Yes, it's true. Edinburgh is about to get a bit shitter. On the plus side, however, this time it will affect tourists as well as residents. Which makes a change. See, Network Rail have decided to play their terrorist card, and ban taxis and cars from the Waverley Station.

So, from July, you won't be able to get dropped off with your luggage in the station, and you won't be getting collected, and you won't be getting a taxi from the rank. So, it's either up the escalator into Princes Street, which is currently closed to traffic because of the tram works. So no buses or taxis there. Or you can lug your luggage up the steep ramp from the subterranean station into Waverley Bridge. Where you can't get a bus. And where there's only room for 5 taxis.

Now I've been on the London to Embra train, and there's more than five people getting off. And what about the disable folks? If you're infirm, you can get to the escalators, which seem to be working 3 days out of 5, and go up to Princes Street. Where there are no buses or taxis.

If you're in a wheelchair, you'll need to say some prayers that the lifts are finished in time. Then they'll wheech you up to, um, Princes Street. Where there are no taxis or buses.

Oh, and this will coincide with the taxi rank at Haymarket closing due to the tram works, so if you knew, and got on a through train, you're still gubbed.

It's almost as if Network Rail want to close all the railway services down. What with the price rises and making the station impossible to get into or out of, how long before they close it completely due to "lack of demand". The utter shits.
