Hi everyone! I’m opening my schedule up for a limited number of pre-con commissions for delivery at Heroes Con 2013 (June 7-9). I’m guessing only 3-4, but if I can get them all finished early I will open up more slots. These are full commissions, NOT con sketches, and will all be completed in warm and cool grey COPIC markers, with no background. I’m going to make a change from what I’ve offered in the past and give everyone two options:

11×14 $150, or 9×12 $100

If you’re interested just drop me a message and we’ll work out all of the details.

I’ll open my actual con sketch list for people a week or so before the convention, and thanks in advance!

Well, that’s it! 39 comics in and we’ve come to the end of Chapter 1/2, which I’ve combined and mushed into one installment. Mostly because a lot of chapter 2 was redundant in a lot of ways, and works better as a pulp chapter than a comic, but also because I know everyone wants to get to Mars. Well, here we go!

In about a month. I’m taking a break to tighten up the script I’ve written for the next installment and to work on getting Chaper 1 reformatted into something that I can make available in a print editions for con season. So never fear – I’m still be producing APoM material, just behind the scenes.

Finally, here’s a video review of Chaper One from Webcomics Top 100:

I’ll see you all back here in a month for Chapter 2: Advent on Mars.

CON SEASON!

Con season is upon us, and I’m confirmed at two so far.

Heroes Con
As always. No table assignment yet, but I’ll be there, drawing my boney butt off.

Comic Book City Con
This is the inaugural year of this small, local convention. Comic Book City Con will be taking place on Saturday, October 26th & Sunday, October 27th of 2013 at the Empire Room in historic downtown Greensboro, NC

I’ll let everyone know when I know things like table assignments, and when I open up for pre-con commissions.

Speaking of commissions:

BUY MY STUFF

Art for sale

Commissions. My rates are cheap. Sometimes I think STUPIDLY cheap

Prints

Finally, while I’m at it, it’s a good time to maybe update everyone on what all I’m working on outside of the comic:

SKETCH CARD SETS

DC Legends: Superman
I’m a redemption artist on the set, and as such created an as-yet-unspecified number of oversized (4″ x 6″) sketch cards. Suffice to say, less than 10. All are jams with the lovely and talented Danielle Gransaull.

Bombshells: Women of War
This set should be out and about any time now. I completed 2 base (printed) cards, and 11 sketch cards.

Spellcasters
The latest set by Perna Studios. Due for release in about a month. I completed a base card and undisclosed number of sketch cards.

Once Bitten: Art of the Vampiress
I’m on this set by Asylum Studios. Set for release in August. It’s too early for me to discuss my contributions.

This is one of the comics that kind of flowed out of me. I think I had it fully penciled in an hour, and inked in another 2 or so. Carter’s arms look a bit long in the first one, but that’s sort of on purpose, as I was playing with perspective a bit. I do kind of wish I had made it more obvious in panel #2 that Powell’s body is covered with Carter’s trenchcoat.

Amazon.com currently have the Kindle edition of John Carter and the Gods of Hollywood available for free. The book description on Amazon:

It took 100 years to bring Edgar Rice Burroughs’ John Carter of Mars to the big screen. It took Disney Studios just ten days to declare the film a flop and lock it away in the Disney vaults. How did this project, despite its quarter-billion dollar budget, the brilliance of director Andrew Stanton, and the creative talents of legendary Pixar Studios, become a calamity of historic proportions?

Michael Sellers, a filmmaker and Hollywood insider himself, saw the disaster approaching and fought to save the project – but without success. In John Carter and the Gods of Hollywood, Sellers details every blunder and betrayal that led to the doom of the motion picture – and that left countless Hollywood careers in the wreckage.

JOHN CARTER AND THE GODS OF HOLLYWOOD examines every aspect of Andrew Stanton’s adaptation and Disney’s marketing campaign and seeks to answer the question: What went wrong? it includes a history of Hollywood’s 100 year effort to bring the film to the screen, and examines the global fan movement spawned by the film.

You can pick it up here. Should be an interesting read.
