I notice i have been getting a lot of hits on color wheel replacement, I'll try and get some pictures up to guide ya'll a little better in replacing that peice. Luckly I haven't had to replace one in over a year now. I will never buy another RCA television again though. I'm thinking Samsung =)

I have created a new website to sell PHP/MYSQL scripts as well as website templates. I am very proud of my first work ArKane Appointments Basic.

How It works

Simply add available times to Vcalendar©, for each day and time that an appointment is available. You can even break up the appointments by categories, or technicians or hairstylists. The appointment maker then accesses our script. Selects the category preference, selects the service to be performed during the appointment, and either selects a date or searches for the next available date. The appointment taker is then presented with 3 days of times to offer your customer. The appointment taker then confirms the appointment, and it is posted back to Vcalendar©. If you have multiple appointment makers as in the case of the telecom or service industry, it has built in error checking so that there is no overbooking of appointments, which can happen with web based appointment applications. ArKane Appointments can even be configured to take two appointment slots in the case of appointments that can take more than on slot.

Well, it has begun. I hope I am wrong, but part of the grand scheme to merge our great nation with Mexico and Canada would begin with our currency. Bankrupt the Country, make the dollar worthless, make America worthless in our enemy's eyes, and folks will scream for a solution.

Just watch in the wings, they will speak of a grand plan by which a new currency will be proposed, and a new alliance with our neighbors. It will will bring the promise of peace and prosperity to our new union.

While we sit comfortable in our homes, something is taking place that will shift the dynamic of World Power. The attack on Georgia might seem like a trivial matter, but it is the Russian attempt to assert their sovereignty on the world. This highlights how impotent we have become, because of our dependence on the product that is more powerful than all of the atomic bombs in the world and that is energy. If we take military action, Russia will turn off it's supply of oil to the EU and world supplies. This will have the effect of driving oil and gas through the roof. You think $4.00 gas is bad, try $15 to $20 a gallon.

The time for the sleeping giant to awaken again, is now. If not for the humanitarian reason, then because of our own self interest. Hopefully for all of us this will not be a trigger to World War 3

Open Source Moon Project

I'm a sci-fi buff and a bit of a geek. I have always wanted to be an astronaut from the time I was 5 years old. I remember watching the Apollo missions and dreaming that I could go one day. I even went to the point of nailing two 2x4's together and a tin can on the back and filling it with news paper as the fuel. I went to school the next day and shared my dream to become an Astronaut with the class. When the teacher said "that's a nice dream.", I rebutted her and said, "No, you don't understand I'm going tomorrow." Needless to say her and the entire class just stared and me.

The GOOGLE prize of getting to the moon got me thinking about this dream again.
So I was thinking, you know if we organized a group of folks from all over the world, engineers, programmers, and rocketeers and If we used the same model that has been used for Linux development think about how easy it would be to send a probe to the moon on a budget?

Everyone worldwide would do their little part, and the cost and overhead that it takes NASA would be considerably reduced.

The chance that this works is about a billion to 1 but I like those odds.

An Open Letter to Wal-Mart

To Whom it May Concern,

I know there is many folks that disagree with your expansion policies, and there is dozens of web-sites and bloggers that don't particularly like your corporation. But I wanted to highlight to the world that your compnay, without hoopla, or recognition has taken a series of steps to really care for the communities you serve. First you started with $4.00 perscriptions. I know many times I have stood in line and had to pay $50.00 a month for the 'scripts I take but seeing older foks shell out $180-$190 dollars in a pop really is horriable. Your company took the high road and instead of looking for even bigger profits on things that are a nessesity, you became a leader in compassion and have hundreds of drugs at a reduced price. Some antibiotics are even free.

Then comes Big Oil and the sickening amount of profits they have made of somthing that is a nessesity to keep this economy running. Familys are having o choose beteen nessesities and gas. Does Wal-Mart jump on the bandwagon, even though profits are hurt because of the economy?

Nope, and this is a biggy. I am a father of 4 and each year I have the privelege of shopping for school suppies. (Detect Sarcasm) Your company stepped up again and offered most if not all the common school supplies I needed for next to nothing. For example a 24 box of crayons for 16 cents? Reams of paper for a nickle? Again you could have been like big oil and gouged us, but Wal-mart took the high road.

As a father and a customer of Wal-mart, you have my repect and my buisness. Have you concitered opening a gas station?

PHP Maker 5

I have been beating my head trying to learn PHP. My boss needs some applications developed, and my knowledge of PHP is pretty limited. I have had some exposure to Zen-Cart but that application was already coded, all I had to do was learn how o modify it to meet my needs, without understanding how database transactions work, or the syntax. I found a little application that generates the code, all I have to do is style it the way I want the database information displayed. It is called PHP Maker 5 and it really simplifies the coding process and lets the designer focus on the results. I just hope my work is what my boss is looking for. Did I tell you she is great?

Numb on a Saturday

Hello world! I'm sitting here watching Van Helsing on TBS; the kids wanted to know if it is scary and I told them "no". Funny how we can become desensitized to things that scared us when we were children. It is a good popcorn movie, but so much today the movie is based on how many effects they can cram into a movie rather than the story itself.

I look forward to seeing the Dark Knight when I get around to it. Hopfully its not all flash and no substance.

A shining light in the Darkness

I don't know how this could have happened to the greatest country in the world. We have been given the sleeping pills of deceit, and have begun our slumber. While I was born in the 60's it I don't remember the revolution that took place. While historians look back and see division I see unity. Where people made the difference; Martin Luther King, Robert and John Kennedy, and many others, It seems that the government never wanted that kind of power to ever return to the people, and slowly, methodically we have been stripped of our red, white and blue banner of freedom and draped in the fog of stimulation and darkness of greed. The Constitution gave us the right to bear arms so that if we disagreed with the government we could start a revolution. The government has protected our rights in this regard, but will limit us to muzzle loaders. The constitution guarantees our right to free speech; but if you say the wrong thing and you are labeled a traitor. The United States saw the need for revolution because of taxation without representation; We are represented, but are taxed on what we earn, what we spend, and when we die. We pay taxes on what we save, what we invest and what we share. Our forefathers stood up when their tea was taxed. What will it take for us to stand up, to raise the flag of liberty and of justice and say that it is enough? Perhaps we are so over stimulated that we will never awake from our slumber again.

I feel a tide has come by which we will be unable to escape. But without hope, there is no point in living, so I choose hope. I choose liberty, and I choose democracy.

It is time for us to elect a leader that will strive to return us to the foundation our forefathers left us, a leader that will return the government to the people. We can choose to have our ears tickled by sly tongues or we can show we will not stand for or liberties to be stolen from us, cut off of us a piece at a time.

I see a glimmer of hope in the man that is Ron Paul. I see the shining light in the darkness that the government has placed us in. It is time for democrats and republicans to set aside their differences and vote their conscience, vote for freedom, vote for the light that is slowly fading. A patriot will stand up and do what is hard even though it might not agree with what the status quo is. Look beyond the makeup, the rhetoric and the celebrity and think for yourself. All hope is not lost, you can make a difference. Make our founding fathers proud; secure the future for your children and their children and return the government to our control. You have a choice my fellow americans, chose liberty.

Blessed with a Curse

Welp, I have the pleasure of having inherited horribly bad teeth from my parents. My teeth need to be replaced, but alas I don't have the funds. The result? One big fat infection, which isn't good considering I don't have a spleen. I went to the hospital and got some meds and they seem to have helped. But I find out while I'm there that my blood pressure in my other arm is sitting at 165/105. Not good. My doc is going to up my dose of Blood pressure meds to see if we can get it under control. I guess sitting on my butt and smoking 2 packs a day doesn't help either. So can you see the New Years Resolution coming?

RCA HD50LPW52 Color Wheel replacment

While I love my DLP wide screen it has become necessary to replace the color wheel several times. Since there is a lack of clear instructions on how to do this, I'll try to share how it's done.

Tools Needed

Phillips head screwdriver
Torx based Screwdriver (its the one that looks like a star)

First lay the TV on its face. Be sure and make sure there is nothing you will be laying the face on, because it will scratch the face. Remove all of the screws on the base only, there is about 20 or so of them so place them where you won't lose them. Remove the back plate.

Now remove all of the screws that attach the top to the speakers. Carefully slide the base away.

There is a cover that the lens is poking through, carefully remove that. You will see an aluminum looking piece that has two screws on it. a small wire coming from it and a copper colored tape. Carefully remove the wire and the tape wire. Now unscrew the color wheel housing.

Remove it, and replace it with the new color wheel, and tighten it up. Make sure you don't tighten it all the way, just so it is snug and reconnect the small plug wire and tape wire. Now do everything in reverse and you should be good to go. I will try and get pictures the next time I have to do this.

If you have been keeping up with the political scene you can see what sheep they think we are. Will real debate on topics ever return rather than the scripted debates they feed to us, in such portions that we no longer care to understand the real issues, We need someone who will restore the might and dignity to the United States, and then place its future back in the hands of the people.
Rule by fear, is not leadership but slavery. Greed and lust for power is not a virtue but a perversion of our obedience to the country's laws. Taxes are needed to provide us will all the large projects the government is responsible for , but who is the accountant giving us an accurate ledger of how are money will be used? I see another "special day" for a sale.

Boy I am still tired today, it must be the change in weather. Missouri went right from summer to winter quick, crazy ass weather. I am responsible for 23 people at my work and I must say they are the finest group of folk I have had the privilege of working with. It feels as if that you are standing near a cliff most days, just teetering on falling over the edge. But heck I love organized chaos, it can be an uncomfortable feeling at times though.

I have been searching for a way to get myself out of this hole I'm in debt wise. I started a business and it hasn't gone over to well. I have started a second website and it to doesn't strike me as the MUST SEE website. Maybe I'm trying to hard. Maybe I should try at all considering the chances to come up with the next Google or Digg is best left to the master programmers who's intelligence I can't begin to fathom. What does it take to make a million. The formula is simple enough one million one dollar bills.
