When a society devalues life, from the unborn to the elderly and disabled, morals and values are thrown to the wayside to the detriment of all its citizens. As I saw during my time working at Planned Parenthood, when life is devalued, unborn babies and their mothers just become another way to boost the bottom dollar.

Senator Rick Santorum has the courage to lead by morals and absolute truths, which I find refreshing. He is a man of integrity and faith and I am proud to publicly offer my endorsement.

We had hundreds of protocols. Some were pretty common sense, others were not. One protocol in particular has really got me thinking over the past couple of weeks…IUDs. An IUD is a birth control method that is inserted into the cervix. They function in several different ways; however, the primary way they work is by creating a hostile uterine environment so that a fertilized egg would not be able to implant on the uterine lining.

Part of our protocol talked about the insertion and removal. The other part talked about when they could be inserted. Get ready for this…

Our protocol stated that IUDs could be inserted on pregnant women in order to cause an abortion. Yes. You read that right. If a woman came in and was early pregnant, we would insert an IUD to cause an abortion. She would have only been a few days pregnant. A pregnancy test would not have shown up positive. We didn’t have a confirmation of pregnancy. Out of sight, out of mind, right? How many children have been aborted because of this dangerous protocol? What is the real number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood? We will never know. Did we tell patients that this protocol would abort their child? Of course not.

A woman came in one day complaining of severe abdominal pain. She had an IUD. During her exam, it was determined that her IUD was the source of her discomfort…it would have to be removed. I came in to assist. I couldn’t believe what I saw. On the end of that IUD was a tiny baby. We estimated the child to be 9 weeks. That baby had been growing on the end of a birth control device. But not to worry, Planned Parenthood says IUDs are safe.

While working at Planned Parenthood, I decided an IUD would be the best method for me. After 3 years of use, I had no side effects…so I thought. After I had my IUD removed, I realized there might be a problem with my body. I had never had a problem getting pregnant, but several months had now passed, and every pregnancy test came back negative. What was going on? I had some blood work run and was told I didn’t produce several hormones. My body had tried to produce the hormones while the IUD was in…but the IUD won. My body couldn’t compete. I am only pregnant now because of NFP, supplemental hormones and an amazing doctor.

I found out several months ago that a woman had miscarried because of an IUD inserted at my clinic. She was pregnant when it was inserted. That isn’t supposed to happen…but mistakes are made…her child paid the price. She went to the emergency room because she was having severe abdominal pain. She didn’t know she was pregnant until they did an ultrasound to find out what was wrong. There was her baby. His heart had stopped. She had to deliver her baby and have her IUD removed all in the same visit to the hospital. He was 18 weeks old. Why did this happen? Because an IUD is made to abort children.

So, why would Planned Parenthood lie and say IUDs are safe? Planned Parenthood pays less than $300.00 for an IUD…they are reimbursed over $750.00 from the federal government (our tax dollars). Is that a good enough reason? It is for Planned Parenthood. Patients first? Prevention first? No. Money first…and always.

You entered the abortion industry because you wanted to help women. You were told that illegal abortion was dangerous. You didn’t want to see that happen to anyone. You came in with the right intentions. Or, maybe you just needed a job. Maybe you really didn’t know what Planned Parenthood was all about. Now you know. Now you see what abortion really is and you may feel uncomfortable…but how do you leave? You may be a single mom, or maybe you are woman who is supporting her whole family during this terrible economy. Maybe this is the first time you have ever had a job that offered insurance…not just for you, but for your children also. How will you support your family? Aren’t you doing the right thing anyway? Maybe you aren’t sure anymore.

You see people outside praying. You don’t know what they are doing. Are they praying for you or just the women going in to have abortions? You are told every day that they are dangerous and want to harm you. Do they? You have seen some crazy “pro-lifers.” Sometimes they may yell at you…or you have heard those stories from other workers you know. Sometimes they say hateful things. You hear about bombings at other clinics and workers that are killed…are these the same people? Your employer says they are. Some of them seem like they really want to help you. But you know you could never really trust them. They are the enemy, right?

You just don’t understand why people say that you coerce women into having abortions. You don’t feel like you are coercing them. It feels like you are just helping them make the best decision. I mean, a 14 year old shouldn’t be forced to have a baby. In fact, you went to a training on how to talk about abortion in “tough situations.” These women don’t seem to be upset when they come back. In fact, they are happy about the decision they made. They can’t thank you enough. So where are all these people that “regret” their abortions? You don’t see them. You tell women that “abortion is normal” and that women don’t feel sad after their abortion…maybe that is really true.

Sometimes women ask about their baby before the abortion. You don’t really know what to say. You haven’t been taught anything about fetal development. You really want to answer their questions…but you don’t know what the answers are. So, you just feel like you have to say something to ease the woman’s mind. You have only been taught about abortion. You know every detail of the abortion procedure. Why can’t these patients just stick to facts about abortion…that is what they are here for anyway.

People ask you where you work, and you don’t know why, but you always feel embarrassed to talk about it. Instead of telling them, “I work at an abortion clinic,” you simply say, “I work at a doctor’s office.” You just want to avoid the whole “abortion” conversation. Your family intentionally avoids talking about your job. It almost feels like they are embarrassed by what you do.

You hear about former abortion clinic workers…”traitors” they are called. When they are talked about, people always talk about how they betrayed women…how they betrayed the whole pro-choice movement. But you wonder how they did it? How did they get out? How did they leave everything behind? Their friends, money, stability…how could they do that? You have heard that pro-lifers helped them when they wanted to leave? Would they help you, too?

Yes, we will. We will help you. You can trust us. We don’t just want you to leave the abortion industry…we want a change in your life. We want you to find peace and happiness. You probably haven’t felt those things in a while. We know it will be hard for you to step out and trust people that are supposed to be your enemy. But if you will just take that first step, we will hold your hand through this difficult transition.

The road out of the abortion industry is not an easy one. Some people will question your conversion. Some pro-lifers will not trust you…some will even say terrible things about you. But remember, you do not want to leave to be popular…you want to leave because it is the right thing to do. Your current friends at work will desert you. You will literally be starting over. And even though that sounds like it would be really lonely, it’s not. It is the best new life you could ever ask for.

You may be confused and scared. Don’t be. We are here. We are waiting. We are praying.

Bishop Zurek,

This Sunday, December 4^th, I am entering the Catholic Church.  My journey has been a long one.  I have gone from directing an abortion clinic to a pro-life advocate…my final step is my Confirmation.  When I made this decision many months ago, I talked to Father Frank Pavone.  Fr. Frank has been a huge influence in my life since I left Planned Parenthood.  Because of that, I wanted him to be the person who administered my first Communion.  The tentative arrangements had been made.  Everything seemed to be falling into place…then he was sent to Amarillo.  Now, my plans have come to a screeching halt.  I am still getting confirmed, but I am now doing it without Fr. Frank.  He has been one of the most influential people in my life…and he can’t be there.

I wanted to share this with you for one reason.  The decision to keep Fr. Frank in Amarillo is not just detrimental to the pro-life movement.  It is also keeping him from doing what he does best…bringing people to Christ and to the Catholic Church.  That is what he is called to do as a priest, and now that ability has been stripped from him.  This conflict has now gone far beyond the Diocese of Amarillo.  It is affecting many.  It is affecting the best day of my life…the day me and my family will become Catholic.

I am not writing this to ask you to do anything.  I just needed you to know that your decision has tainted my Confirmation.  A very important person in my life will not be present…a person who has led me to the Catholic Church…a person who has stood beside me in difficult times…a person who epitomizes what a priest should be.

That is the memo, in its original form. Scary, isn’t it? What is scarier is that some of these things are happening…and they have begun to happen under Obama’s reign. “Reduce/eliminate paid maternity leave or benefits.” Sound familiar?

This memo was put out just over 50 years after the first Planned Parenthood clinic was opened. We are now a little over 40 years out from the publication of this memo. Look what has happened in those 90 years. Abortion has been made legal and continued to increase. Planned Parenthood is a non-profit giant in this country (and others)…just last year they grossed 1 billion dollars in revenue. They are pushing for no restrictions on birth control and abortion. And guess who is right alongside them leading the charge? Our Commander in Chief, Barack Obama.

Don’t be naïve. This memo is still Planned Parenthood’s ultimate desire. Abortion and contraceptives on demand…that is their goal. They will do anything to make it happen…including coercion, breaking the law, underhanded deals, and dirty politics.

It is time to fight back. I do not want to live in a communist country. That, of course, would be no problem for Planned Parenthood…they would end up on top in a communist regime. Just think of what could happen in the next 50 years if pro-lifers don’t stand up against this organization! FORCED abortion…it could happen. LIMITS ON CHILDREN…another possibility. Spread this message to other people who value life. Show people what Planned Parenthood is really about. Don’t be silent! Get the word out. Go pray at a clinic. Reach out to abortion clinic workers. Only vote for candidates that clearly state they will remove funding from Planned Parenthood. This memo is real…and it is really happening in our country. This is not just a fight we have on our hands…it is a war. Let’s put on our armor. Truth still matters.
