Chelsea chose the C155 by Allure to be her wedding gown. Chelsea had extensive alterations done on this gown to make it modest. She had the keyhole back filled, sleeves added, the lace on the bodice lined, and the neckline made higher. Her seamstress was amazing. I examined the dress up close when she brought it for pressing and I couldn't tell where one piece of lace ended and the next began. Ordering Time Reminder

As wedding season approaches it is important to remember that it takes 16 weeks to order a wedding gown. Occasionally we can get gowns faster, but you will still need time for alterations. We have gowns in our store to buy off the rack but for more selection you will need more time. The M476 by Allure is a gown that is taking the full 16 weeks to order.


M476

The C155 is another gown you will need a long time to order. Occasionally Allure has this gown in stock for a quick order but it's better to be safe and give yourself the full four months to get it in.

It's not fun to rush through your engagement. It will cause lots of unnecessary stress. You will be married for the rest of you life so take time to enjoy the planning process and remember to give yourself at least 16 weeks for your perfect dress to arrive.

I get asked what fabrics gowns are almost every day. The most common wedding gown fabrics are satin, lace, tulle, and chiffon. There are variations of each of these fabrics as well as different materials fabric can be made of. For example, you can find gowns made of silk chiffon, or polyester chiffon. While researching this post I came across this wonderful fabric glossary. It tells you more about the most common wedding gown fabric. I also found this article about lace. Since I found such great articles already written, I thought I'd just let you read what I found instead of trying to rewrite the information. Lazy, I know, but they just said it so much better than I could ;)

Dress of the Week: Zaria

This week's dress is the Zaria. The Zaria is new enough that we don't have pictures of it! The Zaria is available in White, in Ivory, and in Gold. It is a faux mermaid taffeta gown. The bodice has embroidery and delicate bead work. The skirt features horizontal pleats with vertical pleats under to give this unique gown a faux mermaid feel. The back has covered buttons over a zipper.

Since we don't have pictures, make sure you come see this gown this week! The Zaria is $50 off until Saturday, making it $949.

Hillary came over Presidents day for our $50 off sale. She ended up getting the Etienne in white. Her mom left this sweet comment on our blog,"Thank you for the kind service and having space for a mom and grandma and sisters." Everyone who came dress shopping with Hillary was so supportive and loving. It was a wonderful day. Hillary's mom said in the email that included these photos, "We loved the dress and everything worked out perfectly with it." Hillary used Joshua Gene as her photographer. He works in the Seattle and Portland area. Thanks for the beautiful pictures!

A lot of brides have wondered why we have holiday hours from November until New Years. During the Holidays people are concerned with Christmas shopping instead of wedding planning. We have shorter hours which reflect the times our store is busiest. We also spend more time with our families during the holidays. Until New Years our hours are Monday-Friday from noon until 6 and on Saturday from 11-6. Thanks for understanding and Happy Holidays!

Over the years of working at Abella Bridal I've had quite a few people ask me if I can change the price of a dress for them. When you ask me "What can you do about the price?" my answer has to be "nothing". As much as I wish I could do something for you, the prices are set by the designer and we would not be able to carry their dresses anymore if we priced their products differently for each customer. You can let me know what you're willing to spend and I'd be more than happy to find gowns in your price range. I can give you tips for how to save money on other aspects of your wedding, but please, don't ask me to change the price because I can't. I'd get fired if I did.

The price of a gown is determined mainly by these things: the materials the gown is made of, the popularity of the designer, the popularity of the gown, and the length of time a gown has been in stock. Like I already said, it's the designer that sets the prices. Every few months we get price list updates and have to adjust our prices accordingly.

While shopping for your gown keep your budget in mind and don't try on anything you can't afford. Bridal consultants should be willing to help you find a gown within your price range. With bridal gowns, as with everything else, you get what you pay for. If you buy a $99 dress directly from China it will most likely be poorly assembled from less than quality fabrics. If you buy a $900 dress from a reputable bridal retailer it will be a well made quality garment and come with services from highly trained bridal consultants.

Dress of the Week: Reese

This week's dress is the Reese. It is available in white and in ivory. The Reese is a delicate fit and flare dress featuring dotted swiss fabric. Ruching on the bodice ends at the empire waist that is offset with a dotted swiss sash. The Reese features a sweetheart neckline and pleated detail on a cap sleeve. Covered buttons accent the zipper back which ends in a chapel length train. The Reese is dotted swiss over satin.

The Reese is normally $525 but from Monday, December 12 until Saturday, December 17 at 6 when we close it is only $475. The dress of the week is always discounted $50 when it's featured. Come try on the Reese today!
