Two of Bhanu Kapil's book were published by Berkeley's Kelsey Street Press: The Vertical Interrogation of Strangers (2001) and humaninal [a project for future children] (2009). Other works are: Incubation: a space for monsters (Leon Works, 2006), Schizophrene (Nightboat, 2011) and BAN (forthcoming: Nightboat, 2014.) Bhanu Kapil teaches through the monster, memory and experimental prose [performance] at Naropa University, in the year-round BA, MFA, as well as the Summer Writing Program; she also teaches part-time at Goddard College. In 2012, she was a delegate to the World Conference of Cultural Psychiatry at Queen Mary's College, London, where she gave a talk on resilience factors and narrative in [for] [with] non-white clinical populations.

A note about the photo: "Notes from the Meat Sack: Berkeley, 2013" -- photo taken by Juliana Spahr at Poetics of Healing, curated by Eleni Stecopolous at the Subterranean ArtHouse. Dragged off the stage by an audience member: Jai Arun Ravine, Naropa alumnus. Butcher knives taken from David Buuck's kitchen; soundtrack performed by Melissa Buzzeo -- reluctantly but with brilliance. Red sack sewn (by hand) by Asha Kapil: "Demented Panda." Recording device provided by Angel Dominguez, grad student at Naropa.
