Some people don’t understand why I love Disney World so much, why I visit the parks as often as possible on vacation, or run a website on all things Disney. But Disney is more than just a bunch of theme parks and a Mouse and sometimes it takes a Disney fan to know one… which is why when I’m not working on my own Disney blog I like to hang out at these ones:

Picnic in the Park at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you ask people what food they expect to find at any of the Disney themeparks most people will say hamburgers and fast food. If you are looking forward to a Disney vacation but dreading a week of fast food then you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out that Disney themepark food isn’t your usual cardboard fast food affair – there are many healthy options available at both counter service and table service restaurants throughout the parks. If you’re heading over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom then you now have another option – a Picnic in the Park.

The Picnic in the Park option is just what it says – you order a family meal when you enter the park in the morning and then at lunch time you collect your picnic – in a fabulous “Every Tree Has Character” reusable bag which you’ll be able to use back home. You then head to one of many designated ‘picnic spots’ throughout the park and enjoy your entree, side dish, dessert, and bottle of water. Captain EO in 3D Coming to a Living Room Near You

The death of the infamous king of pop Michael Jackson last week has seen the Internet and Music stations flooded with pop videos from his hay day -- but for the Disney fans amongst us we will remember Michael Jackson from the time he starred as Captain EO in Epcot’s 3D movie.

Bay Lake Tower – DVC Walkthrough Video

I know a lot of people are avidly awaiting the opening of the Bay Lake Tower Villas so that they can stay in this great new Disney Resort which has stunning views of the Magic Kingdom and Cinderella Castle.

Check out the video below for a tour of the new Bay Lake Tower Resort, including a trip across the walkway between the Contemporary Resort and the BLK, a peek inside one of the Grand Villas and a look at the fireworks viewing platform.

Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration was short lived

If you were hoping to see Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration at the Magic Kingdom this summer then I’m afraid you’ve missed the boat. I think this has to be one of Tomorrowland’s most short lived attractions as it closed on June 27, 2009 -- a spokesman from Disney said there are no plans to amend or reopen the show -- or any other show in that location.

Disney do evaluate their attractions on an ongoing basis so my guess is that this one just wasn’t as popular as they anticipated -- and so it has been closed down.

Magic Kingdom Wishes FIreworks Spectacular – Video

If you are heading out to the Magic Kingdom then you absolutely have to stay for the Wishes Fireworks Spectacular at the end of the day. The fireworks explode over Cinderella Castle in time to some of your favourite Disney songs and the whole show is compered to our friend Jiminy Cricket. Look out for Tinkerbell’s flight and the visit from the Blue Fairy. This show is really not to be missed! Whether you are looking forward to your first visit and you want a taste of what is to come -- or you are a long-time Magic Kingdom Wishes fan looking for a fix -- check out the great video below.

Disney World Shoes – What Are The Best Shoes for Disney World?

Today we need to talk about Disney World shoes. A Disney World vacation is not for the faint hearted – you could be on your feet for up to 16 hours a day and you will walk miles at each theme park. This means you need a good pair of shoes for Disney World – kitten heels may look cute but your feet will complain all day!

What Are The Best Shoes for Disney World?

So the question you need to ask is what are the best shoes for your Disney World vacation? They need to be comfortable, worn in and let your feet breathe. If you want to buy new shoes for your vacation make sure you take some time to wear them in before your vacation. New shoes generally result in blisters otherwise – and you don’t want blisters on your vacation.

Some people swear by flip flops, and you see many people wearing them in the parks. Personally I keep my flip flops for the Water Parks, I just don’t think they offer enough support for a long day walking around the parks.

Other people think that their sneakers are the best shoes for their Disney vacation. To be honest I used to be in this camp – but the main problem with sneakers is that your feet get hot and that can be uncomfortable.

I think the hands down best shoes to wear to Disney are Crocs. Yes, I know, you probably think they look hideous and wouldn’t be seen dead in a pair. But your feet will thank you for them! My husband used to laugh at my Crocs until I bought him a pair for our last trip. He has size 15 feet and I could only get hold of a bright red pair so he was reticent about wearing them. But after a couple of days admitted that they were in fact more comfortable than his sneakers – and while he would never wear them in the ‘real world’ he’s now a Crocs convert for our Disney World vacations

Crocs can take some getting used to so if you are going to take the plunge I recommend you buy yourself a pair and practice walking in them a few weeks before your trip.
