Remember when our biggest problems were staying warm and finding food? We solved those by doing something revolutionary: working together. One person watched for danger while another grew crops. Someone built shelters while others taught the kids. It wasn't perfect, but it worked because we understood a basic truth - humans need humans.

Then we got smart. Maybe too smart.

We invented a brilliant hack: come up with ideas that make life better, get rewarded for it. The social contract was straightforward - give your time and effort now, be taken care of later. Help push progress forward, and society would have your back when you couldn't push anymore.

Setting up a DSLR as a webcam can be a bit tricky to do, especially if canon does not want you to do it. Here we will be setting up a T3i as a webcam without using desktop sharing. This could possibly work with other EOS DSLR cameras.

If you are planning on using the DSLR as the fully dedicated webcam, I would suggest that you purchase the power adapter to always have it on.

Kapaxen ACK-E8 AC Power Adapter

You are going to need to download the following applications. Each of the links is to the exact files that I used if you want to obtain the latest release use the source links.

Camera Live only works with Canon.

Now that you have all of those applications installed you will need to configure them.

Step 1 Configure EOS utility

It’s annoying to have to close the EOS utility every time that you turn on the camera. The fastest way to disable this is to go to your navbar and select

Do Not Launch EOS utility

Step 2 Configure Cam Twist

Open the application and go to the navbar and select

Preferences

Set up the frame rate to

30FP

The video size to

custom

with the following aspect ratio

1920 x 1080

Close the window.

YOU MUST FULLY EXIT THE APP!

That’s it for the one-time setup.

Startup procedure

This is a procedure that you MUST go through every single time that you want to use the DSLR camera as a webcam.

Quit all browsers if you are wanting to use the camera with a web application
Quit the three required apps if they are running EOS utility, Camera Live, or Cam Twist.
Start the applications in this order
1. Startup Camera Live
2. Turn on DSLR (Camera Live needs to say active)
3. Startup Cam Twist (Click on view and main window) Select Syphon double click and select camera live.
4. Minimize apps

Once you are eligible you must pay an initiation fee of $3,000 (wow!), plus the first semi-annual basic dues payment of $99. Thus, the total fee to join is $3099. Regular Dues are a minimum of $198.00 per year paid semiannually plus work dues calculated at 1.575 percent of covered earnings up to $500,000.

You only pay the initiation fee once in your lifetime. Very often the money you earn on your fist job will more than cover this.

CAN I WORK NON-UNION JOBS?

RULE #1. Always leave a message! Never assume that a person you are calling has caller ID, a person is NOT obligated to return your call simply because you placed a call to their phone… such expectations are to be considered Rude.

Caller ID is not 100%

Reasons for Caller ID failure are commonly as follows: No signal if a call phone is out of range of his or her network, most phones do not register a “New Caller” this also applies to phones being turned off… Roaming, and or Battery Failure. In my case, I get at least 4-12 "Pocket Dials" a week having a name with two A's doesn't help.

#2. Returning calls should generally be returned in the order that they have been received—exceptions are obviously Family/Spouse, Job/Business.

#3. Long messages are generally frowned upon. It is best to keep your messages quick and to the point; unless you have a special relationship and/or understanding with the person you are calling. (or you have a really cool accent or sexy voice) :-P

#4. When leaving phone numbers, never assume that the person you are calling has your phone number. [Always repeat phone numbers at least once] This is especially important with business related calls. Nowadays voicemails can be checked from multiple phones, computer terminals, etc.

note to iPhone snobs: not everyone can receive iPhone MMS (iPhone special messages, contact cards, and location spells etc.) so be conscious.

#5. The best way to send someone a number or address is (STILL) in a text. Since many calls are answered in the car, or in transit… where pen and paper are not generally available. It is best to leave numbers in text for practical reasons. (Although failing to do so is not to be considered rude) Always include your name, number, and type of phone (cell, home, work, and/or if you do or do not have texting feature, etc)

#6. Never assume that a person has free texting. Even though texting may not seem to be expensive. Realize that charging rates are for both sending and receiving of text and that some folks have text messaging blocked altogether. (Belive it or not I STILL know people who dont have free texting *Facepalm soOoo keep asking the question... or stop hanging out with those people s'up to you)

#7. “Mass Texting & Group Messaging” This is when you send out a generic text to multiple recipients (Examples: “MERRY X-MAS” or “hope everyone has a happy holiday”)

This is usually done on or around holidays. Usually thought to be cute and fun to those who have free texting; (Usually those who don't recognize the existence of #SocialMedia) BUT, THIS IS RUDE and also irritating to people who do not have free texting. So be aware… “Friends don’t let friends mass text”

Group Messaging is a reality, and people aren't getting it... but what makes it so annoying is the alert for every interaction... stay tuned for "Group Messaging Etiquette" coming soon!

#8. Answering calls while in front of guests or in public can be rude. Excuse
yourself from company while taking a call (failure to do so is to be considered RUDE) Be conscious of your surroundings… if you are talking we are listening to you :P

#9. If you are on a date or in a meeting it would be best to TURN YOUR RINGER OFF!
Also, LEARN how to turn your phone off without looking at it; many cell phones stop ringing as soon as you touch a button… Find out how yours works…

[HINT] On a date, learn to stop your phone from ringing without losing eye
contact. If he or she asks you, “Do you need to get that?” Say NO! “I will call them back.”

#10. BE Where You Are (IPHONE USERS!!!) Unless the phone itself is the topic of discussion. When you are with a group of people/friends and are on your phone for more than 60 seconds at a time browsing and or randomly searching the internet… please leave the group. This behavior would be comparable to silently reading a book in the middle of a group conversation. (It is to be considered both condescending and rude)

#11. If someone doesn't call you back in 3 days, assume LIFE happened and call them back. (unless of course you are a bitter old person with nothing else to do in life but gripe about how someone failed to stop everything in their life to call you and listen to a 2-hour conversation about how the government is conspiring to kill you and your moon landing, round earth denying Kennedy assassination Illuminati cat... In all other cases though, call back)

#12. [And lastly] the average text is 144 characters... If you can't get you point in 3 texts
messages— STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! that is called an "E-MAIL" so DO THAT! or call, Leave a message and move on...

How did Bill Paxton Die?

Bill Paxton has died at 61. (Photo: Brian To/Variety/REX/Shutterstock)

Bill Paxton‘s death was triggered by an aneurysm that required surgery which resulted in a fatal stroke.

According to the death certificate, obtained by TMZ, Paxton had just undergone valve replacement surgery to correct the aortic aneurysm problem when complications arose later and he suffered a stroke.

According to the death certificate, Bill had the surgery on Feb. 14 and died on the 25.
