Columbus and Akron, Ohio - The world's first molecular nanotechnology company, Zyvex Technologies, and NanoFusing LLC; a subsidiary of APV Engineered Coatings, one of Ohio's first paint and coatings manufacturers, have announced a partnership to provide nano-enhanced concentrates and products to the infrastructure markets and OEM industries.

Carbon based nanomaterials are widely recognized as the strongest materials known to man. Zyvex was the first company to deliver commercial products powered by carbon nanotubes (CNT) with sporting goods in 2004 and today with lightweight marine and automotive applications.

Leveraging the nanotechnology scientific resources of Zyvex and the manufacturing and nanotube dispersing expertise of NanoFusing LLC, the companies will produce custom carbon nanotube-enhanced concentrates to be implemented into materials for superior strength and performance, along with conductive, optical, and lightweight properties.

Currently helping the Genoa Racing team stay longer on the winning track, Epovex "glues" the car back together for a permanent repair. Results are stronger than welding. The team started 2011 with a victory in the prestigious Mobil 1, 12 Hours of Sebring in March and also won at two other classic American tracks, Lime Rock Park and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Epovex Adhesive can be used on future carbon fiber car repairs, keeping costs and repair time to a minimum.

The first application for this partnership is expected to be with a large automotive supplier that produces various engine and drive train components for many commercial vehicle manufacturers. Nano-enhanced coatings are expected to be used to make tougher, more fuel efficient semi-trucks and reliable engines.

NanoFusing^TM, NanoFusing LLC's proprietary CNT dispersing process, homogenously disperses carbon nanotubes into liquid resins and materials (host matrix) safely. The unique Kentera technology from Zyvex creates chemical bonds on carbon nanotubes which allow them to connect to the host matrix creating a sustained and stable bond between the molecules and materials.

�Case Study: Wells Fargo Florida Branch Roof Protected by APV eCoolRoof� to Conserve Energy ��(Akron, Ohio) – Pensacola, Florida, can get pretty hot in the summertime, with several days where the temperature clears 100 degrees. When this happens, the air conditioner in a building often runs continuously in an effort to keep inside temperatures down – and the effort isn’t always successful.��

With this challenge in mind, an official with Wells Fargo� made the decision in January 2011 to redo the roof of the Northview Branch building in an effort to conserve energy and preserve the life of the roof. APV eCoolRoof� from APV Engineered Coatings�, a new cool roof coating system comprised of a Kynar Aquatec� resin-based topcoat and an elastomeric acrylic basecoat, was applied to the roof in April 2011.� Working together, these two products can provide as much as 63 percent increase in life cycle energy savings for a structure.

�Patrick Murrell, owner of Structure Cleaning and Coating and the nation’s first Pro-X Certified Contractor™ for APV eCoolRoof, was instrumental in the choice by Wells Fargo of the APV eCoolRoof coating system. A strong relationship with Wachovia led to the relationship with Wells Fargo as the company goes through the rebranding process of its bank branches. While this is Murrell’s first bank branch job using APV eCoolRoof, he suspects it won’t be his last. �“We expect the use of APV eCoolRoof to lower the utility bills of the branch quite a bit,” said Murrell. “Before application of the APV eCoolRoof coating system the roof temperature was around 140 degrees, while the underside of the roof inside the bank was 90 degrees – and this was when the outside air temperature was only 78 degrees. APV eCoolRoof is a quality product ideal for light commercial applications like this; we look forward to hearing about cooler days ahead inside the bank.”�

Application of APV eCoolRoof is well-timed as Gulf Power Company launched their Commercial/Industrial EarthCents Programs on June 1, 2011. Offering commercial customer rebates, applicable upgrades include the installation of a reflective roof.�APV eCoolRoof was applied in mid-April, and folks at Wells Fargo plan to keep an eye on the project, noting before and after statistics, to determine whether to expand the product usage to additional bank branches.

Initial statistics indicate that, since the application of the APV eCoolRoof product, the roof temperature of the building has been fluctuating between the same as the ambient air temperature to a maximum of three degrees above the ambient air temperature. This indicates a 60-62 degree decrease in roof temperature.�

The installation process for the APV eCoolRoof coating system was quick: one day to clean and prep the roof of the building, one day to apply the basecoat and one day to apply the topcoat. Initial TRS readings taken by an independent test laboratory accredited by the CRRC, indicated APV eCoolRoof had an average TSR of 92.62 percent, currently the third-highest of all products rated by the CRRC.

Investing in a Professional Painter

AKRON, OHIO - It's Saturday morning and the whole weekend stretches before you. Your conscious begs you to tackle a do-it-yourself home improvement project. But, before you decide to dive in and paint your home's exterior, weigh the pros and cons.

"Many homeowners don't have a clue as to how complicated and time-consuming it can be to properly prepare and paint the outside of a house," says Ron Rooker, owner of Ron's Painting in Fort Myers, Fla. "This is not a spur-of-the-moment weekend project --- and it's not a project that DIYers can tackle easily."

Ron's Painting, a Pro-X Certified Contractor^TM with APV Engineered Coatings�, has been professionally painting the exterior homes in the Fort Myers/Sanibel Island area of Florida for more than 30 years. "Every geographic area has its own challenges," says Rooker. "In Florida we have high humidity that leads to mildew and algae. Unless you're specially trained to properly prepare an exterior surface and then select the right paint, a home painting job can be useless."

18 Steps for Prep and Painting
On day one of a painting project, Rooker stresses the importance of properly cleaning and preparing the home's exterior. Without these critical steps, a new paint job may not properly adhere to a home. For each project, the Ron's Painting crew follows these steps:

Step 1 - Rinse all bushes and vegetation surrounding house with clean water.
Step 2 - Apply a mixture of chlorine and water to all parts of the home's exterior
to kill mildew, staying away from vegetation.
Step 3 - Pressure clean the home to remove the chlorine, taking special care not to
damage any wood areas, gutters or window frames.
Step 4 - Hand spray chlorine on foundation and work to remove stubborn mildew
and stained areas.
Step 5 - Rinse the entire house (including windows, vegetation and all exposed
areas) with fresh water. Let dry overnight.

Preparation continues on the second day of work as the team methodically completes the following steps:

Step 6 - Securely cover all windows, doors, screens and aluminum surfaces that
will not be painted.
Step 7 - Affix drop cloths near edges of home and tape to floors.
Step 8 - Cover vegetation with drop cloths.
Step 9 - When preparing to paint over stucco, determine if house surface is
chalky to the touch. If it is, apply chalk sealer to the entire home and let air dry. This assures that the caulk, patch, and paint will later stick to the surface.
Step 10 - Caulk and patch all areas needed, except windows. Using an
elastomeric caulk, any areas where there are gaps (such as around spigots and outlets) will be sealed.
Step 11 - Patch cracks in stucco walls and ceiling areas. Let cure overnight.

Only when the Ron's Painting team approaches day three does the actual painting begin.

Step 12 - Using a two-step process, initially spray the NeverFade paint on the
home and then back roll it into the stucco to make sure the paint properly adheres to the porous stucco. This provides an even finish and assures that the paint covers all crevices where mold is likely to grow.

On day four, the professional painters are back on the job, inspecting the initial paint coating and headed for touch-up work.

Step 13 - With spray painting complete, next comes the brush work and small
roller cut-ins for all areas of the home.
Step 14 - Hand paint fascia, gutters and trim covers.
Step 15 - Remove plastic from windows. Caulk around windows and allow to
cure overnight. Once caulk has been cured, hand brush or "cut in" paint on trim and smaller areas.
Step 16 - Review base areas of house and hand brush in final areas.
Step 17 - Top-to-bottom examination of home to assure all areas perfectly done.

Thomas Venarge Named President of APV Engineered Coatings�

AKRON, OHIO - Thomas Venarge has been named President of APV Engineered Coatings� in Akron, Ohio. Venarge had served as the company's Vice President of Manufacturing since 2004, and has also been the Plant Manager since 1999.

"Thomas has learned every aspect of this business since his initial involvement back in 1990," says David Venarge, chairman of APV Engineered Coatings, a custom engineered products company.
