Sneak Peek!!!

Here's a SNEAK PEEK at one of the cards you can choose to make at the Card Buffet next Saturday, February 25th!!! We'll be having a blast at Trinity Luthern School in Menasha, where you'll be able to choose from 16 different cards!!! Come join the fun from 9am - 1pm and stamp your heart out!

It's been a blast playing in my new Happy Place deciding which cards to include in this event. I have a fabulous lineup for you! I've been surfing the web for weeks for this event. The card shown below is just one of the fabulous creations I found online. There's such a wide range of cards - which made it extra fun for me. I have crisp & clean, simple & fun, elegant and some for those of you that really like your cards to fall into the "work of art" category. You get to pick and choose which cards you want to create.

This card is made with the Bordering on Romance (125480 W $27.95; 125842 C $21.95) set in the mini catalog. It has two stamps that coordinate with the Edgelits on page 7 too. When I saw this in the mini - it really didn't do anything for me....but then I saw all the beautiful creations being made with it on the demonstrator art gallery on our SU website and knew that it was a WINNER!

More METAL Ideas!!!

Remember this beauty??? You can see the entire card below. I've been having a blast with the aluminum roof flashing and came up with some more ideas to share with you!!!

You can make your metal frame any color you want!!!! We'll start from the beginning...

Get yourself some roof flashing at your local home improvement store - you can get taller rolls - but I thought this one was a good size because it was more manageable. I cut my aluminum flashing with our Craft & Rubber Scissors.

2. Place your Framelit on the flashing and run through your Big Shot with both tabs closed and an extra sheet of cardstock on top of your cutting plate. The cardstock acts as a little extra shim to help cut out the framelit.

3. Now place your metal frame in the Designer Frame embossing folder and run that through your Big Shot like normal.

WAAAA LAAAAA - here's a beautiful frame for your card or scrapbook page!!!

EMBOSSING YOUR FRAMES

1. You can use a colored Craft (pigment) ink pad and clear embossing power like I did here...or you can use a VersaMark ink pad and colored embossing powder like I did on the white and black frames shown below. Just smoosh your frame into the ink pad.

2. Cover with embossing powder and heat with your heat tool.

Here are three frames I made - the 1st one is black embossing powder, the 2nd is white embossing powder and the 3rd is clear embossing powder with Not Quite Navy Craft ink.

Doesn't this look pretty?

Look what I made today for my family...some sweets for the sweet!!! These are homemade caramels....oh and they are soooooo good!

It was a long time coming this morning....this is the disaster that I had going on in my kitchen! Multitasking wasn't worth it...I was trying to get a deposit together, stirring my homemade caramels in between getting checks and cash organized. BAD IDEA! This is what happened....

And of course it just kept burning!!! Smoked up the entire kitchen!!! What a mess!

And then I had things under control again. I moved my caramel mixture to a bigger pan and kept on cooking and stirring....I DID NOT try to multitask!!! I actually left that mess there until I had my caramels cooked. It was really hard for me...but I didn't want to screw up the whole batch.

As long as I was making caramel - I had some left over cashews from Christmas and I just had to make some fancy candies too!!!

Are you drooling yet??? Here's my finished product! Cashew Turtles!!! My friend Jean made this plate for me - perfect!!! Hailey's boyfriend doesn't like chocolate...I KNOW RIGHT??? So I made him some white chololate turtles...

And here's some dipped caramels...

Caramels

Ingredients

2 cups white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup evaporated milk
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 cup butter
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

Grease a 12x15 inch pan.
In a medium-size pot, combine sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, evaporated milk, whipping cream, and butter. Monitor the heat of the mixture with a candy thermometer while stirring. When the thermometer reaches 250 degrees F (120 degrees C) remove the pot from the heat.
Stir in vanilla. Transfer mixture to the prepared pan and let the mixture cool completely. When cooled cut the Carmel into small squares and wrap them in wax paper for storage.

Butterfly Mobile & Bouquet of Flowers!

I'm having sooo much fun with this! Here's a mobile (I guess that's what I'm calling it) that I made with the Aluminum Flashing. I saw a few websites where they were painting these with metal paint....well...I know that stuff's expensive - so it popped into my head that Craft Ink and Clear Embossing Powder would probably work. I was RIGHT!!! So now I have a ton of colors at my fingertips and it doesn't cost me a thing!!!

I'm going to hang my "mobile" from the string on my ceiling fan when I get done with my February stamp clubs - I have to take it along to show it to everyone first.

Here's a bouquet of flowers that my friend Terri made last weekend while I was working on the card shown below! All aluminum flashing!!!

Just use a sponge and Craft Reinker to apply color to the flashing. Then pour clear embossing powder on and heat set it. It doesn't get much easier than that!!!

Terri used a hot glue gun to adhere the 20 guage wire on the backs and Dimensionals in between the layers. Notice the GREAT texture on all the different layers - she used a whole bunch of different embossing folders.

Playing with METAL!!!

How fun are these??? Garden Stakes were featured at Leadership and I just had to try them for myself. They're soooo easy and make a wonderful embellishment for my house plants!!!

Remember the box I made last week: BOX I used aluminum roof flashing again for these Planter Stakes. This roll was less than $5 at Menards. Gotta getcha some!!! Just cut the Aluminum and run it through your Big Shot. Then insert your shapes in an embossing folder. It's doesn't get much easier than that!!!

I love these!!! I used my Craft & Rubber Scissors to cut the Aluminum, the Crop-A-Dile to punch holes in them and fishing line to string them together. I made the stakes with 20 guage wire. The butterfly attached to the oval just takes a little piece of Dimensional.

Heart Framelit Envelope

They're not just for hearts anymore!!! I'm talking about the Framelits Hearts Collection. These dies are the bomb!!! The little envelope on the front of my card is made from the large scalloped heart in the collection. Below you'll see exactly how to score your heart to make an envelope too!

I'm in love with the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper that's available as one of your FREE choices in the Sale-A-Bration brochure.

First I cut a piece of DSP 6 x 6 and die cut the heart.

After fiddling around with my folds for a little while - I came up with the perfect dimensions. Place your heart on the Simply Scored tool and score at 1-3/8 & 4-1/8.

Fold in the sides, turn your heart as shown below and score again at 1-3/4 while the sides are folded in. Fold up the bottom flap and secure with a brad or adhesive.

The bow that I made is pretty self explanatory, but I decided to make a little template so it would be easier for my customers to make.

I made a template that's 2-1/2" wide by 2" tall. I punched a 1/2" hole in the middle and then cut from the hole to the bottom of the template. This made an area big enough to handle the brad I used to hold my ribbon together. I wrapped both colors of ribbon around the template 3-4 times.

Insert the brad around all the layers in the middle.

And just slide it off the bottom of the template. I then inserted my brad through the mini envelope and the Calypso Coral cardstock layer on the front of my card.

Treasure Box of LOVE

How adorable is this??? I made this little box using the Box #2 Die and roof flashing. I die cut the box and then ran it through the Big Shot on the Elegant Lines embossing folder. Tied it with a little Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding and added a die cut heart from the NEW Fashionable Hearts Embosslit with a Dimensional. The Rhinestone is colored with a red sharpie marker to make it...RED. The little metal heart is made from roof flashing too...although it didn't cut out all the way...I had to use my Craft & Rubber scissors to cut it all the way out. I also used these scissors to cut my roof flashing - they are fabulous and cut it just like butter!

I purchased the roof flashing at Menards in the Building Materials department. It was less than $5!!!
