email servers and providers — including MobileMe, Microsoft Exchange, Yahoo! Mail, Google Gmail, and AOL — and most industry-standard IMAP or POP mail systems, iPhone puts email in your pocket.

See it all.
iPhone supports rich HTML email, so images and photos appear alongside text. And you see email attachments in their original format, not as stripped-down versions. Rotate, zoom, and pan in more than a dozen standard file and image formats, including PDF, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and also view iWork attachments.

Send fast.
iPhone recognizes email addresses in different applications. If you run across an email address on a web page or a map listing, for example, just tap it and iPhone opens a new message with the address already in it.

Type smart.
The intelligent iPhone keyboard with built-in dictionary predicts and suggests words as you type, making it fast and easy to write email.

Get push email for enterprise.
Receive and respond to work email fast on iPhone. New support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync gives you push email that arrives automatically.

Contacts search

With iPhone, making a call is as simple as tapping a name or number. All your contacts appear in a list you scroll through with a flick of your finger. And Visual Voicemail plays your messages in any order you want, just like email.

Tap into calls.
Tap any phone number in Contacts, Favorites, an email, an SMS text message — or almost any other application — to make a call. If you have a lot of contacts, use the search feature to quickly find specific names. iPhone also makes it easy to talk to more than one person at the same time. With a tap, you can switch between calls or create a conference call.

Make contact.
Building your iPhone address book is simple. Contacts sync via iTunes each time you connect iPhone to your computer. You can even add contact information directly from Maps and SMS messages with just a few taps.

Answer in a pinch.
The stereo headset that comes with iPhone features a high-performance microphone — fitted with a windscreen for added clarity — that also serves as a Send/End button you pinch to answer or end calls.

See your voicemail.
Listen to your fourth voicemail message without listening to the three before it. Use it just as you would a pocket calculator.

Calculate scientifically.
Rotate iPhone and your pocket calculator transforms into a sophisticated scientific calculator with dozens of functions for solving complex scientific and advanced mathematic problems.
<img width='1' height='1' for traffic

几大must，几大must not，看你往哪里跑。。。
For publishers：
Forums：

<img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1407281117636918751-7772250458018818847?l=iaizkai.blogspot.com' your debt" />

first step in reducing your debt

The first step in reducing your debt is to work out exactly how much you owe. Now, this may sound obvious but you’d be surprised how many people know they have have debts with various credit cards, store cards and loans, know they’re paying monthly towards them, but don’t know what the outstanding balance is (or are too afraid to look).

Make a list, separating out each individual debt. Be sure to include all your:
- credit cards
- unsecured loans
- loans secured on your house, e.g. mortgage
- other secured loans
- store cards
- bank overdrafts
- car finance
- other hire purchase (furniture, electrical goods etc)

Next you need to write down further details of each one. Find out what the interest rate is for each of the debts, how much you are paying each month and how much longer the debt has to run, either by checking your statements or by calling the companies.

Now write a new list; put your mortgage (if you have one) at the top of the list, followed by any other loans secured on your house. The reason for this is that these are the repayments with the highest priority: the last thing you want to do is concentrate on paying off other debts, but have your home reposessed in the process. Underneath these draw a line then write your other debts, in descending order of interest rates, i.e. the highest at the top. Your list should now look something like:
Abbey Mortgage - 6% - £126,000 - 22 years - £850/month
Ocean Finance Loan - 7.9% - £28,250 - 4 years - £625/month
—————————————————————
Debenhams Store Card - 29% - £1250 - indefinite - £80/month
NatWest overdraft - 17% - £900 - indefinite - £0/month
LloydsTSB overdraft - 18.7% - £850 - indefinite - £0/month
NatWest Visa - 16.9% - £3700 - indefinite - £85/month
Barclaycard - 14% - £5250 - indefinite - £95/month
Car hire purchase - 10.5% - £9,500- 3 years - £222/month
NatWest Loan - 7% - £6300 - 3.5 years - £142/month
Total debt - £182,000Total payment/month - £2099
The plan now is two-fold: pay off debts with the highest interest rates first and, where possible, move debts to a lower interest rate without extending their life.

This last point is very important. Although your monthly repayments will be lower you will stay in debt for longer and could end up paying more in total over the life of the debt. For example, £10,000 over 3 years with a 10% interest rate is £322/month; over 5 years at 7% it is only £198/month. However, with the second option you would have stayed in debt for 2 years more and paid an extra £264 in interest. Only if you are stuggling to make repayments should you ever consider extending the life of a debt.

Source: http://www.debtassistant.co.uk/

Efficient ways to pay off your debt more quickly or reduce the amount you pay out each month!

What you should be aiming to do is move as much of your debt to as low a interest rate as possible, whilst paying as much as much as you feel comfortable with each month.

Mortgage and Loans Secured On Your House

Of all of your debts these are the most important, as if you default on monthly payments you run the risk of losing your home. Unless you only have a few years left on your mortgage (less than 5), do not be tempted to either increase the size of it to pay off other debts or extend the length of it. In the first instance you will end up paying off your debts over many years, and in the second you will be in debt for longer. Both mean you will pay end up paying more in interest.

Remortgaging is one way to reduce the amount you pay on your mortgage, and if you are on a standard variable rate it will certainly be worth investigating. This may involve some upfront outlay in arrangement fees from the new lender and early repayment penalties from your existing lender, so these will have to be weighed up against the savings you will make. My advice is to speak to an independent mortgage advisor, who will be able to tell you whether this is the right course of action for you and, if it is, find the mortgage that is best suited to you.

There is little you will be able to do with other debts secured on your home. If you can afford it you may be able to reduce the term of the loan (and therefore increase the monthly payment), but secured loans are usually the cheapest way to borrow money. If you have extra money available to put towards your debts you would be better off paying off credit cards and overdrafts first.

Credit and Store Cards

After loan sharks, store cards are one of the most expensive ways to borrow money, with monthly interest rates of 2% not uncommon. If you have available balance on your credit card you should immediately transfer your store card balances over, and then cancel your store cards.

Many companies offer 0% introductory rates on credit cards, so if possible you should transfer as much of your debt as possible to one of these. However, make sure you know what the minimum payments is, how long the introductory rate lasts for and if there are any penalties for transfering debt to another card once the introductory rate has finished.

Unsecured Loans

Depending on when you took out the loan and the type of loan you have, it may be possible to move it to a different provider at a lower interest rate. This may be to a 0% credit card or another loan.

You should, however, be careful not to extend the length of the loan. As with mortgages, the longer the loan, the more interest you will pay, so even with a lower interest rate you may end up paying more for it. If you transfer it to a credit card, be sure to pay at least as much each month as you were previously; this way you will finish repaying it quicker. Also check with your current lender for any penaltys for paying off the loan early. If there are any this may negate the benefits of moving it for a better deal.

Hire Purchase & Finance Agreements

As with unsecured loans, you can pay off a hire purchase or finance agreement early, usually subject to a penalty, without being liable for future interest. The way to work out whether it is worth doing this and transfering the debt to another provider is to ask the finance company for an early settlement figure. If you can obtain a loan for this amount at a lower interest rate, and not extend the length of the debt, then you should do so. You can then choose whether to carry on paying the same amount each month to clear the debt earlier, or put the savings towards paying off any more expensive debts.

Game on with psx4iphone, the Playstation 1 emulator for iPhone and iPod touch

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. The unofficial Playstation 1 emulator is officially here and just in time for Christmas! In fact, if you have a Jailbreak iPhone or iPod touch you may already have it in your hand. Just check the Installer.app for psx4iphone to add it to your device. You can also try the manual installation method if you don’t want to run Jailbreak.

Once the emulator is installed, you need to select the games you want to play, but take note, not all games are created equal here. Some run great, some not so well. Please let us know which games are the best. Unlike similar applications, Simplify Media does not use Safari to stream music. This allows you to surf the web while you and your friends listen to your iTunes library from anywhere you have Wi-Fi access.

To install Simplify Media, you will need a Jailbreak iPhone or iPod touch with the AppTapp Installer. Then go to AppTapp and look for Simplify Media under the multimedia category. When you run it you will need to sign in with your Simplify Media username and password. Download the desktop version of the software for Mac or PC to create your free account. Be sure you have a Wi-Fi connection because EDGE won’t cut it. And you might want to check out the iPhone demo at the Simplify Media web site.

Source: http://www.touchtip.com/

iPhone and iPod touch helping doctors help you

We knew we should have listened to our mothers and became doctors instead of web developers. At least we’d spend more time using these cool iPhone tools to improve patient care instead of surfing YouTube all day. These three new medical applications indicate that the iPhone and iPod touch are starting to make their way into doctors’ offices and hospitals.

1. With this free drug database from Epocrates (now optimized for iPhone and iPod touch), it’s like having a drug dealer on speed dial. Well, okay, maybe more like a pharmacist.

Epocrates has long been regarded as the gold standard of mobile reference tools for doctors and clinicians, and their applications run natively on a broad range of mobile platforms (Palm, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry). They have recently released an iPhone optimized version of their web-based drug reference tool, Epocrates Online, which features drug content written for the health care professional. We would love to see the entire Epcocrates mobile suite running native on the iPhone, and perhaps we’ll get our wish after Apple releases the SDK next year. Until then, you’ll need a PDA or Smartphone to use the native Epocrates applications. In the meantime, you can access the Epocrates Online drug information with iPhone or iPod touch at m.epocrates.com/iphone.

Practice Managment

For professional grade practice management software on the iPhone, you may find what you need with MacPractice, offering specific solutions for medical doctors, dentists, chiropractors, and optometrists. MacPractice software is very robust with the ease-of-use design that Macintosh is famous for. And MacPractice now has iPhone and iPod touch access built in, allowing you to use several key features from the convenience of your Apple device.

Log in to view patients with appointments any day

Search for a patient

View patient contact information

Tap to email a patient

Tap to call a patient

Review patient Rx history

Health News

There is no shortage of health-related news web sites available, but Chondriac (a new tool from mobile app creators, dataXform) makes it much easier to read that news on your iPhone or iPod touch. The news is organized nicely into categories for men, women, and children. There are also news categories for specific diseases and ailments, along with hooks to topical health care blogs. Sites like Wasabe and Mint are targeted to younger people that don’t need advanced features and are just looking for an easy-to-use system to view and manage their finances while getting advice along the way. Both of these web apps are great in their own way, but each lack mobile access for iPhone and iPod touch. On January 8th, Intuit comes to the rescue with the release of Qucken Online, a simplified version of their desktop software that features an optimized interface for the iPhone. What makes this so exciting? Imagine using your iPhone as a register for checks and credit card expenses. Tap in your expenses as you make them and this gets reflected in your Quicken Online account instantly. This is extremely handy for shared accounts where multiple users need to see actual financial positions in real-time, instead of what the bank happens to know about at that time. Intuit also plans to integrate Quicken Online with TurboTax next year (for the 2008 tax year), a move that will assure this web app the top position among its competitors.

Quicken Online connects to your bank accounts and credit cards to give you a picture of your cash flow, and it knows how to connect to over 5,000 banks and credit card institutions. Online bill payment services will not be included in the launch but will be added in future updates. The service does detect which of your expenses are bills, then sends reminder alerts by email or SMS before those bills are due.

Access to Quicken Online is priced at $2.99 per month (after a 30-day trial). Sign up for the beta today at http://www.quickenonline.com/.

source: http://www.touchtip.com/

iPhone and iPod touch: Tips when using Wi-Fi

See the iPhone User's Guide or iPod touch Features Guide for information on configuring Wi-Fi. Check these suggestions if you run into any issues using Wi-Fi. For best results, make sure you are using the most recent iPhone or iPod touch software.

Try renewing DHCP lease at commercial hotspots

If you are having issues using a commercial (paid) Wi-Fi hotspot, like at an airport or coffee shop, try renewing your DHCP lease.

1. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi Networks, then pick the network.

2. In the DHCP panel, select the Renew Lease button.
If this does not resolve the issue, then you might want to try, "iPhone Basic Troubleshooting or iPod touch: Basic Troubleshooting.

If iPhone Wi-Fi connection reverts to EDGE

If you're trying to connect to Wi-Fi and it looks like you're connected, but when you access a web page, it goes back to EDGE, it may be due to a known issue if wireless router is using MAC Address Filtering and the iPhone's MAC address has not been entered into the filter list. This may also occur if the WEP password was entered incorrectly.
If you experience this and use WEP Password, on the iPhone tap Settings > Wi-Fi. Then tap More Info ( > ) next to the Wi-Fi network name and tap Forget this Network. Then try accessing the Wi-Fi network again. Alternatively, turn off WEP encryption on the wireless router.
If MAC Address Filtering is enabled on the wireless router, make sure iPhone's Wi-Fi address (in Settings > General > About) is entered into the router's filter. See the documentation that came with your wireless router for additional information.

Weak iPhone Wi-Fi signal

If you are having issues using the Internet, checking email, checking stocks, or other data activity with the iPhone (the possible error message could be "could not connect to server") and the Wi-Fi icon is showing very weak signal, try turning Wi-Fi off on the device so that the iPhone can use EDGE (tap Settings > Wi-Fi and the set Wi-Fi to off).

"Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)" connecting to Wi-Fi

If you are receiving the error message "Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)" on the iPhone or iPod touch when attempting to connect or join to your Wi-Fi network, verify your Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and Security setting (WEP password, WEP hex or ASCII, WPA, or WPA2) for the device.
On the Wi-Fi Access Point/Router, you should verify if MAC address filtering is turned ON or OFF on the router, whether the security settings on the router match the iPhone or iPod touch (WEP password, WEP hex or ASCII, WPA, or WPA2), and try disabling (QoS) quality of service if that feature is turned ON for the router.
If you are still receiving the error message "Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)" on the device when attempting to connect or join to your Wi-Fi network after trying the above suggestions, tap Settings > Wi-Fi > Other (under Choose a Network) and then enter the Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and select your Security setting and enter your password.

No Internet access when switching networks

If you are switching between different Wi-Fi networks and you are unable to access the Internet on the iPhone or perform other data activities thru Wi-Fi, try turning Airplane Mode on and then off (tap Settings and turn Airplane Mode on and then turn Airplane Mode off). For iPod touch, turn Wi-Fi off and then back on again (tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then turn Wi-Fi on). If the issue continues, tap Settings > Wi-Fi > Other (under Choose a Network) and then enter the Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and select your Security setting and enter your password.

Iphone Touch MP4

Specification

1.2.8 TFT Touch Screen

2.Support AMV video format ,MP3 / WMA music format, JPG photo format.

3. To enable it, you need to have a jailbroken iPhone with some means of accessing the filesystem so you can edit com.apple.springboard.plist. Specifically:
Navigate to "/var/root/Library/Preferences/" and open up "com.apple.springboard.plist" in a plain text editor.

In the text editor, look for "<key>SBEnableALS</key><true>". Below it, add these two lines:
<key>SBEnableAppReveal</key><true>
Save that and restart your iPhone. When you get back to the home screen, Safari, YouTube, and The iTunes Store will be hidden. To unhide them, double tap their respective spaces.
To enable hiding of other applications, add the following to the Info.plist file contained within the .app folder:
<key>SBIsRevealable</key><true>
To disable hiding, change the "true" variable to "false". It should end up looking like:
<key>SBIsRevealable</key><false>

The disadvantages? For one, every time SpringBoard is restarted, the apps become hidden again. This means that you'll have to unhide apps every time you restart or install new applications. They do stay unhidden when you put the iPhone to sleep, though. Also, some apps, such as the iPod, are "special" and won't work with this trick. You may also notice a slight bit of lag when you first tap a revealable app because it's waiting for the second tap, but it shouldn't hurt anything. Bottom line: it's not for everyone, but it's handy for those who'd use it.

Now, the next time someone asks to see your iPhone, you won't need to worry about them changing your settings, calling Aunt Betty, or reading your emails.

Enjoy!

Random iPhone User Tips

I really like the iPhone but hate the shape of the earbuds that are bundled with it. What keeps me from tossing them is they have some cool functionality. The microphone not only works well as a hands-free device when on the phone in the car, but is also a handy control for the iPod function of the iPhone. Click it once and you can pause the music, twice and it jumps to the next song. So I didn’t want to trash the earbuds even though they don’t fit well.

My solution… a $12 investment (at CompUSA) in Griffin EarJams. They convert Apple’s earbuds into more comfortable inner earphones. This combination is not the ultimate in sound quality, but it sure is an improvement over the stock earbuds.

Next, I keep my iPhone protected by passcode. This is a nice feature, but have you noticed that the welcome screen has no personal information on it? Just the time and date. What happens if you misplace your iPhone?

I’m using the Incase Molded Rubber Case to protect the edges of the iPhone. As an added measure of protection, I’ve slipped a business card between the case and the phone that has my contact information on it. That way, if I misplace my device, I have half a chance or recovering it. (Just don’t use your iPhone number for the contact info… doh!)

Finally, I’m keeping the phone charged in the car with the XtremeMac InCharge Auto. It’s a great looking device with an intelligent self-resetting fuse. For $19.95, it’s done a great job of keeping me juiced up on the go.

Monday August 13, 2007 8:19AM
by Derrick Story in Opinion
Source: http://www.oreillynet.com/

Twenty-one favorite iPhone tips

Browse better, e-mail more efficiently, and do more with your iPhone

You can do a lot with the iPhone—make a phone call, surf the Web, watch a movie—just with the touch of a virtual button. But dig a little deeper, and you can do a lot more. After three weeks of putting the iPhone through its paces, here are 21 tips for getting the most out of the iPhone’s advertised features… or finding a couple of features you might not know were part of the phone’s repertoire. Look for more tips in the coming weeks, both at Macworld.com and our new iPhone Central blog.

Yes it’s an extra tap—first the Bookmarks button and then the bookmark itself—but it will get you to your favorite Web page with a minimum of fuss.—DF

4. Share your URLs

If you want to send the URL of a Web page you’re viewing to a friend, tap the Address Bar, then tap Share. A new e-mail message, containing the URL, will open in Mail; just choose a recipient(s), add any comments you want to include, and tap Send.—DF

5. Scroll through separate boxes on a Web page

If you encounter a scrolling box or list when surfing Safari on your iPhone—say you’re responding to a post at the Macworld.com forums —and try to scroll using your finger, you’ll find that the entire page scrolls, instead of just the box. The trick is to zoom in and scroll such areas with two fingers.—DF

Now when those “account update” e-mails appear, you can press and hold on the link to find out if you’re really going to be taken to the site the e-mail claims.—DF

8. Avoid Mail confusion

Don’t name two of your e-mail accounts with the same name, as Mail will get confused and copy the settings from one account to the other. And you can’t fix the situation by simply renaming one account; you’ll need to delete one of the accounts and then recreate it.—DF

9. Mark previously-read messages as unread

There doesn’t appear to be a way to the mark a read message as unread on the iPhone, but it’s in there. While viewing a message, tap Details, which reveals a Mark As Unread option; tap it, and the next time you view your Inbox, the message will display the Unread indicator.—DF

10. Recover ‘lost’ e-mails

Say you try to send an e-mail, but the iPhone can’t get network access. You might think your message has disappeared completely, but don’t worry—it’s still on your phone. A temporary Outgoing folder is created, and the message winds up in there. You can access this temporary folder from the main screen of the sending account; the folder will disappear once network access is available and the message is sent.—DF

11. Create e-mail folders

Well, actually, you can’t create e-mail folders on the iPhone. What you can do, however, with an IMAP e-mail account is create folders on the IMAP server—for example, if you have a .Mac account, using the .Mac Web Mail interface. Those folders will then appear on the iPhone, and their contents will—eventually—be synced between the iPhone and the server.—DF

However, don’t be alarmed if the message doesn’t appear in Drafts immediately; in my testing, it takes a while to show up.—DF

But there is a third way: hold your finger on the alphabetical list and then slide up and down—you’ll be able to scroll through your Contacts in a more controlled manner than by flicking your finger.—JD

Just tap the > button next to the contact name or number and then tap the Text Message button at the bottom of the contact listing.—DF

16. Save time in driving directions

One of the primary uses for the iPhone’s Map application is to get driving directions. Both the starting point and destination fields offer the Bookmarks button, so you can quickly use a bookmark, recent location, or contact when searching for directions. The first thing you should do in Maps is find your own address and then bookmark it—this will make finding directions to and from locations as easy as tapping your home bookmark.—DF

17. Recreate some of the iPod’s audio controls

If you listen to an audiobook on an iPod, you probably know that, ever since the fourth-generation iPod’s release, you can alter the playback speed to make it go faster or slower as your preferences dictate.

You can also use the Settings screen to turn on Sound Check (the feature that makes volume more consistent from one track to another) and change the EQ with 22 included equalization presets.—CB

Tap Done when you’re done.—CB

(This reboot trick takes a little big longer than the iPod equivalent—holding down Select and Menu usually restarts your music player after four seconds.)—CB

Lots of funny i*** pictures.
