DIY: J.Crew Inspired Crystal Bracelet

Kicking off some of the spider webs around there with a spin-off to the J.Crew Crystal Venus Flytrap Inspired Necklace DIY I did a while ago.

This time, a bracelet.

Spring still seems a tad reluctant to stay but summer should be arriving soon and there is no reason for your wrists to be bare. This crystal bracelet DIY is easy, fun and full of bling.

You will need:

- clear crystal cabochons (easily found on Etsy and very cheap)

- cabochon settings with lace edge in the same size as your cabochons

- clasp and two jump rings

- E-6000 glue

- pliers

The steps are pretty much the same as for the J.Crew Inspired Crystal Necklace DIY but we will skip adding the chain since the bracelet is much shorter than the necklace.

I shall repeat them for your convenience in any case borrowing some instructional pictures from my previous post:

I used 12mm clear cabochons with foiled backs and bronze settings/chain/findings for this bracelet . You can use any metal you want just remember to use cabochons and settings of the same size.

Using your pliers bend two of the lace "bumps" of your settings, one on each side.

Start connecting your settings using the jump rings until you have the desired length for your bracelet.

Measure it on your wrist and add or remove settings accordingly. Once you have connected the desired amount on settings get your crystals and glue.

Apply a small dot of the glue on each crystal and position them on each setting pressing firmly.

Leave the piece aside for a couple of hours so that the glue dries.
Using the pliers attach a jump ring on each end of the bracelet and add the clasp on one of them. You can use a bit of chain as well if you don't have enough cabochons or if you want to make the bracelet adjustable

Let the glue dry some more and you are done :)

DIY: Pyramid Wrist Bag

Holiday parties all around and you really don't want to be carrying a large handbag that makes it difficult to dance or has you worrying about keeping an eye on it when you leave it aside.

That is why I love wristlets!
Spacious enough to carry your necessities and small enough to keep it around your wrist at all times.

My friend Kostas over at Milloo handbags was kind enough to put together this Pyramid Wrist Bag tutorial so we can all make out own little party wristlets :)

This wristlet measures approx 18cm/7'' so adjust your leather size accordingly if you want a smaller or larger version.

You will need:

- a sewing machine (it doesn't have to be a professional one as in the pictures)

- metallic leather fabric (you can use any leather you prefer but do opt for an animal friendly version if possible)

- a zipper measuring approx. 13cm/5" long

- metallic clasp and rings/links for the strap

- scissors

- tailor's chalk or a fabric pen

- pen and paper

Kostas used a thick faux leather fabric to make a more rigid structure so that the bag will keep its shape even if it is empty. You can use a lighter weight cotton fabric or any other fabric you like. In such a case remember to use fabric interface.

Start by creating the template for the wristlet by drawing four equilateral triangles (three for the sides and one for the bottom of the wristlet) on your paper and cut them out using your scissors. On two of them you will cut the zipper opening as you can see in the picture below. The opening must be exactly as long as the zipper that you will use.

Position the shapes on your leather, trace them with your tailor's chalk and cut them out using your scissors.

Now, lets sew it up.

Begin by sewing the edges of the two triangles that are meant for the zipper. Remember to double check that the opening measures as long as the zipper.

Sew the zipper on the opening.

Continue by sewing the third triangle onto the piece.

Sew the sides together so that you create the pyramid shape. Stop the last seam 1cm from the edge creating a small hole.

Measure the opening of your metallic ring and cut a piece of leather of that size and about 1-1,5cm long. Position the ring halfway the piece of leather and then sew it in the small hole we created.

Undo the zipper so that you can turn the fabric inside out and sew the bottom part onto the piece.

Continue by making the handle strap. The size of your clasp ring will determine the width of the fabric that you will cut for this step.

The one in the photos is 1,6cm wide so Kostas cut a 4cm wide and 42cm long piece of leather.

The width must be approx. double the width of your clasp link plus a little bit extra for seam allowance. The length is totally up to your preference.

Fold the strap fabric in two to create the handle and sew along the edges.

Put the strap through the clasp's ring, fold it in two and sew near its edge.

Attach the clasp on the link on top of your pyramid and you are done!

DIY: You Go Glen Coco T-shirt - Free Printable

While lost in the never-ending lands of Pinterest, I stumbled upon a "You Go Glen Coco" top. If you have watched the movie "Mean Girls" you can understand that I of course had to have it, and so I clicked and clicked going through the endless links trying to find the source. I gave up when I ended up in some weight loss web page that seems to be the destination of every pin lately.

Like a Pinterest plague!

Anyhow, I of course did not let that get in my way and I quickly decided to make my own design and share it with all the cocos out there!

It is mainly Christmas themed due to the candy cane motif, but can also be a great touch if you decide to go for a Mean Girls themed Halloween costume.

If you haven't watched "Mean Girls" you may not appreciate this as much so I recommend that you watch it :p

You will need:

-a top or tote bag

- iron-on transfer paper

- iron

- ink-jet color printer

- scissors or x-acto knife

Download the design here : You Go Glen Coco Printable (Click on File and then on Download)
As you will see it is reversed so that when you iron it on a top or a tote bag it will read correctly.

Set your printer to best photo quality, pick normal or transfer paper mode and print the design onto the transfer paper using landscape paper orientation. The design fits an A4 page.

Leave the printed design to dry for 5 to 10 minutes.
Using your scissors or an x-acto knife, cut around the design leaving a 1-3mm border around it.

The size of the white border will show in a faded beige shade around your design when it is ironed on, so trim as close to your design as you can.

Lay your top or bag on a stable, heat-resistant surface and preheat your iron according to your paper's instructions. Common ones suggest heat settings for cotton and no steam.

Before you iron your design it is best to briefly iron your fabric so that it is smooth.
Place your printed design facing down on the fabric and iron it making sure the heat is evenly transfered over the entire design area.
Follow your paper's instructions regarding ironing time.

I used Pelikan Inkjet T-shirt transfer paper that recommended using the highest heat settings with no steam. This paper has indicator designs on its backside that change color when you should stop ironing.

In order to achieve a matte finish, remove the transfer paper while it is hot by peeling it off in a careful, smooth, even motion starting from one corner.
For a glossy finish let it cool first and then remove carefully.

This is what mine looked like following the matte finish instructions.

Notice the beige border around the design; after fixing the colors (instructions below) it will not be as visible but I should have trimmed more. Make sure you do :)
You can see examples on both finishes after fixing the colors below.

To fix the colors onto the fabric, removing any extra ink and giving the design a soft, fabric-like texture:

Matte finish:

After the design has cooled, cover it with a sheet of normal white copy paper and iron it once again for 10-15 seconds. Remove the paper right away while it is still hot while careful not to burn yourself!

Glossy finish:

Once cooled, use a sheet of greaseproof paper on top of the design, iron it for 10-15 seconds and let it cool before you remove it.

I went with matte finish because it feels less "plastic-y" than the glossy and the border around the design is less visible.

Allow at least 24 hours before washing for the first time. Always wash it inside out at maximum 40C and use an iron directly on the design. You can iron it on the reverse side or cover it with paper and iron on that.

This design is for personal use only. Use it for yourself or to make presents for your friends but do not use for commercial use.

DIY: Button Cardigan Chain

I really love it when a DIY involves recycling things you don't use anymore. A pair of old clip on earrings, old buttons or a chain necklace that we never wear anymore. Lets put them into good use by making this lovely cardigan chain :)

You will need:

- two buttons (c/o LotsOfButtons)

- clip ons (or a pair of clip on earrings)

- chain

- jump rings (I used 6 smaller and 2 larger ones)

- jewelry pliers and a wire cutter

- glue

I made a triple chain but you can use less chain pieces if you want. Also, you can skip the buttons if you have a pair of clip on earrings that you prefer.

Begin by cutting off the loop on the back of the buttons using the wire cutters and glue the clip ons on them. Leave aside to dry.

Cut your chain in three pieces of different length. The length is up to you.
Attach a jump ring on each chain end. I used the smaller ones for this.

Link the chains by attaching the smaller jump rings to a larger one.

Once the glue on the clip ons is completely open the large jump rings with the pliers and attach them to the clip ons.

Most clip ons have a little loop on their edge, if yours doesn't you can just attach the jump ring on the inner side of the clip.

Done :)

DIY: Detachable Brogue Hearts

As much as I love a leather fringe tongue on brogues, one can only see so many fringes before one gets really tired of them. I am one, so I decided to make something different for my brogues.

Detachable tongues yes, but not fringed; hearts!

How cute is that! Very, according to myself :)

You will need:

- leather or suede (c/o Milloo)
- scissors and an x-acto knife

- hole punch

- a cardboard or a cutting mat

- pen and paper

- measuring tape

Begin by measuring the area you want your hearts to cover on your brogues. You want to cover the laces so make it a bit wider than that area. Next, measure how long the tongue is and add an extra inch in length. Draw a heart according to these measurements on your paper and using the scissors or x-acto knife cut it out. Place the leather on your cutting mat or piece of cardboard and lay the heart shape you just cut out on it.

Using the x-acto knife trace the heart shape on the leather twice so that you get two leather hearts. Use your scissors if you are having any difficulties with the x-acto knife.

Place the hearts on your shoes and using your pen mark two spots for the holes, approx. half an inch from the top of the heart.

This is where the laces will go through so position the holes according to where you want the hearts to sit on the shoes.

Punch two holes on the marked spots and put your laces through them so that the laces are coming out to the front.

Done :)

DIY: Glitter Studded Ballerina Flats

I believe that every lady has a pair of shoes, never worn, forgotten somewhere in her shoe drawer or closet. I don't wear flats so these little fellas have been abandoned for quite some time. If mind serves, I purchased these ballerina flats in 2006, in a Primark somewhere in London and never wore them. I figured it was about time I do something with them and this DIY for Glitter Faux Studded Ballerina Flats was born.

You will need:

- a pair of ballerina flats

- glitter deco paint or any puffy paint you like
(I used textile glitter paint)

- a marker and a measuring tape (optional)

Begin by wiping your flats with a damp cloth to make sure they are clean.

This step is optional but you can use a measuring tape and a marker to mark dots on your flats and create the design for your "studs" pattern.

My ballerina flats were black so I used a red marker that just stands out a little bit against the black and made it easier to see where to paint my dots afterwards.

You can cover the whole shoe or parts of it, it is totally up to you :)

Once you have your design down stuff a couple of tissues in the front side of the flats to keep their surface even while working on them.

Begin covering your dots with the glitter paint by extruding little "blops" of it on each of your marked spots. Finish each one by pulling the paint's nozzle upwards so they get little spike-y on the top.

Try to apply even pressure on each dot so that they are of similar size.

Once you have traced all your dots, leave the shoes aside to dry according to your paint's instructions.

I know it looks a bit weird at this point but it will dry beautifully!

I left mine dry overnight and in the morning they were ready.

I even gave them a little "stress test" trying to scratch some dots off and they held up just fine.

I also added a few dots on the back of the shoes.

There is no right or wrong pattern, too many or too few "studs" on this.

This is your DIY so make it your own and have fun! :)

DIY: Studded Sunglasses

Studs don't seem to be going away anytime soon so I decided to give in to the trend and add a stud fix to my new sunglasses. I didn't want to glue a bunch of studs on them though so while looking for an alternative I thought of hot-fix studs.

They come in reels which means I could measure and cut up pieces that would fit the arms of my sunglasses, they are already arranged and aligned on the "band" they are on and and would not be hard to remove when I get over the studs trend.

An easy, flexible and cute way to style your sunglasses :)

You will need:

- a pair of sunglasses (I am using Rayban Wayfarers c/o Sunglasses Shop)

- a piece of hot-fix studs reel (there are reels of rhinestones too if you want an extra sparkle)

- scissors and glue

Measure your studs reel against your sunglasses arm and using your scissors cut two pieces, one for each arm.

Depending on the width of the arm and your studs you may need to trim the reel a little as well.

Apply some glue on the studs piece and firmly apply on the sunglasses' arm, holding in place for a few seconds.

Leave to dry according to your glue's instructions.

Sunglasses Shop Review

I am not one of those people that only wear sunglasses during summer. Sun is still dangerous in winter and nobody likes wrinkles so I love my sunnies all year round. I currently am obsessed with my matte black RayBan New Wayfarers so when Sunglasses Shop offered me a pair to review I was more than happy to do so!

I have been buying my sunnies from Sunglasses Shop a few years now so I already knew everything would go as smooth as ever and decided to base my next DIY on the pair I would receive.

I picked these amazing transparent blue New Wayfarers by RayBan with polarized lenses which will be great to keep the snow glare at bay this winter.

This shape compliments most faces so if the Classic Wayfarer isn't your cup of tea do give this a chance! I got mine in size 52 which should fit most women but if you want an over-sized look go for the 55 ones.

Delivery took two days and the sunglasses came packaged safely and nicely in their original case and box.

Sunglasses Shop carry the most fabulous brands (have you seen the new MIU MIU Glitter Sunglasses?) and they offer great tips and inspiration like their Sunglasses of the Month section.

DIY: Halloween Candy Corn Charm

Even thought I don't quite like candy corn, I can't deny it is one of my favorite Autumn and Halloween decor accents. I love the yellow and orange colors that contrast the black spooky Halloween themes so this year I decided to make a few candy corn charms.

Candy corn is very easy to make using polymer clay but be careful to keep it away from children so that they do not confuse it with the edible, real candy corn.

You can also use this DIY to make candy corn for other uses such as pendants, brooches, earrings etc.

You will need:

- polymer clay in orange, yellow and white

- an oven

- eyepin or earrings posts depending on your project

- *optional* glittery glaze

Pre-heat your oven according to your clay's instructions.

Begin by conditioning your polymer clay and then let it aside for a couple of minutes so that it is not too sticky. The amount you will use depends on the size and the quantity of the charms you will make. Pinch a small piece out of the yellow clay, a smaller one out of the orange and a tiny one out of the white. Roll them between your fingers to form a small ball of each color.

Stack them on top of the other with the yellow on bottom, orange in middle and white one on top.

Hold them between your fingers and lightly press so the piece begins to flatten a little. Don't overdo it, you don't want it too flat.

Apply light pressure to the sides so that the shape starts resembling a puffy triangle. Continue applying light pressure -and flattening it if needed- until the pieces of clay are nicely merged together. This shouldn't take more than half a minute.

Round the corners with your fingers and tap the bottom so that it is flat.

If you are going for a charm attach an eye pin by pushing it down the white part.
Place your charms in the oven for the time required according to your clay's instructions.
I made the size on the left for earrings and the one on the right for charms.

Once baked let cool thoroughly. If you are making earrings you can glue earring posts on one side, same goes or brooch pins etc.

I also used a couple of glitter glaze coats on mine to give it a sparkle.

DIY: Glitter Ring

A while ago, Pippa from BuzzFeed Shift asked me to contribute a ring DIY for their Craft Wars segment. Given my glitter obsession I of course wanted to make a dazzling glitter ring to contrast the gray winter days ahead.

DIY: Glitter Striped Top

It would be a great understatement to say I am excited to share this DIY simply because I am beyond ecstatic to do so! I love love love this! Whether you like glitter or not you can't deny there is something alluring to transforming a simple plain top to a dazzling brand new piece!
This is a fantastic way to add a much needed sparkle to your autumn/winter outfits and absolutely great to get some tops ready for the holidays.

DIY Glitter Striped Top

I honestly love it and it looks so so so much better in person, the pictures really don't do it justice.

You will need:

- a top of your choice

- glitter textile paint

- masking tape

- a painting or foam brush

- a plastic bag or a piece of cardboard

- fabric chalk or pencil and measuring tape (optional)

I used a plain black V-neck tee but you can do this on any kind of top you want.

I went for a few stripes of alternating silver and gold glitter. You can do more or less stripes depending on the design you have in mind.

You can either measure and mark your stripes using a measuring tape and a fabric pencil or trust your eyes which is what I did and for once they did not let me down :)

If you go by measuring just mark the stripes on the top and then firmly position your masking tape pieces on the marks to create the pattern you want. Make sure the tape is firmly stuck with no gaps. My stripes are about 2 inches thick each.

Place the plastic bag or cardboard piece in the top so that the paint doesn't transfer to its back side.

Using your brush begin painting between the masking tape. Don't be too generous with the paint near the tape edges to avoid it bleeding under.

If you are using two colors of glitter it is best to finish the stripes of one color, wash your brush thoroughly and then continue with the second color.

Once you paint the stripes let the top dry according to your paint manufacturer's instructions.

When the paint has dried slowly remove the masking tape.

Most fabric paints require some form of "setting" after they dry (ironing, washing etc) so read on those instructions and set accordingly.

Once the paint is set enjoy your new top and remember to always wash it according to the paint's instructions so that the glitter lasts :)

DIY: J.Crew Inspired Crystal Necklace

I am deep into sparkly, glittery, dazzling things this season. I especially have a glitter problem but I try to ignore the signs and I continue totally abusing it. Proof of that coming soon but for now lets focus on sparkly, crystally, dazzly (not sure these officially are words but hey..) glam things!
By things I mean necklaces and a specifically the gorgeous Crystal Venus and Collection Martha Necklaces by J. Crew.

My DIY Version

You will need:

- clear crystal cabochons (easily found on Etsy and very cheap)

- cabochon settings with lace edge in the same size as your cabochons

- clasp and jump rings

I used 15mm cabochons and bronze settings/chain/findings for this necklace. You can use any metal you want just remember to use cabochons and settings of the same size.

Using your pliers bend two of the lace "bumps" of your settings, one on each side.

Start connecting your settings using the jump rings until you have the desired length for the crystal part of your necklace.

You will attach chain later on so you don't need to have a full length of crystals. Measure it on your self, add/remove settings accordingly and calculate the length of chain that you will need to attach in the end.

Once you have connected the desired amount on settings get your crystals and glue.
Apply a small dot of the glue on each crystal and position them on each setting pressing firmly.

Leave the necklace aside for a few minutes (or longer if you want, it is up to you) so that the glue dries a little bit. Cut the chain in the length you noted earlier and then cut that in half. Using the pliers and the jump rings attach each piece of chain on each end of the necklace. Then attach a jump ring on one end of the chain and the clasp on the other.

Let the glue dry some more and you are done :)

Halloween is more than a month away but deciding on a costume and overall look can take quite some time. Besides you know what they say, the early bird gets the cool costumes before they sell out, right? I still don't know what I am going to go for this year. All I can think of is zombies after watching The Walking Dead. It is so hard to decide! Zombie or squirrel? Deputy or annoying kid that never listens to anyone and gets people killed? (I'm looking at you Carl...)

DIY: Celine Inspired Knot Bracelet

I have been lusting over the Celine Knot bracelet for months and have been extremely unlucky in finding it. I figured it was time to get over it by making something similar while hunting down other autumn necessities. Given my current color obsession I decided to get adventurous and not just go for a metallic version.

Inspiration

My DIY version

You will need:

- polymer clay

- a jar or thick glass bottle
- an oven (:p)
- acrylic colors or spray paint (optional)

The jar or glass bottle will determine the size of the bracelet so pick one with a diameter close to that of your wrist. The temperature that you will bake it will not be so high as to break it but do pick a thick one.

Turn on your oven adjusting the temperature according to your clay's instructions.
Start by conditioning a piece of polymer clay and knead it until it is soft.

Roll your clay into a tube approx. 1 inch longer than the diameter of your wrist. The tube can be as thick or thin as you want your bracelet to be. I have made both chunky and thinner versions that you can see in the pictures above. Grab the two ends and while handling the clay softly tie them into a loose knot.

Softly pull the two ends so that you tighten the knot.

Get your jar and wrap the bracelet(s) around it.
Put the jar with the bracelets in the oven. The time you need to bake them depends on your clay's instructions so read the label beforehand.

Carefully remove the jar from the oven and let the bracelets cool. Be careful not to touch them while hot and not to bend them while still warm.

Once they have cooled you can use acrylics or spray paint to color them.

DIY: Curb Chain Ring

While browsing important web sites the other day, I stumbled upon some pictures of Gwen Stefani and fell in love with a curb chain ring she had on. Long story short I decided to make my own version and recycle some broken rings while at it.

My DIY version

Now, if you can handle a torch and silver you can make a similar version with silver curb chain and some solder. If not then this is a much better way for you to create this style.
A very cute project and quite easy too!

You will need:

- plain rings (I used some broken adjustable rings I had laying around)

- curb chain (best if the width is the same or larger than the rings)

- E6000 glue

- pliers

- toothpick and an old ring box cushion or a piece of styrofoam

You can use brand new or recycle old rings. I used some broken (their decorations had come off) adjustable ring bases. Since the chain will decorate them don't worry if there is any discoloration or chipping etc.

Start by wearing the ring you will use. Place a piece of the curb chain on it and count the links you need to use to cover the ring's surface. Use your pliers to open and detach the links needed from the rest of the chain.

Continue by placing your ring on a piece of styrofoam or an old ring box cushion to keep it stable while working on it.

Apply a little amount of glue on the toothpick and spread it along the top of the ring.

Carefully put the chain links over the glue on the surface of the ring. Align the chain along the ring and apply a bit of pressure on it for a few seconds.

Let it dry for a while and you are done! You can use different metals such as bronze, copper etc.

I made this in silver, bronze and neon pink by applying some nail polish on the chain.

DIY : Shatter Polish Sunglasses

Do you ever happen to buy a certain nail polish shade more than once? Even if the first one you bought is still brand new and unused in your drawer? I sure hope so else I should really seek some help with that. I buy the same colors way too often and it is becoming a bit of a problem especially when I go through lazy periods when I don't use nail polish at all. The poor things just waste away.

This fantastic blue from O.P.I is one of those purchases. A triple one actually. For some reason I found it clever to buy it three times even though I remembered I bought a blue not long ago. I guess I didn't want to risk it as if it would go out of production or something. In my defense it is an amazing blue shade and since I came up with a project for it now I am in the clear. Yes? Yes!
I thought of this DIY when I got a pair of free sunglasses with the September issue of Elle and I just love the result.

Blue and fuchsia shatter polish sunglasses

You will need:

- solid colored nail polish (I used O.P.I Blue My Mind)

- shatter nail polish (I used fuchsia Nail Quake by MUA )

- sunglasses

Pick contrasting polish shades for a "popping", vibrant effect or why not go for gold and black if you would like an animal print themed result.

I decided not to paint the front of the sunglasses because one bad stroke and I would have to use nail polish remover which would ruin the lens. Plus since there is not enough room for nice clear "shattering" it would end up looking just messy so I went with the "arms".

Make sure your sunglasses are clean and start by applying a layer of the colored nail polish on the outer side of the "arms". Let dry and then apply another layer to cover the surface evenly. Let them dry for a while adding a few extra minutes to your usual waiting time.

Afterwards using quick, even strokes apply one layer of the shatter nail polish. You can apply it both vertically and horizontally to create a random shattering effect but remember to not repeat a stroke on the same spot. The shattering effect should start almost immediately so if you apply on top of it it will just not create the nice cracks.

Cover both arms and let them dry thoroughly. Depending on your varnish you may want to apply a clear top coat. Once dry they are ready for you to enjoy :)

DIY: Embellished Tank Top

There is still a little time left before we put away our summer tees and tops. That means there is still time left to give some of them a makeover and why not continue wearing them throughout fall.

This DIY by Alisa Burke is a great way to transform your favorite summer top and will look great under a cardigan or a V neck as the weather gets chilly :)

DIY: Glitter Earring Posts

Doesn't everything look so much better covered in glitter? Lately I have been contemplating applying a layer of glitter on everything. Before making my day-dreaming obsession of a glitter wall a reality though, I thought it is best to start small.

Glitter earring posts!
So easy, so cute and so sparkly!

You will need:

- earring posts with blank pads (I use 8mm pad ones in this project)

- glitter powder

- varnish glue

- a piece of Styrofoam or a sponge

- toothpicks and a disposable container to mix the glitter

Start by placing your earring posts on the piece of Styrofoam or anything you can use to stick them onto and keep them stable and in place.

In a disposable container or a piece of paper/foil, pour an amount of glue equal to the size of a pea. The quantity of glitter that you will mix with that depends on how glittery you want the result to be. The more glitter you put the less transparent spots you will have on your earrings once they dry.

The red ones in this project had more glue than glitter. All other colors had more glitter mixed in.

Use a toothpick to drop a generous drop of the glue/glitter mix on each of the post pads.

Using the toothpick make small circular motions on the pad so that the mix goes over it evenly. Make sure you apply a generous amount so that you have a small half bubble on your pad otherwise your posts will be flat in the end.

Once you have covered them with your glue/glitter mix let them dry according to your glue's instructions.

Since this glue is mixed with varnish the result is already glossy, waterproof and has volume so as soon as they dry they are ready to be worn :)

DIY : Red Heart Hoodie

Forget wearing your heart on your sleeve. Currently it is all about wearing your heart closer to where it belongs. Well..on your chest.
Hearts are everywhere and -the soon to be here- Autumn will find them in many combinations on chunky knitwear, sweaters, tops, cardigans and the list goes on.
There is plenty of inspiration out there :

I decided to beautify one of my hoodies following the heart trend and I am totally obsessed with the result. I went with a classic red heart but I see myself going crazy with color combinations soon and I really have to keep myself from doing this to all my tops.

A plain, bulky gray hoodie that I usually rock after the gym is now beyond cute and I just love it!

You will need:

- a hoodie or a top of your choice

- fabric paint (any paint that is suitable for fabrics, sometimes acrylic works as well)

- cutting mat or a piece of cardboard that you can cut your stencil on

- a piece of cardboard or a big plastic bag to put inside the hoodie/top so that

the paint does not transfer to the backside

- freezer paper

- sponge brush

- cloth iron

- X-acto knife

- pencil or marker
- a disposable cup

- scissors

Start by drawing a heart on your freezer paper and then trace it with the X-acto knife so that you create your stencil. Position your stencil where you want your heart to be on your hoodie and iron over it (shinny side down). It will stick and stay in place so that you can proceed with the painting part.

Before you start painting put your plastic bag or cardboard inside your hoodie so that you keep the front and back side apart. This will help your paint to not transfer to the back of your hoodie.
Poor some paint in your disposable cup and using your brush start painting inside your stencil.

Apply a generous quantity of paint with your strokes all over the stencil. When you paint the whole design look closely for any uneven spots and fill them up.

Pay extra attention to the edges of the stencil to ensure the paint is even all around.

Once you have covered the stencil evenly let the piece dry according to your paint's manufacturer instructions. When it has dried carefully peel off the stencil. It comes off really easy and if you are patient with it your stencil will come off intact and ready to use again.

Most fabric paints require heat to set (so that they do not come off in the was) so read your paint's instructions and treat accordingly. Mine required ironing.
After setting the paint you are ready to wear you fabulous new heart hoodie!

DIY: Embellished Denim Shirt

There are a lot of ways to spice up a shirt that include lace details, studs and of course glam...lots of glam! It is time for some shirt collars to get a serious bling!

Summer is soon waving goodbye ~~I have been repeating this sentence in my head since May..not a fan or the heat~~ and this little DIY is a fantastic way to add some sparkle to those chilly evenings when a shirt is much needed.

How fab will this collar look during fall and winter peaking under those knitted pieces!
The crafty masterminds at Honestly WTF have put together this fantastic DIY that you can follow to embellish your denim shirts.

You will need:

- denim shirt (this should work on any fabric given the collar is slightly reinforced)

- assorted buttons

- flat back pearls

- assorted rhinestones

- Jewel-It washable glue

- flush wire cutters

- a tooth pick

- a disposable wooden spoon

DIY : Colorful Summer Necklace

Colorful necklaces are great during summer. You can wear a simple top and jazz it up with a necklace right away. I always try to opt for handmade when it comes to jewelry because it really makes it so much more special to know that someone put all this effort and love into making something. You are not just another dollar sign in the artist's mind. I think you develop a special connection with a handmade piece and you love it in a really unique way.

This DIY is double fun because not only it is easy to make but you get to use a handmade main component.

Vibrant, delicious, beautiful glass beads!
I just love the colors and the result necklaces look fantastic.

You will need:

- large glass beads (I used 15-17mm ones)

- waxed cotton cords

- jump rings

- clasps

- crimp beads

- pliers, crimping pliers

You can of course use any beads but I highly recommend going on Etsy for some handmade glass beads. The colors are just amazing!

Start by cutting a piece of cord according to the length you want your necklace to have.
Form a small loop on one end and holding it firmly between your fingers thread a crimp bead around it.

You don't need a very large loop, just large enough for the jump ring to go through.

Using your crimping pliers close the crimp bead so that it is firmly fastened on the cord and thread a jump ring through the cord loop.

Thread as many beads in the color combinations you want and repeat the steps above adding the clasp to the jump ring on the other end of the cord.

You can join two cords and two sets of beads by threading a jump ring through two cord loops as shown in the picture below.

You can add a couple of crimp beads as well if you want to add a metallic element to them.
Play around and mix them up :)

As you can see it is very easy to overdo it and make a dozen of these but with these fantastic colors who cares!
