Android Nougat 7.1.2 Public Beta Now Available!

On Monday released the public beta of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update, which is the next maintenance release for Android Nougat. The company is also rolling out the beta to eligible devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program. Google claims that the new update is focused on fixing a number of bugs and also brings optimisations.
The latest Android 7.1.2 Nougat update will be initially available to Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, and Pixel C devices while the company has confirmed that an update for Nexus 6P can be expected to be released soon.

“Android 7.1.2 is an incremental maintenance release focused on refinements, so it includes a number of bug fixes and optimisations, along with a small number of enhancements for carriers and users,” said Dave Burke, VP of Engineering, in a blog post. Interested users with compatible devices can try the public beta for Android 7.1.2 through the Android Beta Program.says eligible devices that have already been enrolled should start receiving the Android 7.1.2 Nougat public beta in the next few days via over-the-air updates. Alternatively, users with eligible devices can also download and flash the factory images or OTA update files manually.

The final release of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat is expected to be made available in a couple of months. Same as the beta update, the final release will be available to Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, and Pixel C devices. Instant messaging app WhatsApp is working on a feature that will track the live location of members, allowing users to track the whereabouts of their friends in real time.
According to the WABetaInfo account on Twitter which is known for leaking information related to WhatsApp updates, the feature will work on WhatsApp beta version 2.17.3.28 for iOS, 2.16.399+ on Android and will be disabled by default.

"The tracking can be kept on for 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, or indefinitely. This comes in handy if you're supposed to meet the gang at a certain location and time, and you want to see how far away from the destination every one in the group is," phonearena.com reported on Monday.
The live streaming can also be disabled so that your group members can't learn where you are at any given moment, it added.

The "Live Location Tracking" is disabled by default, which means that WhatsApp needs to activate it when it is ready to be launched.

In December last year, WhatsApp added the features to revoke and edit the sent messages in a beta version testing. The feature is currently available in WhatsApp beta for the iOS 2.17.1.869 platform.
WhatsApp recently launched a video calling feature from India which was rolled out globally to other countries. The feature is available on all platforms -- Android, iOS and Windows.

With 160 million users in India, WhatsApp is available in more than 50 different languages around the world and in 10 Indian languages. Nearly 100 million calls are being made on the platform daily worldwide.

Bad News for Jio Users! Jio FREE INTERNET Services to End before March 31st?

Nowadays every second person having a 4G compatible handset is surely using the Jio free services, may you are reading this news on Jio's internet but there is a bad news for everyone using Jio services like you and us as Jio is seems to be ending up its free services before March 31st as Vodafone tells High Court that Jio's "Happy New Year" Offer violates TRAI guidelines.

On Monady Vodafone moved to Delhi High Court alleging that TRAI had failed to prohitbit badly viaolation of tariff orders and regulations by Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIO) by allowing them to continue their free offers.

Matter was came under Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva to be heard on 1st February, 2017.

Vodafone claimed that TRAI has also failed to implement Department of Telecommunications(DoT) circulars which lay down that all tariffs must be compliant of inter-connection usage charges (IUC), non-discriminatory and non-predatory.

"That the free i.e. zero tariff plan/promotional offer of said Operator (Jio) with no charges at all for services, is ipso facto non-compliant with the 'floor' as stipulated by TRAI in its own tariff orders, is IUC non-compliant, predatory and discriminatory and thus violates the TRAIs tariff orders and regulations.

"It is submitted that the said promotional offer was and continues to be in blatant violation of cardinal regulatory principles as IUC charges being the floor for the retail tariffs," the telecom major has said in its petition.

Vodafone has contended in its plea that TRAI itself in 2002 had told all telecom service providers that "promotional tariffs cannot exceed 90 days upper limit".

"The free offerings were illegal and also violates the 90 days upper limit fixed for any promotional offer (with) 90 days expiring on September 18, 2016 (even if counted from June 21, 2016) and in any event on December 3, 2016. The respondent (TRAI) ignored petitioner's representations and effectively deal with the same.

New Delhi: This is real bad news for Jio users. The free offer may well end before March 31. That's because after suffering huge losses, Jio rivals are in no mood to relent and allow the Jio free services. Now, one of jio's rivals has moved the court against the free offer.
Vodafone India on Monday moved Delhi High Court alleging that telecom regulator TRAI had failed to prohibit "blatant violation" of its tariff orders, directions and regulations by Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIO) by permitting it to continue with its free offers.
Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, before whom the matter came up, listed the matter for hearing on February one as RJIO had not been made a party in the matter, saying any order the court passes would affect the telecom company.

Thereafter, on the oral plea of Vodafone, RJIO was made a party.
Vodafone has claimed that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has also failed to implement Department of Telecommunications' (DoT) circulars which lay down that all tariffs must be compliant of inter-connection usage charges (IUC), non-discriminatory and non-predatory.

Vodafone has further claimed that due to TRAI's "arbitrary, irregular action/inaction", RJIO, "in the garb" of 'test service' or preview offer, amassed millions of subscribers by offering them free services during the so- called test period.

"Thereafter, the said Operator launched its services commercially with effect from September 5, 2016 and continued to offer free services under the garb of promotional offer known as 'Welcome Offer' and promised free services to its consumers until December 31, 2016," the petition has said.Vodafone's plea comes after Bharti Airtel and Idea moved the Telecom Disputes Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) alleging inaction by TRAI for RJIO's alleged violation of the tariff orders and regulations.
The pleas of Airtel and Idea are likely to be taken up for hearing by TDSAT on February 1.In its petition, Vodafone has sought direction to TRAI to "fully implement/ensure compliance of each and all regulatory and legal principles" laid down in the tariff orders, directions and regulations by the regulator or any other authority as well as to ensure that RJIO does not violate them. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced the demonetisation of 500 and 1000 rupees notes. Following which, numerous e-commerce websites have decided to either stop the Cash On Delivery (CoD) option all together or limit it to orders below a certain value. This has caused many to face inconvenience as majority of the online shoppers prefer CoD.

Now Snapdeal has announced a new payment option called ‘Wallet on Delivery’ to pay for items at the time of delivery through FreeCharge. This will allow users to pay only when the package is delivered. Buyers will receive a PIN to use in their FreeCharge app which, after confirmation, will charge you for the services.

‘The launch of Wallet on Delivery is an absolute need of the hour for consumers. This new feature by FreeCharge shortly after the announcement of the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes demonstrates our speed of execution in ensuring consumers needs are met in real time,’ said Kunal Bahl, founder and CEO of Snapdeal, according to a report by NDTVGadgets.

The FreeCharge wallet can also be used by users to pay for utilities, cab rides via Meru, online recharges, at certain offline merchants as well as to purchase items from Snapdeal.

WhatsApp enables two-step verification and can now play audio messages in the background

If you head over to your account settings in WhatsApp, you'll see a new Two-step verification option. Tap it to get to a screen that explains what 2-step verification is and get the option to enable it.

You'll then have to enter a 6-digit passcode that you'll be asked for each time you try to register your phone number with WhatsApp, and confirm it. You'll also need to give an email address that'll be used to reset your passcode should you forget it.

Once that's done, two-step verification will be active on your phone number. No one will be able to activate WhatsApp with the same phone number unless they have the passcode or access to the email account to reset it.

Another welcome improvement to WhatsApp, which was introduced a few beta versions ago too, is the option to play audio messages in the background. Previously, you had to keep WhatsApp open and stay within the conversation to hear any voice message received in it. Now, you can wander away freely, switch to other conversations or even other apps, and as long as the voice message isn't over and your phone's screen doesn't turn off, the audio will continue playing.

So I can finally listen to my aunt's 3-4 minute ramblings without hating myself each time I get tempted to move away from our conversation window. The joy!

There was also a point where WhatsApp made it possible to stream shared videos before/without downloading them, but that option either isn't live for everyone or has been taken off in the most recent beta because I can't see it on my phone.
