While the article mainly focused on NB-IoT and then a bit on Reduced Capability (RedCap), it did not go deeper into the trajectory of cellular IoT to provide at least some insight on how it believes that cellular IoT has failed. The question is valid, but one that can be answered now with a definite NO!

Has Cellular IoT Failed? In addition to earlier partnerships, SpaceX recently announced a new partnership with VEON and Kyivstar to roll out services in Ukraine. While the commercial rollout of satellite Long Term Evolution (LTE) is accelerating, the true inflection point for the market will come after Starlink’s success stories in Ukraine—a story or strategy awfully familiar.

FBI Warns Consumers off RCS Messaging, Bolstering Messaging Apps and Slamming Manufacturers’ Failure to Work Together

A lack of security in Apple-to-Android/Android-to-Apple Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging has been highlighted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), dragging the failure of manufacturers to work together into the spotlight again. As the second nationally established AI-focused ministry after Singapore, this move underscores Malaysia’s growing role in and intent to be an AI hub in the region. It also signals a potential trend, with more countries in Southeast Asia (SEA) likely to establish AI offices in the coming year. This could lead to accelerated innovation and increased regulatory control, particularly in trust and safety.

Hyperscalers Face a New AI Hardware Dilemma: Deploy Off-the-Shelf AI Infrastructure or Invest in Custom Solutions

NVIDIA has been the dominant force in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) data center market, to date, but increasing demand for power, performance, and cost efficiencies is creating questions for hyperscalers—is “off-the-shelf” compute, networking, and memory sufficient?
