Messier 83 aka M83

2011-11-12T11:56:00.000-08:00

I can't recall the first time that I listened to M83, but they're latest double album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming is really good. You may have heard the most popular track on a recent Victoria's Secret commercial. It's amazing hook is just so catchy, you'll repeat it for hours in your head.. here's a look/listen to that part..

Oddly enough I had never taken the time to wonder why they called themselves M83. Well, in speaking with my musical BFF colorcritical, he informed me that they chose the name after this spiral galagy, the Messier 83.

Here is a great image based on Hubble data http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap111111.html

So cool. Just goes to show you that we are such a small part of such a MASSIVE universe.

Here is the official video for Midnight City, just released.

EDIT: very cool remixes of Midnight City here and a track by Man Without Country here

The Chapman Stick

2011-05-12T14:15:00.000-07:00

At the Artwalk in San Diego the other day, I noticed this gentleman playing an odd looking guitar-like instrument. Turn out, it's called a chapman stick. Very cool little gadget that works based in tapping the strings bs strumming them like a guitar. Google chapman stick an check out some play, it's very cool.

Mumford & Sons trending in Twitter

2011-02-16T16:21:00.000-08:00

Interesting that Mumford & Sons is so popular now. I heard them quite a while back and instantly loved them. I'm really glad that they have received radio play and have been "discovered" by the public as well. Bravo!
