<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Terry Hernandez, Executive Director of the Chrysalis Foundation, will speak on The Importance of Leadership and Economic Empowerment in Girls and Women Oct. 21 at 11:30. The meeting will be held at Iowa Workforce Development on <span size="2;" style="font-family: Arial;">430 East Grand Avenue.</span> </p><p>Hernandez served as first Executive Director for the Chrysalis
Foundation from 1997-2000 and returned to the position in 2004. Her
career includes positions as Director of Marketing and Public Relations
with Iowa Lutheran Hospital and the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, and she was
co-founder of Iowa Women in Public Policy. Prior to starting his own company, he was President of EFCO Corp., a world leader in the design and supply of forms for concrete construction, with operations in twelve countries.</p><p>Bob is the co-author of <em>THE ADVERSITY PARADOX - An Unconventional Guide to Achieving Uncommon Business Success</em>, which he wrote along with Barry Griswell.

Bob will share how they studied over two hundred people who overcame some sort of extreme adversity and use what they learned in doing so to help create high levels of success. He will detail the common theme they found in the research to help others successfully address adversity.
