A photographic diary of my life

I love the farmer's market

2010-05-30T19:13:00.001-05:00

Not only did I see my assistant do a flash mob - irish dancing style, I also bought these beautiful flowers, granola, focaccia bread and lime marmalade. Andy had a homemade breakfast burrito. Honestly,it doesn't get better than this.

rabbits

2010-05-25T19:54:00.003-05:00

We had a little den of 5 baby rabbits at Easter in our garden. The rabbits that visited our yard tonight are 2 juveniles from this original den.

Random Park in Douglas County

2010-05-23T12:12:00.002-05:00

Today we went to Vinland Nursery and found a random park with a tower. So of course we stopped and climbed the tower - this is the view. Looks like England.

Julia's Mother's Day Project

2010-05-09T17:13:00.001-05:00

Julia wanted to make me a cake for Mother's Day. She did help - some. I hope it tastes as good as it looks!

Early Mother's Day Present

2010-05-08T23:10:00.001-05:00

A lovely dinner at 715 (on Massachusetts), browsing at the Dusty Bookshelf and the movie, The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo.

Garden Progress

2010-04-28T19:20:00.003-05:00

I hope this year will be a good garden year. So far we have lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes and a cucumber. I think that we may have also planted some beans and carrots but we'll see how well they do!

Genetics

2010-04-27T21:21:00.003-05:00

I think it is crazy how much Alex looks like his cousin Max. You can check Max out at http://hecticmompics.wordpress.com/2010/04/23/bubba-in-hiding/. The beauty of genetics.

Petworld

2010-04-25T15:47:00.003-05:00

For those of you who are not from Lawrence - there is a crazy pet store called Petworld. It is always busy and the staff is limited. However - we won a 5 gallon fish tank last weekend and $30 gift card! Woo-hoo!!

It must be spring -aka tornado season!

2010-04-24T19:08:00.001-05:00

So far there isn't a tornado watch...
Sorry it's been so long since my last post - I am going to strive to do better!!

Easter Eggs!

2010-03-28T18:12:00.001-05:00

You know it's Spring when it is time to dye Easter Eggs. I think Andy has more fun then the kids.

Introducing Maya the hamster

2010-03-27T12:33:00.000-05:00

This is Maya the hamster. She sleeps during the day and is up running in her wheel all night - kind of like Alex :) Julia earned the right to get Maya because she passed her whole reading book!

Afternoon teaparty for Red the Puppet Panda

2010-03-21T16:06:00.002-05:00

We are having an afternoon birthday tea for Red the Puppet Panda. Red was made courtesy of Julia at Puppet Camp at Lawrence Arts Center during her Spring Break Puppet Camp. Cool! I don't know why Alex took off his shirt.

After - bleh!

2010-03-20T08:10:00.001-05:00

Well - I am surprised to see snow on the first day of Spring...but not too surprised. This is Kansas.

Before...

2010-03-19T19:09:00.001-05:00

Before what is supposed to be the last (I hope) snowstorm of the year. I will take a picture in the same spot tomorrow night for comparison.

Bad Blogger! Bad! Bad!

2010-03-15T20:35:00.003-05:00

Sorry if you actually read this blog. I have been busy with - well - everything! I like this picture -I thought that Alex is starting to look a lot like me!

BBQ - Hooray!

2010-03-14T20:51:00.000-05:00

Had a nice Sunday BBQ lunch at a KC legendary restaurant.

Alex and Baby Jay

2010-03-12T20:40:00.003-06:00

Seems like I have been posting a lot of pictures of Alex but I promise that I am not playing favorites! Alex got a visit from Baby Jay at pre-school. What a lucky kiddo!

I wish it was spring!

2010-02-21T15:07:00.004-06:00

It snowed at least 3 inches today. So, we were all stuck in the house all day. We made playdough, watched TV and played Easy Bake Oven. Here is Julia after eating her brownies ala Easy Bake.

Snowy winter day

2010-02-20T15:10:00.003-06:00

It is a snowy winter day again! Instead of going to Wichita, the kids got to go to the mall instead - hardly a win for anyone. Both kids got to go to Build-a-Bear. Julia is holding her new dog, Lucky - a Portuguese Water Dog. Alex got a monkey named (by Andy), Koko.

Home Improvement - again!

2010-02-15T20:58:00.003-06:00

It has been almost a month since my last post. As you can see from the photo - we have painted the kitchen! I know you didn't know what it looked like prior to painting - so you are just going to have to take my word on this. In fact, the whole house is done and painted - which is why I haven't posted in a month. I especially like the two-tone effect with the living room color and the kitchen/dining area intersecting.

Home Improvement!

2010-01-25T21:37:00.003-06:00

Andy and I are in the middle of home improvement. We are making a big push while we still have some momentum! It is tough to find time to do this with two busy kids (see posts below).

Cold January Day

2010-01-24T21:16:00.003-06:00

The sun was out for about 2 hours this morning which inspired me to make a lot of plans for the day that included time at the park. Of course, by the time we reached the park it was cold and grey. It is supposed to snow tomorrow (again!). Although Julia was only wearing a skirt, she braved the weather the best out of the four of us - I guess being five helps!

Tea Time!

2010-01-23T17:17:00.003-06:00

This cute children's tea pot was a gift from Grandma Rosie to the children. For fun, today for snack we had "tea" - really Crystal Light Peach Tea (cold) and some awesome chocolate chip scones! Thanks Rosie!

Belated Post/ Belated Birthday

2010-01-18T12:49:00.007-06:00

Both Alex and Alex's grandma, Pat have the same birthday! We went to Wichita to celebrate and ate at Savute's. Savute's is a wonderful old-style restaurant that was started in the late 30's or early 40's. I loved eating here with my grandparents and have wonderful memories of this place!

My drug of choice

2010-01-13T18:56:00.003-06:00

I had to devote at least one picture to the most important appliance in our household. For example, Alex work up today at 4:50 a.m. - this means we fired this baby up this morning and tonight! Maybe tomorrow's picture will feature some people...
