In the Psalms, God tells us to meditate on His word day and night. But many Christians struggle with keeping their souls in touch with Him on a daily basis. Today on A Slice of the Good Life, Professor Jim Burns of the HomeWord Center for Youth and Family at Azusa Pacific University shares a message on how to live with intentionality towards God, through prayer and reading God’s Word:

Though we might struggle with busy lives day to day, God has provided us with a means to navigate life and find nourishment for our thirsty souls. If you are a Christian, let the words of Psalm 119:105 be an encouragement to you. David says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” We can all have this lamp to light our way if we turn to Christ and seek after Him intentionally, even in small moments of prayer and reading his Word.

What if Your Child is Depressed- Nic and Boris Vujicic Part 5

Being born without arms and legs meant that life was always going to be more difficult for Nick Vujicic. Although his parents sought to give him a sense of normalcy as he grew up, there were times when he suffered depression and thoughts of suicide as a child. In these dark times, Nick remembers how his parents were always loving and encouraging, but also helped him by responding to his depression as a family and making him feel heard as he expressed his struggles:

Psalm 34:18 tells us, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Galatians 6:2 exhorts us to, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Depression can cause some of the darkest hours in a person’s life. But there is Hope! If you are suffering, talk to someone who can help you bear your burden; if you know someone who is suffering, take time to listen and respond. The Apostle Peter tells us in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all our cares and anxieties on God, because he cares for us. Let this truth be an encouragement and reminder to you today: There is never a care too big or a time too dark for God! Indeed, He is our Rock and our Salvation!

Robin Jones Gunn is a bestselling author and speaker who’s written 82 books with almost 4.5 million sold worldwide. It’s not what she planned. Robin was rejected from the mission organization and told the girls in her Sunday School class the news. One of the students said, “Good, because we think you should just tell stories. We love it when you tell us stories about women in the Bible. God used the next 10 years to sanctify her gift and focus her direction. When her moment for publishing came, she was ready.

Robin found as Acts 20:24 says, “the work assigned me (her) by the Lord Jesus – telling others the good news about the wonderful grace of God.”
