Since I worked in a TV repair shop doing odd jobs, I got to see how television was evolving. I also had the opportunity to see the behind the scene antics of what people went through, just to watch TV, not to mention what the repair men went through to get that accomplished.

When I see how TV is now, HDTV and satellites and digital and everything else under the sun, it just makes TV viewing that much better. I don't work in a TV repair shop now and haven't for quite some time, but the days of black and white TV still had their place. People would have tin foil on rabbit ears and they would have to get off the couch or chair to change TV stations. They did this without any thought of it being a chore. They also would sit right in front of the TV so that they didn't have to get up to change channels, or they would take turns doing it.

When push buttons came out people would have a long stick or pole to push the buttons and they thought they were ahead of the times because they would not have to get up out of their seats. I got to see this kind of thing when I would go into their homes on a service call with the repair men. The people where lucky if the TV could be fixed in their home because it would save them some money. One day after finishing a service call on a TV and driving home the TV repair man who was driving kept squinting his eyes. I asked what was wrong and he said he forgot his eye glasses back at the customers house. The part that was funny was when we did go back to get his glasses we found them inside the TV. The back of the TV had to be removed in order for him to repair it and he took off his glasses and placed them inside the TV and forgot them there when he put the back on the TV.

There where a lot of good times helping people to be able to watch TV. Today with satellite dishes and LCD TV's and Plasma TV's and Receivers and remotes, people seemed to have evolved too. They know what all these things are.
