Don't you think I have a pretty odd name for an Indian girl?" asks Europa Bhowmik, pulling smoothly on the rowing machine, her arms moving in rhythm, her biceps rippling. It's the self-unconscious question of a teenager, one who's just completed her Plus Two and has dreams of a bright future in her eyes. But then, Europa — true to her uncommon name — is an uncommon girl. Not for her the dreams of studying medicine or engineering, completing her MBA, bagging a top job at an MNC.

For this 18-year-old, her body is her temple and she worships with a lot of faith and fervour. Europa is a female bodybuilder, a rare breed in Bengal. "I am 18 now and when I started, I was the youngest bodybuilder in the country. I think I still am," chuckles the 4' 11" girl, who won a silver in the lightweight category at the Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2017, which took place in South Korea in August. She treasures her victory.

What's in a name?

She herself explains the mystery of the name. "I was born on a ship called Samco Europa. My father is a captain in the merchant navy. My mother conceived on the ship and the crew decided that the name would be Sam if a boy was born and Europa if it was a girl. Thank God I am girl. I don't like the name Sam," quips Europa.

We catch up with her at a fitness fair in the city. As she speaks, visitors queue up to take selfies with this young fitness icon. But how did she get attracted to this uncommon profession?

It all started from the bullying in school. I am not tall. My friends used to bully me for being short and unattractive. This put a lot of emotional pressure on me. That was the time around puberty, when I was going through hormonal changes. I looked chubby and felt insecure. My mother suggested I join a gym. But that didn't help. I started dieting and became anorexic. The only good thing about this phase was, I realised that I was suffering from anorexia," recalls Europa.

While she was busy gymming on cardio machines, she was unaware of strength machines. "One of the gym trainers identified me and started grooming me. 'You need to be a bit more symmetrical,' he said. He introduced me to a balanced diet and I started exercising on strength machines. This regimen suited me," she adds.

In 2015, she first appeared in competition at a national-level bodybuilding championship in Belgaum, Karnataka. "Though I didn't win, I found my focus. I was floored by the chiselled bodies of other competitors. And there I found my coach Indranil Maity. I've never looked back," confesses Europa. In 2016, she won silver in the same competition. "I am hoping for gold this year."

Bodybuilding is all about showcasing muscles. "It is also about having thin skin; that is, the layer of fat under your skin should be extremely thin so that your muscles show prominently. To get this, we have an off season when we eat more and the on season, when we reduce our body weight," informs Europa, who is currently in a transition period. "Off season is the time when you don't look attractive but it is one of the most important phases. I eat a lot of carbs at this time. While many bodybuilders are wary of rice, I am happy. I also eat a lot of oatmeal but I am not a big fan of bread," she says.

In the on season, she reduces carbohydrates slowly, but the protein intake is usually constant. "I am a fan of meat. I don't consider chicken as meat, as it is boring. I travel a lot and love various types of meat. I love pork and I have tried crocodile, shark and clams," she adds with a chuckle. And when it comes to fat, peanut butter is her favourite. Europa emphasises, "I don't consume bad fat. I learnt how to cook without oil. There was a time when I used to cook my own food but now I have taught my maid. She cooks what I need. But my all-time cheat meal is biryani."

Living life to the fullest

On season is the hard-core preparation season and this is the busiest time in a competitor's life. Europa is very busy exercising to be "stage ready". On top of that, she is planning to open a gym in Lake Town. "I just completed Class XII from Calcutta International School. I was selected Student of the Year. But I have taken a gap year so that I can build my own gym," she says. Soon after her competition in December, she is set to go on a holiday in Switzerland, where she will meet her "special friend".

"If everything goes well, I will be going to Spain this summer to study BBA. But I will also use the time to go for advanced bodybuilding courses. My friend has put me in touch with a few institutions," says Europa coyly.

An inspiration for girls

"When I started, not many women were interested in bodybuilding. My parents were not very sure about this. Since they have never stopped me from doing anything, I could continue. However, it took me one win to convince them and not they are now super-supportive. These days, girls are also coming to me to get into a fitness regimen. This, I would think, is my biggest achievement," says Europa.

What does she feel about being a bodybuilder and a Bengali, a community not particularly known for physical prowess? "I have never looked at it that way. Bodybuilding is a rare sport and I pursued it as I wanted to be different. I wanted to stand out in a crowd," says Europa. And with a physique that draws eyes everywhere she goes, she sure does!

Very disappointed with Flipkart. Though in past, had some OK experience.

On 15th December 2017 at 11am, I took a product Lenovo k8 plus of rs 8999 in my cart. In cart its value was Price 8999

Festive pass extra 10% discount ( up-to Rs500)

That is 8999-500= 8499. HDFC card discount 10% making final price to 7649

After 1hour, when I was ready to buy, I saw rs8999 as final price, festive pass discount was not getting applied. I talked with customer care, they were even unaware of festive pass discount. I talk with their senior Vikas at level 2 and he promised to complete purchase with hdfc card discount in rs 8099 and he will reimburse rs500 after purchase. I did that.

After purchase, I made request in customer care to ship product only when issue is resolved. Why to pay rs500 extra? But product was shipped with complaint in unresolved state.

In 48hrs I received call and mail from FK that Festive pass discount is not applicable on Mobiles, large appliances and some baby products. I told that it gets applied. They asked my to send snapshop. I replied their mail with snapshot of festive pass discount being applied on another mobile and vu television which comes under large appliances category. Since then, no response.

I called customer care several times, but each time I got 48hrs time frame. I talked with their senior Asma Sheikh at level 2 and she told that Festive pass discount is applicable only on fashion products. Seems flipkart is just picking up gals from road and giving them senior position. Festive pass discount is applicable on most of products. Compare conversation of both seniors Vikas and Asma Sheikh, completely contradictory.

With another customer care, when I told, I need refund, he said only in case of complaint in mobile, u can get replacement. I asked if Flipkart cheated me, won't I get refund.

I disconnected call saying we shall meet in consumer court soon.

This is scenario of Flipkart and this is in short.

I made an order and below is the feedback for that.

Everything about Winni was good until the delivery person called me. Ur product was good, easy to order a product and everything was good but everything was ruined by your "So-called" customer service and Delivery unit. One of most annoying and worst delivery unit and the person I came across in my life.

1) Am from Chennai and I made an order in Bangalore to my Girlfriend as a surprise and u guys surprised me while delivering the cake. I can provide only the Address and Landmark of the recipient. Delivery person is called me like N number of times and irritated me to the core for more information and exact "PATHWAY" to reach the destination.

I have a doubt, Am I local to Bangalore or the delivery person. You are the guys who's providing services all over India, you guys should know the location and deliver the Product, not the other way around.

2) The delivery person is so so so so rude and he is making his own decision. I made the booking and specifically chose 11 - 11:59 slot and made a note in the website while booking that I need the cake to be delivered only after 11:50. I was very very specific about that. Delivery person called me and he mentioned casually that he has other orders to deliver and it's midnight, so he will drop the cake at 11 PM.

Am I a "CRACK HEAD" to make a booking in WINNI to deliver a cake at 11:50. I can ask any of my frds or any other local normal services to do that.

I kept on mentioning to him that recipient is not in home. She will be at home only at 11: 30, but he doesn't want to hear me out. He just wants to deliver at 11 and go. And clearly mentioned, he has his personal life to take care., Did I ask him to be a delivery boy.

3) Customer Care - At least you have to improve your customer service. After all the fuzz from delivery unit, I tried calling 8971272132 this number and told him about everything happened. He told clearly that he will try to make the delivery after 11: 30 at first. Nothing changed, Again delivery person called me and told he can deliver only at 11 and killing me for address and location to go(Am I a Google service)., I called the Customer service again and I don't know what happened, he said, that delivery will be done at 11,. I was so damn pissed after all the drama made by you guys.

4) This is was the total buzz kill and this made me hate WINNI the most and never want to book again, because of one person. He made her(my GF) to come to out to his place(Where ever he was waiting) at night 11: 20, and she guided him to her place and finally he ruined the B'day which I planned for days and delivered your stupid Cake after all the drama he made. If something happened to her at night, will you guys take responsibility?. This is was so horrible experience which we will occur. B'day went on Happy occasion to disaster. Please train your delivery guys and improve on your mistakes, this should not happen to another person again.

Well, didn't you ever came across these creatures disturbing you at your lunch table especially when some ripe fruits or an awesome smelling chutney's are nearby, these are not only annoying, it also does make these foods unhealthy for us.

What do you do in such case to get a permanent solution?

Well I, was on a hunt to figure out a solution and finally found one from one my close relatives advice. I have tried the technique and it successfully worked for me and here I am willing to share that secret home-based solution and am sure you are equally curious to learn it here.

Home based process to follow & get rid of house flies at your lunch table::

Take any fruit (of your choice or spare fruit on table)

Manage at least 10 to 12 numbers of cloves (you will find them at your moms kitchen) out of the lot

Pinch those cloves on the surface of the fruit (you have selected), looks something like I had tried before (see image)

Result::

Give some time for the action to happen, you will be amazed to see all those annoying flies are nowhere near your dining table, and I can assure it won't come back till the decorative fruit (with cloves on it) is there on the table.

I have often found an old and unused toothbrush useful to remove mud from underneath shoe, also it comes very handy to remove dust from thin corners of shoes before applying shoe-polish, it is to me a better alternative to shoe brush(as brush is fancier for shoe polishing)

An old toothbrush is very good for cleaning dirt marks often found around taps in your bathroom. In many times I have seen my mom doing this and found it useful. What you need to do is to moist the brush bristles with some vinegar and scrub it around taps using that brush, simple.

It comes to no surprise that women loves jewellery,but when it comes to cleaning old ones my mom does it best, she takes a slightly damp toothbrush by which cleans her delicate jewellery. Its perfectly done, girls you can try it out .

You may often find your comb getting dirty or messy so you need to clean them, well how do you do that? Let me say, all you need is take those combs together and put it in soup water for a night, let them soak till morning, now you can clean the bristles those combs with a good scrub of your same old toothbrush. Isn't it useful.

Wetting an old brush and rubbing it across our lips lightly can remove dead skin from your lips.
I have often found my sister doing this technique, and this easy go method is also very inexpensive.

Have you ever click on a Hashtag(highlighted keywords) , if yes then you must have seen a feed of posts that include that particular Hashtag (keywords), you will also find some similar related hashtag at the top of the page.

I once again remind you by saying, if you use a phrase as hashtag it must be written as a single term (with no space in-between)

## Know How Many Hashtag Allow On Instagram ?

In Instagram, you cannot other people's photos or videos - but you have the liberty to tag in your circle up to a limit of 30 (maximum 30 tags for every post) else if you exceed the limit or go beyond 30 tags per post(photo/video) your comment won't be posted.

It is necessary for you to know, that the quantity of Hashtag you use in a message or Tweet is as important as the types of Hashtag used.

# They say that it is presently considered acceptable, if you Tag (Hashtag - #) a post only once when contributing to a specific conversation.

# Two Hashtags are considered acceptable when you will add a location to a conversation

# While an absolute maximum of three Hashtag can be seen post but it should be used very carefully as it may bother a specific community.

We need to keep in mind, misuse of Hashtag may lead to annoyance to viewers or your followers, which may go up-to the extension of the suspension of your profile in some special cases.

If is better to know, that social network like Twitter has a rule, that warns its user a fair usage policy, that says adding Hashtag to unrelated Tweet or repeated use of some specific same keywords without adding value to the conversation (of your post),could cause a profile to be filtered from search or even to an extreme case (violation of usage policy) may be suspended without notice.

It was a week ago, I had to scan an official document of my dad and as it is often said at the time of need, thing don't workout your way, same happened with my desktop scanning machine. It was really tough to convince my dad in that situation; so then, I ask my brother if he has some alternative to help me out, and luckily as I would say; he told me about "Cam Scanner - App". Yes, that saved my reputation for the day when my desktop-scanner took a U-turn.
But as I continue with my story let me tell you :

WHAT IS A CAMSCANNER ?

CamScanner is an Android App, you can even find it on iPhone App Store. It will turn your smartphone or tablet into a portable document scanning device. It uses the camera on your smart gadget to take a snapshot of a document and then provides additional useful features like:

## Image adjustments (very useful as it auto adjust crease or folded papers and perforations) .

## Multiple - page PDF conversion - very useful to make instant official PDF ebook

## Document sharing options via email, also via Bluetooth or SHAREit .

## Cloud storage integration (like it sync to Dropbox or Google docs etc)

In a recent technology summit I followed, the CamScanner creators had also suggested that using this app can be very useful to capture (unlike normal photographs) lot of diverse documents: archive important newspaper articles, legal papers , whiteboard presentation at classroom (very useful for students to take down notes) , book photocopying, ID cards, driving licence, gift coupons, and etc.

## Let's find out how CamScanner-App works, as I take you through the steps I followed :

In order to scan a print document from paper; first you need to capture a snap shot of the document(in my case, the sample newspaper). Although it was a lowlight area, it didn't bother me as I have used automatic capture settings (auto image trimming and auto flash mode) and by the automatic flash mode the application uses the built in led flash of the device to evenly illuminate the area of scanning. One of the most useful part of camscanner-app is that automatically detects the uneven edges of the page and adjust accordingly to make it even edges. It also manually fine tune, auto zoom in - out and uses crosshair cursor function while processing goes on .

After the scanning is done you can rename it and this app also gives you the liberty to tag your scan document, so that you can further discover it easily. Export the file in two options as pdf or jpeg, you can also combine this scan with your previous scans (if any) to make it a multi-page document as I have told you before,very useful to create a PDF booklet, eBook

Sharing is even more easy on CamScanner ,tap on the share icon and send it via email (eg Gmail or email acc you use) or Bluetooth, SHAREit, Xender app, SuperBeam (any of the installed app on your smartphone). You can even print this document.
This app (camscanner-app) can be integrated to the cloud storage service you use like Dropbox or Google docs etc.

If you ask for my review suggestion, I will certainly suggest you to try it, I have found it very useful, much better, saves time and hassle free way to scan and digitize paper documents at anytime, anywhere and keep a photocopy intact far better than the native function of what your phone camera can able to do.

## To request a one-time-password or OTP (in short form) to log into an unknown or insecure device,
you need to send a text message with the message "otp" to
9232232665 (for Webaroo - Bsnl network) or to 51555
(for any-other Indian network).
Within a minute, you will receive a text message in reply with unique one-time password.

## Go to Facebook login page. First enter your username or email id and followed by the 8 digit otp into the password field. If you enter everything OK following my instruction, within 20 minutes you log into your Facebook profile without worrying.

Note ::
** Please note that the OTP password is valid for twenty minutes.

** Do also note, in order to use the Facebook one-time-password system, you need to register and verify your mobile phone with Facebook first. This is necessary to prove that you are the owner of the phone number for your smart gadget .

Having read my earlier journals on the most useful panels found in Adobe Premiere or Macintosh Final Cut Pro (the professional editing console commonly used in Kolkata - West Bengal and other eastern India ) you must be well aware of. But along with those panels or windows there are some more panels; very useful and are available in Adobe Premiere Pro. Some of them are accessible by clicking tabs in the default panels, while few others can be found in the window menu.
I enlist those panels with a brief description, so that you can have an idea how it's work and when it is useful while editing :

## The Info Panel (information panel) ::
Provides information about the selected objects. You can check every detail of the clip may it be audiovisual or video alone or audio along or any graphics or still photographs etc.

## History Panel ::
This panel displays a list of recently performed actions and also allows you to move few steps back through multiple undo levels (ctrt +z) to previous version or forms.

You can drag these video or audio transitions or effects from the panel to the timeline (sequence) clips or footages. Effects and transitions can then be customised or modified with the effect control panel,and this is our next panel to cover.

So in today's journal I will proceed further to discuss on
The Current Time Indicator (CTI) or Playhead and it's application in Adobe Premiere Pro ::

The Playhead or The Current Time Indicator (CTI) is a blue triangle indicator which shows you where you are positioned in the timeline currently. The Playhead is used in many different panels, as follows :

⭕⭕ In the main timeline the Playhead appears with a vertical red line overlaid on the sequence tracks.
See picture below :

⭕⭕ This Playhead is also linked to the program monitor (final display screen) - the monitor shows the exact same frame as the playhead positioned in the timeline. When you play the sequence you will see the Playhead or Current Time Indicator moving from left to right across the timeline.

That’s not all let me tell you Playhead or CTI also found in other panels such as the source or preview monitor and Effect Controls panel as well.

What useful activity the Playhead or CTI does? Yes, that's what you much be thinking right !
A lot of tasks depend on the position of the Current Time Indicator, please follow the below points ::

⭕⭕ You can paste video or audio clips into the sequence

⭕⭕ Insert /overlay (import footage to timeline from preview panel) to an assigned location into the sequence

⭕⭕ Adding markers to a clip or sequence.

⭕⭕ Splitting or razor at current time indicator (shrt key: CTRL+K) :: This splits any unlocked clips at the point where the CTI or playhead is positioned.

Now you can learn how to reposition the Playhead or Current Time Indicator, as I go through different ways you can follow in simple descriptions :

⭕⭕ Click anywhere in the time ruler and the playhead will go there instantly.

⭕⭕ You can also drag the playhead left and right to scrub through the sequence.

⭕⭕ Snap to the edit points by pressing the Shift key while dragging or even page up and page down key option does the same thing.

⭕⭕ You can also find another option e.i. at the left of the timeline panel, drag the time display or enter a specific time.

⭕⭕ In the monitor panel(specifically output/program window), use any playback control button.

Hence, today’s topic I will be writing is on Timeline Panel describing (as per my capability) ::

How does timeline workspace panel works in Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro ?

So let me tell you how important is timeline window in Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro(runs on Mac OSX). The timeline window is where your video takes shape, it is that region on film editing or video creation user interface where a story starts building from rough cut to final cut (as it is technical said my professional editors). By inserting (not to drag as I suggest) the video footages from viewer monitor or source panel and placing them in a definite order called sequencing footage and it is roughly drafted to storyline based script (in-case of fiction films/video creations like soaps n serials ) or a visual story-flow; hence you create a sequence of clips and events which play in the timeline from left to right.
With rush or footage (visual or audio or both) in the timeline, you can ::

# Adjust edit point

# Make a visual clip shorter or longer

# Stretch them over time (as required)

# Creating multiple layer of video is possible, e.g. Raw footage, superimposed images or pictures, still or motion graphics from after effects, titles, name cards, location astons superimpose or lower thirds etc.

# Creating multiple layers of audio /sound, e.g. voiceovers , music, sound effects superimpose, ambience tracks, folie sounds, etc.

# Add a video or audio transitions like crossfade, dissolves, constant gain or constant power etc, video filter to enhance the mood of the clips as per required by the storyflow, special effects plugins if install(or those pre installed in Premiere or Fcp ) comes very handy and useful, etc.

# You can also create "nested" sequence sequences to help keep the timeline manageable.

When you have finished editing the timeline, you can play it back in real-time playback or can also export the part-of or entire edited sequence, into many different audio visual formats like QuickTime movie (.mov),Audio Video Interlace (.avi), compressed format like .mp4 or.mpeg video formats, Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro also supports portable device formats like iPhone, iPad, Smartphone, .3gpp format is also a very common format for mobile devices which occupies very small storage space at your mobile phone, you can even transfer your video creation(as .3gpp file takes very minimal data volume) like funny jokes or social events documented by you to your WhatsApp friends and users you know.

I start this journal as a continuation to my early one that I wrote last day, where I have covered the first step on organizing and customizing user interface of a professional film or video editing setup (Non Linear Editing setup - NLE ), and the first window being BROWSER is already covered . Give a look, just in-case in missed out.

In today’s section will detail on the next Window called VIEWER /SOURCE monitor.
Please follow the steps as I go through :

#1. A dedicated window for Viewing Purpose :

A space where video footages are transported from the browser/project window.

#2. Footage Selection and Trimming features :

The transported footages are then viewed, sorted and selected before they go for a trimming. We can able to view those video clips or Rushes (as they are called technically) as and where from the playhead (cursor in case of video editing software) passes. If we pause at anypoint of time while reviewing a/v clips that exact point of playhead location is mapped by timecode (generally it is followed in this format as hh:mm:ss:frames)

#3. Mark In and Mark Out features for marking and selecting clips comes very handy for editors:

From the entire audio/visual clip a part is marked by mark in point (shrt key - I) as starting point and the end point is marked by mark out point (shrt key - O). After marking the duration of the clip as per the demand, the length of the clip is found at the right hand corner of the viewer/source window (in this format hh:mm:ss:frames). This is also the exact length of the clip selected, so now you can easily note it down on logsheet or TV program schedule sheet if necessary.

#4. INSERT and OVERLAY buttons :

Next to the above step you need to put the trimmed clip onto the timeline so how do we do that? No no, you must be thinking about dragging the clip down to the timeline window but that is something which a novice editor would love to do; I consider you as a learned editor right!! So the step you will do is to INSERT that clip which can be done either by using the shrt key (ctrl + , ) or you will find another virtual button, below right on the viewer/source window (looks like).
Apart from insert option you will find another called OVERLAY , shrt key (ctrl + . ) or the button just beside insert virtual button, (looks like). This option also import clips into timeline
alike insert button but it also replace or overlay clip over another existing video or audio clips it comes very handy in placing overlay graphics and animated clips over video footages .

#5. Navigation buttons are very useful :

Other commonly used navigation tools include play /stop /pause button, mark in point and mark out point button, goto mark in and mark out button is another helpful button, you can easily go to your marked starting point and end point at one click, keyboard shrt cut can be used (go to in point - q and go to out point - w) in adobe premiere cs3 ; (go to in point - shift +i and go to out point - shift +o , in Apple Mac. Final Cut Pro and also adobe premiere pro cs5, cs6, cc and above ), jog wheel is another tool often used to locating close in clips via playhead very smoothly. Shrt key ( -> and <- ) are used to to move one frame forward and one frame backward resp. Use of marker is very useful to mark a location for further reference.

#6. Toggle take audio/video option :

Toggle take audio/video option help you to select whether to opt to import only video to timeline, or only audio/music to your timeline , if both audio cum visual together is your need to put into sequence then go to a/v options. So an editor can find three different options to choose from.

#7. Action safe window can save you from embarrassment if known how to use the safeguarding margin :

Action safe area grid and Title safe area grid is a very useful tool to safeguard missing out of a frame par which include important characters and subjects, before importing to timeline one can check if any important character or subjects(most important props in case) is out of the safe area margin (if it is part or full outside) editor can give a second thought and should opt for any alternative shot if available; same goes with Title safe margin but it is more important to consider in the output window called Program or Canvas.

How to Organize - Customize your Browser(Project) window in a Professional Video Editing SetUp

Many professionals, students of multimedia as well as newbie independent film makers have come across some professional video editing softwares like Adobe Premiere Pro or Apple Mac based editing setup, Final Cut Pro 7 (FCP) etc. Today I want to start discussing a detail on Browser(FCP) or Project window (Adobe premiere) inside editing software user interface, respectively :

A Browser or Project window is one of the working windows in video editing software user interface, and the other windows are
# Source /viewer window -
# Canvas /Program window -
# Timeline window -

Unlike the other three windows on video editing software interface, Browser window has a unique reason to use, it can be compared to a book library ;alike a book store/library,this window interface is used to store audio/visual footage in an organised manner. The following steps will guide manage and ways to properly arrange the stock footages via proper naming and customising folders :

#1. Folders/BIN are like book racks use them properly to avoid confusion :

You must have seen books are arranged so properly in a library,and the librarian maintain on a daily basis, this is done; so that we don't find it difficult to discover books when we need one, this is exactly what you should also do and arrange it in a particular BIN(folder)

#2. Proper Renaming of BIN is important to categories items :

Proper Renaming of BIN is important to categories items imported into the Browsers or Project window. Anything like untitled folder or new folder or #DS#%&# or video 1 / music 3 has got no meaning so try to avoid such renaming your bins or folders (sub-folders) .

#3. Assigning Coloured Labels to Footage or Bin can be very useful to priorities items :

Yes, assigning coloured Labels to your stocked Footages inside or Bin can be very useful to quickly check out priority rushes inside the window.

#4. Create sequences and learn how to arrange them inside folder :

You can also create one of more sequences inside this window,
use the shortcut [ ctrl + N ] / [ cmd + N].
After you create more than one sequences, I suggest you to enclose them inside a bin. So that further you don't need to hurt here n there inside the browser window.

#5. Create and customise Title :

Creating and customising Title for basic intro card, lower third or name and location aston for news and video publishing, title is also very needful for subtitles making for a film or narrative presentations. You can find so many useful tool inside titling window, you change font type, colours, pre comp templates too come very handy at times, stylizing font position can make your presentation standout.

#6. Synchronisation via Bars and tones :

Bars and tones is a one click process which is very useful for Synchronization of Visual colour grading and audio sync for a/v mismatch.

#7. Preview a/v screen is useful as you can preview footage before dragging into viewer/source window.

#8. Other needed items include black video often used as slug , transparent video, colour matte used in various process like creating instant background to your scrolling titles, astons inside editing interface without transferring to Adobe Photoshop , title slates while in the rough cut process,etc.

A few days back a YouTube video release 'Hate Story 3 Official Trailer' had caught our attention, right? Yeah, it's gone so intense and engaging that it went a mind blowing 18 million+ viewers hit in less than 2 weeks which is still counting as days go by, no no don't you think that the film has released, it has not. So imagine how well it will do on its first screening on multiplexes .

So, my readers and students I want to ask you how well do you know what is a Teaser how different is it from Trailer, is Promo as we often see on TV has got any similarly with Trailers ? Well if you know the answer, please comment below your answer and to the rest I want the share :

What is the difference between a Teaser vs a Promo vs a Trailer.

So let's get started with the topic :

WHAT IS A TEASER ?
A teaser is like a short trailer that is meant to tease, excite and create a hype to the audience. It gets into public discussions that build mass awareness early. Teaser usual doesn't reveal any story elements or great detail. It is also the first to be released, in many cases be it for TV soaps or in Movie is filmed before the footage for the original project itself has even began.

WHAT IS A TRAILER ?
A trailer is much longer than a teaser and it reveals more story elements and gives more insight into the movie. It gives you a very good understanding of what is in the film by including things like dialogue, plot, songs, cast and clues as to what genre it is etc.
A trailer is a short, edited taste of what the movie promises to be.

WHAT IS A PROMO ?
A promo is used to promote the product and is usually released close to the release date or even after to remind people its out. It can sometimes show critics reviews and it gives the exact release date. It's usually brief and shows short clips.

Basically they are shortened version of each other, as promo being the shortest about 5-10 seconds long (technically) ; teaser a little longer about 15-30 seconds ; trailer the lengthiest of all can be considered around 1.5 - 2.5 minutes.

But they come under a common category as they all are sales tool.

A Positive Outlook to a Common Problem of Students Life

Hey students and my lovely readers - I welcome you again to my blog - abhirupsblog.
Today the topic I am going to cover is very important especially to all students for their careers. Let's start with a practical reference, a true incidence a few days back from now. It is after Durgapuja a friend of mine called me up for Bijoya Greetings, in the mid of our telephonic interaction I asked him how is he doing these days, when I was interrupted, and excitedly he continued saying he is longer wish to continue job, it no-longer interest him apart from money; and he feels he has an option to start-up his own. He has experience - ideas to get things happening - networks, his added benefit - he also continued saying his tested concept have enough scope to excel in this market,but what really made me curious, as to why or what is the factor stopping him from taking that first step - if he has already taken the U turn 2 years back. Hence, I had to ask, '' tu ne abhi tak start keu nahi kiya, agar yeh baat thaan hi liya dimah meh & especially to what you believe in so much.''. I didn't find a reason to discuss the entire part over phone especially on someone's career so close to me, rather asked him to hangout over a coffee someday, he was excited and we meet the next day.

I exactly remember the day, he started with an approach to convince me as to why he couldn't start his dream career, I found a negative approach towards life and I had a sense that he need a true companion to guide his confused thought. He has the spark but clueless as to how to head on further & more interestingly he was in alltime low of confidence sitting on a myth, thinking whether he is absolute prefect to start or the resources he have is cent percent proof, does he actually qualify to start? Yeah(laugh), hope you all feeling petty for him, but interestingly many of us around are just like that, he was not among the odd one, he represents each one who is a firm believer of such related myth or wrong illusions towards life. I like to share the points I discussed with him which I believe and implemented that made my life better than before (a self-tested belief) .

" Be a positive thinkr, success is bound to follow you " - abhirup, as I say and firmly trust the same way.

1. Your decision to up the take first step - can make all the difference ::

As I have mentioned above its an absurd to believe that you need to be best to begin a new journey in your career, better to understand that you will automatically qualify as a person when you have the determination to take the first bold step without hiccups to any constructive path you choose in your life. This decision is most important .

2. You can start from anypoint ... but the point is you should start somewhere ::

It’s not a fault if you are born poor, but it will be a sin if you die poor. So it's not important at which point your journey started ( whether it's 5% or be it 55% qualified ) the ultimate game changer is the commitment and that you tell yourself as to you ready to progress everyday (without excuses) atleast a single unit more than what you were last night.

3. No Greats are Born Genius ::

No Greats are Born Genius, it is that steady journey without giving up at any point, as & when they face challenges that acceptance is their greatness, as they say,Daar Ke Age Hamesa Jeet Hota Hai. For a successful person failure is not a problem, getting-up every time, in-spite of several failure is their ultimate reason to victory. Always remember .

4. There is always a zero to any start but if you continue with a believe that one day you can make it, day is bound to come someday :

Starting with whatever skill & talent you have is more important than wondering what you could have had more to take the courage to start. There is always a zero to any start but if you continue with a believe that one day you can make it, day is bound to come someday. As Steve Jobs said ''You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.''

I also believe that whatever happens in our life, happens for a purpose, and you need to believe in it and focus on your karma.
Be honest to your effort and you will get back what you deserve.

Hello My Dear Students & Readers - I wish all Subho Vijaya Dashami / Happy Dussehra - hope you all are enjoying a lot this Puja, I am feeling great to join you here again to discuss another topic for students .

Many young editors come for an interview to a TV Channel/ Production for a job, but strangely most of the candidate get stuck/eliminated on practical round when they are given to create a project and edit a basic a/v , it become even awkward to say that they cannot even create a new project following the basic steps, a few days ago my production senior suggested me if I can discuss those basic step as a guide to all young editors before facing the interview.

Before you begin to edit a project in adobe premiere or any other editing software alike, there are a few basic but important decisions that you need to make about the project. While they're easy to do, you should be careful because these will affect everything. Here is a quick guide to help you out.

How to Create a New Project in Adobe Premiere ::

When we open Adobe Premiere the program starts by giving us two choices. Create a new project or open an existing one. We're going to create a new one.

New Project Settings ::

The "New Project Window" will appear and filling in the settings is the first step in editing your movie. There are two tabs in this window. "General" and "Scratch Disk." The general settings include what area will be action and title safe, the display format of the video, the display format of the audio, the capture format of your video, and the name of your project.

Leave the title and action safe areas alone. Make sure that the display format of the video is 'Time Code' and not feet. If you were doing an off line edit for something shot on film then you would make that setting feet so that the negative cutter can use the Edit Decision List to cut the film. But we're concerned with video. Also, make sure that the Audio Format is set to audio samples.

Capture Video Format ::

If the project involves digitizing video that was shot on a tape then you should concern yourself with this option. This decides what the file format will be for your captured video. Pick a file format that you're comfortable with and can get smooth play back from. If you are editing from footage that is on a memory card then it has already been digitized and you do not need to concern yourself with this part.

Naming the Project :: (most important part as students miss out often)

The name of your project should be simple and relevant.It should not be left as untitled/new folder. If you ever need to open it again three years after it was completed you shouldn't have to hunt it down on the hard drive.

Setting a Scratch Disks location on Hard Drive ::

When you add an effect to a video clip or create a title or transition you need to create a preview file so that you can see smooth play back. These preview files save onto a scratch disk. Pick a location that has a lot of memory for the scratch disk because these files can add up quickly.

Sequence Settings ::

Your sequence is also know as the timeline. Here you will create a sequence based on the video format you're editing with and the aspect ratio that it was shot at.

Once your sequence settings are created you can start editing your project.

What is video editing ?

Video editing is a process that manipulate and rearrange video shots to create a new work. It is also true that video/film editing is considered to the most essential part of post production ; other post production process also includes colour correction, titling, sound mixing, etc.

I have heard people(that include some of my early clients too) say more often to describe video editing as the entire part of post production process, which is in actually practice not true. Whether or not you choose to be picky about terminology is up to you. In this blog I am reasonably liberal with terminology and will use the word editing to mean any of the following :

** Rearranging, adding and /or removing part of video clips and /or audio clips.

** Applying colour correction, filters and any other enhancement.

** Creating transitions between clips.

THE GOALS OF EDITING :
There are many reasons to edit a video /film, and to all my dear students and fellow editors you must note this point that all your editing approach will depend on the desired outcome,so before you begin you must clearly define your editing motive, which can include any of the following :

**Removing unwanted footage :
This is the simplest and most common task in editing process. Many videos can be dramatically improved by simply getting rid of the flawed or undesirable footages.

**Choosing the best available video footage :
It should be a common practice to all motion video photographers or cinematographers (films) to shoot far more visuals than actually need and choose only the best video material for final editing. Often you will find a professional group shoot several takes (versions) of a shot and choose the best one when editing.

**Create a flow while developing story in editing :
Most of the videos serve a purpose such as providing an information or telling a story. Do note that editing is a crucial step in making sure video flows in a way which achieves the goal.

**Adding special effects, graphics, music :
This is often the exciting part of video editing. You can improve most videos and have lot of fun by adding extra special effect elements.

** Alter the style, pace or mood of the film/video:
As I firmly believe, a good editor will able to create subtle mood prompts in a video. Techniques such as mood, music and special effects (technically visual effects) can definitely influence the reactions of the audience.

As I sum up this topic, I want to add a point; as an video editor, a video can be tailored to support a particular viewpoint, impart a strong message or serve an agenda.

What is Offbeat Meditation ?

Hello my dear students - readers - bloggers - vloggers hope you all are having a great Sunday especially to all my Bengali friends out there, busy shopping all day, right as we bengali's are heading towards Durga Puja next week.

Anyways let's start with today's blog as I write for you on Offbeat Meditation :

A few days ago I was studying and experimenting about our daily lifestyle, I happen to get more excited when I discovered something called offbeat meditation and I tell you exactly why do I feel so:

Offbeat Meditation

In a study I found that some researchers are mapping brain activity of tango dancers that suggested, tango dancing could be as effective as mindful meditation in reducing symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression.

I here listed out some of my choice I found interesting to practice :

Hiking is an awesome way to meditate. You should start slowly, lower your usual speed, try to focus, concentrate on your breath rather putting feelings on your body. Try to choose comfortable route. Hiking meditation is designed to claim your mind and stimulate your senses resulting in connection with nature.

Labyrinth walking can be another option, if you are looking for a mesmerizing moving meditation to find some inspiration.

Another unusual style of meditation is fixed gazing, also called Trataka, it encourages you to focus inward by staring at a fixed object while sitting or standing. Better eyesight - pain relief - lowers stress levels are some alleged benefits associated to this practice. Trataka can be very intense helping one to focus better on any work.

I suggest to start slowly, stare for just 15 —20 seconds, with ample of rest time.
