My Little Boyfriend

2015-01-14T12:49:00.001-08:00

I love shooting this little man, "When the man in the moon was a little boy..."

My, how he's grown from when we took these to this...

and it's easy to see where his good looks come from!

A Beautiful Song Bird

Beverly Taylor is a Gospel Vocalist. She comes from a family of preachers, musicians and singers. Her father, the late Fletcher Higgins, was an opera singer and a voice coach. Beverly remembers at eight years old, telling her father she could sing the alto section of a song, and that’s when she formally began singing in the Los Angeles area. She is presently a Praise Team member at Arise Christian Center.

First fashion show for us all. And it was a fabulous hit! Let me get to a size 1 and I'm all in these clothes! This was definitely a learning experience for me. You think you know photography until you have to shoot fashion. But despite not hitting the fashion photo mark at 100%, I still think this was a really fresh line and the designer, Ajai Spellman knocked it out the park.....

On the Way to Womanhood

2013-05-10T10:45:00.002-07:00

15 is such a great age. You are almost a young woman, but just a little shy. Your potential beauty as a woman is beginning to show. Yet you still laugh at the silliest things, like a typical teenager. This is one special girl who getting her into this dress, i heard, was way out of her comfort zone. She wears 15 well! She has an amazing family and is going far!!

Drake the Great!

This is the craziest kid I know! But he's my nephew so he gets a pass.

Was gonna clean the dirt off his face but this is him and I wouldnt change a thing.

A few friends and family came

and i wonder what all the smiles are for....

(photographers mantra..."eyes open, mouth shut, secrets all mine" )

And then we all ate cake....an amazing cake if you ask me!

you're one lucky kid!

Some people claim they don't have any special gifts or talents, or they don't pursue discovering them. Not the case here. She is an amazing woman. Kind-hearted and so easy to laugh with. She is on a mission to help you with compassion and practicality to make your life as God designed it to be...Successful, Victorious! She was so much fun to shoot. She was nervous but in the end she said, " I'm glad you made it painless" Well, I imagine you do the same for those that seek your help.

God is most pleased when we use our natural abilities for His glory.

Jazzy Sweets

2012-01-25T09:20:00.000-08:00

So January started off super sweet! Jazzy Sweets, that is. When these bars are made, my girlfriend Jas, the owner, can not keep enough on hand. Straight from oven to mouth! This was truly a collaboration of great spirits. And we are super pleased with the results. Hopefully you will be salivating before you hit the end of this post! I encourage you to check her out on Facebook and place an order. You will NOT be disappointed.

She will have some sweet treats ready

for your Valentine this year too.

Chocolate Chips Pies, Skor and Heath Bars...oh the list goes on.

Thank you Jas for letting me make your goods look better ♥

A Picture is Worth | Help-Portrait 2011

2011-12-12T17:18:00.000-08:00

These are two pictures I took of the the many, many amazing people I met this weekend for Project New Hope in Echo Park. I met some of the most amazing people Saturday. And not just the people we were taking pictures of, but the photographers who all shared the stage one with another. We shared tips and stories and lives with each other, all in the name of sharing our talent with individuals and families who may never have had a chance for a professional portrait. Each person was so grateful for the pictures. I think we all got more joy from their excitement. They were genuinely excited and flattered. It was a great experience. check out the links below where you can see more photos taken that same day at sites all around the world.

Tootie

2011-12-07T18:23:00.000-08:00

I had the special privilege to shoot this adorable soon to be four year old. She is also quite amazing. she has sickle cell disease but you would NEVER, EVER guess it. She was ready for her shoot as soon as she stepped out of the car. She wanted to play and pose and just do what all four year olds do...have fun!

She is incredibly articulate. In fact while we took a walk along a path towards a new spot, just her and i talked. no mom, no grandma, no one but us two like we'd been friends forever. No one to encourage the conversation - she held her own!

she talked about how she likes to smile, how she can see "my eye" in the camera... and how she was a princess ready to get to the princess playground to play.

And as soon as she saw her daddy, I was a blip on the screen.

She ♥'s her daddy!

Amazing girl. I had so much fun.

Thanks for a wonderful day Miss Tootie!

The Candid Frame Workshop

2011-12-03T14:29:00.000-08:00

the day started off so fresh and crisp. this is definitely fall. and i LOVE it.
the workshop i went to this weekend was instructed by Ibarionex Perello.
This was an incredible workshop for me. i got a chance to see light in a different
way. i got a chance to see pasadena in a different way; especially after this
week's windstorm (see the fallen trees below). i got to see me in a different way.
i am so happy i went. i learned very valuable lessons.
and i'm a much happier artist!

Momma M

2011-10-28T23:06:00.000-07:00

I joined an organization called Help-Portrait about a year ago. It is a a global movement of photographers using their time, gear, and expertise to give back to those in need. Its all about giving photos, portraits, to those who NEVER have had the means, opportunity or time to have pictures taken. It has no limits on who can be touched by this outreach; homeless, orphans, single moms, sick children., vets and so on.

I didn't even do anything except sign up. I had no idea to where to begin and let it fall to the back burner. Then this month they did some upgrading and made some changes (allowing sharing/posting of pics) and I started to see more email. And i started to pay attention. I joined two groups in LA and signed up for an event in December. The impact and the stories that are captured FOREVER on film are amazing.

Well....I didn't actually hold an event. I was blessed to meet a young lady at the park recently, who despite the circumstance, was incredibly spirited and showered her boy with all the love time would allow. God led me and I stepped out of my comfort zone to just ask and offer to give her and her son a picture to have for a lifetime.....

God granted us gifts and abilities so we can serve others,

as well as give part of ourselves back to Him. (Ephesians 4:11-12)

We have a play date on Friday and I can't wait to GIVE this to her!
