I’ve decided to move this blog to the Tumblr blog I’ve been keeping for over a year. The major difference will be the type of posts. I’ve kept this blog focused only on work I’ve made or things I’ve photographed. The Tumblr blog is (and will continue to be) filled with things I find on the Web including quotes, articles, videos, and art. Mainly, things that I learn from or find motivating. Most importantly, this means no more double posting for me!

So what will I do with ableparris.com? Good question.

I’m thinking it will be more like a Table of Contents of places to find me on the Web. Something I don’t have to update often. I don’t have much time these days, and I have plans for other projects in the future that I want to focus on.

It’s interesting to note how this blog began, since I don’t really know my co-contributors that well, and now we’re all three blogging together. I know each of them through Twitter, they are Jeremy Zilar and Cole Pierce. It was on Twitter a brief conversation about music happened, ending with one of them saying, “we should start a blog.” Within minutes, I had started a Tumblr blog, and started posting.

At the time of writing this, we’ve got 33 posts for you to check out, and we’re posting at random throughout the day. I invite you to follow the blog on Tumblr or subscribe via RSS. You can also submit posts you think would be a good fit. Field Mic accepts music that is a combination of ambient, found samples, field recording, and a harmonic or classic composition.

I won’t talk much about the trip, but I did want to post some of my favorite iPhone snapshots. Julia and I both shot medium format film so hopefully those will turn out. If they do, I’ll share them here. (It’s only a matter of time before I get a good digital camera.)

I’ve been using an app called ToyCamera, and sometimes TiltShiftGen to push part of the photo out of focus. I highly recommend each of them.

It’s free to download, but that’s not all. You also get a hi-res copy of the cover to print out at home. I hope you check out his bands, and find a good place for the free artwork. If you like it, please pass on the good word to your friends, and help support independent music.

Julia and I couldn’t be more excited to be heading to Seattle in the morning. Well, we’d be more excited if we didn’t have to get up at 4am, but oh well.

I’ve always wanted to visit Seattle, but I’m especially excited about this trip, because we’ll be visiting four wonderful friends from RISD. They are all artists, and I’d like to introduce them to you. Please find links to their websites below.

Tom Deslongchamp is an animator with an amazing sense of humor. His wife, Jessica Phoenix, is an illustrator. You’ve probably bought some of the things she’s made not realizing it.

Saturday, we’ll be joined by the great craftsman and designer, Joel Wakeman. His wife, Miranda, takes all of the beautiful photographs you see on Joel’s site.

I’ll be posting another project later this week, but other than that, it will be quiet around here. If you’d like to keep up with my travels you can follow me on Twitter and/or Flickr.

You can have your art/design printed on an iPhone case, too. I had the box in hand within a few days of ordering it, and the package it comes in is super slick. They really have a nice thing going.
