Holiday Gift Guide: Gifts for Children Piggy Paint!!

I have a couple of girly girls. They love makeup, nail polish, getting their hair done, shoes and clothes it’s fun, but at times, like when I’m trying to do my own makeup and my own nails, it can become annoying because well, they want to join in too.

With things like my nail polish, I really hate to give it to them to try to do themselves, some of it takes a while to dry, and especially with my youngest, I really don’t like the fact that her fingers go in her mouth so much with nail polish on. I’ve now found a little solution to my problems for the girls, now they can have their own nail polish instead of trying to get into mine all the time.

Piggy Paint is a non-toxic fingernail polish made just for little girls (or boys too I guess). The inventor of piggy paint is a mom who a 2 year old and a 4 year old who, just like mine, love to get their fingernails painted, but she like myself was a bit worried about the toxins and the girls putting their freshly painted nails in their mouths, so she decided to come up with a polish that is not flammable and one that is water based with natural ingredients and made in the USA!

Piggy Paint is non-toxic, odorless, water based, hypoallergic and also comes in vibrant fun colors and dries as a hard finish. It also dries pretty quickly as well; we found that in about 60 seconds or less the paint was dry on the girl’s nails.

The girls loved their piggy paint and the fun colors it came in, if you check out the website they give some great tips and suggestions for putting Piggy Paint on your child’s nails as well as great ways to use Piggy Paint as a learning tool for children.

Piggy Paint also has their own nail polish remover as well that is also non-toxic, odorless, hypoallergenic, biodegradable, made from natural ingredients, and doesn’t contain any acetone. I was pretty impressed with the remover, and likely will use it for my own purposes as well because I can’t stand the smell of normal nail polish remover. Holiday Gift Guide: A Gift For Everyone The Slanket!

The fall season is here, and with it brings chilly mornings and nights. As I sit here blogging sometimes curled up with a blanket, the one thing left to be exposed is my arms, they get cold too, and there's just no way around having a blanket fall off of them when typing.

It’s very long and covers all of me but I’m only 5’0”, the true test is my hubby who’s 6’1” and I now have to FIGHT with him AND the girls over this blanket, it works for all of us. It’s soft and WARM and like I said before, one of the best blankets ever.

Traveling with the family...

I love being a stay at home mom, but it seems that cabin fever is hitting me already and it’s hitting me hard! I need a vacation! Most of the time I’d say without the kids, but I’d be happy to go on a family vacation somewhere together.

Recently my hubby and I have been talking, and talking about where we could go and do, a lot of ideas fly into my head, mostly about things I’d like to do. I mean, as much as I just said I’d love a family vacation, me and hubby never got a honeymoon, so leaving the girls with their grandparents while we head out to one of the Best Honeymoon Hotels in Jamaica might not be a bad idea. But then I get that guilty feeling, my children and how they deserve to go somewhere special too.

Finding a place that’s fun for just about everyone in my family is a pretty hard thing to do, me and the girls are spoiled brats when it comes to getting our way and we all like to do different things. I was thinking of Vegas than though that’s not really the most family friendly place, then I was thinking about New York, there’s so much to do there, we could have a ton of fun and even book Hotels with pools in NYC to add to the excitement, but then maybe it’s just too busy a place to take two young kids.

So, as we prepare to venture into 2010 the ideas are still flying. Hubby has 3 weeks’ vacation next year and we’re going to take advantage of that, it’s just finding and saving the money and the right place to spend the time at!

Wrestlers Rescue Street Team President!!!

So as big as a wrestling fan that I am, you know I try to get involved in anything and everything I can when it comes to my wrestlers. Well, I have some great news!!!

I’ve joined forces with Wrestler’s Rescue and am now the official President of the Wrestler’s Rescue Street Team!!! You have no idea how exciting this is for me, I know it’s not a big huge title, there’s no pay, it’s just a street team, but I’m so glad to be on top of spreading the word about this great organization.

If you haven’t heard of Wrestler’s Rescue their mission is to create awareness and to help raise money to support the health care needs of retired professional wrestlers. Most people don’t know the hardships retired wrestlers can have due to their career choice in wrestling and the extensive hurt their bodies go through. Wrestler’s Rescue hopes to not only raise funds, but put in place a financial advisory for the active wrestling community to call on for advice or how to plan for their future including retirement, pension, college funds, family needs etc. They hope to set in place a health care program that can be bought into at a group rate so that the community can afford care for themselves and their families.

I think this is a great cause for the wrestlers of today and yesterday, a lot of fans or people in general don’t understand how hard it is in terms of health care and ongoing care for these wrestlers who entertain us week after week, month after month, and year after year.

There’s also a great event coming up in July 26-31 of 2010 which includes a Wrestler’s Rescue Cruise. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased until December 1, 2009 see here for details. The cruise is a must for any wrestling fan, it's going to be a fun filled 5 day cruise filled with fun activities and including a ton of your favorite wrestlers past and present!

Family Taco Night...

Family night isn’t always an easy thing to come by, especially in our home. Although I’m always here with the kids, we do dinner together but most nights, dinner doesn’t include dad as he’s working.

We’ve been trying to do a ‘family’ sort of night at least one night a week where we all get together as a family to have dinner, and some fun. About a week ago, we decided to have a family taco night, one of our family’s favorite foods but we were able to do taco night a little different and make it a little more fun thanks to Old El Paso!

We got to enjoy our yummy Old El Paso soft tacos together as a family while playing a really fun game called EL Tacodor! This game was fun for all of us and gave us some giggles during our night.

Although the girls were still a little young for some things such as trivia, we still had a blast with the following challenges:

• Meat-N-Greet: Name 5 things that you’d bring home from your favorite vacation place and let the table guess where you traveled
• Lettuce Play: Act out different animals – no noises! Your partner must guess 3
• Lime Light: Cheer, “We love tacos, yes we do! We love tacos, how ‘bout you?”
• Say Cheese: Pronounce the name of everyone at the table backwards!

This was such a fun and interesting way to have family night done just a little differently, and now you and your family can try it out, and have some taco night fun as well by taking part in the El Tacodor game. I'm Back!

BLAH! What a week it’s been. With the flu hitting our home and just various other things, it’s not been fun. Today I finally feel back to normal and feel like this sickness is truly gone from my body. Thankfully (knock on wood) no one else has caught it, we took some pretty good precautions to make sure that didn’t happen, but all being in the same household there’s always that chance.

Yesterday I was feeling still a little out of it, tried to do some things around the house, because you all know, when Mommy is sick, NOTHING gets done! It just took so much out of me to do anything still, so I did a lot of online shopping yesterday for Christmas. From video games, clothing, an SD card, and various other things, I had some fun time spending some of my cash.

I’m just thankful things can go back to normal now, and we can start getting prepared for Thanksgiving and Christmas, oh yea! That’s what I did yesterday; I got our new Christmas tree from treetopia.com set up! You’ll hear more about that during my Holiday Gift Guide which will start tomorrow!

Today is supposed to be a beautiful day; it’s supposed to hit 70 degrees! Can you believe that, it’s November and 70 degree weather here in Northwest Ohio! I think me and the girls will get out later this afternoon and rake up some of those icky leaves outside, which I hate to do but I can’t let this great weather pass us by.

It's hit our home...

It seems that the flu has hit our home. Now, I don't know if it's the dreaded H1N1 or just the regular flu, and really I don't care. I feel like CRAP!!!!! Aches, Headaches, Coughing, Fever, Chills... It all sucks...

Granted I've been out of it for almost 2 days now, today I'm feeling much better. The fever is gone and really all I have is a headache, cough and some aches but this flu is horrid and painful!

Today hubby finally gave me my laptop and Blackberry back, I'm so bored having to lay in bed all day. I can say I was a tad frustrated today though and got up and vacuumed, took all the sheets off all the bed and threw the dirty laundry downstairs. I also Lysol'd the entire 2nd floor of our house, hubby will have to do the downstairs. After doing all that I was just too light headed and dizzy to continue, and really should just be resting anyways.

So, due to me being sick, my gift guide has been pushed back till next week while I recover. I'm just trying to isolate myself from the girls in hopes that they don't catch it. Right now the only thing my 6 year old seems to worry about is her newly formed pimple and acne treatment to make it go away lol. Hubby goes back to work tomorrow, so here's hoping I'm feeling so much better by then!

I hope you all had a great Halloween. We're back from Canada and the girls had a great time, even got to watch some bell tv. I even got into the swing of things and got to go trick or treating myself. Yes a 30 year old woman went door to door saying TRICK OR TREAT and grabbing candy.

It was for a good cause though, it wasn't for myself. My youngest is very shy, and after a couple of houses she wanted to go back to Grandma's house. She didn't like the fact that she had to go to strange people's houses and speak to them, so on her behalf, myself and my brother's boyfriend collected candy on her behalf. I can say though, it was probably the funniest thing you have ever seen!!!

Lately I’ve been thinking of heading back to school. With the girls growing up, one of them already in school fulltime, and the other starting in two years, it’s time to think about myself. Where do you find the time to attend, be home for the kids, and keep up with the house? Going back to school full time can be a change, and a challenge but today there’s so many helpful solutions such as online schooling, sometimes we can see it as something we can just fit into our daily schedule.

First step is to find a credible online university, there are so many online schools out there, finding which ones are credible is the key. Earning an online University degree can be a blessing, but you do need to be sure to do your research as well, and take the time to be informed. I've unfortunately had a bad experience in the past, and have since learned from my mistakes when it comes to online education and research is defiantly the key!

Universities such as Western Governor help people both in the United States and some parts of Canada with their online education by providing a fully credible online learning experience. WWE rated PG...

I just read a very interesting article written in the Buffalo News today talking about how WWE is rated PG now and is more ‘family friendly’, this isn’t a surprise. Any wrestling fan has seen the new PG type of entertainment, and a lot of wrestling fans (me included) are venturing on to find better things, looking at indy shows and starting to steer clear of WWE programming.

Although I do find myself getting into things like TNA and venturing into ROH a lot more, know I’ll always be a WWE fan, but I can say I don’t watch it nearly as much or pay attention to it as much as I used to. I can’t deal with the ‘family friendly’ way they’ve gone. This is WRESTLING not Nickelodeon, and when I tune in yes, I do want to see vulgar stuff, I do want to see blood, I tune in to see violence and chairs and tables matches… I DO WANT TO SEE ATTITUDE!

One quote in the article that got the majority of my attention was from the chief operating officer of World Wrestling Entertainment, Donna Goldsmith she said:

"It was edgier in the attitude era. There was a little more blood, and then we realized this was not the way to go,"

I’m not sure when or how they realized that this was NOT the way to go, specifically because during the attitude era they had a ton of viewership, more fans and higher ratings than now. Sure I understand the attitude era generation are growing up, we have kids now and families, they’re trying to tune into the next generation of fans, our kids which has worked, my oldest daughter is a huge wrestling fan. BUT!!! Those attitude era fans, are still fans, and we’re the ones with the money, not the kids.

I also really had to laugh at another quote from the COO of World Wrestling Entertainment:

"Today we are PG — definitely family friendly. Our writing teams know the boundaries, and they tell really good stories."

Yet again, is she watching the same programming I've been watching lately? Where are these 'good stores' because I haven't seen any real 'good stores' lately at all, in fact I've seen some pretty crappy, boring ones, or ones that are done over again...and again...and again...

I’m sad that WWE has gone to this PG style of entertainment, it’s not as nearly exciting as it used to be, and it doesn’t get my viewership as much as it used to now either. If I miss a program or PPV oh well, no big deal, not like I missed much anyways and this isn’t just my attitude towards WWE these days either, there are a lot of fans that feel the same way and are sick of the ways WWE is heading.

WWE needs to be there and listen to their fans a lot more, tune into the blogs, the websites and even twitter, see what your ‘universe’ is really saying instead of just allowing 'moderated' comments to go on in your chats, LISTEN to the real fans and maybe those ratings will climb higher than ever, until then the decline is on.

I’m pretty much a music snob (so my husband says). I tend to stick with what I know hip hop, rap, R&B and pop music. I do have to say I have one guilty pleasure that I’m going to admit right here and now….I love Harry Connick Jr.!

I just love his voice, and the slow sounds that accompany his songs. It’s almost relaxing and gives me a little ‘getaway’ when I’m listening to him sing. Recently I received his newest album Your Songs which was released in September and yet again Harry Connick Jr doesn’t disappoint.

His soulful songs and sounds, and the new renditions on songs that are already known and some that are remakes but I have never heard before were great, I think he does such a great job and connecting with those listening to him.

This album would be a great album for any of those upcoming holiday parties if you’re looking for some great background music that’s not going to overpower the party and have your guests screaming at the top of their lungs to talk.
