Dissappearing Act!

Can we say transformation? Kelly Osbourne is looking great and feeling even better! Her weight has been going going and GONE! She revealed to In Touch magazine that she lost 15 pounds and lost the weight by becoming “more conscious of what I eat and what I don’t.” She explained that her dieting consists of cutting back on soda, microwave use, and by keeping a positive frame of mind.

“I find that when I get depressed, that’s when I gain it all back. But as soon as I start working and I’m productive and I feel good about myself, the weight just goes.”

It's funny because it sounds so easy and simple but like she stated to In Touch everyone is different and everyone has a different shape. It's hard to believe that only 15 pounds has made such a huge difference already with her appearance, and by the looks of it, she's definitely much healthier and much happier! Keep it up Kelly!

Oh Oscar!

Yes I know it's been waaay too long since I made a post [please refrain from the side eye pweeeease]. But what better time for me to return than during the Oscars! Hey, what can I say? I couldn't stay away too long of course! =)

So the Oscars were a snore-fest for the most of the evening, like usual, but who really watches for the awards anyways? Ha! Actually, I do, but I digress...the most important part of the Oscars is the FASHION! This was a toughy because there were a lot of great looks on the Red Carpet this year. I loved Cameron Diaz's glam look, Rachel McAdams earthy gown and Kristen Stewart won me over with her chic and sophisticated gown. but there can only be 1 winner, so after much deliberation [with myself of course] I finally picked my best and worst dressed humans who happen to be celebrities. Check them out!

BEST DRESSED FEMALE: Demi Moore! I love the flesh blending color, the fit, and who can resist light and airy ruffles that resemble a silk ocean of waves.

BEST DRESSED MALE: Tom Ford of course! He always looks dapper and oh so handsome. If anyone knows how to pull off a suit, it's the former Gucci designer himself! And I love that he's one of the few men who can pull off a carnation on his lapel.

WORST DRESSED FEMALE: Sarah Jessica Parker. This was a total dissappointment for me because I love SJP but then again some of her looks have been questionable throughout her career. You either love it or hate it and this time...HATED IT! The fit is so awkward and unappealing. She would've been better off just going naked. OUCH!

WORST DRESSED MALE: Robert Downey Jr. First of all I can't stand anyone who wears shades on the red carpet. That bow tie...NO! The sneakers with the suit... double NO! NO and NO! That is all. And did I say no? On the bright side...his date looks lovely. :)

Ummm, I'm going to need a little bit more of an exciting teaser than that. Eh, either way I'll go see it. I almost feel obligated to since I've seen all the episodes and the last movie. I just hope it doesn't dissappoint. I mean what else could possibly happen after the last movie's "happy ending". Hopefully some kind of dramz or else I may have to ask for my money back! Hey... going to the movies ain't cheap now a days! I could buy 2 combo meals at any of my favorite delicious fast food restaurants Richmond has to offer for 1 movie ticket!

The beloved style icon and pop star that is Robyn Rihanna Fenty covers GQ mag this month and reveals more bout her life after "the incident" and her new album "Rated R". She is coming back harder and stronger this time around and is making it clear that she is not a "victim" but she is actually victorious. As you can see, she definitely revealing more than just information in this month's issue of the men's magazine, but hey, it IS a men's magazine, right? So it only makes sense, if only this was the only half naked spread she's done recently. You can see she is finally shedding that good girl image that lots of record execs favor with new artists and is feeling more and more comfortable in her own skin, especially when everyone is watching. Peep some of her interview below.

On her reaction to her face after "the incident":

"Initially. I would say the first…the first seventy-two hours after I realized, it hit. The entire thing was kind of a daze. I was confused. It was a little weird, but…but then, after, I was getting bored of being in the house and sittin’ around. I called Jay Brown—he’s my A&R—and I was like, “I want to get back to the studio. I want to get back.”

If she will ever speak to Chris Brown again:

"Mmm. Maybe in like ten years, you know? But it’s not something that I’m depending on. I’m not depending on his friendship".

What she would tell other victims of assault:
"Um…really really really that love is blind… After everything happened, it was a wake-up call to me… I didn’t realize how much of an effect it had on young girls’ lives, and that’s part of the insight that I wanna give. Stop blaming yourself for that outcome. There’s nothing you can do, ever, to excuse a man’s behavior like that."-

How her mentor helped her get through it all:

"Me and Jay-Z, we have a very close relationship, so he was there helping me through it and giving me advice and guidance, and just words of support. Like, strength".

On people's misperceptions about her:
"They just don’t understand me. I just think people straight up don’t know who I am; they just know what I look like, they know the idea of me. But—they’ll learn more this time, because now I let my guard down, and I’m more comfortable just being myself. That’s exactly what I want to be. And even on the album, you definitely get a gist of my personality".

On her cover shoot with GQ:
"It’s very sexy, yeah. At one point [chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group] L.A. Reid came into the shoot, and he was like, “Rihanna, put some fucking clothes on!”

Cassie Ventura is one of the most stylish artists of our generation. With her exotic beauty and savvy sense of style, one would say she's the complete package, an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. Her swag is so off the meters that it's incomparable. I don't mind Cassie as an artist, there's a few songs she's come out with that have made me sway or nod my head, but it's her sense of style that has really captured eyes. She masters the essence of urban chic with a little edge, a little glitz, and a little... half shaved head. With a mixed ethnic background of Filipino, Mexican, and African American, it's no doubt Cassie's got the whole LHLS [long haired, light skinned] dream girl down to the "T". Not everyone can pull off a half shaven head and still be beautiful and make it chic enough to even inspire other celebs [LaLa Vazquez] and regular Janes to daringly take the same fashion risk. Not only does she not fear a pair of hair clippers, but she's fearless with her style choices like mixing prints and bright colors together, rocking studded and endlessly strapped shoes that are 5 inches tall, and even pairing leathers and faux furs like a true rockstar.

Nicole Richie was definitely the hottest little boho Maternity girl in '09!

One of my fave Boho Chic stylistas, Vanessa Hudgens.

She's worked so hard to get her body to the top level of fab that she is at now. I confess, I purchased her "Fit in Your Jeans by Friday" dvds, and thanks to those dvds, I see why her body is so Bikini amazing!

The First Lady herself is noted to be the best in Accessible Glamour Style. Since Barack started his presidential campaign, one of the main topics of discussion wasn't just his Health Care Plan or the War in Iraq....but what will Michelle wear? So many women have looked up to Mrs. Obama's style and even duplicate it, trust me, I know. Retail!

Frieda Pinto is a rookie who definitely Colored her way onto the veteran scene.

Beyonce has some great "sidewalk meets the catwalk" style a lot of times. She definitely qualifies as being Street Chic.

Pretty and sweet Taylor Swift knew how to Sparkle on the red carpet this year!

Reese has some great style when it comes to short little numbers and casual cuteness. She was recognized for knowing how to rock a Short Dress.

Kate Winslet reminds me of old Hollywood glamour and beauty with her elegant Red Carpet fashions.

A Slim Review

Well the 2 most highly anticipated and most talked about albums [for me] have been released finally and after giving each of them a good listen I've finally come to form my opinion.

First one up is the monster herself, GaGa!

As you all know I am a huge GaGa fan, but I try not to let that get in the way of forming an objective opinion about her new album the Fame Monster, or with any artist for that matter.

So the verdict is....I love it! I'll admit, I'm one of those people who skims through an album looking for those hot dance tracks with great production work and skip through ballads on the first listen. And GaGa didn't dissappoint as she has plenty of party tracks on her deluxe version of the Fame, but also that great and destructive ballad/ personal favorite of mine "Speechless" which a lot of girls can relate to oh so well. Her unapologetic daringness to be different but at the same time have the ability to relate to her fans is what makes her a true artist. I love the Fame album and even though The Fame Monster only has an appetizer of 8 tracks [sadface] it only makes me anticipate a full new album of songs from the new reigning Queen of Pop. This album really has shown her growth as an artist and writer. Her songs are so relateable with lyrics ranging with everything from a habit for a "Bad Romance", to trying to party the night away but someone wants to blow up your phone all night ["Telephone" feat. Beyonce], and monsters in disguise who eat your heart like in the song "Monster", you can't help but to feel the message of living life to it's fullest no matter what and knowing that it's ok to be different. But in the end of the day she reminds us that she is just like us.

And now on to Rih Rih...

I like to call this album the "Emancipation of Rih Rih" because she has definitely shed the good girl image and revealed her good girl gone bad...forever persona. This album is definitely not what I expected at all. She is very edgy and aggressive and definitely does not hold back. With lyrics like "Six inch walker, big sh*t talker, I never play the victim, I'd rather be a stalker..." on Rockstar 101 to her honesty about her heartbreak with songs like "Cold Case Love", "Stupid in Love", and "Photographs" [feat. Will.I.Am.] you definitely feel like you're listening in on a therapy sesssion. You really get a sense of her confusion and mixed emotions about her life but also a sense of empowerment. She has songs like "G4L", "Hard", and "Rockstar 101" that exemplify her head strong and new no nonsense [otherwise known as "bitchy"] attitude that a lot of girls either dream of having or can already relate to. With many appearances of electric guitars in her productions to her powerful lyrics Rihanna is making it known that you can not and will not mess with her... in many ways. I really enjoy this album and I'm glad to see her find herself and become a little more edgy than your typical pop princess. She's not only emancipating herself through her music but also through her style. She's setting trends and gradually coming up on icon status.

I can predict that 2010 will THE year for both of these talented artists, and I can't wait to see what else they have to offer!

10 Winter Trends You Can't Avoid [And Won't Want To]

Ok so it's basically Winter, or at least the weather's trying to make up it's mind if it is or not, and I'm starting to see some of the most anticipated Winter trends coming out of the wood work. I compiled a top 10 list of trends you will see and probably not be able to avoid for the notorious cold season and where better to look for guidance than some of the top trendsetters themselves? Everyone loves celebrities or loves to hate them, take your pick, but either way you will take notice.

1. Fur vests!

I love this look! I think it adds that bohemian edge that I love oh-so-much! Of course I will definitely rock the faux version of this trend not only because a real piece would cost more than my rent + utilities a month but also because it is animal friendly! Pair this look with some skinny jeans, leggings or a dress with some tights and you're ready to roll out in style!

2. Lace Tights

This look is also one of my faves! I remember the days when I was a little girl and my mom would buy me lace tights, even though I despised all tights during that time. But now I love them and they love me! Ha! This is a nice twist to the average pair of tights you might have stashed in your drawer and can turn a simple outfit like the all black one Miss Swift is wearing into an eye popping look.

3. Thigh High Boots!!!

Now I love this look for so many reasons but 2 of those reasons are very important me: they're cute [duh!] and I'm knock kneed [don't laugh!] so they hide my knees kissing each other on the daily. But I digress...this look is great again for jeans, leggings or dresses considering they cover most of the leg. No to mention they make your legs appear longer for those stubbies out there. They are just a very sessi look, don't you think?!

4. Leather Jackets

Another look I hold dear to my heart is a sharp motorcycle jacket. I mentioned this look in a previous blog post and it looks like this style isn't going away very fast. And I'm glad! I'm a simple girl so personally I'm not a big fan of all zippers and pockets all over my jacket. A couple here or there will do just fine and then STOP! The leather jacket is that one bold piece you only need to add that hard edge to any subtle ensemble. You can pair it with a cutesy top like Vanessa Hudgens did or a simple tee with a scarf and go.

5. Bold Shoulders

Ever since I took notice to Balmain, I have fallen in love with this new look. I think this is one of those trends that either you hate or love, there's no in between. I think this trend makes a very strong statement and is a more modern and appealing version of those damned shoulder pads from the 80s'. I know you remember those. With these shoulders you don't have to do too much accessorizing considering your shoulders will be the main attraction.

6. Head Accessories

You remember how your mom is always telling you to "cover up your head or you'll catch a head cold"! in the dead middle of Winter? I hated that at one time mostly because I found hats so uncomfortable and could never find one that looked good on me. Well the beanie hat is my new best friend. I love that you can fix it to create different versions of the look daily. Beanie hats, military inspired hats, creative headbands, and hair bows are really going to be running things this season, I can see it already!

7. Printed Scarves

This is a look that's still got juice! We saw this last Winter and I'm glad it's still got longevity for this Winter. Scarves are those really easy style toppers for any outfit and appropriate for any occassion. Bold colors and prints makes this accessory such a hit and fit to anyone's personal style.

8. Cardigans

This is a look I love on women and men. I rarely post any men's style on here [which will change!] and this is a trend I love on me and a guy. I just think when I see a guy wearing a cardigan it says a lot about his style and character. Of course it also depends on how he wears it. If his pants aren't sagging below his butt with this then that just might be enough of a winner for me these days. Ha! This is another one of those versatile style pieces to make the outfit.

9. Sneakers!!!

I love sneakers even tho I haven't owned a really good pair in a looonnng time [which again, will change!]. I love to see a female wear them right with a pair of skinnies or a pair of boyfriend jeans. I'm not sure if I would rock a bright pair like the ones Amber Rose is rockin above but they look good on her! I know here on the East Coast that whole 80s' hip hop look is making a strong come back and while I don't agree with every trend from that genre [I would like to retire and bury most of those 80s' trends thank you] but high top sneakers are definitely a fave of mine!

10. Latex Leggings

Again, another trend that seems to be sticking for this new wintery season and I'm not complaining. I absolutely love this trend for the fact that they'll keep your legs warm compared to a lot of other thin leggings out there and they really make your legs look pretty damn good. They're also a cool substitute for actual leather pants which for most...I just don't agree with.

So there you have it, some of this Winter's top trends for you to look out for. Now the question is....which ones will you try? Indulge while the season lasts!

Look of the Day: Twice the Style!

Reality stylistas and friends Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port both had looks this week that I absolutely love! I wanted to post both since they're 2 differenct looks and I of course I was torn between the two.

Being bold and mixing patterns is a favorite of mine. Whitney has a cute ensemble of a horizontal-stripe dress, with leggings and a cute plaid blazer over top. Her earrings and studded pumps are just enough glam for the outfit without taking away the casual cuteness of the look.

Lauren loves her minis [as do a lot of us!] and of course she presents us with another chic little gam-revealing number but tops it with a sequined cardi and sessi strappy heels. Of course she's also rockin' her trademark braid in her hair too. Cuteness!

I call her our generation's Sophia Loren because of her exotic look and sophistication. There is no denying this 23 year old's striking beauty and effortlessly sleek and vintage inspired chicness. Of course, it's only natural that she is a product of the exotic Brazilian descent which is the foundation of her beauty and free spirited personality.

I can't help but to get the "Old Hollywood" aesthetic from her style and timeless beauty. Still young and fresh faced this actress/stylista is definitely going places, I can see it now. You may notice this rising star from films like 10,000 B.C., When a Stranger Calls, and sci-fi thriller Push.

From the red carpet to the sidewalk her style is always clean and tasteful with structural prints, bold colors and classicly framed ensembles. I'm looking forward to seeing what else she has to offer to the fashion and film world.

The Minx Technique!

I have been dying to try this new trend I've seen many celebs sporting lately [i.e. Rih Rih, Solange, Kim Kardashian, etc.] but of course you know the song: bills, bills, bills! Haha, but this is a cleverly growing trend this season and I can see it really blowin' up! Who woulda thought you could really twist the basic nail color and design with something like Minx?

The Minx technique is not used as a liquid and is even a more green alternative to regular nail polish. It's basically a thin layer of material that is applied with a heat source. It doesn't peel and it takes no time to dry! There aren't a ton of nail salons and maicurists that utilize this technique just yet but I'm pretty sure this rising trend will catch on like wildfire!

of course I have declared my undying admiration for Lady GaGa to anyone who will listen, so you know I have a mental countdown to her album re-release of Fame which will be call Fame Monster this time and will include 8 new tracks from GaGita! Her new single "Bad Romance" has been doing extremely well already and she just released her video for it today online. I absolutely love this video, [and not just because I'm a die hard fan] it's creative and of course her costumes are always entertaining alone. Enjoy the fierceness that is GaGa!

A-morir - a la Karin Rose

I definitely heart Karin Rose's accessory designs the more I see them. Her edgy and creative twist on some of the most simple ensemble highlights like sunglasses, hats and neckwear are what have drawn me to research and discover more and more about this breakthrough designer. Recently she did an interview conducted by Rae Holliday of the blog Stuff Fly People Like [by way of NecoleBitchie.com] and I found it quite a teaser but a bit intriguing. I can't wait to see what else this fresh innovator comes up with! How long have you been in business of making accessories?

This November makes it a year. Happy Anniversary to me!!

How did you get started?

Very simply: I embellished a pair of sunglasses for myself. Every time I wore them out I would get a response in a way that I’ve never had to anything I’ve ever worn before. I figured I might be on to something, so I made some to sell. A year later, here i am.

I read in one of your recent interviews that you didn’t personally believe this would become a brand, how do you feel now?

It’s still very hard to believe – again, everything that’s happened has happened in a year. Now that it’s my livelihood it’s completely flipped. It’s true that I never thought this would be a legitimate brand, and it’s become that. According to my accountant I have an innate business sense, so now it’s time to step it up and expand. I’m just going to ride the wave as long as it’s cresting.

Who would be a perfect fit for A-Morrir, your accessory line, and what’s the cost?

I think that everyone is the perfect fit for A-morir, that’s the beauty of an accessory. By nature an accessory is impractical; technically it’s a supplemental element to an ensemble. People think that they’re only for the daring, but my sister is a total J.Crew girl and she rocks a pair of black amadeus sunglasses every day. Anybody can wear anything that I make; all they have to do is put it on.

My non-eyewear pieces range in price from $40 for a single fringe earring to $120 for the mickey mouse ears (that i made a year before the olsen twins wore theirs.. cough cough..) My eyewear ranges from $200-$600 – each pair is hand embellished, mostly with the highest quality swarovski crystals, chains, studs, spikes, secrets badassery and magic.

Celebrities like Rihanna and Katy Perry have been spotted in your accessories, what’s so special about them?

You can add Snoop Dogg and Lady Gaga to that list… along with Jazmine Sullivan, Mariah Carey, Cassie, Dawn Richards, Kid Sister and Melanie Fiona, haaay! One of the most common comments I get from clients is that they haven’t seen anything like what I’m doing. That, combined with the quality, and attention to detail I give to each piece makes it special.

How did you get your designs in the hands of Rihanna?

Her personal shopper had seen my love/hates on a friend of mine, and asked for my information. A month or so later she was at a boutique I used to sell at. They called me to bring my stuff down, and she just really understood what I was doing. She loved everything she saw, including the spiked out sabotage shades, which she bought then and went on to wear in Vogue Italia’s september issue. We’ve developed an artist/designer relationship that I’m really blessed to have.

As a personal friend of Rihanna how does it feel to see her wear your designs?

Rihanna started off as a client, and we have since become friends but it feels great any time any of my friends wear something I’ve designed. All of my friends are people I hold in high regard. My friends are some of the most talented, motivating, intelligent and kind people I have ever met; Rihanna falls into those categories as well. Don’t get it twisted, she hasn’t and doesn’t wear everything I bring to her just because I made it – if it doesn’t fit her style she doesn’t wear it, and I respect her for that.

Who else would you love to see in your designs?

One of the things I hate is that I get emails from guys saying “I know these are women’s shades… can guys wear them too?”

I want more guys in A-morir. I want every entertainer on the Forbes list to shield their eyes with A-morir because their future’s so bright. Corny enough for you? Miss Piggy and Henry Rollins, because they’re the epitome of everything I stand for.

What is the most challenging aspect of the business you are in?

Doing 48 hours of work in the alloted 24! I’m still a one-person company, and the demands to do everything are tough. I also don’t have the benefit of having a design background of any kind, so the technical aspects of production are completely new to me… oh, and coming up with new shit to blow your mind on the regular. After every piece I make I think “Well, that’s it, I’m straight out of ideas” – that is until the next one hits…

What is your advice to up and coming designers?

Know what you’re not good at; Season your passion with a good dose of logic and reason. Passion, hard work and drive are wonderful and will take you very far, but if you’re not the best at something don’t push it. You have plenty of gifts and abilities, so hone in on those. also: trust your guts. Your guts never lie.

Solange Does Honey

In the new edition of Honey magazine Solange dishes about her controversial decision to go au naturale and chop of her hair as well as the negative response she received from the public. It wasn't until she went on Oprah and explained her decision that people decided to praise her for her decision. Honestly I didn't know how to take the new look when she first did it but I've always admired Solange for her bold fashion statements and for even having the courage to be herself without worrying about what people thought of her. And naturally as time progressed I started to like her new do more and more. Not too many people can pull off a look like this and I'm not surprised that Solange did it considering her history of open-mindedness to try new things.

Solange on her hair:

"The first picture of me when I cut it off — I had no idea that there was any photography going on. I was looking like someone taking their kid to school at 7 o’clock in the morning in jeans and a top and no makeup on, no earrings, no nothing. That reaction was very harsh, very negative. I think it was the initial thought of change in someone that freaked everyone out. As a society we equate beauty with the images that have been placed in front of us since we were little kids. Every Disney movie, every fairy tale, every pop star typically has a certain aesthetic and look.

I think that anytime we see something different, it freaks us out. The more people warmed up to it, and they saw more images of me with it and dressed up with my earrings and a little something, something on my face, I think then people were more willing to conform and accept it. Now, it’s interesting how the first day I had it, I had nothing but negative, evil, cruel things in my inbox and then yesterday [after Oprah aired] I had 300,000 people saying ‘Oh my God, you looked amazing, so beautiful, and you made us proud.’ People were able to hear my reasoning, which is good and bad because we should be able to just express ourselves".

I'm really starting to get into Blake Lively's style. She's always so chic and well put together from the red carpet to just a simple stroll down the street. Definitely keeping an eye out for this girl. Loves her emerald green earrings she's wearing. Just enough hint of color to set the look off perfectly from just simple all black. :)

Fall is officially here! :) One of the trends I'm starting to see more and more, especially on celebs, is the thigh high boot! I fell in love with these Stella McCartney ones that Rihanna has been sporting this week. If only I had $1500 to just spend on a pair of boots...sigh. This chick has been all over the internet. Everywhere I click, there she is again. You must commend the girl for staying relevant despite the attention her man Kanye gets alone. I'm noticing more and more that she just may be able to make it on her own tho. She's done plenty of magazine spreads, and even started her own perfume line recently. And you got to give it to the girl...her sense of fashion is killin'. She's credited herself as her own stylist and there's definitely never a dull ensemble on the chick. I underestimated her. I think she's starting to win me over. :)

The best part about award shows is the red carpet fashion pre shows! Or at least that's MY favorite part. Here's some of my favorite looks from the start studded night. Overall, the Emmy red carpet wasn't too bad this year! I was happy to see lots of color: plum, fuschia, turquoise, red, metallics, and more!
