I’m CP, and I want Aston Villa to sign big Sol Campbell

G’day. My name is Chris and I’m an Australian Villan. I go by CP on this blog, and this is my first post. As a long-time reader I think I have developed a reasonably good feel for how things work, but feel free to drop me a line if you feel I’m need of education.

Speaking on behalf of other Aussie Villans let me assure you, we put in our hard yards to support the club. While I’ve never sat in the Holte End or spotted O'Neill at the Belfry, I’ve turned up to work more times than I care to mention red-eyed and fatigued from watching every one of Villa’s fixtures into the wee hours.

No signings today, Andy Murray and Aston Villa poll results

There isn't a rumour anywhere that we haven't already discussed and it is Friday. Friday is a day for taking it easy, not getting too excited or carried away and if you are of a certain age, having a few beers and taking it easy.

I'm no longer of that age and I have quite a bit of work to get through today and it's not interesting work, but for boring work. It is the type of work that you really should get done on a Monday, just so you don't have to do it all on the best day of the week. But, I'm going wildly off topic now, so, back to Aston Villa and I have put some beers in the fridge, yes.

A Swedish attacker, a no to Bramble and a 'hit list'

I've probably missed something but I'm also getting a little excited. Am I allowed to do that or am I going to disappoint some of you? Let me explain why.

First, the rumour about Bramble bush Titus seems to have been dismissed. Not by the club directly to us but someone at the Express & Star called them up and they've published something dismissing it. What they've actually published is that he isn't on the 'hit list'. That is the part that got me excited and I'll explain why.

First match in 18 days, players to arrive at Aston Villa very very soon

I don't know what to tell you. We've been linked to Senderos again, Campbell again, Owen again and Wheater again. None of them, for me anyway, are any better than what we have, so it is very difficult for me to get excited.

Sure, if you could guarantee that Owen would be fit for a season then naturally I'd have him start week in week out, but you can't and the prospect of Owen coming, to sit on the treatment table, doesn't excite me. Not when we are one of only five teams not to have made any signings yet this summer.

James Milner, Paul Merson, t-shirt winners and maybe a rumour or two

Half the clubs in the Premier League now have new players for this coming season and with Lerner telling us funds are available, just not as much as last summer, you've got to fancy we're going to be bringing players in fairly soon.

But this isn't about when it's going to happen or the rumours that we are linked to 21 year old Brazilian wonderkid Taison or we're leading the chase for Middlesbrough attacking midfielder, winger and striker Tuncay Sanli.

A German midfielder, a striker from Spurs and Lerner speaks in transfer window about funds been made available

I'm in a pretty bad way this morning but that is mostly because of a surprise birthday party we had for the wife yesterday and the bath tub full of beer and vodka, but there are some interesting stories doing the rounds this morning to perk me up a little.

First is the German midfielder from Bayern Munich called Tim Borowski. The rumour is we are going to pay £5mn. and for a 29 year old this would be madness in my opinion. I know £5mn. isn't a lot of money these days in the grand scheme of things but for a player that has peaked it is far too much. But it is only a rumour.

Doug Ellis speaks and a question of faith

Doug Ellis has spoken to Bill Howell and well, it is worth a post because Doug Ellis is Mr Aston Villa. Well, Mr Aston Villa was the name he got but I'm not sure where from and what he has to say is actually quite interesting.

He has predicted that Gary Gardner, brother of Craig, who is going nowhere this summer, is doing to be a better player than his older brother and he fancies that Marc Albrighton will get a look in this coming season. It is all positive stuff from our former Chairman.
