ASUS would like to extend a huge thanks to its event partners, Poliform, Artemide and il Mosnel Franciacorta. Without their unwavering support and attention to detail, the ASUS Design Senses Remix exhibition could not have been so successful.

Poliform was established in 1970, evolving from a craft small business founded in 1942.
From the beginning the company expressed a strong industrial design concept, with the intention to take advantage of a highly engineered production, with a constant attention towards global market’s trends and demands. Over the years, Poliform has retained a distinctive look, closely linked to fashion, addressing both to national and international audience, capable to anticipate and express new trends in the interior design at is best. Many prestigious designers and internationally renowned architects cooperated over the years, being one of the key elements of Poliform’s growth and success.

Artemide Group is a world leader in the high-end residential and professional lighting sector.
Founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi, President and CEO, the Artemide Group is based in Pregnana Milanese and operates through 24 controlled and related companies and a distribution network that includes almost 60 single-brand showrooms in major cities all around the world. Known for its philosophy “The Human Light”, that places man and the pursuit of his well-being at the core of the conception and design of its products, Artemide has always been a synonym for Design, Innovation and Made in Italy.

Tradition and innovation. This is the twin soul of il Mosnel winery.
Its most classic spirit is expressed through the art of producing the renowned sparkling wines that see their birth in its 16th-century cellar, through its uncompromising respect for the environment, and through a winemaking heritage that is renewed with every successive generation. Along with these traditional values, however, the historic Franciacorta il Mosnel displays a soul that is thoroughly avant-garde, sensitive to technological innovation and exhibiting a pronounced passion for fine design. That passion gives rise to the “Questione di Etichetta” award, a competition that attracts the most prestigious figures in the world of industrial design, who strive to create utterly unique “packaging d’auteur.”

This year’s Milan Design Week has launched with an incredible start! With its international touch and soul, ASUS has felt right at home in the FuoriSalone, Via Tortona 35, with 750 square meters of exhibition space across three studios, giving a hands on experience to the crowds.

This hands-on time includes the very latest Pads and Slates, such as the professional Eee Slate EP121 and fresh-faced Android 3.0 Eee Pad Transformer. There is also demonstrations of the up-coming Eee Pad Slider, due to launch in the coming months. Come and chat with ASUS staff who will be happy to guide you through the new interfaces, features and experiences.

The crescendo is the SensesRemix room, filled with Eee Slates and NX90 laptops with Bang & Olfusen ICEPower speakers, inviting you to join in and contribute to an orchestra of sound, where each element plays a single instrument. While on their own they are important, only when played together do the experience become significant, so we encourage you to bring a few friends to try it out!

We’ve also got the most ostentatious relaxation area in the entire event. Seriously, try to top these chairs when finding somewhere to chill out!

Feel the technology that creates new sensations for hearing, sight and touch

Milan, Italy (April 11, 2011) – ASUS, a company known for innovation and a true passion for design, will hold “Senses Remix”, a combined concert and exhibition, at Milan Design Week. Senses Remix will showcase new ways in which technology can energize our hearing, sight and touch.

Senses Remix takes place during Milan Design Week from April 12 to 17 and the event will revolutionize the concept of ‘playing’ music. Visitors to the Milano Studio Digital will be the first in the world to experience Senses Remix. ASUS designers will also be available to share the core of ASUS Design philosophy and vision.

Hear, see, and feel at Senses RemixASUS’ main hall is devoted to Senses Remix. In this hall, visitors will face an orchestra of 16 ASUS NX90 notebooks. Designed together with David Lewis, chief designer of Bang & Olufsen, the NX90s are capable of delivering an outstanding visual and aural experience. Visitors will be able to create their own music using various Eee Slate EP121 PCs, with each programmed to play a different instrument.

“This year, we return to the basic idea of what makes us human — our senses. We want to draw new inspiration from our eyes, our ears, and our hands to reconnect with the world, as much as we do with our inner selves,”

said the project leader Jen Chuang. “We want to be there when important events take place and when you share those events with your loved ones. We see ourselves not just as a computer manufacturer, but also as a provider of new ways for people to connect with everything they hold dear.”

ASUS also has two additional themes called “Behind our sound” and “Beyond your touch”. The former gives visitors the opportunity to see a brief history of how the NX90 came about, while the latter introduces the Eee Pad range where visitors can get hands-on time with these new products.

On top of that, important ASUS partners include interior landscaper Poliform, lighting specialist
Artemide, and wine-maker Il Mosnel will also be featured at the event.

The Senses Remix exhibition will be held at Milano Studio Digital (Via Tortona 35, next to Nhow Hotel) from April 12 – 17, 10am – 8pm.

Press preview will be held on April 11, 3pm – 8pm

It is amazing how much impact the world can have on the senses. How much we can influence our lives by using our senses to experience it to the fullest, to capture a moment in its intensity.

ASUS Senses Remix

ASUS have created a simply stunning series of videos to tie in with their Senses Remix campaign at Milan Design Week, each one playing a different instrument with the same score.

First we have Celesta – light, sweet, haunting – taking you through the imagery with a deft touch. You feel whimsical and happy. The Clarinet version brings out something higher, making you pause for a moment, asking you to think about the images on the screen.

Flute follows the tune with light and delicate footsteps, turning the imagery and song into an almost childlike enjoyment of life. The video using the glockenspiel is delightfully sweet and reminiscent of laughter and bubbles, carrying a mood of anticipation and hope.

The guitar turns the music into something more serious, almost sad, asking you to think about moments that caused you to pause and reflect. The images evoke thoughts of the past, hopes for the future, things we miss. It is my favourite of the series if I am honest.

Then the harp takes the dominant note, in this video (still with the same series of reflective images as the others) you almost feel regal. This could be the soundtrack to a movie documenting your life. It’s sad and happy, rich and light.

Finally you get the marimba and the piano. The former is an unusual counterpoint to the music. The marimba brings a depth of tone that asks you to close your eyes and dream. The piano, a classic tone in any form, is beautiful with this music. It has a lovely mood that could be interpreted in any way you choose.

That’s just the music for these stunning movies for Milan Design Week. The images are something else entirely. They have been chosen to evoke, inspire, and encourage. They can be interpreted in any way you choose. Your senses are unique, and your experience will be too.
