Recently, somebody made this comment, "We are not going to be millionaires, anyway."

Because of this statement, it suddenly brought me back to the past and helped me recalled what I had learnt through the books and seminars I went.

Like what the subject title I put in this post, "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve."

Our minds are very powerful source of creation. Look at how the world has changed. From the era where our ancestors who were the cavemen and hunt for animals, and to the present era where we live in high rise buildings and use technology-driven equipments, all these happened because of our great powerful minds.

Similarly, if you want to gain financial freedom and be a millionaire, of course you can achieve it if you believe in yourself. If you want to help as many people as possible, of course you can achieve it too. Just like in the movie "Pay it forward" where the small boy wanted to help as many people as possible, so when the person who received his help and wanted to pay him back his kindness, he would tell that person that the person can in turn help another person as a form a paying it back to the small boy. This is why the movie is called "Pay it forward".

Like what Mr. Anthony Robbins had said, "You must believe in yourself and tell yourself that you can achieve what you want to achieve. From there, you actually do up a blueprint and set small goals in order to achieve this big goal. You set yourself a deadline to achieve these small goals and think of the strategy in order to achieve these small goals. If the strategy doesn't work, change the strategy and keep on improvising it. Most importantly, don't give up on your goals and dreams.

But definitely, there will be people out there who said, "It is easier than to be done. Life is more difficult than what you picture," and lots of other excuses. Some even blame on others or luck for their failure.

All these people belong to the category which Mr. Robert Kiyosaki has termed as, "The Losers". The losers are those people who give up once they failed and some don't even do anything at all and all they do are sitting down there and keep on whining and whining, complaining and complaining and they do absolutely NOTHING to improve themselves and be a better person.

If you are determined to achieve what you want in your life, and you find that you may be surrounded by some of these losers, please don't let them influence you and allow them to pull you down. Like what Mr. Adam Khoo has said, "Let them go and die and we have less competition." Hehehe. This is a humorous way to encourage us not to give up and don't let all these negative influences affecting us.

So if you keen to improve yourself and lead a better life, you can go to the major bookstores or library to read those books by those famous people I mentioned in this post.

Always with this in mind, "Whatever you have in your mind, it lasts forever. Nobody can take it away from you. Those material things that you own and wear, people can take it away from you. So please spend some quality time by yourself and read the books by these people and lead a fulfilling life of your own."

The reality show "The Apprentice" is BACK by POPULAR Demand!

For those of you who never watch any single episodes of this reality show before, let me give you an update of what this show is about.

This is actually a competition where a group of men and women will form two teams. Every week, Mr Donald Trump will give the two teams a project assigned by top big corporation's and MNCs and they need to do a good job within the tight deadlines. As all these top big corporations are well known internationally, definitely they will have very, very high expectations from the two teams and if the winning team's work is good, they may used the team's work and launch it commercially. So we can imagine the amount of stress that the two teams are facing every week.

The winning team will get a reward arranged by Mr Donald Trump such as having dinner in a high class prestigious restaurants, having a casual discussion with famous personalities, or having a helicopter ride, etc.

The losing team will go to the boardroom where they are supposed to convince Mr Donald Trump why they should stay in the game and why their team mate should be fired. From the "fire-fighting" going in among the team members, Mr Donald Trump will decide who should be fired and then he will do his classic move -- with his pointing finger, he will point to that particular team mate and tell the person, "you're fired!"

Sometimes, the show actually reaches its climax when Mr Donald Trump suddenly fired more than one team mates.

So this will continue every week until there is only two contestants left in the show. Mr Donald Trump then assigns a project to each of them that is organized by the Trump Organization. Mr Donald Trump will also assign a team of people to these two contestants and usually this team of people were those who were fired in previous episodes. When the projects were completed, the two contestants will go back to the boardroom where they will convinced Mr Donald Trump to choose them as The Apprentice. The winner who is given the title will be in charge a major project by the Trump Organization and all projects under Trump Organization are major scales and worth millions of dollars. Imagine the prestige and status when one won the title of the Apprentice.

What is so attractive about this show that entice me to try my best to watch it every week when I am not working?

Beside the word of wisdom that Mr Donald Trump will advise every week that is related to the projects that the teams are working on, what is most important is when you observe how each team member behaves.

Through each member's behavior, one can actually find a streak of similarity in your working colleagues, your boss and yourself. And through observation, one can learn from others by studying what are the rights and wrongs that they did that led to the success or failure of the project.

From there, you will get to understand what should one do and how should one behave in order to encourage team cohesiveness and encourage the team to strive hard for the common goal of the company.

One can understand different people's personalities as well and aware what should one do when one needs to work with a team mate with such personality.

Though it is just a simple competition, there are a lot of knowledge that can be gained when you think more deeply and be more observant when the game is on.

5 C's = Singapore Dream??

Everyone in Singapore is very familiar with this term - 5 C's. Many people keep pursuing it, some people keep searching for a life partner who owns it and some people keep dreaming about owning it. So what does this 5 C's stand for? It's none other than Cash, Car, Condominium, Country club membership and Credit Card. All these 5 C's represent one thing - status and success.

Currently, there is this movie showing in the cinemas now -- "Singapore Dreaming" and it talks about these 5 C's. In this movie, it also added one more C's and that is Coffin. I have yet to see this movie but I believed it would be good as it presents another interesting point of view to us.

We, living in Singapore, keep working very hard to pursue all these material wealth, but we actually sacrifice a lot of things during this process of pursuing and at the end of the day, if we really did achieve these material wealth, are we REALLY HAPPY? Or are we still missing out something in our life? Maybe these things that we miss out in our life are actually the ones that we really value, but because we are blinded by the importance of all these material wealth, we failed to see the true value of life and there are other aspects of life which are equally important as well, besides wealth.

So I decided to come up with my own version of the 5 C's + 1 C's = 6 C's and I hope that this will benefit you and broaden your mindset too.

"Choice + Challenge + Change + Conviction + Consistent = Consequences"

First, you have the CHOICE to decide what you want to achieve in your life. Everybody has their own definition of success. Some define success as in climbing the corporate ladder, some define it as having a loving family, some define it as helping those in need, etc. So you must ask yourself, "What do I want to achieve in my life?" "What is the most important thing in my life that I must have, in order to have a fulfilling life?"

Then, you must set a CHALLENGING goal for yourself. If you define success as in climbing the corporate ladder, then you can set a challenging goal, such as, "I want to be a manager in a year's time, I want to be a senior manager in two year's time, I want to be the general manager in three year's time, etc." Always set a goal with a given timeframe. The goal must be not so easy to achieve and also not too difficult to achieve so that you will work hard to achieve the goal and not give up half way too as the goal is realistic and achievable. The purpose of having a timeframe is to discipline yourself and not keep pushing it till the next day as all of us have the habit of delaying doing the tasks on hand.

After you set the challenging goal, then you must CHANGE. You must change the lifestyle you are having. You must plan your time very carefully and be detail-oriented so that you would not waste any time and you will make full use of your time to pursue your goal. Always change for the better and always keep changing your strategy if it failed and keep pursuing your goal.

Next, you must have the CONVICTION, the willpower to believe that you will succeed and you must succeed. Nobody can help you to achieve except yourself. Therefore, you must have the conviction that You Can DO It without fail!!! If you don't believe in yourself, then nobody will believe in you too and nobody will assist you in moving you toward your goal.

Next, you must CONSISTENTLY and continuously keep working toward your goal. It is all these small steps that you are doing everyday that help you achieve your ultimate goal. This applied to our education too. We spent about 10 years to get the basic foundation right. Without these 10 years of basic education, we will not know our language, mathematics, science, geography, history and others well. It is impossible for us to master everything within a year and this applies to our journey towards our goal too.

Finally, you will see the CONSEQUENCES of all these effort that you put in. The results that you have been hoping for and always working hard for.

With the achievement of this goal that you set for yourself, it is time for you to set another challenging goal for yourself and repeat the whole process. What makes life so interesting and fulfilling is because of all these goals that we set for ourselves.

So what are you waiting for?

Our Lives = Fireworks????

Recently, I had been to the Singapore Fireworks Festival which is an annual event. There were a few fireworks shows held on different days and the fireworks was from various countries. The shows for this year last longer than previous years which was 15mins.

This event always attracts lots of crowds from all walks of life. Therefore, you can be expected to pack like a can of sardines being packed so tightly. During these 15mins, there were a lot of 'wows' among the crowd and lots of applauses.

After the 15mins, everybody dispersed and the place became quiet again. Then, this prompted one wondering ... ...

If you did a reflection of what you had seen during the past 15mins, then you realised that somehow or another, our lives seem similar to fireworks.

Why? Why?? Why???

In the show, you would get to see various types of fireworks - some shot up high, some shot up low, some are very colorful, some are only of one color, some exploded to full bloom, some only exploded to half bloom, etc.

This is similar like us. Some of us can achieve very high status in our lives, to be a well-known personality in our own field or in the public. Some of us want a simple life, a simple job and a simple family. Because of all these different goals that we have in our lives, the path we take are different too.

All of us have the same starting point but all of us end in different points. But all of us have the same similiarity and that is, our lives are short. Just like the fireworks that will disappeared in the sky within seconds and the sky become dark again.

The audience who are watching the fireworks would be like our friends, colleagues and relatives. They would be standing at one side watching our lives. If we achieve something that is admirable that they dont have, they would give you the 'wow' and applause, but when you are gone, they would be leaving too and continue their own path they lead.

So, dont waste your time and ask yourself what you want to achieve in your life - something ambitious or something simple? No matter what you want to achieve, make sure it be as bright as fireworks and be a part of the people's memory always!

Die without regrets and make sure that your life that you lead is the BEST!

Therefore, there is a high chance that the stock price will plunged once it reached its highest point.

The stock prices for the stock market will always rise and fall all the times. It will never keep rising or never keep falling. Why those investors can earn so much money from the stock market because they did their homework. They always enter the market before the majority of the rest enter the market. From this week onwards, every monday at 8.30pm at Channel U, there is this show called "Taking off". This show is sponsored by ACE (Action Community for Entreprenuership) .

From yesterday onwards, every tuesday on channel 5, 7.30pm, there is a new show titled 'Spirit of Service'.

In this show, the host will actually interviewed the "Service Heros" - people who go extra miles for their customers and asked them what is service means to them and why they go extra miles for their customers. The host will also interviewed the customers and asked them why they liked this particular service personnel.

On top of that, the host will also interviewed the top management of a particular organisation on how they train their staff and present the environment to the customer so that not only the customer enjoys the experience in the store but also enjoys the services provided by the staff.

Towards the end of the show, Mr Ron Kaufman (The service guru that i mentioned in my previous post. He is also the author of 'Up your service!') will give some advice on services. Mr Ron Kaufman is also the series consultant for this show.

Therefore, I strongly encouraged you to watch this show every tuesday, on channel 5, 7.30pm. This is definitely an eye opener and educational programme for all of us. Regardless of whether we are working in the service line or not, all of us are service providers. We are the internal customers in our company. If all of us provide good service to our colleagues in the various departments, then the whole company will prosper as a whole as there is team spirit and unity in the company.

Imagine Life Without the Tourism Industry ... So Sad N Bad

Today and tomorrow, there is a job fair for Vivo City - the new shopping experience besides Habourfront that is coming up in a few months time.

There are many job openings in both the retail industry and f&b industry and these companies are going to be the new tenants of Vivo City.

Recently, the government of Singapore has been emphasing alot on the tourism industry with its aim of dont-know-how many thousands or millions of tourists it aims to attract by dont-know-which year. The government also announced the launch of the intergrated resort in Singapore in the near future. Recently, there are many international bodies and organisations coming to Singapore for important meetings and conference such as IMF and World Bank.
Because of these plans and events coming up in the future, the government also recently set up a new team who consisted of a few top managers in the tourism industry and they set up "GEMS - Go Extra Mile for Service" and they come up with new ideas to improve our level of services in Singapore.

With these introductions, one can easily see that there will be a huge boost in the tourism industry with lots of new jobs openings in the various new set up shopping centres and resorts. This will be a very exciting industry to watch out for since this industry is going to boost our local economy.

However, sad to say, our local mindset, especially the older generation, do not think very positively to those working in the tourism industry. They see it as an industry where all those aunties and uncles work as they don't have much skills and education or a place for the young ones to work part time during the school holidays and definitely not a full time job especially if you are a graduate with a diploma and higher.

Because of this mindset, one can see that sometimes some customers are real nasty to the service staff even though it is of no fault of the service staff. Some customers are very proud of themselves for being so well educated and so well rich that they actually put up airs and look down on the service staff and belittled the service staff. They can actually twist their words and make complains to the managers as though it is the service staff who is at fault.

True that this industry is a tough line to be in with all the shift work and working in the public holidays and weekends too and dealing with the nasty customers. But don't forget, this industry does need these educated people with qualifications of diploma and above to hold the managerial positions and to come up with new and exciting ideas to bring the company to new heights.
If all of us hold this view that this industry is not suitable for those with higher education, then we will have a serious problem in this industry since we are lacking of new talents to improve the industry as a whole. If this industry remains stagnant, then it is useless for the government to have such an ambitious tourist target and plans to set up more resorts and attracting world renowned organisations to come to Singapore for meetings.

As what Mr Ron Kaufman (he is the Asia's leading champion for impeccable customer service and is the founder of "Up Your Service College") has said, there are 6 levels of services offered and there is still quite a distance away for the local tourism industry to reach the best service levels in the world. The 6 service levels are: Criminal (Worst), Basic, Expected, Desired, Surprising and lastly, Unbelievable! (Best - That means that you are so good that your customers will keep coming back to you again and again and again) =>

Furthermore, a lot of us are very interested to live a comfortable life after our retirement. It has been known that being an employee for the rest of our lives do not promise us to live comfortably, but starting our own successful business is one of the ways to live a comfortable life.
Comparing B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to consumers), it would be better for us to have a B2C business especially for a just start up firm. This is because your customers will pay you cash and you will have credit terms with your suppliers. It is a very important issue to manage the cashflow effectively for the company for basic survival.
The tourism industry is a very broad industry that consists of both the retail and f&b industry, therefore there are many options for you to choose from to start up your own business. But before you start up your own business, it's best for you to gain some experience first by working in the company that is in the same line which you want to set up your business.

Therefore, with this parting note, I hope that I can see more new talents especially the young ones in this industry so that we can boost the overall tourism industry in Singapore and make Singapore one of the must go destinations in the world for all purposes, be it for business or for leisure.

What is Life? WHat is our Purpose of being here?

Have you ask yourself this question -- what is life? what is our purpose of being here in this world?

Is it because to experience suffering? or because to experience happiness? or is it because of both?

Some of us just want a simple life. That means from study, to working, to marriage, to having kids, to taking care of kids, to enjoying retirement, to death.

Some of us want a fulfilling life with the achievement of all the goals and dreams.

And during this journey of life, we are faced with a lot of events that leads us to different emotions... ... being happy, sad, delighted, frustrated, joy, anger, etc.

Because of these emotions, it can be so impactful that determines whether you enjoy your life or not.

On top of that, because of the society's demand, sometimes we have to continue to work hard even though we may not like it or enjoy it, even we just want a simple life.

Because of all these daily circumstances, we will find that life is not as easy as we may want to be.

We are always working hard for basic survival and needs, to the extent that some of us may lost our purpose in life.

Moreover, life is very fragile. We never know when is our dead line. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, next month, next year, next 5 years, next 10 years ... ...

We are always working hard thinking of having better life in our old age, but we never expect we may not have a chance to reach old age too. Or we may be thinking we will never reach old age, thus spend all the money when we are young and yet who knows? We are still around when all our family and friends have already left us and yet we dont have a single penny with us...

So is it better to work hard and died young without enjoying life? or is it better to enjoy life but not working hard and died old and suffer?

Some of us may even come across situations where we actually experienced the death of our friends when we are still in school... ... so why their life is so short that they never really get a chance to experience it?

Life is really very fragile ... so make full use of each day of your life ... be glad that there is another brand new day ... even though life is fragile ... future planning is very important too ... as you may live till very old age without your choice ... savings is important but also learn to rest and relax and enjoy yourself at times ... dont play too hard without work hard and not work too hard without play hard ... we need to have a balance of both.

Also remember health is wealth too ... no point in having wealth without health. Rest and Sleep well too.

Why Men don't Get It N Women don't Get It Too???

Today, I went for a seminar and the speaker was Mr Allan Pease, author of the Bestseller Books - Why Men Don't Listen and Why Women Can't Read Maps; Men Are From Mars and Women Are From Venus.

This is a very enriching and educational seminar to let the opposite sex understand each other better. It is an eye-opener too when he discussed the huge differences between men and women. I shall not go into the details of the differences here. If you are interested to find out more, you can go to his website to check it out.

The question to ponder is ... ...

Why are the breakups and divorce rates so high? And yet why some couples can managed their relationship for so long and they are always seem so in love with each other for so many years?

I guess is how we handle the problems ...

We know that there are huge differences between men and women. But when the differences occur, some of us know how to react positively to the differences and understand the differences and thus manage to converge and come up with a win win solution for both.

But for some of us, when the difference occurs, we choose to be firm on our own point of view and refuse to budge or refuse to put ourselves in the other party's shoes and choose not to discuss the problems. When the problems keep mounting high up to a height of a mountain, we can't take it anymore and say "That's it. I don't want to continue anymore". And this leaves with a sad ending.

We like / love our partners, because we are different, we are opposites, thus the term "opposite sex". If we choose someone who is the same / similar as us, then we will be bored! But if we don't know how to manage our differences well, problems arise again.

Like the example that Mr Allan Pease had given us - his teenage daughter is very excited about her new boyfriend, saying that he is very cute and she enjoys finding things for him which he can't see (common characteristics of men who 'can't see' things at a near distance). But after one year of courtship, she tells her father that she had enough of him cos this stupid man can't even find the butter in the fridge which is staring right in front of him! Hehehe.

So what is the solution to this problem then?

The solution is to accept that men and women are different, but we must respect and give way to each other and compromise with each other, so that the relationship can continue to grow and bloom.

Dating does not ends with marriage. In fact dating continues after marriage cos it provides the opportunity to love each other more and know each other better and add value to the marriage. Like what Mr Allan Pease had said "In the workplace, he and his wife are equal. But on a social and personal level, he is the man of the family protecting and care for his wife and family. And his wife is happy too, cos this is what all women want - to have a man to love and care for her and he is happy too cos he can bring out the characteristics of a man and be a real hero in his wife's eyes."

So open your heart and let your love flows ...

Don't worry about what the future holds for you...

The FISH! Philosophy -- Part 2!!

Hi hi, my dear friends ... ...

It has been two weeks since I last posted the Fish! Philosophy article in my blog. So have you implemented any of the four philosophy? Or you have implemented them all? That's GREAT! It's so fantastic! Did you implement it in your working place, your school, with your family or with your friends? So how is the result? Excellent? Oh my oh my, I am so happy for you! So did you feel the impact of how such a four simple philosophy can have such a positive tremendous effect on you?

OR till now, you have did nothing after reading the article? Do you still continue the monotonous way of life, feeling so tired and just can't seem to get enough rest and play? Do you have the sense of satisfaction and achievement from your work, study and relationship with others? Are you satisfied of what you are having now or doing now? Do you want to achieve more, be happier, be more satisfied, etc?

As for me, I did implement the philosophy on one of my colleagues by 'playing' and 'making her day' (playing and making their day belongs to the Fish! Philosophy) through doing one simple action for her. That action only caused me less than five minutes but the impact on her was so great that she was so happy throughout the day and she even shared her happiness with the rest of the colleagues by showing the rest what I have done for her and thus also leading to the rest of the colleagues to be very happy and delighted too ... ... very 'contagious' effect. HeHeHe. I never expect the result is so great as I thought only my colleague will be happy but never thought that the whole department will be happy too.

So what are the three commitments of the Fish! Philosophy once you learnt about the philosophy: -

1) Find IT. This is the primary commitment to sustain the vision that you holds in the various aspects for your life. For example, your vision for your friendship is to be a good friend who can be there for your friends when they need you. Not just play and have fun.

2) Live IT. This means that you have various action plans to actually carry out the IT that you mention in Point 1. For example, you can give your friends some advice when they meet any problems. You can share with your friends what you have learnt from others so that your friends can also 'grow' intellectually, spiritually or physically. You can give them little surprises to make their day. You can be proactive in talking to them and to let them know that you are always be there for them, etc.

3) Coach IT. This means that you actually teach others what you practiced so that everybody can guide and teach one other and keep each other motivated and grow to greater heights. So you teach your friends what you learnt and practised and your friends teach their friends what you taught them and so on and so forth.

This is more of a personal example. If you apply the three commitments to the Pike Place Fish Market case, their IT under 'Point 1 - find IT' will be to be the world famous fish market that everybody knows and everybody will visit when they go to Seattle. They achieve this by implementing the four Fish! Philosophy which are Play, Make Their Day, Be There and Choose Your Attitude.

They definitely 'Live IT' by having some much fun in their work and also bringing lots of smiles and laughters to those people who are watching them playing. Why they have so much fun is because they choose their own attitude by choosing it to be very positive.

And last but not least, they 'Coach IT' by teaching their new staff how to play, make customers' days, be there for the customers and choose to have positive attitude when they are working. Because of these three commitments, they achieve what they wanted to do and not only that, they are so successful that they actually have a website and allow online ordering for customers ... ... Wow Wow ...

In this link, you get to see short clips how they actually have fun at their workplace and how they make customers happy and thus making customers come back again and again.

Today, I went to East Coast Park to have a cycle. It have been a long time that I did not do any cycling to an extent that I even forgot when was the last time I went ... ...

Seeing today is a good day with nice weather, I decided to go for a ride, to do some exercise.

It had been a good experience as the weather is very good with lots of sea breeze. There are sounds of sea waves breaking the shore, birds chirping around, doggies running around happily and sweet smell of the crisp tree leaves.

Since it was a 2 hour ride, I stopped at East Coast Lagoon Hawker Center to buy some curry puffs (I heard that the curry puffs there is good) and continue my journey to Bedok Jetty ...

This is the part where the experience is terrific. I found one seat and make myself comfortable. I took out my hot piping crispy curry puff, my chilling ice water and most importantly, my book! Hehehe. I started reading my book and enjoy my tea break at the same time. HHHmmmm .... taste so good ... Yummy, Yummy ... ... So I get to replenish my depleted energy and I also get to improve mentally with new knowledge ... ...

And I get to see those fishes swimming in the water enjoying themselves. *Reminds me of Walt Disney's Movie - The Little Mermaid. "Under the sea, under the sea, nobody eat us, nobody fry us as a cuisine"* Kinda cool to immerse myself in the natural surroundings with no hustling and bustling of city life. Also get to enjoy natural aircon which is much better than our artificial aircon in the office. What a heavenly feeling .... aaahhhhh ....

Then somebody broke the silence and serendity of the surrounding. One of the men was talking very loudly and jumping up and down? Y? cos he caught a big fish (To him it is big but it is not those big fishes that you see in the market). Kinda cute to see someone so happy about his catch. Good for him. You can see the zest in his eyes after that and he is so motivated to continue his fishing, hoping that he can catch something even better. His friends also shared his joy and zest that they also become more motivated to continue their fishing.

(That is what life is all about. We work so hard in order to get some returns for our effort. If our returns are more than what is expected, then we will be so delighted and motivated and put in more effort, hoping to achieve more. If we work so hard and our returns are very meager, then we lost the zest of working. Some of us may change job and some of us may become robots - work for the sake of salary and nothing else. That leads to each of us having different paths. So whether you want to achieve the returns you expected from your work or not or becoming a robot, the choice lies in your hands. So what is your choice?)

Shortly after, a loud 'ZZzzooommm' past by. I looked up and saw our big brother -- SIA -- bringing business to Singapore and boost our economy. So it's kinda of ironic, as here am I, relaxing myself and there is he - our dear Mr Pilot - working so hard to make sure that he drove the plane safely to Singapore and bring business to our country.

(We trade our skills for salary to survive but we sacrifice our time. Due to the fast pace of the society, there will be a lot of time where we actually spend much more time in our work than what is stated in the contract for our working hours. So much so that sometimes we will find that we are underpaid.

And also due to the increase of our standard of living, we are expecting more and demand more material things to satisfy our ongoing requests for more wants. With higher demands, we work even harder and harder so as to earn more OT pay or even have a promotion with higher salary. So we actually stuck in this rat race, keep working very hard with higher salary and buy more material things. Yet we actually sacrifice our time for spending some good quality time for ourselves to do what we want do.

Here am I spending some time for myself and yet the economy still continues to move, continues to grow, and our dear Mr Pilot is still working very hard now, when I am typing this. Hehehe. So it takes everybody's effort to grow the economy but it does not takes everybody's effort to continuously 24 hours everyday to grow the economy. When the economy grows, you get to benefit from it. But if you did not maintain your well-being, the society or economy will not stop for you, it will still continue what it suppose to do. So at the end, it is U, ONLY U who will suffer.)

Good time always pass so fast, two hours is up and my ride is over. But good time is not over yet. As now is shopping time!!! I walked to parkway parade to shop around. Not forgetting that there is a pet shop in the neighborhood. Time to go and see my dear dear friends --- doggies, kitties, fishes, bunnies, hamsters .... Wow .... So many friends .... So happy!!!!

So? When is the last time U actually spend some quality time for Urself? (This is especially important to those who always work OT. Does it worth it? The extra time you spend at work = the OT pay or job satisfaction you get?) Hhhmmm ... ...

The FISH! Philosophy

Recently my company organize the FISH! Program for all the staff. Yesterday I went for the class and it's an eye opener.

I had read the FISH! book (by Stephen Lundin) before and this program that I just went would be a revision for me.

This FISH! Philosophy comes about from this company - Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle where all the fishmongers there LOVE their job so much that they are having FUN while working and they don't seem like working at all, just PLAYING. Because of this, many people would specially come to buy fish from them, because they like to see the fishmongers having so much fun and this would bring a smile to their face as well. The fishmongers even invite their customers to join in the fun with them and it really brightens up the customer's day.

Basically there are 4 main FISH! Philosophy that helps the fishmongers to bring out the magical moments in their job: -

Play. Play helps to lighten up the whole working place and reduce the stress level of individual. Play can also helps to bring out creativity in individual and may helps to improve various aspects of the job in the whole working place, since you can think better and deeper if you are not stressed up.
Make their day. This is applicable to serving your customers (both internal and external). You help to brighten up their day by showing genuine interest in them and showing appreciation for things that they did for you. To tell them that you know what they did and you like it.
Be there. This applies where you put in effort to listen to your customers (both internal and external), understand what they are feeling and to show that you will be there for them whenever they need you.
Choose your attitude. Nothing is more important than have a positive attitude. If you have a positive attitude, nothing can beat to that and you may even influence your colleagues to change their attitudes as well. If everyone has a positive attitude, then the end results that the department / company will achieve will be tremendous.

Of cos, when you read this, you may say things like "its easier said than to be done", "I would be happy if my boss accept this idea and change for the better", etc. But if you think deeper, this all boils down to individual, cos if we did all these 4 philosophy, it is ourselves that benefit the most, not others. You will find that you become a better person and you enjoy your work much better and become even better in the future. Your boss may not be what you hope he/she is, but it does not matter. As you live your life for yourself, not for others. What is most important is you feel happy and satisfied. All of us have a lot of choices in our hands. We have full control of what the choices that we are going to make. So are you going to make the choice today and start these 4 philosophy and make your life better?

This philosophy is not only applicable to your job, it also applicable to your family and friends as well. So remember, no matter what you do everyday, always remember the FISH! Philosophy and bring your life to greater heights!
