Of course, the trick is getting out and having some fun! Of course, winter driving can get a little nutty, especially when you're visiting Grey-Bruce. Here are this morning's road conditions...made our return to the city a little more than challenging. Luckily the last bit of road blocking our return re-opened and allowed us to make it home in time for our afternoon clients. I love winter.

On the Flip Side

Place a positive twist on everything that frustrates you. You'll feel better instantly.

For example:

I'm at home packing right now. This job sucks. But, on the flip side, I am moving into a new home; my first with my wife. It's the first step to starting a family and a new life closer to other friends and family members. Suddenly packing doesn't seem that bad at all.

Trust me, take this approach to all that is upsetting and you'll realize that other people are far worse off than yourself...

Tornadoes in U.S. South Kill 50 in Rare Winter Strike

Send help where it's needed. It was an awful version of purple and had lost its shape from the 500 or so washings it had endured in its lifetime. However, there was one distinctive feature that made this t-shirt special - it's logo. Logos for me today, don't have the same draw they had during my tennage years, when what you wore made the person (how misguided was I!!). Today, if it looks good, if it fits good, if it's quality materials, and doesn't say or represent anything conflicting, it's good enough for me. But today's t-shirt had a logo that brought a smile to my face that lasted the day. It was a Vaurnet. That name may or may not mean something to you, but for me, it was THE cool t-shirt of 1989-90, or more specifically, my grade 9 year. So, seeing that big V, brought back a flood of memories, strangely all of them good, and really made me feel great all day long. Try if you can to find your Vaurnet. Trust me, it's worth it.

The Game

SuperBowl sure is quite the event. Nevermind the media circus that surrounds the game itself. I'm talking about the parties. Aside from the sports I play, I also enjoy watching them. Amateur or professional, team or individual, it doesn't really matter. I consider myself a true fan. Unless I'm at the event itself, I prefer to watch sports alone. That way I can focus on the game itself, and not be distracted by the various goings-on. The Superbowl and Superbowl parties seem to be especially challenging, and of tomorrow is THE GAME. Superbowl parties seem to interfere in the watching of the game with all the mini-contests and pot-lucking and beer grabbing for others, it just gets plain annoying for someone who just wants to watch the game. I JUST WANT TO WATCH THE GAME!!

Waaaait a minute...I'm sounding a little grinch-like at the moment. Aren't sports meant to bring people together, encourage social interaction and teach kids some of life's great lessons? Aren't the intangibles a little more important than who wins and who loses? Of course they are. See you tomorrow at the party.

Words as Weapons

This whole world of blogging is a bit of a mystery to me. Perhaps it's because I haven't spent much time reading what other bloggers write, though I read news columns and editorials all the time. Sort of the same thing isn't it?

As I mentioned in my profile, I'm not much of a creative writer. In truth, I suck at it, big-time. English class was always my nemesis. Strange really. Learning languages and playing music is pretty natural for me, so it's not due to a lack of creativity. Nope, mine was a case vulnerability. i don't like sharing feelings. That's what holds me back. You see, words can be dangerous. Written or spoken, when thrown about haphazardly, words can cause significant damage. Whether it's a note passed in grade 9 math class, or an insensitive piece of commentary, written or spoken, words can hurt. Yes, the pen is mightier than the sword. Now, I haven't been scarred by someone lashing out, but I've always been guarded in what I say and who I say it to. Maybe this blog will help lower my guard a little and let the creativity flow. We'll see.
