I just returned home from a delightful quilt vacation in beautiful Wisconsin. I'd never been to Wisconsin before and came home ready to move there! While traveling to a few area shops I was able to see the most beautiful countryside--farms, fields, barns (even a barn quilt), and gorgeous lakes and rivers. I probably should have taken a lot more pictures, but truly I was just enjoying every <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AQuiltingLife/~4/OSKRF6c1gjI" height="1" width="1"/>

A Sweet Finish

I just realized I never showed the finished pictures of the baby quilt I made a few weeks ago.

I thought the quilting was absolutely perfect for a sweet baby girl...lots of flowers and feathers!

The Anne Sutton Moda fabrics and the Riley Blake border print went together beautifully. It was so fun to finally use these fabrics I'd been saving for a special project!

Happy June...I know we're half-way through the month, but it seems like I'm just getting started with my June organizing goals. I like to organize in January and again at the start of summer, and this week I've been busy making quilt kits from my own stash! My Simply Color jelly roll will soon be a quilt after a few months of sitting on the cutting table!

Three of my "quilt kits" are <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AQuiltingLife/~4/EnA99JHXEX0" height="1" width="1"/>

A Quilting Life Blog Tour--My Day--And Quilt Bliss!

Well, today is the day...you can leave a comment here to enter to win a copy of my book (International winners will receive an e-copy)! The book has 19 projects--2 bags, 3 table runners, 1 table topper, and 13 quilts ranging from wall hanging size to large lap/twin size. I really wanted to write a book with a wide variety of projects that would appeal to beginner quilters and more advanced <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AQuiltingLife/~4/B6wxak2TCao" height="1" width="1"/>

A Quilting Life Blog Tour Day 9

Hello again! Thanks so much for following along! Today's blog tour stop is at Kristyne's of "Pretty by Hand." Kristyne is a fellow C&amp;T author--I was lucky enough to meet her in Houston. We were standing in line together waiting for a SchoolHouse session and suddenly realized we both read each other's blogs! I'm so happy she is joining us for the tour. Actually, she has already made one of <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AQuiltingLife/~4/FknRLaOftH8" height="1" width="1"/>

A Quilting Life Blog Tour Day 8

There are just a couple of more stops on the blog tour--it will be finishing up on Wednesday. Today you'll be visiting with Amy Smart, an incredibly inspiring quilter. I've also been following her blog for several years, and also had a good time visiting with her at market in Salt Lake City and Portland. I am always inspired by her thoughtful and informative blog posts!

There are just a few more stops on the blog tour, and today's stop is at Anna's blog. I've been reading Anna's blog since I first started blogging, and I also met her for the first time in Salt Lake at market! We were able to see each other this year in Portland as well. Anna's blog is delightful. She shares quilting, recipes, humor, travel and more (she recently traveled to Iceland and has <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AQuiltingLife/~4/X4IKjNhvMT0" height="1" width="1"/>

A New Bag...and the Blog Tour Day Six

While at International Quilt Market last month my friend Kaitlyn shared with me a new bag pattern, the Carry On! Travel Bag designed by Annie Unrein. I immediately fell in love with the design, and when Kaitlyn told me a small sewing machine could fit in the bag for travel...well...that's all it took for me to purchase the pattern and put this project at the top of my list. Happy Monday! Today kicks off a little blog tour for my book, A Quilting Life: Creating a Handmade Home. Not only do you have a chance to win a copy of the book at each stop on the tour, but you also get to learn how the amazing quilters on the tour get organized to make sure they are able to have "A Quilting Life."

Today's stop is Nanette from Freda's Hive. After I got the tour all <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AQuiltingLife/~4/qSXqV_ycp6g" height="1" width="1"/>

June Days and Schnibbles

June has arrived, and I'm wondering what happened to May! I hope my June days are a little less hectic than my May days...but we'll see...my son graduates from high school next week, and I have a little traveling to do! Even more crazy is the thought that July is next month! Anyway, happy June, and welcome to the "Gentle Art" Schnibbles parade! I have a lot of quilts to share, and there are <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AQuiltingLife/~4/jIBy1uF5M2M" height="1" width="1"/>

Blogger Girls Block of the Month

Hello...Happy June 1st! If you're looking for the Schnibbles parade it will be posted later this afternoon. This morning I'd like to share the final blocks from the Blogger Girl's Block of the Month quilt designed by Monique Dillard. I have had so much fun making my blocks in blues and creams!

Here are all 12 blocks together--I love the striking designs and patterns!

Yesterday I started a baby quilt for my daughter to take to a baby shower on Saturday (yes, I know...I was cutting it close)! I was actually planning on a simple design, but then I decided to use Heather's new book and ruler as a basis for my quilt (I kind of combined two of her designs from the book). I wish I had a really good photo of this quilt...but the best photos are ones from my phone<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AQuiltingLife/~4/ObiaKtZ0uI8" height="1" width="1"/>

Marcelle Medallion...Quilted

Earlier this year I was pretty much smitten by the "Marcelle Medallion" pattern by Alexia Abegg found in her book Liberty Love: 25 Projects to Quilt &amp; Sew Featuring Liberty of London Fabrics. I meant to take a long time with this project, but as I completed each additional border I just wanted to finish it up. The quilt was pieced from my stash (except for the backing), and I had a lot of <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AQuiltingLife/~4/sgnKJF0qoic" height="1" width="1"/>

Bee Blocks and a Winner

Spring was pretty busy...and my Bee blocks started to pile up! So the first sewing I did after returning home from market was to play catch up for Sinta and Calli! First I made Sinta's blocks, and I have to say I'm absolutely in love with this block. Sinta's modern Dresden blocks were based on this tutorial from Cindy. I will definitely be using this design to make some blocks for me one of <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AQuiltingLife/~4/HTOB1TOflvQ" height="1" width="1"/>

Solids Along Post 5

Welcome to the fifth post in my Moda Bella Solids-Along Series. I have three more blocks to share!

This is Kate Spain's block pieced using Bella Cobalt (9900-227) and Bella 30's Blue (9900-25). You can download the pdf here.

Next I pieced Kathy Schmitz's block using Bella Mango (9900 222) and Bella Capri (9900 225). PDF available here.

It's no secret that I love all things Moda...and as usual, the Moda booth and new designer fabrics did not disappoint.

Here is one of the new quilts by Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic using her new collection Barcelona.

And here are a few other new Barcelona quilts. The Barcelona collection is stunning. Happy Wednesday! I thought I'd start off today's post by sharing the three Moda bundles I couldn't live without from Sample Spree. Clockwise from left are Simply Style by V &amp; Co., Potluck by Sandy Klop, and Sunnyside by Kate Spain! My Moda booth post is almost finished, and I'll share it tomorrow.

One of the booths I visited while at market was the Craftsy booth. It's always fun to see the booths--especially when you are able to see the transformation take place from a messy convention center with forklifts and boxes and packing materials strewn all over the floors to a beautiful showroom with inspiring booths. First up is Allison's booth (Cluck, Cluck, Sew). She always has a darling display and is soooo nice!

I'm home from a whirlwind trip to Portland, Oregon for the Spring 2013 International Quilt Market! Portland is a beautiful city, and I truly appreciated the cool temperatures, cloudy skies, and light rains. I have quite a lot of photos, so I'll break it up into a few posts. Today's post will focus on Day One and some of the quilts I pieced for market.

I was lucky to be able to have a mini "<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/AQuiltingLife/~4/ADcPGRUmL84" height="1" width="1"/>

Market fun

Market has been absolutely wonderful with good people, good friends, and lots of good things to see!

I took a lot of pictures with my camera that I can't wait to share...I have just a few that I took with my phone that I'm using for this post.

It's always fun to see quilts I've pieced---quilted and on display. "Fireworks" (pattern by Camille) is pictured above.....
